This is a 3.5 star review, not 4.Let's start with the good things: the location is amazing, only about 5 miles away from the sequoia park. The view was breathtaking. The price was affordable. The owner was friendly. Free fast wifi. The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable. No cockroaches or weird bugs. I was upgraded from a queens room to a long room with balcony. The view from the balcony was fantastic. Now for the not so good things, the shower wasn't very strong and there are a few things here and there that I felt could have been better, mostly cosmetic like chipped paint/mirror, outdated design for the exterior hotel and the main lobby, I'd also appreciate newer door locks/non rusty chain etc. the free breakfast was questionable (stale bagels and small muffins and coffee) but hey, it was free. And the AC was definitely loud and needed to be replaced. However, given the price I paid ($65 a night) and the location, I was happy with my stay overall and I'll visit this place again. The overall experience is what you get for the price you pay.To the owner: please invest a little bit more in the lobby, better shower/ac and overall design of the building, this place has so much potential to be a five star stay. I wouldn't mind paying more for a better experience next time I'm in the area

Great little motel right near Sequoia entrance. I read all of the reviews, but needed a place last minute and really didn't feel like driving an hour farther last night nor this morning. We've been pleasantly surprised. The front desk manager is very nice. The room is clean. There's a cute little microwave and fridge. A balcony, a heater that works. Table and 2 chairs. The bed is comfortable. There are clean floors and no carpet. I worry about things like bedbugs and we thoroughly checked the room, no sign in sight of bugs of any kind. It's a great little lodge, that seems to have been updated since the bad reviews. Sure you can hear your neighbors, but I didn't hear anyone until morning when everyone was waking up anyway. For the price it's a great crash pad near the park. We just booked an additional night tonight and will certainly stay here again. Great price for a last minute booking so close to the park.Nearby activities: Sequoia National ParkFood & drinks: Gateway Restaurant and Brewery nearbyNoteworthy details: Great Value for the location.

Zero care or effort has been put into this motel and it shows. I would be ashamed if this was my business. This place is a dump that hasn't had any maintenance done for decades. The reception area smelt bad. The AC was loud and didn't cool down the room at all. The shower was annoying to use - the shower head points horizontally and hits the opposite wall. The light above the sink didn't work. There was a coffee maker in the room with one decaf coffee provided but no cups. Overall room cleanliness was okay. Breakfast was the usual motel fare (sugar laced and nothing fresh) and the coffee was watered down. Not worth the money and I wish I camped instead.

1. When checking in with water on floor and smelly in the room. They needs to see it & not want to change room in the first. And finally room changed.2. Welding workers make it so loud all morning. Don t care customer s experience here.Lousy experience

I was apprehensive about making a reservation here because of the negative reviews but decided to give it a chance and I am glad that I did. The location can't be beat. It is literally at the entrance to the Sequoia National Park. The bed was comfy and the rooms were clean. Also, there was free breakfast. For $89 a night it's a great value.Nearby activities: It's very close to the entrance of the Sequoia National Park.

Andi Lim's review is really spot on.This a a typical 1950-1960s Americana motel, having seen better days. The layout of the rooms, the decor and just the original craftmanship is all-American. Back in the day this must have been a true wonder. These days is looks a bit run down, and needs a renovation to fet it back to it's original look and feel. The receptionist was very kind, and being silly Danes we took him for a Native American, but he is in fact from Bangladesh. We had a good night's sleep, had a few hot baths, and were on our way.Still a gem.

You are getting exactly what you re paying for. The people leaving one star reviews are forgetting that they paid $99 a night to be right outside the park (less than 10 minutes away). The rooms are nothing spectacular, but ours was clean (no cockroaches, as others have complained about). There are restaurants nearby (Sequoia Coffee Co. is a must!) and we felt safe here. Someone mentioned a slightly annoying AC unit, we had that issue as well. Kept turning off all night, was pretty loud, didn t keep the room very cool. I found it helpful to set a timer on the AC unit, and that kept it running better through the night.

Floor is very dirty! Nothing seems clean. AC doesn't work right. Tiny fridge and microwave count as a kitchen. No ironing board. Breakfast is very small. Milk is just setting out on the counter. Spider webs everywhere!

