We stayed here for a week in June and had a fabulous time. The cabin was clean (kudos to the great, friendly staff!) the lake and views are amazing, and lots of fun activities to do. We enjoyed riding bicycles, cornhole, campfire, swimming in the pool, 4-square, mini-golf, walking trails and more. The koa itself is in a gorgeous area with lots of nearby activities. Looking forward to going back.

First time at this campground, my 7yr old and 15mo had a blast here. They have running water close to every campsite. Showers with heated water and flushing toilets. There was plenty of shade at the campsite and a tree equipped for our hammock. The lake was a bit low, we don t have 4WD vehicle so getting to some parts of the lake was a bit difficult for us, but we were able to find a spot to at-least get our feet wet. There s a fire pit at each campsite as well. They have a pool (but it s still a bit chilly for our kiddos and us to want to get in it) they have a small playground for kids and a small putt-in area for families to play at.We had great phone service (we have Verizon) and there was wifi available as well.We stayed at campsite #129 we didn t have anyone around us and it was nice and quite the weekend we were there. We would totally come here again. Bathrooms were clean, showers were clean as well and the store had plenty of things to purchase to make your stay better.

I recommend this KOA to anyone, whether they like tent camping, staying in a rustic cabin or just parking their RV / camper for some much needed relaxation! First the staff was amazing! They re friendly, helpful, and always ready to deliver firewood or answer questions about the best way to get to the lake, for example. The location is perfect. I ve stayed at some campgrounds that are close to a busy highway and I could still hear the noisy city interfering with nature. This KOA is located far enough from a city that you actually feel like you re taking a break! Weaverville, the nearest town, is close enough if you need anything, but this KOA has a store that s going to meet most, if not all of your camping needs! The beauty of this area is always overwhelming to me! I m from Florida and fell in love with Northern California. This KOA is a perfect representation of that beautiful area!

Like the other recent review says, it's a total circus. If you want to go to a place where you can drive ATVs around drunk, blast music all day long, let your kids drive in circles around camp in their dirt bikes, and listen to people shouting, then come here. If you want to have a peaceful camping experience, avoid this place, especially on weekends.Definitely NOT a place to bring family.

Disapointed for the price. Camp sites ok. Long, narrow, remote, windy, road to get to camp. Asked staff where laundry room was and they were not helpful. The washer and dryer in the first laundry room that I found were out of order. Kids were excited to go swimming only to find the pool green.

We really enjoyed this campground, it's a hidden gem! The RV sites were spacious with plenty of room for parking at least 2 vehicles, with significant space between each site so you're not too close to your neighbors. We didn't get cell reception and there's only wifi at and around the office which was fine for us. Trinity Lake is virtually empty, but there are several streams and creeks nearby, with a lot of fishing spots. The lake bed is being used for off roading and our dogs really enjoyed the wide open spaces to run around so there's still a lot to do, even without the lake. The staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. The campground has tons of amenities, including a small dog park and mini golf course. They also have gas and propane on site. If you're towing a trailer, don't follow Google maps GPS. Take the 299 all the way into Weaverville and get on the 3 there. Google maps will take you on "shortcuts" that aren't RV friendly. The bathrooms and campground in general were very clean, and the store was well stocked.

it was a bit of a drive for us, but overall worth it. The water level in the lake is very low, which makes it fun for all of the atvs and motorcycles, and they were all over the park. Other campers also had very loose boundaries when walking through our camp. But the campground was clean, beautiful and staff were very nice. We would return if it wasn't so far.

Our tent site was clean but far out and the closest bathroom was closed the whole time we were there. There were closer tent sites still available when we left so I don't know why our tent site was so far out! Having to walk the extra distance to the next bathroom with a 3yr old was not convenient. We never had a hammock which the KOA website said every tent site had a hammock. It was quiet and other then the above, was an ok experience.

