My wife and I were traveling South on I-5 when all of a sudden we hear a loud bang and our check engine light comes on, saying reduced engine power. Luckily we were only a few miles from Brooks. When I pulled in, it was clear they were very busy. We were on our way to a good friend's wedding and reality started to set in that we may not be able to make it.The manager, Dave, was extremely friendly and helpful. Him and another mechanic were able to take a look and diagnose the issue within about 30 minutes of our arrival. On Dave's recommendation, we took a quick walk around the local city park while they went to work. When we came back, they informed us that a few parts needed to be replaced. They had already ordered them with overnight shipping. We booked a hotel and Dave was kind enough to drive us over himself. By the time we had to check out in the morning, they had completed the repairs and picked us up from the hotel in our own vehicle. We were back on the road before noon and thankfully, will be able to still make our friends wedding. My wife and I are still blown away at how phenomenal their service was. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you!!

I took my Chevy Kodiak here for its first oil change after getting a completely new motor installed. I tried a few other shops in Mount Shasta and they sent me packing because of the height of the vehicle. I supplied the oil and the filter and they only charged me $35 and that included tightening all 32 of my lug nuts to the correct specifications. I was concerned that they had some low star ratings but it does not reflect on how they operate. Everything was done within 45 minutes of dropping the truck off.Service: Oil change

I am very pleased that I got to do business with Brooks. Dave, the manager, identified my problem, treated me with respect and dignity and I am extremely pleased with my outcome. Treat these professionals with the respect they deserve and you will receive it.I am a disabled vet and my tow vehicle encountered a significant problem. I could have been stranded and exploited. This business did the opposite and instead, treated me like family. I can t express how much this means to me. Thank you Brooks crew, especially Dave. Great people.

This is a positive review by one very grateful chick after a first-time, day-long visit.Picture this: single female, traveling alone in her converted bus-home, breaks down enroute to a high-powered writer's workshop. Every day she's stuck = lost money, and worse: lost opportunities. These guys - Kevin (owner), Roger (manager), Joe (expert) & others - did everything they could to take care of the issues (yep, there were multiple: eroded spark plugs causing misfires, leaking A/C), along with proactively cleaning & fixing stuff that should've been taken care of a long time ago. They kept me informed at every stage, let me make key decisions, were transparent about the costs, and accepted my AmEx.Everyone at Brooks was kind, personable, hardworking, and dog-friendly.Added to these accolades is the fact that this is where the local ambulances are serviced (!), and when a truck loaded with a crane got stuck on the railroad tracks (running in front of the shop), Kevin was one of the guys providing ideas on how to get unstuck.Next door is a hot rod fixer-upper, and in the space after that is where you can get your tires.One-stop shopping, people.

On our way back from camping we had an issue with the parking brake on our 2019 VW Tiguan - tow truck towed our car to this shop. The towing guy was great but I do wish he would have been honest and told us that this shop doesn t do work on our type car that way we could have towed it to a shop that does!Anyways, shop was closed when car was dropped off. Next day I called multiple times to see if they had a diagnosis - they never called me back. On the 2nd day I called to say I was picking up my car since no work had been done and that s when they told me they didn t have the computer or equipment to fix my car and I needed to take it to the dealership. They charged me $60 for that and they basically did nothing to the car. I wish they would have been honest - straight forward from the beginning. Instead of finding out multiple calls and days later. So if you have a similar car: STAY AWAY. Unless you just have flat tire!

All I can say is they towed my truck for a terrible gas station. It cost me 220 dollars because I had a flat tire. Could've been cheaper but they are a business too. They were helpful and friendly. Thanks for the 220 dollar air fill on my tire. The gas station was the problem as these guys were stern but friendly and helpful. Sorry we didn't meet under better circumstances.

My car spent 3 days there for just diagnostics, I had to constantly chase them for updates the hear at the end that they don t have the software to work on my car and pointed me to the dealer, all this ended up being $300 of wasted money without any work being performed on my car.

My car pooped out on me last week and I had it towed here because of my prior great experience with Brooks. My partner and I came here before for a new battery, and also got snow tires here. We had excellent customer service--very friendly and helpful.Turns out my old Honda needed a new starter. They fixed her up and the price was very reasonable. And once again I was provided with excellent customer service. The car runs great once again and I am very happy with my experiences here.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Battery, Oil change

Super helpful, fast service and nice people. However the estimate was insanely expensive! $1000.00 to change spark plugs and coils WTH! Parts were $290.00 it took me two hours in my driveway to do it. Oh well.