My family stayed here and had a really nice visit. It was a great location for visiting Sequoia National Park. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a junior suite so it had plenty of room for our family of 5. The kitchenette had enough dishes for us to cook some un-complicated meals. And both the bathroom and kitchenette appeared to have some recent updates. Would stay here again.

We stayed here last week for one night. I think there was only one other couple there. It is old and needs updating. Our room was clean and we didn't see any roaches like in other postings. But, the pool is cold, there is no toilet paper holder, the water pressure is really low, the man checking us in was very unfriendly. After seeing the coffee pot with rust on the outside, we skipped whatever breakfast they put out. I think they are trying to update, as our flooring looked new and there was a pile of extra flooring by the pool fence, but they needed to do more before renting these rooms. Try the Comfort Inn down the road.

Avoid this place if you don't want to spoil your trip.I tried to call ahead of time, but nobody answers the phone. We arrived at 2:45pm for check-in. The person was very unfriendly and even rude. The office had a bad odor, so we for sure was not going to eat breakfast there. We dropped the bags in the room and run for the Sequoia National Park hoping to catch them open. We returned after 8:00pm to find out that bedding was not changed, the TV has not remote control, the couch and the chairs by the table were dirty, the room has cockroaches and bad odor. I didn't want to drag my wife and my little daughter looking for hotel in the middle of the night. I went to the office to ask for another room, the person said they were all occupied. Then I asked for clean bedding and he brought one bedsheet ( even he knew there were two beds in the room). I reminded him that there was two beds, and he returned and brought another bedsheet! I reminded him that each bed needs two bedsheets, then he announced that will not return again for me. I requested my money back and cancel the reservation, he closed the office door in my face and shouted from inside that the office is closed. We decided to sleep somewhere else. Left the place disgusted and offended. About 10 years ago we stayed here because it's close to Sequoia National Park. Back then the place was kept clean, the staff was friendly, apparently under different management/ownership. I recommend everyone to avoid this place if they don't want to spoil their trip.

Only recommend to those looking for: Cockroaches (inside and outside -dozens of them), unfriendly and unhelpful staff, kitchen with barely any utensils and a TV without a remote. When trying to get essential utensils for a kitchen, you may encounter a language barrier since the staff does not really speak English. On top of that, there seems no motivation to make the guests stay any better.A "2 room suite" is just one room with 2 beds and a sofa - very cramped. The so called breakfast consisted of sugared water adversitied as coffee, artificial tasting muffins and nothing else.Only silver lining is the location very close to Sequoia National Park.

Before I go into detail, I wanted to point out that if you are expecting the city life with Hilton hotels, you have exceeded your expectations because you will not be getting that at all staying in the town of Three Rivers. Three Rivers is a small town/village in the middle of the mountains. You will see bugs, insects , animals, and so on. So yes ,bugs like cockroaches will be visible on the premises and maybe in the bathroom. My room was not infested with bugs, but , on my last night (yesterday), there was one in the restroom. They are the big roaches that come out of drains , very typical. We should be scared of the little ones that hide in bags, blankets , clothes , etc.Sierra Lodge is not modern looking (yes, very antiquated: old-fashioned/out dated), but, it s comfortable enough to rest. However, the AC was complicated. For example, it would stay on the whole day, but it would turn on and off at night. It was tripping, for sure. It seems like the AC s might be programmed like that because during the day it would stay on cooling the room with no problem. By 9 pm, that s when the struggle started :/ they should be controlling them during the day when people are out and about , not at night when it s hot and a cool room is necessary for sleep. Our room was clean. I read that the rooms smelled a lot like pine sol, but, it all depends on a persons tolerance of scents and fragrances . The smell eventually left the room. Knowing the floors were cleaned, was good enough for me. They have housekeeping in the morning. The housekeeper left clean towels everyday, and tidied up the room.Sierra Lodge is a good location for sure , not far at all from Sequoia National Park. The price was fair. Very economical compared to other lodges and resorts in town .Would I stay here again ? That s a big I don t know! and it s all because of the AC. The problem with the AC was the biggest turn off cuz during the summer time it s necessary. If the AC wasn t problematic, I would considering staying here again. The guy at the front desk is not very involved with guests. He isn t the most friendliest person either. He disappears. It s hard to locate him. I have a feeling he does that so he doesn t have to deal with complaints lol. I did like that he is not micromanaging like how many motels/hotels staff can be tho.I give the pool a 4/5 cuz it only needed some cleaning cuz of some floating hair and bugs. Other than that, the water and floor of the pool was blue and clean.Overall, I recommend staying in the town of Three Rivers if your objective is to visit Sequoia, however , staying at the Sierra Lodge might not be the best for those who don t come from a humbling upbringing. If you expect something fancy , this place isn't meant for you.

