Great simple place to pull over and touch the snow.Driving from SF to Reno we were looking for a place to pull over where our kid could touch snow for the first time. Just past this gas station there is a little road we pulled over into and parked for a few minutes, just across from the hotel. There were some pretty pine trees and we took a short walk down the road which had snow and ice on it. Whole thing took 5min.We weren't looking for tubing or any snow sports, just city people wanting to touch snow. Soda springs is the highest elevation so there was a bit of snow here and not really anywhere else.We didn't stop at the gas station but based on the other reviews it sounds lovely!

Why am I spending my time commenting on a gas station? Because it has the kindest, most considerate employees around.The prices are kinda bad, but also pretty good for being right off the highway along the 80. Objectively, there is nothing exceptional about this place - it has an average convenience store, bathrooms, and 4 pumps. But the people inside are so sweet!It s worth spending your money here, even if it isn t the best price or the most convenient.

My husband and I stopped in early one morning during the last week of November for a hot chocolate and bathroom break while heading to Alabama from Oregon. It was a nice, clean store with a helpful and friendly employee. We even got to see the Disney Family who were just hanging around inside the store. Very cool station! I'm so happy we stopped.

Called just to asked about weather conditions and was treated extremely rudely! She could have politely said they are not able to provide information instead of telling me not to call back and hanging up!!

Just came in for some snacks for the kids. Super friendly staff, greated us on entrance. Small but enough choices on snacks and drinks. Nice small town feel to the place. Prices were very reasonable, they were the only place around, and could have charged more, but prices were very reasonable.

Yesterday I locked my keys in truck in the parking lot. Attendant inside, Jolene, was so nice and helpful. She called a tow truck company 3 times to get them to help me. Thanks Joleen...mama Sharon

Whatever girl was working on January 8th 2024 at 10:30am was on her phone when I walked in and flipped me off when I was walking out.

Very small gas station. The attendant inside was very helpful. We had to get out here for a while and let the dogs walk for a bit. Thankfully just missed the snow. Very scenic, prices were still reasonable. I would recommend it.

This might be the best gas station I've ever been in. The store was very clean and well kept which was important to my family with a pandemic in effect. The shelves were stocked, bathrooms were clean, and the woman behind the counter whose name was Leslie was so kind and helpful it made my visit here that much better. It doesn't hurt that she was cute too

This place was a lifesaver when my family's car blew a tire and needed to replace the tire and chain. The employees were so helpful and friendly. They were very welcoming why we waited for the work to be done. This is our Go-To place for our stop along the way to gas up, get snack, maintenance and to stretch our legs. Great place!

Stopped for gas on the summit and had the absolute worst experience here. The restroom was beyond unsanitary with fecal matter everywhere, needless to say it was unusable. After buying some snacks inside I parked my car on their side lot and when I began to walk around to stretch my legs I was confronted by a very angry man who told me I was NOT ALLOWED to park in their lot and that he would call the tow trucks for my car. I just would like to warn everyone that comes to this gas station to beware of the horrors I had to face.

After spending money on gas and food... Guy in white Toyota truck, claimed he was the owner... Yelled at two young men for parking in an empty parking lot. No sign saying no parking .. an angry man. I would not recommend buying or spending money on anything here!

Clean and well stocked little gas station right off the highway with the absolute friendliest service. The woman working the front desk was so helpful and warm. I will definitely stop here if I'm ever passing through.

Not a massive selection of snacks but fairly well priced gas. It's the only gas station you'll see until you get down the hill so in a pinch it's a good place.The attendent/cashier is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area as well which is a bonus.

Best gas station in town. Do not blame them because one customer's did not know their tire size. Also what is unsaid is the customer installed the chains and used them....then tried to return them! Totally not the facilities fault.

I was here 21 years ago when I was a truck driver, theres a cool old west bar in the hotel across the "parking lot" i stopped 3 times in my 1 year while over the road and I'll never forget the views and the air smelled like a pine air fresher and I had this great local beef jerky on a stick from the station.

WOW!!! I WANT TO THANK THE CASHIER THAT LET US STAY IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN OUR CAR BROKE DOWN, & WE HAD TO WAIT 3 HRS FOR A TOW TRUCK, BUT IT WAS REALLY AWESOME TO SEE THE TRAIN & TALK TO PEOPLE THAT STOP FOR GAS, AND I GOT TO VIST W/ SOME FOLKS, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR BROKE DOWN, IT WAS ICY OUT AND SOME SNOW THIS WAS A COUPLE WEEKS AGO BUT FINALLY THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER CAME LOADED UP THE CAR, & WE GOT HOME SAFE.... AMEN THANK YOU ALL

Always decent gas prices and a nice selection of snacks and beef jerky (including some local brands not found elsewhere). Cashiers have always been friendly and helpful

Worst kind of highway thieves. Sell chains they know won't fit then refuse to refund or exchange . They have correct chains but insist "no refunds, or exchanges " ,"so you'll have to pay another $90". Twenty something cashier with drunken beer buddies for security thinks he's king of the snow and can extract whatever he wants from the "cidiots" who didnt come prepared. Truckee isn't that far and real service can be had there. Pass this clip joint by.

Pretty clean outside restroom for a gas station. People getting gas were very polite too. All wearing masks or kept their distance. Very surprised.

Gas is over $6 /gal. Cashier was super nice with her green and lavender hair and nice smile.

Just stopped to use the bathroom, so my expectations were low. Fortunately they were clean, stocked and no need to purchase or ask for a key. Thank you!

Very clean safe place to be the prices were good customer service was excellent I really don't remember going here for the most part but I do remember the person that was working there and he was really nice and their bathrooms are really clean for it to be a gas station in the middle of nowhere LOL

An absolute lifesaver during the winter months! Needed chains on my Prius- $89 out the door $40 more for installation- peace of mind is what Donner Summit Gas provides to unprepared travelers during a snowstorm.....thank you thank you thank you!
