Brought my Ford Explorer here based on good reviews, but my experience was not good.Todd was a complete a-hole to me, for no reason.When I METthem I told them cylinders 2 and 6 were misfiring. Gil asked me why didn't the shop that discovered the misfires fix it. I told him because they wanted to charge a diagnostic on top of the repair.I made an appointment to have the car taken down and diagnosed.They didn't do that. Instead they tried to gather codes. I don't know why, considering there were no codes the day I brought it to them (last Thursday or Friday).Gil asked me if the codes had been cleared. But THEY never saw codes. I TOLD them what the codes were.Then Todd had the audacity to tell me to get my key and go. Absolutely RUDE and nasty.When I initially called he was nasty. That's why I dealt with Gil.I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone, especially if you're Black and a woman!

I was told by a highly reliable source that Gil and Todd were totally competent and as honest as the day is long so I was delighted to learn from personal experience that every word of praise for them is richly deserved! I had an old car with a lot of little electrical issues and now I own a classic vehicle with no issues at all! A skilled and trustworthy crew of auto mechanics is a priceless commodity and I will never allow anyone other than Bothwell Automotive to work on my Town Car!Service: Electrical repair

Please dont use this car repair shop. Gil will wish you will crash your car and die. He will ruin your car more. he is evil and not honest. Please stay away from this place.

I can t say enough good things about this place. They gave me a very competitive price quote, checked my car out quickly to confirm the issue, and they were able to work around my weird work schedule to get my car up and running again. The team was very nice and helpful, and I ve already recommended them to two other people. Thank you so much!!

Upfront customer rep Todd provided good friendly PR and was able to obtain the car part in a couple of days and installed in 45 minutes. Reasonable price given versus a dealership higher part price. Would return!No true wait room while car was being fix.

Had a faulty AC compressor which was quickly diagnosed. Gil advised me to contact the Ford as the car has very low mileage and was just barely out of warranty. Was quoted $1400 by the dealership after denying the claim. Gil worked with me on determining whether after-market or factory compressor was best. Fantastic customer service coupled with an extremely fair price compelled me to write this review. Highly recommended.

Best mechanic in town. 100% honest. Gil (the owner) and Todd in the front office are the best at telling you what has to be done, what could be done, and what's unnecessary. Always friendly and helpful.When my car got old and expensive repairs started, they suggested a new car. 1) Even the big repair bills were cheaper than a new car costs. And 2) I'd rather give Bothwell my money than a car salesman. (I did eventually get a new car after 20 years of my old car running really well thanks to Bothwell.)

Gil and his staff were so friendly. I travel for business so I was was stuck far from home. They were super busy but he had me bring my car in to test it. He told me I needed a battery and replaced it right there. Wow!Service: BatteryService: Battery

I dropped my car for general service they did good job but my 5 star is coz they fixed my bumper which was little hanging out without any cost which was very impressive

We have 3 cars and end up in the shop a couple times a year. Todd and the team always take care of us, communicate exactly what is wrong with the car, will even show us the parts before or after it is taken iut of the car. Reasonable prices. We typically call ahead to make an appointment.

Don't normally write reviews on Google but these guys are the best and are one of the few companies I consider worth letting everyone else know how great they are. Been going to them since I moved to the South Bay from Norcal on the recommendation of a friend who's been going to them for years. Best way to describe Bothwell Automotive is fair priced, do great work, and most importantly TRUSTWORTHY. Love these guys and I'd give them a better rating but 5 stars is the max.

Im glad I took my car here for an oil change. Gil let me know of some concerns he had and was not pushy about it. I did have him go ahead and check and fix what he was concerned about. I am so glad I did. My car is driving 100% better and no longer making noises I was avoiding. Friendly and helpful.

I was traveling with my children 700 miles from home. Several sensors along with an engine light went off in my car telling me there was a system failure. I knew I would be at the mercy of what ever the mechanic told me the problem was, and possibly more. I didn t know a soul in town, so I scoured several online reviews hoping to find an honest place. Luckily there were several places in the area of our hotel and most had pretty good reviews. I am a runner so I set out on foot. Bothwell was the 4th place I went to and after speaking with Gil I felt best about taking my car to him.Gil at Bothwell spent time diagnosing the problem and got us back on the road. He personally followed up with a phone call the next day to see how the car behaved and gave suggestions to give our mechanic when we got home just incase anything happened again. I waited to write the review after I drove the 700 miles safely back home so that I could attest to both his experienced suggestions and ethics in his field. I was in a bad position and could have been out hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Thanks for being the good people in the world Bothwell!

