This weekend, we booked a room at Tahoe Sands for a quick night stopover on the way to Northstar. I was worried based on some other reviews that it would be a dump, but we were pleasantly surprised and would totally do it again, especially at this price (it was by far the cheapest place around at under $150).The room we booked was a 1-bedroom. There was a fold-out couch for my skiing buddy and I took the main bed. There were plenty of pillows and supplies, the beds were clean, and the rooms, while clearly dated, were very livable. There was even a kitchenette with a stove, a full fridge, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a basic coffee maker. The shower had its own heater and a full set of nice shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel.The main room had a wall heater and a fireplace, both of which kept it nice and warm. Each room had a TV.We checked in afterhours and left before the office opened, but the whole process was pretty simple and well-communicated since the door unlocks with a coded lock. The only negative was the lack of heat in the bedroom. Both wall heaters were broken and I woke up freezing. After opening the bedroom door, the room quickly heated up.The place was clean, so kudos to the cleaning staff. I just wish they fixed the heaters (room 216). Would definitely stay again for a quick night's rest.

Hidden gem with potential to be great. It's just not quite there. Rooms have been updated and remodeled. They are nice. Cozy. The grounds are a little neglected in my opinion. The view is amazing. Sunrises and sunsets look like paintings. Didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff. Those I did were friendly.Rooms: The rooms are nice. Not 5 star but they've been updated. Stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit. Plenty of room but hard to maintain temperatures above 70.Nearby activities: Some nice restaurants and parks close by. Casinos look to be struggling and some are shut down and boarded up. Skiing is not far and there is a golf course nearby as well.Safety: Overall, the resort felt safe. The doors use a standard key which can be a little concerning if someone were to make copies. Without the key cards, resort staff can't monitor who has access to the rooms. But aside from that, there were no concerns.Walkability: There isn't much within a reasonable walking distance.Food & drinks: The resort offers popcorn and coffee. Not sure on other options. There is no restaurant. The rooms have small kitchens in them and Safeway is a 5 min drive away.

We were not thrilled about our experience. There was no body wash & no conditioner.Shampoo ran out after third showerHeater not working!!Had to call for maintenance three times including walking to the office. They brought a small electric heater. When I inquired again about the heat I was told that maintenance came but couldn t enter the room without us there. However, housekeeping came in the room despite a do not disturb sign to refresh towels.Shower towels smelt like wet dog after getting wet.Pretty Disappointed

Booked for a studio, didn t know the bed actually has to be pulled down by hand, and I will be sleeping next to the stove. The heater was not warm at all, and extra loud. Requested a room closer to the lake but was assigned a dozen rooms away and told all full when there were less than 5 cars parked under. When other people checked out closer lake view of same room type available, told me no room capacity of my 4 people request when I was only by myself, then accused me why I didn t request a room closer to the lake when I had told them I asked upon checking in the reception told me there was no other room available, then told me to switch had to pay 30 dollar cleaning fee, then went up to 50 dollar cleaning fee, and threatened me to call the police when from beginning to end I only nicely asked them to show me their policy on paper for an explanation, as there was never cleaning fee stated like Airb&b, and it would be normal to switch to a room with same type in a hotel, they attempted to claim can not be amended in the reservation email meant switching room, when everyone would know it means room type or length of stay, they called their manager asking for documentation and was told 75 dollars cleaning fee and look for their policy in their rules and regulations, but still there was none and still claiming 75 dollars cleaning fee

Being part of Tahoe Sands for over 30 years and having 2 one week stays. So we use one week and deposit the other into one the vacation resorts. This year we stayed in 310 a bungalow that has been refurbished. I have to say I wish all the bungalows were like this one. Open floor plan, curtains and pull down blinds. Great stay we will be back next year.Nearby activities: Hiking, biking, canoeing and kayaking are close by. There some of the above you can use at the resort.Safety: We feel very safe here and the surrounding area. This year the local bears were out and about but none came to the resort.Walkability: You can walk the water edge but this year water was up. Alot of trails around to enjoy.Food & drinks: Close to places to get food and drinks.

This place is a nice place to stay. It's location is awesome!! Has its own beach, which is OK, wishing there was more sandy areas, but again, they have their own beach!! Which is great to do you do not have to pack up the car, drive somewhere, find parking, and fight the crowds for a beach spot. So this is again, awesome. The rooms were ok, nothing fancy, what you would expect from a 3 star Inn in Tahoe. The pool- spa areas were fine, great BBQ area, they have a horse shoe area, basketball hoop, bocce ball area, and old school swing set /slide on the beach. Overall a great place to stay if you don't want to break the bank, enjoy the lake, and hang out.

I'm writing to express my sincere appreciation for the staff. We had great customer service from Sophie, Emmanuel, Angelica, Linda, Sarah, and the temporary maintenance man, Chris. They are kind, friendly, and attentive. This resort is on beach front property which is rare in this area. The views of Lake Tahoe are spectacular! As for room selection, I'd like to suggest that you do not opt for a room on the bottom floor. The unsightly juniper bushes impede the view of Lake Tahoe.

For the amount of money spent to be a member, rooms need to be updated.... units are very small and falling apart. Nothing is ever working like outlets in the kitxhen, the fireplace, the hot tub was cold on our latest visit and the pool is never heated. The beach and waterfront are full of rocks making it impossible for our kids to play. They kept running the sprinklers during the day when we would want to be on the grass. They had one employee shew geese away once a day, which does no good... just allow dogs and they wouldn't be a problem. The one thing this place has going for it is the view. I guess thats why they charge what they do

It was a good family resort. Closest you can be to the water. Check in was efficient and quick. Thanks to the closing staff letting us use the pool and sauna a little longer.Nearby activities: The resort has activities available for everyone, pool, sauna, jacuzzi, kayaking, SUP.

So far experience has been great. Sophie at the front desk was really helpful with our questions. We were able to check out sleds at no additonal charge and get more towels and blankets for our rooms. The only issues we found were a furnace (they still have other heaters) that didn t work and the bathroom shower doors that don t close all the way. We were pleasantly surprised housekeeping came one day to clean and empty our trash without having to call them.

Enjoyed meeting the new managers. Very pleasant and easy to talk to. In fact everyone we ve dealt with at the resort has been great. Our stay has been everything we expected. Love our little home away from home.Nearby activities: The resort is located on one of the few sandy beaches on the lake. For those who enjoy lake swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. it is an ideal location.Food & drinks: Plenty of restaurants and pubs close by.

The only problem we had was. We couldn't get uber service. That was not the resort's problem however. Great place to stay love the view, very quiet.Walkability: No restaurants really close by to walk to.Had to drive to restaurants and may activities. We had no uber service in the area. At least not that we could get.

Great location on the beach. Not within walking distance of any restaurants. I will probably stay here again the next time I want to spend a few days on the north/east end of the lake.Rooms: Good sized room. Nicely appointed kitchen area. Outdated tile countertops; replace with marble, granite, natural stone, etc. Heating/cooling system a little funky.

Lovely little spot to bring back some old Tahoe vibe. We had a nice one bedroom with a fireplace and a view of the lake. The staff and after hour service was great. The one hour social with spiked cider and cookies was a nice touch to our later afternoon. Hiking trails are right outside your door for snowshoeing or even groomed trails for free cross country skiing. Then take a nice jacuzzi dip in their large spa that's open even in the winter. The kitchen had everything we needed to do a little cooking. Thanks to the staff for hosting us this perfect week.
