Bob is so friendly! He's been answered our question patiently and checked our old mini_van asap at 7/2/23. Finally they repaired our Sienna and changed the key-part. We drove it and gone back home carefully. Thank you Bob.

I had the best experience here. I had the low tire pressure light come on while driving on Highway 89 toward South Lake. Because my tire had recently been patched for a nail, I wanted to get it checked by professionals before continuing my road trip. I looked online and saw a good review for Five Star. When I arrived, the kind couple immediately said one of their mechanics could take a look. Bob, one of the most helpful people I have run into in awhile, checked all of my tires. Not only did he remedy the problem, but he shared valuable knowledge on how to deal with tires in general! I left with such gratitude to him and the whole staff for helping me feel safe to get back on my journey. They all felt like angels to me. I would recommend Five Star Automotive next time you re in South Lake.

excellent job--and service--My 1965 Gt High Performance is 1 of 200 left--I only trust 5-star w/my car; Steve is brilliant and knows these old Mustangs.

Had a rear brake job done. Price was consistent with other shops in the area. Got me in and out within 5 hours. Great guys work here.

Steve and crew did a great job on my clutch. As a long-time customer, I cannot think of any repairs on any of our vehicles that wasn't done well. Everyone has "their" mechanic that is "the best", and Five Star does that for us. Very professional yet down to earth. If you haven't found a good mechanic yet, give them a try!!!

Great service, steve and bob were awesome! Pulled in looking to have front end noise checked out and steve was able to squeeze me in that day! I have piece of mind now knowing there is nothing seriously wrong. Highly recommend!!

This place did an amazing job for me. They are honest, helpful and fixed the car beautifully. I contacted them based on Google reviews to fix my college kid's car while he is working the resort's in the area for the summer. Steve was helpful, thorough and I was able to have the car back quickly, and most of all, working correctly! Thanks guys.... Highly recommend your business.

Steve really took care of me today. I lost my brakes on my Jeep and he came through and got us back on the road.I would highly recommend Steve and his men.

I have been going to Steve at Five Star for several years. I have had an Acura, Mercury, and Pontiac. He is a very good mechanic and goes right to the problem. My experienced mechanic friend and I like him for his honesty and integrity. A lot of other locals that I have met take their cars to him, also. And if you are a woman, he won't take advantage of what you may not know. This is someone you can wholeheartedly trust. He doesn't over-charge and will tell you if services on some things are not necessary yet (or at all).

We had an emergence fix while we were up at Tahoe on ouur way home from a dr appointment .I called right when they were closing and told them we needed a water pump for a 98 jeep grand cherokee 5.9. The owner Steve was great we were in and out by 1:00 pm we highly recommend Five Star Automotive . I will definitely will go back for any repair we may need if we are up in SLT. Thank You for the great service .

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience with Five Star Automotive. We were only in town for a short time and they were able to fit us in, do great work, and save our trip to Yosemite.Thanks so much.

This is the most terrible automotive repair shop and the wosrt place I was served. I stongly recommend not to be even there.We had air conditioner problem during our lake tahoe visit and goolged this family-own place. We left our car there for check-up and got a call from there. They said more than 1700 bucks for repalcing air compression. We decided to just pick it up, not fixing because we felt it is too expensive. We were there to pick up our car and they charged $154 only for check-up. We felt it is expensive and said to them it is expensive for only check-up . Then they said you signed in and you should pay or I took your car by showing our car key. Then, we concluded we paid for that because we donot want to ruin our vacation in lovely lake tahoe.After that, we were stunned by their next comment. They said you give me hard time and I give hard time to you cash only with angry face. We do not have $154 buck in cash. We have to go to bank. We asked to pay it by check or credit card. They said no, cash only. Go to bank. We will close at 5pm. We were very frustrated by that. We went to bank and withdrawed the cash with fee. We paid for that shortly because we really wanted to leave this terrible service place. One thing we have not proven yet is after we visited this place, one window of our car, which had been working fine, was broken. We donot have evidence they did because we did not record it. However, we canot elelminate the possibility that they did. Anyway, it is now ok because we escaped this terrible place.However, we left our comment here for others. If you are new to south lake tahoe, please donot go this place not to ruin your vacation in this lovely lake.

I took my 2003 Toyota Corolla into 5 star when my check engine light went on. They charge 91 dollars just to hook my machine up to their machine. I was then told they were going to call me at 4, after not receiving a phone call i called myself.The guy that answered was clueless.He couldn't tell me what was wrong with my car, then he finally found the paper work and proceeded to tell me my catalytic converter is bad. Hearing this, I had questions as I am not familiar with cars, hence why I take my car to the autoshop.I expect my questions to be answered when taking my car to a "professional"After not answering my questions I asked for a quote to replace my catalytic converter, the guy was still clueless and the only thing he could tell me was that its VERY expensive to fix, over $1000.I hung up picked up my car and the next day took it to a different mechanic and the other mechanic told me the converter doesnt need to be replaced and the thermometer needs to be switched to a colder setting. Swapping thermometers at KC's Automotive cost me less than a $100, 5 star automotive wanted to charge me over $1600 to replace my catalytic converter that DID NOT need to be replaced.This place doesnt care about you, or your car they want MONEY.

The serpentine belt on my 2000 Ford Taurus was squeeking, so I took my car to Five Star in July 2014. $160.00 later they replaced the belt and claimed the problem was corrected. Within a week the belt was squeeling again but now the car was overheating as well, since I live in the SF bay area I couldn't get my car back to Tahoe right away, so a little over month later I took the vehicle back in Sept 2014, and this time they claimed other problems had to be fixed in order to stop the serpentine belt from making noise.After paying almost $600.00 which included another new belt, within a couple of days, the squeeling was back. I took the car back in Oct 2014, and after holding my car for a day, I got a call that they had to order another part and would have to replace the belt again. That was enough for me, I called them back and told them to hold any further repairs. I picked up my squeeling car, and disputed their charges to my bank. I will never give them my business again. Way too expensive and unreliable.

Booked a week and a half in advance, came in first thing the morning of the booking and was told he wouldn't be able to see me for the next week. Would have been nice if I could have had a heads up?
