Very nice employees, Zach especially is always fun to talk to, probably the last honest mechanic around. Helped me fix my truck, and helped me get the parts when I wanted to fix it myself while answering my questions. 100% recommend

Went well and above. Had a tough leak, dealt with before, but fixed by these folks. Big respect for a job, young mans hands went bloody to do it. Couldn t be more.. proud. Well done dude. Even if it leaks again. Effort means everything. This Kid Rocks!

What an AMAZING find! I was in town on the Friday before New Year's from Los Angeles, when the check engine light went on in my car. I was going to wait to get it fixed, because I didn't think anyone would be working so close to New Year's. Erik answered the phone though and was ready to help. His meticulous diagnostics and repairs made my 2006 Toyota Corola run like new! He explained everything to me in detail, and even took photos of the problem for me to take to my home mechanic, who had over-torqued the screw on the gasket cover. This meant that oil was spewing all over my engine. I had been driving a time bomb. Not only did Erik fix it, he also power washed my engine. What service! Now my car drives like never before. He also surprised me by fixing the clock, which hadn't worked in years. The pricing was more than fair, and his work was precise, as well as efficient. He was so good, that from now on I'll be driving up to visit my friend in Sebastopol and having Erik work on my car while I'm there. The garage that he runs with his equally accomplished son is a real gem!

I dont write a lot of reviews but had to provide one for The Neighbor's Kid Auto Repair. Finding a qualified, dependable, reasonable auto repair shop[ is a challenge. I had used several others in the Sebastopol area in the past few years and was generally dissatisfied with almost all. I recently had the need to replace the alternator and perform some electrical work on an old Subaru and this shop had good reviews on NextDoor so I gave them a try. They were a delight - curteous, helpful, completed the work on time, very reasonably priced, and left me very satisfied. So when my truck would not start over the holidays, and they offered to get me in for a look, I had it towed there. They addressed my problem and also did some overdue maintenance work inc;luding tune-up, gaskets replacement, belt replacement, etc. and the truck runs better than ever, and at a price less than I was quoted by another local shop for just the tune-up. I am taking my wife's car there next week for a brake job. Great people and work!

My fiance went there to get a quote, and after giving him an estimate over the phone, the in person quote came back THOUSANDS higher. We understand completely things come up once you get into the vehicle, but when asked about the discrepancy the owner became incredibly defensive and aggressive, coming to the point of even using profanity. These people are shady and unprofessional, I would avoid them at all costs if you want to be treated civilly, definitely strike me as people out to take advantage and over charge any chance they can get.

Such a fabulous service! Peppy, my little 2004 Honda Coup, needed her periodic oil change and tire rotation, but The Neighbor s Kid took excellent customer care to the next level when they identified and fixed serious issues with Peppy s suspension. By the time she came home, Peppy sounded and rode like a much newer car! Thanks, Zack and his stellar crew for exceptional work!