DON'T STAY HERE! Absolutely disgusting! I stayed in room #1 and there were roaches and insects everywhere! The AC is extremely loud and makes it impossible to sleep. The whole place is in terrible shape, holes in the wall and broken furniture. Bed sheets are stained and toilet paper holder was missing. This place is a scam. The pool is so full of bugs you can't swim in it, and the breakfast is pathetic. For $130 dollars a night it is insane that these are the conditions. Do yourself a favor, don't stay here.

Room was filled with cockroaches, we thought we could save money by cupping them and tossing them outside, the next morning there were more of them and a black widow had built a web on the inside of the front door. When we eventually decided to give up and find a better hotel, Whoever was at the front desk wouldn't refund the time we stayed there, accused us of trying to scam him, and claimed "There weren't THAT many roaches", as if he knew how many there were in each room lol. The floor had a layer of grime on it so if a towel fell it was covered in dirt. I have no idea how this place stays in business. Do not go here.

I purchased the room ahead of time on priceline. I drove to the location and went to check in and was told that my room was canceled because my card was declined. My card was completely valid and has no issues. It was a very strange experience but judging by the other reviews it would have been a mistake to stay here. Maybe in the future they can take the time to call a customer before abruptly canceling the booking and leaving custumers stranded without an apology or a care. I want to support small business but this was shady and unprofessional.

My travel partner and I were on our way to Sequoia NP and decided to stop here for the night. The location can't be beat, as it is right outside the park. The man at the front desk wasn't very communicative. We tried to engage him in a little conversation, but he wasn't interested. We asked if we would be able to see any sequoia trees nearby in the morning and he said, "No, they keep those locked up in the park." Hahaha!! So, he does have a sense of humor, but really must be tired of dealing with customers or something. The room itself was OK. We got two beds and they were fine. The bathroom was less than fine - we both skipped using the shower because its cleanliness was questionable. The commode had a slow flush and we were almost afraid to use it, too. Our room was next to the big garage with all the washing machines, so we were able to sleep in total peace and quiet. In the morning, we walked down to the lobby for the "free breakfast". There were a couple of dry cereals, a container of milk left out on the counter, "coffee", a box of muffins from Costco, and a tray of literally expired oatmeal packets. I didn't realize the oatmeal was expired until I fixed my bowl and started eating it. I checked the packet and discovered the problem. No one from the motel was around, so I put all the other expired packets into the trash can to save another guest having to experience the taste I just went through. No one was around when we tried to check out. I tracked down one of the housekeepers and she was very nice. She went to the manager's suite to tell him and he told her we should just leave the keycard on the desk in the lobby. We told her we wanted to buy some postcards and she went back to the manager, who told her to tell us to leave the money on the desk. We felt a little weird about that, so we showed her how many postcards we were taking and how much money we were leaving, even though it wasn't her job to deal with us.We didn't see any bugs. All the wall pictures in the rooms are the same picture. The pool was closed. We traveled in October 2022.

Worst hotel I ve stayed at in a long time. The room smelled like chemicals and was impossible to stay in comfortably. I saw on other reviews that they have a cockroach problem. Maybe that s why there were so many chemicals in the room. The facility overall is just falling apart.

Very questionable place. Location is good but the owner is the worst! The first night we saw one cockroach in the room and told ourselves that I was a one time thing, after two nights there we woke up and saw two dozen cockroaches in the room! We packed our stuff as we were spouse to leave anyway, told the owner about the cockroaches and he didn t cared! He just said you should have told me before I told him that I literally packed my stuff and came to tell him and he just walked into the back room without looking at me or even saying that he s sorry and that he will check the room. As I was asking other guests in the hotel they also mentioned saying bugs in their room. I would definitely stay away from this place!

