Straight forward budget hotel with clean rooms, included parking, a patio with an ocean view on the roof, and easy access to the beach. Borrow chairs or boogie board from the front desk to head over to the beach. The location alone is nice but the hotel itself also was a pleasant experience. We will stay again.Rooms: Clean.Nearby activities: Beach.Safety: Felt safe.Walkability: Close to beach and restaurants.

OMG! This was one of the best places we have stayed for swimming competitions! It was a reasonable distance to Golden West College where the event was held so the 7am pool time was completely doable . The service was amazing and Shaun was exceptional! Our personal schedule didn't allow us to check in until after midnight and he was there to greet us with a smile. We were also able to have an amazing team pizza dinner on the rooftop lounge with amazing sunset views. The beach on one side and harbor yachts on the other. Such a jewel! We will be back! Mahalo Shaun!!!Rooms: Very clean and comfortable. The beds and pillows are like clouds!Nearby activities: You are literally on the beach Safety: We felt like we had our own little studio apartment.Walkability: Everything is within walking distance. There is even a Starbucks across the street!Food & drinks: Great restaurants and bars within walking distance.Noteworthy details: Beautiful just beautiful

This hotel's ratings are very deceiving, I am still trying to figure out how they are so high. As soon as we arrived, we could barely fit our small compact car into any of the parking spots. On the way out of parking lot the vehicle rubs the bottom of the ground due to too much of a decline at the exit. As we entered the lobby we were greeted with the elevator not working. The room's shower had the hot water connection on backwards, it took a while to figure out how to get hot water. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk worker, he recommended my family (which included two small children) take a shower in the parking garage in a shower designed for washing off sand from the beach. The shower door had glue holding the magnets on and a piece of tape at the bottom to attempt to hold the water inside (it did not work and left the floor soaked after each shower) The room was dirty and had scratches on almost all of the furniture. The door had major gaps in it which allowed bugs to enter the room. The air conditioner filters were dirty. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The only advantage it had was its close proximity to the beach. I would recommend using a well established hotel that has higher standards. The house cleaning/maintenance staff were friendly. The front desk worker that we initially dealt with was beyond rude and unhelpful. When I brought the hot water issue to his attention he told me to write a note to the manager with my phone number included. The manager never called me and we went the first day with cold water until we could figure out the issue with the shower.

Hi Sean and staff! We stayed for 2 days it s very cute and I loved the balcony my only complaint is the bed was very hard, I m not a picky person I can deal with things like the other complaints on here but the bed is the most important thing to me when traveling, I love a medium soft bed. Sean was great, very neat place and Woody s dinner down the street was good food!Walkability: Beach is super close and food

Great place just off the beach. Locally owned and operated, good personal touches all throughout. A bit dated, but still a good value.Walkability: Walk right out to the beach.

This place is NEGATIVE star rated. I only put one star because google would not allow me to post this review otherwise. I DO NOT recommend this place! First of all, about 15 min after getting into our room we noticed a terrible stench. When we were putting our drinks in the refrigerator we realized the terrible odor was coming from there. We let the front desk know and they sent maintenance guy. He cleaned the fridge and floor where the stinky water fell onto. My husband asked to be moved to another room but the front guy was very dismissive and said there were no other rooms available. After they cleaned and sprayed tons of strong smelling chemical, my husband, son and I had to step out the rest of the evening because the chemical odor was too strong and it still didnt take away the nasty smell. After traveling all day we just wanted to rest a few hours but we couldn't. Secondly, the toilet seemed to be loose, it moved and wobbled, the hair dryer did not work. The towels and bed sheets looked brown instead of white, the air conditioner had bugs stuck on vent. When I was gonna put my clothes in closet there were dirty towels on the shelf. I could go on and on, I wanted to leave but it was such an inconvenience.Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Staff was fast, helpful, and friendly. Rooms were great and easy to get to. Rates were fair. And it is about 100 yards from the beach.Rooms: Cozy, spacious rooms. I had the Hot tub room with a view of the ocean.Nearby activities: Beach is very close, shops, restaurants, activities all within walking distance.Walkability: A lot of activities and shops in close walking range.

We took our family on a much needed beach getaway. This hotel did not disappoint. The staff were so nice and accommodating, there s a take one leave one section for beach toys and it was so helpful. Check in was seamless and the location was perfect. We loved the rooftop seating. It was the perfect way to end our trip while watching the sunset. My family will definitely be staying here again.

Great location! We checked in and the room smelled horribly of mold, opened windows in hopes it would go away, went to the beach for 4 hours.. came back still the same. Called front desk let him know my concern and he seemed very annoyed, changed rooms but not without a cost. Very disappointed in the customer service, your room smelled like mold so you charge me for another room when inhaling mold can make you sick...That's crazy. Will not be returning.

Very clean and we'll maintained, this facility is in a great neighborhood and 100 meters to the beach. The rooms are spacious (we had a double queen) and outfitted with a sizable fridge and microwave. We enjoyed the rooftop patio which afforded is a great view of the ocean while we ate, hung out etc.Staff was excellent. Friendly and helpful. Their attentiveness and attitudes gave me the impression they were being paid well and cared about what they were doing.There are some sleepy bars and a few restaurants around. Overall a quiet area besides the roadway traffic. (PCH)

Hey beautiful people I love to stay at locations and tell you the most honest review! This place is perfect for the location! Steps away from the beach . Good parking. Close to restaurants and convenient stores .. THE ONE CON IS CLEANLINESS it s not a deal breaker but a heads up ! Especially for the women. BRING YOUR OWN BLANKETS AND TOWELS ! Cleanliness is a 7 But honestly it s worth it ! Don t forget your pancakes before you check out . I ll let you decide how good they taste .