We arrived in Dunsmuir late afternoon Thursday- after after a 250 mile drive. Had just had extensive work on vehicle where we'd come from. We needed the getaway, but I had to be back those 250miles for important meetings Monday morning. As I turned around from check in, I saw steam erupting from car, and reasons for it were not visible when I lifted hood. Friday morning I learned the local shop couldn't see me until Monday-not an option for me.That shop said Brooks-6 miles away-was the next closest shop. For all the right reasons- and then some- Brooks turned out to be the Right shop!- great service! From their expediting my 3A tow to an honest and correct diagnosis- my repair being done before Friday finished and a fair price for all my service...Very happy and felt lucky.Would recommend to any traveller in need.Good honest people- and good honest service and rates.A place to trust for a wayward traveller!*****.Service: Engine repair

Was coming down the Siskiyous to do some work in Mt. Shasta as it's hard for them to find technicians in the area and as I was coming down the mountains it became very difficult to shift into gears. Called them as I was on the highway and they made time for me very quickly. Very friendly staff and they helped me with my suspected problem very quickly. Awesome crew!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Went in most recently for an alignment. Everyone says Brooks is pricey, but in my experience with them they are knowledgeable, professional, and totally worth it.

I had an engine light issue while traveling from Oregon to California that was supposedly fixed prior to leaving. We were 8 hours into our drive and had 9 to go. We happened by this place and I was never so glad! They took such good care of us! They identified the issue, gave me all the info so I could make an informed decision, and got my vehicle in and completed within the same morning!!! They helped me be able to still get my work done while they worked on my car and occupy my kids by informing us of the park down the road (Mt. Shasta Park). They allowed me to charge my laptop too! They really seemed to go above and beyond. When the work was finished, on time btw, they easily explained what had happened and why without any disrespect. The charge was below estimate and they gave me their contact info in case I had any trouble down the road.If we lived near this area, they would be my go to shop! Friendly, fair, competent, knowledgeable, and really cool choppers and old vehicles on site.

After a 10 hr drive home, we picked up a nail on I-5 & got a stripped stud. Not only did they have the Subaru part we needed, they were able to get us in right away to fix our tire & stud, as well as get us back on the road within an hour, for a reasonable price.

Had the secondary air intake pump go out on my Tundra while I was driving through the area. Truck went into Limp Mode - NOT fun in the mountains - and I got it to Brooks. My 1994 Mazda Miata's steering got very loose in my roadtrip, so I had to stop in Mount Shasta. The guys here took good care of my baby. At first it was difficult to find parts. Jeff would call to keep me updated on the search for parts. The final price they charged me was lower than the initial estimate and the car is working nicely now. Thanks for an excellent job!

Great experience. My air conditioner was blowing hot air and I was very stressed about it. And stressed about how much it might cost to fix it. Got in the same day they checked it out they fixed the problem and I was on the road very quickly. Super happy they were able to fit me in today and really appreciate their professionalism. Plus they're pretty funny

We were traveling through this remote area and found it hard to find a reputable repair shop that was able to work on the transmission on our GMC truck. They came highly recommended and also were very responsive and professional along the way. They communicated, did the best they could and helped us get back on the road. Kevin (owner) was very helpful, but you could also tell that the team he has worked together to provide a pleasurable and trustworthy experience. They even told us to stop by back when we are traveling through or at least honk to say hi! We will visit this team again. Thank you guys for your help!

These guys are amazing! I was traveling home and over Shasta when my battery light came on. I pulled in and from the moment I stepped in they were helpful, honest, quick and efficient. Thank you to Dave and his team for helping me get back on the road and for helping make my overnight stay smooth and quick. I hope to never see you all again but if i am ever in need and in the area I will definitely go to you. Anyone in need of auto care will be in good hands at Brooks Auto Care.

My family was visiting Mount Shasta a few weeks back and our "check engine" light came on the night before our trip back home. Without knowing anything about the area, I took a gamble on Brooks. I showed up well before they opened, hoping they could squeeze us in as soon as they opened. At 10 minutes to 8:00, one of the guys came out with a scanner and asked what the problem was. I told him about the light. He scanned the car, explained the problem and told me the car was safe to drive back to Washington.I really appreciate their customer service and would recommend them to anybody passing through the area.