Rooms have been updated and clean. They forgot to replenish the dishwashing tablets so we could load up and have everything we used clean for them so we had to hand wash all our dishes instead. But other than that our experience here was great.Nearby activities: Yosemite and the largest sequoias are 20 minutes away.

I wish I had read more reviews before booking a room with this place. We are never staying here again. Everything in the room is disgusting and grimey. There were bugs inside the room, and the showerhead was broken. The whole place stunk of smoke and chemicals as well. I could go on, but to sum up, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Amazing place to stay, close to Sequoia NP, it is my second time staying here. I m a little picky staying in hotels , and for the price this is an amazing option!I came here in summer because it was the only hotel available, i was worried because of the reviews but i really liked my stay here that time.Right now I m here again in December, we have a nice and big room, really clean, and the costumer service is amazing. I would love to come back here. I really recommend it!

Decent place to stay the night after spending the day at the parks. The room was clean, bed ok, and room very spacious. The a/c seemed to cut off and not cut back on. The shower was very small. Breakfast was not out at 7am by the time we checked out/used key drop, but we weren't that concerned with that anyway but another family was waiting, so worth mentioning. All in all, would recommend for the night passing through.

Really enjoyed it. The views are awesome! Quaint place. It is 4 miles from the Sequoia National Park Entrance. Although we didn't interact with the ladies who did the cleaning of our room, my children loved that they would tuck in their stuffed animals when they made their beds. If I travel out here again,I would definitely stay there again.

Staying at Sierra Lodge was a mistake. the room was clean but had an overwhelming smell of strong cleaning products. The TV did not work at all at first, and when the manager got it going most channels were only Spanish language. The door to our room had glass panelling that allowed anyone walking past to see into the whole room. We could not lock the door from the inside. The worst part however was the checkin experience, we booked online with **********.com. He did not want to see any copies of the invoice and so on that we had, he just demanded that if we want the room we would have to pay him directly. He was very aggressive. He told us to contact the booking site, to cancel. They then rang him and he was very abusive and aggressive to the booking site person. Also, the free breakfast was very poor. Also the Wifi was very poor performance.

We arrived on the 15th of September the lobby was dark smelly. We got to the room the air conditioning did not work told the front desk he unplugged it and then plugged it back in. Didn t cool down had to sleep with windows open. Then we saw ants lots in the bathroom tub moved our stuff to the car. Told the guy he smiled and kept walking away. We seen people checking in then checking out. Would definitely not recommend this place.

Horrible motel. Don't stay here . Three rivers is a lovely little village and situated near Sequoia NP. Therefore the motel is probably always fully (pre)booked. If only people (like me) would have (pre)read the reviews , they would have booked another motel. Our room numbers were S3-the luxe suite and S2-big room; we stayed there 2 nights. Here is our (negative) review:>It's smells like garbage in the rooms. The owner tried to mask the smell by opening all windows pre-arrival>The rooms are dirty. Our bare feet were black after walking on the floor for several minutes.> Cutlery was just plain dirty (no dishwasher)>The stove was dirty>The kitchenware was dirty (we planned to cook, but had to eat out)>There was no bbq, although advertised>There was no open hearth, although advertised>Swimming pool was not heated, although advertised>Swimming pool was dirty (bugs, leafs, stones, sand)>Pover breakfast (when it's gone it's gone)>Smelly reception>Lots of bugs outside>Noisy road>The room beneath us could see the bottom of our bath (Norman Bates vibes).>The room next to us was renovated from early in the morning untill late at night>The receptionist was a grumpy, smelly, smoking Pakistani that believed that the twin towers attack was a conspiracy.> Parking space is limited> Several lightbulbs were not functioning and after complaints not replaced> The stairs to the upper rooms are (to) small, dirty, rusty and dangerous> The (to) few towels had stains> The communal terrace (for breakfast, for example) was completely worn out. There was also a danger of tripping over splinters and rusty nails.> The smoke detector beeped over 48 hours (low battery). After complaints it was not replaced/fixed.> There's Construction and demolition waste and regular garbage all over the terrain.> No toiletpaper present at arrival. After complaint we received 1 rol voor 2 days for 9 personsSo: DON'T GO HERE