I have loved this place, every year since 1989. Large spaces, clean campground, wonderful staff, roving security, pool and other amenities. Snack shack and the lake are close by. Many things to do which which is why I now spend 30 days annually in the RV hookup area since I retired 8 years ago. Previously during my working years my family and I spent my annual 2 - 3 week vacation in the tent area with my pop up trailer. The sites are very large. Trinity KOA Is a destination location and I have always returned. My recommendation to others over the years have likely caused dozens of others to come. One of the reasons I and others enjoy this place so much is because you can choose your site and dates for next year which gives you peace of mind. KOA has always allowed loyal returning campers to reserve their dates and space. Many of us have even made improvements at our own expense to our sites such as bringing in pea gravel etc. Well, all that suddenly changed this season without warning. No longer are you provided the opportunity to keep your favorite site or dates for the next year. It s all about first come first serve now. So veteran loyal campers can lose their coveted site and dates to someone who may have called a day ahead of you. Once word of mouth got around people were calling making reservations for next year choosing the best sites that have been secured for years by loyal returning campers. I managed to get my two sites but lost several days due to someone calling ahead of me and extending their trip into my dates that I have always had. And I was also required to pay in full for next season if I was to benefit from the lower 30 rate that I have received for years. This is a huge burden. I have never had to pay more than a reasonable deposit to lock in my dates and sites. Also, this season there was no roving security that I saw and all but one bathroom building was closed. I asked to talk with the new manager several times but she was never available. Not one time over my 30 day stay did I even see the manager. The coveted snack shack was very poorly run this year. The ice cream machine didn t consistently work, really, and their hours of operation were significantly reduced. Wait times for food was horribly long. I know it s privately run but it is on the KOA property and has always been a huge convenience to just run up and get food or treats. That changed this season. So after 32 years maybe it s time to look elsewhere.

It was a great vacation at the Trinity Lake KOA Holiday (7-10 September 2020). There were almost no visitors at this time.We lived in two tents in Forest Loop 2 #158.Available for use (within walking distance (2 minutes)):- restroom,- shower- dishwashing station- laundryThere was a drinking water tap next to our tent.At the entrance you can find many additional free entertainment for every taste (see attached photos). There was a small shop at the reception (you can buy firewood, fishing rods and other useful things for camping).Unfortunately at this time it was the end of the season and we were not able to rent kayaking.I recommend going to the lake, just put on high shoes and pants (a lot of dry and tall grass).I would like to mention that the staff have always been friendly and helpful.P.s. Pet friendlyThank you very much, we will come again soon!

Avoid this place at all costs. We had no cell service and there was no wifi as advertised. The excuse was they used up all their data? Campgrounds we re pretty full so I m not sure why they couldn t pay for more data. It was clearly advertised and our map of the grounds even said wifi available. We had no way to contact anyone unless we used the store phone. The lake is basically non existent due to drought. We drove out miles just to find some water and even then it was muddy and didn t look good. Campgrounds we re definitely run down. Activities were very minimal. With no cell service or wifi we couldn t really find anything else to do. I do not recommend.

Standard KOA and that's a good thing. clean, plenty of shade, mini golf, pool and store. The wi-fi was weak and you had to be up at the store but I've had parks with no service and that's really bad.. the store was small but adequate and the staff helpful. They directed us to a local pizza joint (trailhead)and best of all a local trout pond. The lake was very low and out of reach for us and all the grandkids. The pond was perfect for fishing and kayaking. We caught a number of fish but Low and behold the service came in to restock the pond while we were there and it really impressed the under 10 kids to see the trout streaming out of the tank and the driver telling us as soon as he was out of sight to resume fishing

One of our favorite campgrounds! As it is a KOA, you won't be roughing it much. The cabins are well stocked and very clean. All the sites seem to be very accessible and well maintained. Prices at the on site general store are high, but not ridiculous for a campground. There are many options for families - the pool, playgrounds, and equipment rentals at the camp can keep you busy for days. The setting is quiet, with lots of nature trees, but it is just off the highway. It's a quick jaunt into Trinity Center or Coffee Creek for additional supplies. This campground is about 45 minutes out of Weaverville and sits right on Trinity Lake. The staff is all very friendly and caring and are quick to help and answer questions. This is the third time that we have stayed at this campground, and I would highly recommend it. It is definitely more fun on years when the lake is more full, but even when water levels are low, there is plenty to do!If you stop be sure to get an old fashioned milkshake from the Mini-Kat; you won't regret it!