I brought in my 2015 Fiat in for a diagnostic because I had an engine warning light on. Erik and his son, Zack demonstrated great knowledge about my vehicle and were really easy to work with, explaining to me in everyday language what was going on with the car. They had me fixed up with a new part that addressed my problem in no time at all and at an exceptional price, being able to find a part for me that saved us quite a bit of time and money! Had an emergency and Erik and his guys went above and beyond for me. Diagnosed the problem, ordered parts, and performed the maintenance all within a couple hours. Erik also explained what exactly was going on with the car, and helped me understand what they were doing and why they were doing it. Absolutely incredible service! I knew Erik and Zack personally before using their services. They seemed nice and professional people and when my car needed fixing, they got me in fast. My car was throwing me a check engine light, a difficult one to diagnose; the dreaded P0420. Before any work was done, they explained the process that was necessary to undergo to ensure that no unnecessary repairs were made and those that were made would be only beneficial. They maintained great communication throughout and took me through the work they were doing. After another local shop informed me that my car was not worth the cost of repairs and charging me $250 for that assessment, Erik and Zack agreed to take another look. Free of charge, they ran a thorough and efficient diagnostics panel, discovering that with a few minor parts and repairs my car would be safely back on the road in no time. Imagine my relief! They were more than just professional - they were patient, compassionate, honest and clear. They didn't just go the extra mile..they went an extra 450 !I highly recommend The Neighbor's Kid, and will be returning to them for all my automotive needs from here on out. I highly recommend The Neighbor s Kid automotive repair.The owner, Erik, and his son, Zack, are great people. Erik and Zack picked up my CRV for me, offered a diagnosis and path forward, and returned the vehicle. All for zero charge. (Complex/expensive AC issue to be handled by an AC specific repair shop).Think about it that. Erik spent multiple hours on my car and didn t charge me a dime. I tried to pay him when he dropped the car off and he refused. That is exceedingly rare these days. Erik and Zack are straightforward and won t BS you. They tell it how it is and give you solutions. It s your choice to do it or not. I highly recommend them.

I brought my 2010 Chevy Traverse to Erik and Zach after the steering failed. They came to my property for free to do an estimate, and identified the problem which was a completely shot left control arm and axle. They replaced both for an extremely fair price that was less than half of what other mechanics were quoting me (and let me keep the parts they replaced)! Incredibly honest, kind, and knowledgeable, I d recommend them to anyone.Service: Steering & suspension repair

Over the new year weekend my fiance and I drove the 2 hours for a 3 night stay at a Russian river hotel.On our second day we decided to take a rainy day drive around the area.While we were driving we started having car trouble, so we stopped and Googled local mechanics.We found "The neighbors kid auto repair" and decided to take our chances. We were only a mile away! Unannounced, we arrived at a beautiful property and called from the car. Erik answered the phone and informed us he was on the property and kindly invited us in. We had intruded on he and his sons lunch brake! They stopped eating to help us.Erik explained what he thought the problem was and what the best and worst case scenarios would be as well as gave a price range for the work if he didn't find anything worse than expected.We decided to go forward with the repairs. He then DROVE us back to the hotel personally!! The conversation on the way to the hotel was easy, light hearted and pleasant.We really felt supported!Long story short, he had our car fixed the very next day!We could not believe the level of care and service we received and could never thank them enough for the quick action, unwavering honesty, above and beyond communication and fare pricing!!We were able to leave a day early directly from picking up the car and make it home safely before the storm got really bad! 5 stars isn t enough to show my appreciation for these two. My family is on vacation for the weekend from Los Angeles and our SUV is at its end. Not being from this area we re lost. So we get recommended to Erik. After we talk he offers to come pick up our car in guernville take it back to the shop so my family can still enjoy our time in town. They were ever so responsive with updates and Information. If I could I d bring all my car troubles to the neighbors kid I would. Trusting and understanding and not once did I feel like I was being overcharged (which I wasn t).

If you want a place that feels like it does personalized business, these guys are it. They worked on 2 of our cars- a Mercedes c300 and a Volvo XC90. They are priced very fairly, knowledgeable and if things changed they keep you notified and updated. Really really fair business people- and I love that it s a father son duo- thanks Zach & Erik!

I love these guys! I met Eric and Zach a few years ago when I had en e36 and had a cracked head. I learned a ton about cars from them both, they are exceptionally knowledgeable when it comes to cars, engines, suspension, electrical wiring. Any problem that could come up, they can help you fix it. They got me a new engine for my car and it ran like it never ran before. I didn t even know my car could have so much power, but I learned and fell in love with the e36. After learning so much from them, i started taking my car to them if the car had any issues and if I wanted to upgrade and parts on the car. They added a rear view/backup camera to my car. My 1998 E36. They do amazing work and are extremely smart. Call they came out looked over my car told me it s my Alternator and Water pump an then I took it to them , Well I never expected the Awesome Service I received !
