Closed today.*Short bird adventure just across the quaint road. (Not closed not rainy. You have two areas. One below near road seemed very accessible for four wheels.(nice)The second is a beautiful hike up to a really nice bird observation tower at the top local bird information and bats . Along the path there are plaques posted information.Stay safe and enjoy your adventure.

Beautiful sanctuary with very helpful staff! Can get really close to hummingbirds on the porch!! Didn't see many other birds but this was probably due to limited amount of time there.

A very cute place. Lots of birds specially hummingbirds. The harding truck trail doesn t have much shade so be careful in the heat

So pretty. Loved our time here. Free. Donations can be made in the gift shop. If you have kids the is a lot to do in the gift shop it's like a discovery center also. There is creek access, birds to see, beautiful trees. Pack out and pack in. It's a zero waste facility.

Not too big but so much fun! Especially for kiddos! There is a small but super good arranged science center, a lot things to explore and learn for kids . Trails are good too.

I took my school, The Nature Preschool, on a field trip to Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in the spring of 2023.Our tour guide was experienced with working with children and had reasonable expectations of them. She gave us a tour while incorporating a child friendly game of "What animal lives here". The students, aged 2-5, were engaged and exited the whole time.I would recommend a class field trip, touring the beautiful grounds alone, or a family day.Picnic area: We packed snacks and enjoyed them in the shaded picnic table area. It was requested that we pack everything (trash) to go, which we did.

Wonderful experience and lovely little hike. The bird watching balcony and gift shop are wonderful and educational. This area is NOT DOG FRIENDLY. This is a place to watch birds so leave your 4 legged friend at home as they will scare away the birds. This area is a WONDER for children as thebgift shop has plenty of hands on guides to learn about the area. Definitely worth the drive but be mindful as the road to get here is extremely narrow and through a sweet and small community so go SLOW and be mindful. If bringing a snack please be mindful not to litter, pack in and pack out and try your best not to bring single use plastics.Restrooms: There are restrooms available next to the gift shop.Dog-friendliness: DO NOT BRINGS PETS. THIS IS A SANCTUARY not a dog park.

Cool little place to visit. It has a small Southern California wild life museum, trails and a bird watching area.

Ok, I haven't been able to actually visit the sanctuary. It's been closed since I've moved to the area. I decided to take a drive and was excited to see that the sanctuary is being reopened! When? I'm not sure, but I grabbed some photos for those interested in an update! Just being in the area gives a sense of calm.

This is a special gem that is easy to get to and to get around. I enjoy visiting for photography. Access is easy and a few show strolls around the sanctuary yield good results. It can be busy with hard parking on busy weekends. Smile and walk a bit, it will be ok!Make sure to leave a small donation at the gate, it helps.

This is one of my favorite places to get away from the rat race. It's a beautiful drive into Modjeska Canyon and the bird sanctuary is at the very end of the road with limited parking. The sanctuary is well kept and there's a variety of bird species that come through here. There's even a little museum across from the sanctuary. But the main attraction for me is the canyon behind the museum. If you go up the Harding Truck trail about 1 mile, you will see a road drop down into a valley. Go down to the streambed, turn right, and follow the hiking trails past the Sycamore trees that guard the canyon. If you hike far enough, there are swimming holes with tree swings and waterfalls. Plenty of flora and fauna, too.

Orange County s best kept secret. If you love bird watching (especially hummingbirds), enjoy some solitude and just feel like disconnecting from the craziness, this is the place to be! Not too far from most places in OC, and nicely tucked away in the Santa Ana mountains, get out and feel the sounds, breeze and quietness of this eclectic sanctuary. It s totally worth it (and costs nothing)!

We really liked this location. It's free to visit, there are plenty of little things for kids to do. The small trail is nice and there are a ton of birds in this area. It is a nice drive out here, pretty chill. The volunteers and employees are friendly. There are a few hikes to do as well.I would bring a sack lunch and picnic, it is a great place to chill for a bit.

Disappointed!!! If you got there for there Butterfly or Fairies! There could have been so much more done, for there Fairy walk! We could not find the 4th sad fairy home. And Butterflies, where not existant there. But for everyone, that enjoys birds, bugs, cactuses and wildlife, this is a cute little place. It's close to many trails, so not a lost.

This is a wonderful place for a nice family hike. The river was flowing so my little one waded in. There were a few people visiting, but we still had quiet solitude that we were looking for.The bird watching porch had so many different birds. The chairs were comfy and again even though there were people the quiet wildlife viewing was achieved. The gift shop was great and the docent was so helpful. She was talking to my son and really making all the nature facts interesting.Picnic area: Plenty of picnic tables by the gist shop/nature center. Also a few places inside the reserve

This is a most serene unique place.Birds of every possible species here inches away. A shaded glen custom fit for birds and plant life and even an old tortoise. Its buried quietly at the end of Modjeska Canyon just 10 miles from Foothill Ranch. For kids a dream come true. For adults a step away from the hectic life. For those in love a perfect dating outing. Its free and much to see and do.Check out the special observation niche tucked away with stunning birds feeds within arms reach. Totally quiet. You'll love this place and return over and over again.Big 5 stars here.

We spend 1,5 hours in this sanctuary. Flowing creek makes you relax . You may see blue birds and spend time at the bird porch . The museum is small but educational . Kids could find something to explore and buy gifts.

Not my first time there, not going to be my last. Little garden full of native plants, with stream running trough it, an excellent museum and clean restrooms. Thanks to those who maintain all of this.

Easily worth a visit. The birds and plants and guides are all special. This facility is run by Cal State Fullerton and I really, really enjoy coming here. The bird in the photo is a Dark-Eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis). You have to watch the ground to see these cute little guys.

Its a great place to birdwatch, has great little trails for kids, with local botanical garden. The Harding Truck Trail is not too far for those diehard hikers. 19 miles through the mountains.