While driving south on I-5 near Black Butte the fuel pump went out on our 2001 Chevy Silverado. Called AAA and got a tow to Brooks Automotive In Shasta City at about noon. They were able to get the new pump, after testing to verify and install it by closing time at 5:00. Lucky for us or it was an overnight stay in a local motel. Also lucky I had installed an access panel in the bed of the truck so the tank didn t have to be dropped down to replace the pump. Saved SOME 2 plus hours of labor - and the mechanic loved it.The waiting room we had to sit for several hours in the tire shop area. In that time several customers came in. On more than one occasion the manager after checking out the job told the customers they didn t need new tires because they were still in good shape. We ll take another look when you come in for the next oil change . This seemed to be the policy of the company - its a good one. The term is Business Ethics !Sooo if your in the Shasta City or Weed California area and have a car or truck problem, Books Complete Auto Repair is my strong suggestion. Excellent!

We were passing through Mount Shasta on a mini road trip with my elderly mother and her friend when we were notified our headlight was out and our turn signal. Brooks got us right in and offered the air conditioned waiting room at the tire store for us to wait. It was less than an hour when we were notified the car was done. When I went to pay, he informed me the headlight was just unplugged, so they plugged it in and replaced the turn signal light. This is an upstanding honest repair shop and I highly recommend.

We couldn't get our car fixed here due to scheduling (we're on vacation), but the staff was very informative and gave us tips about our next steps for repair. There's something to be said about a business who goes the extra mile.

I usually change my own oil, but I didn't have my tools with me this time. I took my car to Brooks and was very pleased with their service. They are fast, courteous, and affordable. I'd be happy to go back again.

Chris helped my wife and I with a flat tire after he had already been at work on a Tuesday til 6:30pm (supposed to be done by 5pm). He spent a lot of his time until about 7:30pm (he had other prior obligations too) helping us out of a bad situation. Chris was honest, quick and creative in his approach to helping us in our time of need... way after AFTER hours. We cannot thank him and his lil brother for their immense help that day! Quality people make all the difference in the world and we highly recommend this company. Thank you again Chris!

I hear this place is recently under new ownership, so I m not entirely surprised that despite my prior experience of friendly staff, my latest experience with them rubbed me the wrong way.TLDR; They committed (mild?) fraud and refused my refund until I threatened legal action. Beware. My 05 Outback was in for a cooling inefficiency issue while my partner was borrowing it. They called her back after taking a look, saying they were unable to reproduce the issue but suspected it was due to the improper ratio of coolant to water they found in the radiator. However, I had explained to them on our initial phone call that the reason for the improper (in their words: unsafe) coolant ratio was that when I initially noticed the overheating issue and pulled over to investigate, I discovered the reservoir was low. I told them that to get back home safely I had refilled the reservoir with water I had with me in the car (with the intention of doing a coolant flush later), as I didn't have the proper mixture or the ability to make any. When they called my partner back (with the recommendation of a coolant flush), they did not suggest the necessary additional diagnostic time to successfully replicate the overheating issue, and since my girlfriend was unaware of my purposefully unsafe coolant mixture band-aid solution, she authorized the suggested coolant flush without requesting additional diagnostic time (in order to be confident that the true problem had been found).Although lame enough, the kicker however isn't that when we finally got the car back with a new thermostat and coolant it continued to overheat. The real issue was that after discovering the problem had persisted (despite a 380$ bill), I went to again investigate under the hood on my own, only to notice that the coolant they had used in my vehicle was completely different from the proper, more expensive, coolant I had been quoted for, paid for, and that was reflected on my receipt. They of course denied my suggestion that the mishap was purposeful and that they had intended to charge me for the correct coolant yet use the cheaper coolant from the start.Who s to say? I ll certainly never know for sure myself, but it did take three phone calls plus the threat of contacting the Bureau of Automotive Repair, the Better Business Bureau, a local Consumer protection agency and an attorney for them to be willing to refund my money. My main point is that:They clearly aren t motivated by customer satisfaction, so consider your options accordingly. Point S in Mt Shasta has always come through for me!P.s. I can edit my review to add image based proof if needed to clear up any misconceptions.:)Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

My car began to overheat after driving ten hours from Washington state. I pulled off at the exit to Brooks at 4:45pm on a Friday evening, and Dave and Chris willingly scanned for the cause of my service engine light and my overheated engine. Their computer was down and wasn t reading my card so they almost let me go with the gallon of coolant for free until I found a $20 bill. They helped me fill up my coolant and sent me with a rag in case I need to check anything again. Blessed by their service and would recommend to any!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair
