I went there last night and I slipped and fell in the parking lot... I knew it was going to happen because I was stuck walking and I knew that the temperature got down low enough that it would cause an ice skating rink... I totally bailed but then when I walked in the door and I told the guy I had just fell out there he went straight outside and put Ice melt all over the ground . I didn't even ask him. He's a great guy. I know that the website says 24 hours but if you want to use the bathroom or the store you got to be there before 9:00

I bought a gray tanktop that says Lake Tahoe and also has a contour of a montain and trees for $16.99, what a deal.It actually cost me $18.22 because of the 7.25% sales that, still a bargain!We also bought some gas, beef jerky and a postcard.Also, lovely wooden canopy, but not allowed to use chain installation underneath.Strongly recommend.

We came to get gas and use the restroom and the male working right now seen us plus a few others who wanted to go into the store then turned his lights off and walked away. He looked right us and then walked away. This was 940pm, he didn t want to say whether it was closed or anything, just looked at us, locked the door & walked away lol thanks I guess

We came here to have a rest and grab a quick bite+something hot to drink. We were very pleased with the quality of the hot chocolates we had, despite they were machine-made. The staff was friendly as well.

The highway was shut down. We were diverted to this gas station. I already had chains thankfully or else they were going to charge me $100 for them (which is a TOTAL ripoff in the first place). So we pulled up to where the pumps were so we could see since it was lit. The entire parking lot was pitch black. The guy came up to us and told us we needed to move to the dark ass lot to put them on. I was like I ll buy gas and he was like no move. So I asked if he would help us put them on and he said he would for $30. I was like no I kept putting then on myself. He then came up to me and was like move or I m calling the cops.I was severely mistreated. This place is legit highway robbery. If I could rate this place lower than one star I would.

This place is a total rip off. We were pulled over by the California Highway Dept. saying roads were closed to the Nevada line....so we were diverted to that crusty little gas station for tire chains. It was only slushy out, not really snowing....anyway, I was helping my daughter move from Oakland, California back to Topeka, Ks. after going thru a divorce. She was strapped for EXTRA cash & I was too, but she forked out $200 for tire chains for the moving truck & her car. They wanted $30 per vehicle to put them on....so I said I'd do it. Took me an hour & I was on the last tire of the two vehicles. Then my daughter said she seen a snow plow truck go by. 5 minutes after that...the station attendant came out & said the roads were open...we have to take off the chains. So I asked him since we never used them, would he take them back.....NOPE! All sales final. No refunds! I was really mad, but couldn't do a thing. Daughter was crying. She needed the $200 for gas & rooms between there & Kansas. Some other travelers were women who paid the $30 to have them install the chains & when they were told the roads were open, the station attendant charged them ANOTHER $15 to take them back off. Highway robbers is what they were. Highway robbers. SOME people really SUCK! I wouldn't do business with this place ever again if I could avoid it at all costs.

Had my truck break down at kingvale at 10 at night during chain control. Walked into this gas station to see if anyone had a lug wrench. While they didn't have a lug wrench, the attendant Dillon (hope I spelled that right) went above and beyond to help us any way he could, let us stay in the gas station for 2 hours to stay warm and made us feel welcome doing so, helped us ask other travelers if they could help us get this tire back on my truck. If you find yourself needing anything while driving up Donner pass, I'd make your stop at this station. Amazing employee you've got there Shell!

The man working the night shift gave us the local tip. Give this man a raise. No chains required. Saved us $300 or a night of our trip. So much appreciation!

Complete chaos. Instead of having a highly visible bathroom closed sign, they have a highly visible restroom sign and just have the doors locked so everyone keeps strong and walking around looking for it.

Friendly, open late and delicious food. Frys to die for. Excellent, garlic and parmesan cheese. BBQ'D specials on Friday and Saturday nights .