Our first stay at Trinity Lake KOA was awesome! We loved being so close to the lake. Our first grader enjoyed the variety of activities offered. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. The campground was pretty quiet at night too. We look forward to our next visit in our Class B Sprinter camper van. :) (FYI: There is no access to AT&T network in the area)

I called before going and explain to the man on the phone that our tent has led light hooks built in we needed outlet. He replied, all our sites has hook ups/outlet . Not true at all. The pool was supposed to be heated not true again. BBQ on sites are not adjustable, which made things a little challenging. The staff was very nice and helpful except one older woman. She was rude to everyone not just my members in the store but everyone else that came into the store. Other then those 4 things awesome experience. Highly recommended just ignore the heavy set older lady she claims she new at the site.

This is a great place to come with family. They have a lot to do and it is very clean. We were there for the Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately, when we showed up the smoke from all the fires all over California had shifted to Lake Trinity. My son has very bad allergies and was having trouble breathing so we had to cut our trip short. We went to the front desk to explain and they were so kind and helpful and even refunded the days we were not going to be there for. The staff here is more kind then any other place we have camped at. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be coming back for sure!

My wife and her family have been coming to this camp ground for over 30 years. Then KOA bought it, and the corporate presence took over. We still came here each summer, but this year takes the cake. We are here for 10 days, and 7 of those days are without water and bathrooms. We were notified that a water leak had been found, and the bathrooms and water supply to tent sites would be cut off for certain hours. This was the first 3 days. Today, we were notified that they found more leaks (its Saturday) and the water will be off the next 5-6 days, but it s their top priority, and someone will be out on MONDAY to start working on it.Numerous campers went to the KOA office to inquire about the water issues, and asked if they would be refunded some of the fees for he stay since there is no water and only limited bathroom use. The manager s only answer was You ll have to call corporate . No refunds, no real palpable remorse for everyone s serious inconvenience. They just don t freaking care. This manager is moving on at the end of the season, and I m sure you know how much good calling corporate does for you. They really don t care if their customers are unhappy or inconvenienced. They should all go 10 days without running water and bathrooms. I really doubt they would be willing to call corporate for some oh, we re really sorry for the inconvenience dialog. This KOA site is a disaster. Do NOT come here until a new owner buys this property. Seriously! You are better off in one of those dirty Motel 6 rooms! At least they have running water and a bathroom.

First time staying in a KOA, and sad to say it's made me question whether this is our kind of getaway. When we approached the site, we sat at a 10 min temporary stoplight for a pretty significant construction project right up against the KOA cabins. When we checked in we were told this was a more "Rustic" KOA site. We were given cabin 20, which others said was the best cabin, We drove to it and it was right up against the construction, where they were driving huge steel pipes into the ground, shaking the cabin. I rushed down to the office to see if we could be moved. We were told "They should be stopping soon" Didn't matter, I wasn't staying there. The staff were very nice and moved us 6 cabins down. Moved to cabin 14, which was as expected on the inside. Pretty decent for "camping". If you look on google maps, it looks like there is at least one row of trees blocking the road right outside (and no construction, just trees). The construction had pulled out all the trees on the roadside, and our view was cement blocks making a wall, and the other side of that construction stoplight. As the sun set, the generator went on to run the stoplight, along with a big flood light. We tried to make the best of it. Views out the kitchen and sliding door to the back patio let us imagine we were somewhere remote. Unfortunately the pile driver started every morning at 7am, along with a very angry, shouting foreman. (and that was 6 cabins away) Walls in the cabin we paper thin. Fine, it's a cabin. Although the constant back and forth of neighbors with their huge trucks going over the gravel road outside was frustrating. Listening to other families having fun, I have no problem with that! The lake is very low. We were told if you want to try to go there, you should drive down there. We did take a walk through the larger campsite, and pretty much gave up even trying to locate any remains of a lake. We saw some campers going through the area on their ATV. I think that's a great activity for the remains of Trinity lake, if you have one. The RV and tent sites looked like a better way to go, but the bathrooms were pretty gross. There was a staff member driving around, but he seemed to be focused on getting kids off the rental bikes, and closing up the pool. We tried the pool. Lasted maybe 30 mins. Lots of people tracking their dirty feet into the water. Teenagers vaping, kids spitting in the water and generally not a welcoming feeling for my 11 year old son. I think this location would be great if you were tent or RV camping with a huge group, and brought a lot of activities to stay within camp. The store has limited hours, and most of the food was expired. The big activity was sitting outside the store trying to use the not so awesome wifi. The Mini Kat never opened while we were there. The staff in the store said they were independently owned and their hours were never shared, and pretty sportatic. We drove to Weaverville because there was just nothing to do, and sadly most of the town was closed thanks to Covid. Came back to our campsite, to find my husband and dog sitting outside trying to BBQ. He said that there was a guy sitting in his SUV, stuck at that horrible long stoplight, just laughing and him trying to camp on a roadside. That was the straw that broke the camels back. We collectively decided that we would just checkout early. Really sad that my attempt at a fun getaway for my family, to have it be so depressing. Most of the issues here are not the fault of the KOA. The shockingly low lake, the awful construction right up on the site, and a fire west of Weaverville that was quickly impacting air quality. I LOVE that the site was dog friendly. However, I am guessing KOA is no longer investing in this site. The staff were very nice, but I'm pretty sure they have been told many times that their site is bad...Based on this, I think we're done with KOA.