My husband I were having a round trip of California and this hotel was the last of the 10 hotels we stayed at. The price range of all the hotels was more or less the same but the level of this one was 10 times lower than all the others.To begin with, the electric outlet in the bathroom was out of order. At first it worked, then it didn't and made suspicious crackling noise while the light and the fan on the ceiling stopped working as well. We invited the receptionist to have a look and resolve the problem. He switched on and off the lights above the mirror and said "everything is working" leaving us at that.Then, the entrance door of our room was really short and there was a lot of space under it. We could hear all the noise of the other hotel guests passing by, the wind and all the street noise.There was no noise isolation between the rooms either. We couldn't sleep at night because someone in the next room was snoring.All the furniture was rather shabby and very very old, with holes and scratches.The beach that is really at a stone's throw stank of rotten fish and god knows what, while the sand was half normal colour and half dark grey. Taking in consideration that there are no volcanos nearby while there are oil extraction units along the horizon line, along with the stinking breeze we concluded that it's this kind of a beach you'd better avoid if you care about your health. So, the position of the hotel is not its strong point either.A cherry on top: the beach towels they offer are grey-ish instead of white.

The Owner, Sean is So Friendly and Professional and very quick to check you in. His hotel has a Great Location across the parking lot to the beach. I always stay at an Oceanfront room, view is priceless. I leave the balcony doors open all night, to hear the waves crashing. And there is an amazing rooftop patio with another spectacular view. Hot breakfast included, beach amenities included to borrow. I stay here every time I fly back home to visit family.We had June Gloom for the morning hours and a Beautiful sunset at night.

We had such a great time during our stay. Front desk and staff were so friendly and check in/out was a breeze. The location beats anywhere!!! The rooms are clean and have all the basic needs. Breakfast is pancakes, fruits and cereal. We could drive 8 minutes to the pier or walk to one of the many restaurants within half a mile from this location. The roof top is a great place to watch the sunset and the BEST thing is the beach in literally steps behind you and it is so private and beautiful! We will definitely be coming back!

I stay here whenever I visit friends in Sunset Beach or take a cruise out of Long Beach. It's a nice little hotel with a good location if you're into walking around and checking the local shops and sights. It's about a 30 minute drive to/from the cruise terminal in Long Beach so maybe not the best for that but I visit friends too. They have free breakfast, you can't serve yourself, they make it for you. It's pancakes, cereals, danishes, milk, juice and muffins. Not bad but also not filling, would be nice to have some eggs.The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable, I think they're memory foam, we slept great. The 2 rooms that you can see from the lobby on the second floor, I would avoid as you can hear noise from the lobby. I had to make my A/C fan run constantly to drown out the noise.They have a nice balcony if you want to smoke or take in the views.Overall, I really like this hotel and it's location. I will continue to stay here and simply request to not get either of those two rooms.

This was our 2nd stay at Ocean Surf Inn. I truly enjoy this place.It is clean, quiet & family friendly. A very short walk to the beach. They also provide beach chairs, towels & sand toys for the kids.It is also very affordable.I might make this an annual vacation spot.

Beautiful location, the person who checked us in. However the room we stayed smelled like mildew and cleaning product. It was very hard to breath and the room looked very dirty. Couldn t stay because it was very unbearable. The AC didn t work , the vents weren t clean. We had to clean them ourselves and that should not be the guests responsibility.

Stayed here for 2 nights during the week. I don t think we d have made it any longer, as this just wasn t a hotel we could relax in. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean, the rest of the room needed improvement. The bathroom was tiny and dilapidated and the towels were dingy and scratchy. The proximity to the beach was ideal and the beach was not overly crowded, which was great.

I loved this place. I have been to San Diego many times but needed a change. All I needed was a clean room and easy access to the beach. If you wanna chill in a sleepy CA surf town come here! I saw dolphins swimming with all of the kids practicing surf! Many good restaurants and shops nearby! Ralph, Sean and Javier were great! Brand new beds! I could go forever. They really gave me a great welcome to California!

This place is such a gold mine! I spent my birthday here and me and my friends loved it. Nothing too fancy, but perfect if you re young and on a budget like me. I m super lazy, so when the reviewers said the beach was so close to the hotel I was skeptical. They were right. I kid you not, it was less than a 4 minute slow walk!! A beautiful and quiet beach, too!! It s also pretty close to Huntington if you prefer that scene. Nice staff here as well.Another cool thing about this place was the rooftop. We really liked it! It was chill and had a decent view. One recommendation though would be to add more lights up there to make it more lively.The parking was kinda limited, even with the garage. I had to park outside it when I first arrived because it was full. The room was pretty and clean for the most part. One thing I will say though was that we couldn t walk it barefoot or else our feet would be kinda dirty. Other than that, no complaints.Overall, I d recommend this place for a little beach getaway without expecting anything too fancy. I ll definitely be coming back! (:

Shaun is absolutely wonderful.They have ( Shaun has?) done some upgrades, all new mattress, new floors, etc.Small Cafe but has fresh made pancakes, not waffles. Cereals and fresh fruits. Hot drinks and flavored water dispenses all day in the lobby.One block off the beach. Can hear the ocean from my room. Can view the ocean from the rooftop.This is my third time staying here. It gets better and better each time I comeFree parking. Variety of restaurants within walking distance.Just to be clear, this is not a five-star hotel like the Ritz, a five-star rating is for the value we got in relation to the price we paid.Rooms: Clean and comfortable. Desk and table for two included. Two kings. Two chairs and a table on the balcony.Safety: Quiet at night, can hear traffic noise during the day timeHaven't had any trouble during my previous stays.Walkability: Beach is one block behind the inn.Food & drinks: Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.Noteworthy details: The sole elevator is a bit slow.
