Wife and I have been staying at the Harmony Motel since we started dating, and we continued staying here when we had our son. So this motel has a special place in our hearts. At the beginning, we stayed in the general rooms maybe twice of all our stays. While they are well appointed, they are no where as well equipped as the Jack Kerouac Cabin. Ever since 2009, our stay at the Harmony Motel has always been at the Jack Kerouac Cabin (JKC). The cabin has a full kitchen, although the kitchenware, and especially the lidless trashcan, can use a bit of an update (they've been the same for over a decade). The outdoor area has a small bistro set where we grill, stargaze or just enjoy the desert serenity over a glass of wine and some background music with our portable Bluetooth speaker. Whenever we stayed at the JKC, there was an 18" Weber Smokey Joe grill for us to use, which we used extensively to grill steaks after a long day hiking at the nearby 49 Palms Oasis. Charcoals were not provided, but can be acquired at the local Stater Brothers supermarket down the street. As of this writing, that grill may or may not be there anymore. If it's not there, bring your own, like a Weber Q1200 or similar. Some of the wildlife we had the pleasure of watching from the JKC includes, but not limited to California quails, lizards, chuckwallas, desert tortoise, harvester ants, hawks and roadrunners.I personally started staying at the Harmony Motel sometime in 2007 and my wife-then-girlfriend started staying in 2009. We made it an annual tradition to stay at the JKC every year during Thanksgiving weekend, up until the height of the pandemic, for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, we were not able to return one last time since we have moved to Texas. We did however, find a Texas equivalent of our beloved JKC and established a new Thanksgiving weekend tradition in the Lone Star State. Read my review on Walnut Canyon Cabins in Fredericksburg for details.Rooms: For a more private experience, the Jack Kerouac Cabin is detached from the main motel and in it's private area. It can get a little noisy since it lies adjacent to Hwy 62 (and since Hwy 62 has gotten busier throughout the years).

My husband and I spent three nights at the Harmony Hotel. Ash was very kind and we were able to check in earlier than normal, which allowed us to see Joshua Tree NP earlier during the sunny day. I had to work remote and the WIFI was a little spotty so Ash was kind to let me work in the commons area where the signal was a bit better. The rooms were exceptionally clean and we stayed in room six which had a nicely stocked kitchen for making breakfast or other meals. It was very quiet and safe at The Harmony. The hotel is only minutes from 29 Palms for groceries, dining, shopping and other amenities. The town of Joshua Tree is only 15 minutes away. It's beautiful at night to watch the stars because you're on a hill above 29 Palms. We were unable to use the hot tub due to inclement weather. However, our stay was 5 star. Thank you.

The hotel room itself was decent. Clean. Kitchen was large. I like being able to park outside. If you like very hard beds, the place is for you. I couldn't sleep well because I have some joint problems and the bed was way too hard. The manager was a bit off putting when she was telling us about the room. I felt scolded before we had even gotten the key. There are probably better places to stay in Twentynine Palms but in a pinch I think it would be okay.

We had an extremely comfortable and relaxing two day stay in Chuck's Cabin at the Harmony Motel as a base to visit the amazing Joshua Tree National Park, which doubled up as a U2 pilgrimage, given that the final stop on our road trip was to see the band at the Sphere. Really loved the rock 'n' roll desert vibes and owner Ash was a pleasure to deal with. Hope to return one day!

I've been coming to visit for the better part of two decades, and I've never had a bad visit. The rooms are impossibly clean, there is a nice hot tub and pool that is well attended and the showers are strong and hot. I also end up enjoying the other guests, with a self selection of those in the know. Do yourself a favor & make this a frequent stop, and support independent businesses! Ash will take care of you when you arrive.

This is a very charming and unique hotel conveniently located for the town of Joshua Tree and 29 Palms. The property is fun to look at during the day, but at night the true charm of the property comes out with the outdoor lighting. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool is private and very nice. Ash, the manager is friendly and helpful with information about the area. I have stayed here several times, and had a great experience every year. If you are thinking about booking this hotel, do it!