Team was really on top of things. Had a wiring issue that turned out to be a blown fuse I missed. The figured it out and fixed it quickly and didn't try any shady business. I will come here again

Bothwell is a place that actually cares about it's customers. They will bend over backwards to see you're satisfied and always do amazing work. If tone tired of taking your car to a dealership that doesn't care about your beyond how much money your can pay so have your vehicle fixed, try these guys.

True they can be a little pricey. But the hourly is average and they only use quality oem parts. Gil is awesome and never sells me things I don't need, and talks me or of things I don't need [yet].I will always and only bring my car here.

Honesty, trustworthiness, upfront, excellent workmanship, more than fair prices. Have known them since the 1980's. All my kids went there as well as my mother. Even some of the new car dealers have told me they send work there.

I'm a car enthusiast and have used Bothwell for years for several of our cars, from a 1967 Pontiac to a 2015 Chevy Tahoe. They are 100% honest, exceptionally good, and incredibly reasonable in their pricing. Hands down the best repair shop I've found in Los Angeles over the past 30 years.

Very sharp mechanics and honest, they also never over-sell. Was referred to them by a friend, now it's the only place I go unless it's a covered service by the dealer. Recently brought in my 15yr old SUV which was running rough & even stalling - told them someone else said it was fairly major, ignition module, etc. They found it to be real simple vacuum leak. If I took it anywhere else it would have been several hundred dollars. THX

This is by far the best experiences I've had with any mechanic since moving to California. The two gentlemen who run the shop are incredibly approachable and help you understand what it is that's wrong with your car and what needs to be done. They don't try to flee see you and they make sure that you understand all the options for what they have suggested and their recommendations. As a female taking her car to a mechanic alone, I've never felt more comfortable speaking to a mechanic one-on-one especially since I don't understand most things mechanical when it comes to my car to begin with. I can't speak highly enough about this group and I hope everyone gives them a chance. I will be back for sure! Thank you so much!

They take very good care of the company I work for anytime we need something. They make us feel like were there only customer. If we have a problem and we call them for help. They give us information over the phone or they send somebody to look at whatever we need and they fix The problem. They work on all her company vehicles. I'm very please with them in their service. Gil is one fantastic guy.

I've been taking my and my family's vehicles to Bothwell Automotive for many, many years starting with my '84 Corvette. Originally a domestic auto electric shop, they now work with great skill on almost any problem of any make and model. Gil, Steve and Todd really know their stuff. Steve collaborated with GM to develop the 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that's in my 2010 Chevy HHR-SS. Their work is fairly priced, and they are always trustworthy and honest. I started taking my 'Vette there after another shop would damage something every time I brought the car in for work. No collateral damage to my vehicles has ever happened at Bothwell Automotive. Excellent shop both for routine maintenance and for repairs. They even were able to replace my goddaughter's CR-V's stolen catalytic converter with all Honda factory parts; before that her CR-V's starter (the repair requires R&R of the intake manifold to access the starter, so I wasn't going to attempt that procedure myself).Fast forward to January 2021---The 'check engine' light came on in my HHR-SS. Steve Bothwell investigated the codes and traced the problem to a stuck purge solenoid in the vaper recovery/purge system. In and out in 1 day---all fixed at a reasonable cost. Hi. My wife and I have been taking our cars to Bothwell for years, primarily Toyota's including my Prius and GM's. We have never had an issue with a repair. Every time I have compared their price with a dealer's, they are significantly cheaper. They have also told us when we asked having work done and told us that the work wasn't needed.Finally, the cars have always been ready when they told us they would be ready except in one case, where they called us about a half day in advance and said they were having an issue getting a part from Toyota (it was not available locally and needed to come from the Toyota warehouse).Services: Transmission, Carburetor cleaning, Electrical, Brakes, Oil change
