Honest mechanic! Brought in my car for engine problems, got the car back same day because the problem seemed simple. However, the engine light came back on the next day. Tam did more diagnostics, identified the real problem, and refunded me for the day before without me asking. Readily admitting to misidentifying the issue and refunding services that were unnecessary means I trust Tam and that he's my mechanic from now on!

I highly recommend this car mechanic shop! I had a suspicion that my brake pads needed replacement, so I popped by today. The mechanic quickly inspected my brakes and told me that I still had 20% left on the brake pads, meaning they didn't need to be replaced yet. I was really impressed with the mechanic's honesty and integrity. He didn't try to convince me to replace my brake pads just to make money. I will definitely be going back to this shop for all my future car maintenance needs.Service: Brakes

I have been a customer for many years and Fair Oaks Auto Care has never let me down. From simple services like oil change, smog test and tire replacement to complicated repairs like knock sensor replacement and belt replacement, this business has always been super straight forward, honest and provided the most cost effective solutions while providing top notch service. They don't try to sell you on unnecessary things like some other shops. Tam is great! I went in suspecting my thermostat needed replacing. Tam diagnosed the issue to be very low coolant. Honest work, competitive pricing and great service. There is a reason why he is so busy. I bring all three of my vehicles to him for all my service needs.

NEEDLESS SCAM ON PETTY STUFF: The owner (or attendant) was misogynistic and gaslit me on some needless, petty issue. He offered me a discount if I bought an extra soda, did not give me a discount, and then lied through his teeth to me when I made a comment. I did the math on a calculator to confirm he lied, and then informed him I would no longer spend $100/wk on gas here. How can they be trusted on something bigger if they conducted themselves like this on something so small and inconsequential? Yes, it's a soda, but they do auto repair and sell gas. They probably cheat their customers wherever they can.Don't come here if you are a woman - I'm sure they will size you up to see what they can get. It really sucks to be randomly gaslit on something tiny. I wouldn't subject myself to this on something like my car.

Great service of my brake pads and rotors by Tam and his team. They quote resonable prices and go above and beyond to make sure customer is happy. Unlike other big chains they wont scare and sell you on anything.

Very good service. My car's right front door couldn't be opened Sonny got it done within a few hours and also explained how he did it. He quoted me a pretty low price initially but later said it didn't require too much work, and lowered the price even further. Very satisfied with their service and efficiency!

On New Year s Eve, our ignition coils went bad and we needed to head back home the next day. Given all auto parts stores were closed already for the holidays, if we were to order a new part we would be stranded until January 2nd. Amazingly enough the owner drove a similar car where he was able to take parts out of his own car and get us back on the road. Instead of taking advantage of our situation, he also gave us a stunning deal on labor to help us out! Honesty and cares for his customers like family!

I spent about $1k here over a week to fix a broken motor mount ($80 part). The story is as follows:I ran over a pothole and immediately noticed a loud clunking noise and vibrations when accelerating. Very few miles were driven after this and was brought to this shop soon after. Originally they had diagnosed it as a broken axle, but only the axle boot was damaged. They replaced the OEM axle with a 3rd party axle. They told me they fixed the issue but did not properly test the vehicle. I paid, then immediately felt the issue again before making it out of the parking lot. After their 2nd attempt, they found the broken motor mount. I tested it myself this time before paying. An ABS issue came up and my ABS brakes were disabled. Brought it back for a 3rd time. The axle boot was damaged again and they gave me a hard time about the warranty not covering labor costs. This was after only a few miles of careful driving (as the brakes were not fully functioning). After some haggling they agreed to repairing the damaged boot, and they found a bent piece of plastic, which they removed, and never got a replacement for due to time constraints. It seems to protect some electronics. They said they also cleaned the tone ring and I requested an OBS reset as well which they did. After some more driving, the ABS issue seemed to have been resolved. However, the steering was way off, I had to hold the wheel a good 30 degrees to the left to keep the vehicle straight at all times. The engine re-seating and 3rd party axle installation must have been in a different position. They were unable to do any calibrations, so I had to go to the dealer for a wheel alignment. That was another $200, and it's still not perfectly straight, still requiring a bit of left turning to keep the vehicle straight.My only advice here is to learn enough about cars to self diagnose your issue properly before bringing it here. I'm sure they do a good job with simpler tasks and probably at a good price too. The dealer is not any better either. Also make sure to do a long enough test drive of your vehicle before paying them any money.

Changed my engine air filter here. Literally got it done in 5 mins. Called in advance to make sure they had the part, the owner was kind enough to look through the inventory to see if they had the part for my model. That saved a lot of time.

Saved my car for a reasonable price! Did everything faster than any body shop in my life. I am very sad that I had to move from Sunnyvale but will come back to them for non emergency services for sure.

Very long wait. I guess he couldn't help it because of the rush.Didn't take the time to look at my engine or give me many pointers and said to come back later when there was no rush so he could charge $70 to do a full check up.Went to west auto care nearby and got much better service.

Very honest, straightforward and knowledgeable. Very reasonable pricing with clear explanation of each item on invoice. Used to pay too much for repairs at Midas, so this was a nice find.

The guys are so good! I need a battery replacement, and boss help me with detection. Then he told me it is still under warranty and I should come to a dealer to get a free new battery! Thanks this man to help me save money!

A great oil gas station on the way to fairoaks sk8 park. Has small store with drinks, no alcohol, nice workers. The garage attached is diff people but I used to take my classic porsche there to get smogged they a gold star I think but check 1st great guys there also, and they FILL PROPANE GRILL TANKS !!! At the gas station but NO Carwash. This will be duplicated for the gas attached gas station

Great place to go if you want honest service and a good price for the service you receive. The owner Sonny is also a wonderful guy and always goes out of his way to assess the problem with your car and then come up with a reasonably priced solution for your repair!! Great place to go and ask for Sonny and he will help you out!