Harmony Motel is perfect for a long or short stay for budget travelers who dine in. First off, my expectations are tempered by recognizing the very affordable room rate At the $113 per night . In the Motel-Hotel universe, the old adage: "you get what you pay for," generally speaking, is true. That said, let me dive into my review based on that price point level because this little motel has a lot to offer.A family of four spending five nights at Harmony Motel located in 29 Palms California. The main theme would be an extensive tour of Joshua Tree National Park. That said, l would recommend Harmony because it's close and convenient to not only Joshua Tree, a 15-minute drive on Palm Highway. Harmony Motel sits on a hilltop directly overhead. We had two spaces at Harmony that suited our stay well. The Jack Keurrac cabin and The Tortoise Room. A traditional-sized motel room with two double beds and a private bath. Both have a small patio directly outside the entry with a table and chairs for two. The tortoise room gets great morning and most day sun and is directly across from the pool and Jacuzzi. FYI the pool is not heated in winter months. However, it did not stop me from doing a canon ball leap after soaking in the hot tub jacuzzi which is soothing after hiking all day. I think I jumped out faster than jumping in as it is refreshingly icy!Harmony is owned and operated by a lovely Lady named Ash who is on the property daily and nightly overseeing motel operations. A liaison for guests' questions and interests we found very helpful. The Harmony Motel is what I would call "desert rustica". Meaning it is quaint and simple and best of all: affordable. Especially when staying for an extended visit as we did.A mile down Palm Hwy we found Stater's grocery, Grocery outlet store, and Dollar General had all the provisions to prepare all our meals prepared in the Keuracc cabin. A full kitchen stocked with everything one requires to cook and serve meals at the table for 4.We also accessed Harmony's shared kitchen/library space where there was a large fridge we utilized for our groceries so the Kerouac smaller fridge/freezer wasn't stuffed to full. For 5 days there was a small fee of $16 for share-kitchen access stocked with a toaster oven, coffee maker, thermos, and microwave. Additionally, it has a sink area for doing dishes and a guest computer. Open 7:30 to 9;30 daily. The Harmony was perfect for my family on a budget because we cooked all of our meals in the cabin and soaked in that hot tub nightly. Along with our pleasant stay at Harmony Motel, the Joshua Tree National Park ranking #6 out of 450 US National Parks: Super spectacular!

This is our third stay at the Harmony Motel. We absolutely love it! The owners name is Ash, and she is so friendly. We love coming to the desert, this property is so beautiful. It is quaint and decorated with the most beautiful succulents and animal caricatures. Each guest room has its own porch with table and chairs to sit and enjoy your coffee. There is also a pool and Jacuzzi on the property which is so nice sitting under the night stars! Thank you Ash for another wonderful stay, we will see you soon! Robert & Teri Merchant

I was so pleased with our all too brief stay at Melody Motel. The room was exceptionally clean, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the scenery was gorgeous. Ash went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Yeah, you could stay at a chain hotel, but with an option like Harmony Motel, why would you? Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere unique when you are in Twentynine Palms--stay at the Harmony Motel.

We checked in late after coming from Palm Springs. We deliberated which motel to stay at in 29 Palms as I was not keen on staying in a generic Motel 6/Marriott etc. I am so glad we chose Harmony as it has so much charm. Ash was very accomodating. Our room was clean and spacious with seperate kitchen. Plus it s the ideal location to enter the JT national park.

This is where I stay when I come back to the beauty of the desert. The mountains of the north boundary of Joshua Tree National Park watch over the motel and sitting out on my little patio from my room is one of my favorite things to do during sunrise or sunset. I rarely get fives but this place I do.Rooms: The rooms are neat and clean and quiet

Pros: location is near the entrance to Joshua tree. The pool area is nice.Cons: rooms are very dirty: dirty shower, dirty floors, food in the kitchen area from previous guest, red finger print on bathroom wall (blood?), dingy bedding. young kids can t use the hot tub. We left some items in the room and management ghosted us when we reached out.

Unfortunately had a few bad experiences first my debit card was in the room when I left for work then someone found it in parking lot hmmm . Then I got charged 4 nites on the 13 and it was taken out yesterday on nov24 again and I checked out the owner had both my cards on file never got no receipts it seemd theyhad a problem cleaning my room I stayed there a week and half . Then told owner I was doing day by day and she booked it for someone and I left . The biggest problem was trust I never trusted the housekeeper shes using I feel she took my card and when I complained she dropped it on the parking lot .Walkability: Close to stores

I can unfortunately corroborate the other one star reviews posted here, even though I didn't get the chance to stay.I was trying to book a room in advance for two of my guests traveling long distance on my wedding night. After I had completed the reservation online, I informed the motel of the intended occupants. The owner told me this would not be allowed unless I was physically there to check them in and sign the receipt in person. She expected me to leave my wedding reception just to check two of my guests into her motel? Not surprisingly, my fiance said No.As an alternative, somewhat rudely, the owner kept pressuring me to send photo copies of both my ID and credit card, front and back, via email, as per "her policy," despite my card information already being on file to book the reservation. My credit card company advised me to NEVER do this, and so she was happy to cancel my reservation and redirect me to other hotels in the area.Their "policies" and cyber security (if any) seem awfully shady. I will be avoiding this motel and advise others to do the same. Such a shame that a motel owner would insist on making her accommodations extraordinarily unaccommodating!