Inundated by smoke. Trinity Lake no longer has any water above a possible pool. No warning that it was hard to breathe or stay. In the whole park there seemed to be 3 or 4 trailers only. Pool looked green and it looked like only one cabin was filled. Office closed at 4:30.... No idea if we could get service or help after that. RV sites have all services at the very back end of the site and are tight side to side due to the trees. We didn't stay even one night due to the warning from a local that the route to the south and out of the area may be blocked by fire soon. Also absolutely no cell signal and WiFi only when directly adjacent to the registration building.

We had a great time here not much for a lake here at the moment they do have a pool and if you could drive your Truck or ATV water is not that far away to play in The staff were nice and the campground was clean love that you can have dogs and ATVsI ll definitely be coming back here.

Nice spacious campground with everything you need for camping. They have clean restrooms and showers (for free). Camping sites are well maintained, I liked the grill spot, it is very comfortable. There is a playground for kids and small cafe to get coffee and breakfast by the entrance. And don't miss sunset on lake, it's amazing, very beautiful!Price is $37 per tent site per night.

Huge campground with friendly staff and many amenities! Our site was big, though some trees could be felled to make sure slides and awnings are accommodated and some sites need to be leveled. One of my favorite things...the awesome playground was awesomely placed well away from campsites making it much more peaceful for those of us camping without kids. It's a beautiful location but beware. The store is not very well stocked, especially with refrigerated items and the nearest large grocery or hardware store is about 30 miles away. There is a small grocery close by. We will be going back.

This place is a circus. Loud ATVs constantly circling around, speeding & music on full blast. Ready to leave after an hour of arrival and definitely not a place to relax.

Disappointed with the lack of upkeep on the property. Electrical, sewer and water issues kept occurring. Lights in camp loops weren't on at night. Water shut off to campsites overnight. RVs not allowed to dump for days because septic was over full. Been coming here for 38 years, and never seen issues like this. I hear it's being sold. Seems like KOA is holding it together with bandaids till then.

Had an awesome Mother's Day weekend with the family there! Had actually planned on kayaking at Kangaroo lake, but the snow was still blocking the road. So we rolled with it and went to Trinity lake instead.Normally I'm not a fan of KOA camping, but this location had everything Kayaks, tubes, bikes, boats, bean bag boxes, showers, restrooms, a store and more. Lake access was easy and the whole experience was well worth it.

This campground is really nice. We stayed in one of the cabins last month for my birthday. There's a lot to do and it's close to the lake as well. The negatives are that the cabin is not insulated so it gets really hot without the ac on and the chairs and futon are really uncomfortable. I'd suggest bringing an rv if you want to actually sleep.

They do not care about your stay all they want is your money. Was charged $10 for canceling my reservation the same day I made it, because I saw a promo online stay 2 nights get one free that I wanted to to use after I made the reservation. The only way I could get the promo they said was to cancel my current reservation and reschedule it ($10 charge ). Ok whatever...still saving $$$ . We unfortunately had to cancel our trip again the day before we left and without telling me before they cancelled it there was a almost $80 charge. I would have just made the trip to camp if I knew I was going to be charged so much. The gal told me the cancelation policy is in the receipt lol. Thanks, not all of us have time to read your fine print. Really disappointed in their overall handle of the situation. First time we were going to take our trailer to a KOA. Will not be staying here ever, or any KOA for that matter. Thanks for nothing.