Love this place. Ash the owner has always had a great room for me at a very reasonable price. Just recently rented a cabin on the property and had the best time in recent memory with my girlfriend. We loved the seclusion and mountain views especially at sunset. I will always stay here when out in 29 Palms.Rooms: The rooms are quaint and eclectic. You feel like your in a time Capsule. Love these rooms and most come with a Kitchen fully stocked with utensils.Nearby activities: Downtown 29 palms is 5 minutes from the hotel and 15 minutes to Joshua Tree National Park.Safety: The Hotel is in a secluded area of 29 palms right off Route 62. I feel very safe staying here.

I cancelled my reservation back in June by phone and e-mail. I just received a frantic and unprofessional call from someone confirming if I was arriving tomorrow. When I said I had already cancelled she questioned me 10x over despite my saying I was at work and to please hang on. She became incensed, shouting that she would know or remember if I cancelled. Lo and behold her antics were for nothing because I had sent the email. Really unfortunate experience and way to deal with people.

I was looking forward to staying in this Motel but the whole experience was ruined by the very rude manager. On the same day of the reservation (even though I booked months in advance) she informed me they did an error with my booking and that I had to pay more than stated in the reservation form (which noted the right number of guests, age and nights). When I asked to explain the error, as my reservation looked correct, I was told I could book a cheaper hotel in the area if I was not happy. Not exactly what you wish when travelling with children on a carefully planned trip. Thankfully their mistake didn t cost us much, but a bit scary when your reservation confirmation means nothing and they can tell you on the day to pay more or cancel. I would avoid this place a not recommend it.

Very rude owner, ruined the whole experience for my family and I. In the policy it never states that you can not have visitors, yet one of my family members who lives in the area was harassed countless times by the owner, the owner called our room multiple times to complain that my family member was a liability and that her insurance did not cover visitors, yet, he did not stay in our room, or cause any problems, so why was it such an issue? Overall the place was beautiful, but I would NOT recommend this motel to anyone, there are much better places in the area.

Don t stay here. I tried to rent a room and the lady was so rude I left at check in and told her not to charge our card. I don t live in CA anymore but my cousins that live in 29 gave me a ride. The lady who works at the front came out to the parking lot when we pulled up because she was heading home and asked if she could help us. I said I reserved a room and she said there were no more reservations even though I had proof of my reservation on my email. I walked into the front desk with her and she found my reservation and asked how many people because she saw my cousins outside and assumed it was more. I told her it was just me they were coming in for a minute before we went to dinner and they were staying at their house. I even said I would pay for another person just incase one of my cousins stayed. She continued to question and assume I was lying and I asked if they can come in with me to get ready but she said she didn t feel comfortable and suggested other hotels even though I told her they live here and don t need hotels. She continued to assume I was lying so at that point it was so frustrating and too much just for one night so I told her I will find another hotel by myself and she will lose the money. Not right to assume a customer is lying and question them until they feel uncomfortable.

Our stay was fine. But the woman running the place tried to cancel our reservation stating that there is a two night minimum in California, so I paid for an extra room I didn t stay in. There is a nice new hotel just down the street, I would advise you try there. Usually I try to stay at Mom and Pop places but that is because they are usually run by nicer people. Believe me you can live Without this one, there is no soul and Bono wouldn t endorse it.

An unexpected gem. Quaint and cozy grounds with an intimate feel and classic desert vibe. There are just 8 units, with a shared kitchen, office, games area, which is great if you're staying longer than a couple days. Nice pool and hot tub, I was able to take an hour long soak all alone the night I arrived, very peaceful. Warm lighting of the grounds at night adds a nice ambiance. Each room has a little patio area with table and chairs, my room was very clean and crisp, not what I expected. All around this was one of my very favorite hotel experiences. I travel the west frequently, and most places at this price aren't nearly as nice. The desert is hard on buildings, and small places like this cost a lot to maintain. Somehow this place is managing to do a really decent job of it. The owner was very friendly and helpful, we had a lovely conversation about all sorts of things. She went far beyond the typical hostess, walking me to my room, explaining the ins and outs. If you're looking for someplace affordable that has real character and charm, and you also like a clean room and grounds, this is your place.

I could not have been happier with my stay at Harmony Motel! I booked my room incredibly last minute, and feel so fortunate that I got the last room for the night! My room was beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. I loved having the bistro table outside of the room for morning coffee overlooking the beautiful grounds! The hot tub was amazing to relax in after a long day driving, and would be excellent after a day exploring in Joshua Tree NP! Coffee was ready early, and far better than your average hotel coffee. The motel is definitely an older building, but has been beautifully remodeled. It is a motel, which of course implies roadside. It sits along a main road, so there is some road noise at night but wasn't a problem at all. I slept great in a comfortable king bed, and loved that the window facing the back of the motel had some privacy. I opted to leave the curtain open and wake with the natural morning light, though could have definitely closed the curtains for darkness and a late afternoon snooze if I had wanted.I definitely hope to come back, and stay at the Harmony Motel again!
