Stayed in the Stumphouse as a former woodworker, I was in heaven. Of course, albeit beautiful this is a bare-bones bi-level cabin, one queen one twin, no sheets. Good electric heaters. But beyond that, pack like you re camping. The fire pit has a good cooking grate.

Couldn t be happier. We camped here (Tent) on a whim after a long day hiking the Redwoods. Called late in the day, had no issue reaching the owner/operator on the phone and securing a spot effortlessly. (That s a big deal.. many other tent campsites require more advance booking, and everything was Full.) We were quite surprised to find that he has quite a large, and stunningly beautiful camping section off away from the RVs in a redwood grove. Wow, was it beautiful. The facilities were in good shape, the owner was kind and gracious, and we had the entire redwood grove to ourselves despite it being late august in the redwoods. See attached picture of our tent, and how each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit. We would gladly return any time we re back in the area and choose his campground over a Park or KOA type place. Thanks!

So glad we found this campground, looks can be deceiving. I thought it was a great place, what with all the old stumps and lots of room. Price was very reasonable for elec and water for a pull through. I would come back of we lived in CA. I'm glad we found it. Location is great for the Avenue of the Giants.

The good: Very cute tree house for rent, cute little cabins to rent, very close to avenue of the giants. Near by town of Fortuna has essentials. The back of the park is for short stays, it s descent enough. The tent area looked really nice. The not so good: front of park very run down, lots of long termers. The short stay sites are set up very weird. Very close to your neighbors. Husband used shower one night, said it was very tight. There were people camping in cars all around, felt creepy. They were in & out of bathrooms all day & night. There s no sewage, but there s a dump, you ll block whole road to use it. There s 2 washers & 2 dryers, very old, didn t use them.It was what was available so it was what we had to go with. Seeing the redwoods on the avenue of the giants made it worth it, but we won t stay again if we re back in the area.

We stayed here in our van on a road trip from San Francisco to Portland. I think of all the RV parks/campgrounds we stayed at along the way, this was in my top 3. We got in late which was such a hassle (if not impossible w/o a reservation) at a lot places, but there was an older gentleman at the front window that got us all set up. Price was the most affordable of the trip. The women's bathroom has a code to get in which I really appreciated showering late at night. Bathrooms and showers were clean (there are water stains, but it's clean) and no one else came in any time I used them. Campground was quiet and felt safe. As other reviews have mentioned, there are long term residents here- it's an RV park, not sure why that would dissuade you from staying here.

Easy access near 101 but no road noise.. Good for big rigs.Looks unkempt and old fashioned- it is. However, it was great for us. Butch met us in his golf-cart (& dog Bailey). Pull through sites for us and friends in same size RV. Old park with many permanent regulars who were all friendly. Really quirky, interesting campground to walk around and enjoy amazing old, huge trees. On our site the water we connected to was brown - we think from rust, useable but not attractive. Our power 30 amp only which worked fine. Cell was decent,2/3 bars, we're on Verizon. We don't use site showers/restrooms but looked in via coded entrance, very dated, expect old facilities, this might lower our star-rating if we needed to use them I guess. We felt that we'd had a good value time discovering this little gem with awesome big trees and one particular extraordinary house built by hand in a 1200 y.o.stump. Great dog friendly stop over. Olde worldy

I love this place. It s such a hidden gem. We stayed in the tree house for Memorial Day weekend, we were only going to stay one night but it was so amazing we stayed all weekend. The folks that run it are wonderful, the other campers were super fun. Everything is clean and well maintained. I felt very at home. I ll be coming back for years.

Really liked the campsite amongst the trees. Friendly staff - owner has a great sense of humor. Short walk to the river. Limited wifi. Clean bathrooms/showers. We even experienced a 5.6 earthquake on our last night - thought some campers were playing a trick on us by shaking our camper

We really loved this place. It s definitely got an older feel, but the people make up for it and more Tron was just a super guy, so friendly and one of the nicest people you ll meet. The older gentleman with the dogs who looked after things was great too. They allowed us to pick a bag of apples off their tree and we have a fresh apple crisp in the oven as I write this. :) My kids loved the space to run and loved the older park. There are the most amazing old stumps around, and even have a treehouse built into one that you can rent. What this park make misses in first impression is more than made up for with heart. We stayed an extra night because of it.

Family stayed there and the first greeting, was the rudest man he had nothing nice to say at all Especially when he started talking about residents who lived here and some information that shouldn't be given out to strangers (HIPPA violation). I would not recommend and my family will NEVER stay again.

This was one of the worst parks we have visited. Location and trees were beautiful, but that s where it ends. Pulling into the park, our first thoughts were what did we get ourselves into . The majority of sites were filled with dilapidated trailers. Going up to the office was sketchy. Park host was nice and helpful. Sites are not clearly defined. Upon departure, stopped at the dump station, pulled open the black tank, only to discover that the dump station was FULL! You can only imagine that nightmare.

Very unprofessional management. I paid for 2 night and he wouldn't even let me back up close enough to hook up power. Then proceeded to slander another tenant that was staying here. He felt because we knew her, that he had the right to tell me her business and try to spread rumors about her

This is an old property - even on Google maps I was skeptical - but it was close to where we wanted to be. Most of the park is old residential travel trailers and 5th wheels. The "vacation" portion of the property is okay, with what seems like residential tiny houses scattered between the sites. I didn't go in the restrooms so I can't attest to conditions there. The saving grace are there giant redwoods - both living and huge stumps throughout the property.

Stopped here for one night going from Oregon to Cali. Park is spacious and peaceful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Owner gave me a tour of his his "stump house" and hand painted cabins. Would definitely stay here again.

I would have given it 4 stars but the bathrooms needed to be hosed down and sanitized. The location was awesome although we only spent one night just passing through. We were told that we could pick apples off the tree in the yard which was a real nice touch. I would stay here again.

The camp sites for the RV's cannot be seen from the front. It is surprisingly beautiful and quiet. The river is a short walking distance. Many picturesque spots on the grounds and nearby. I am a summer regular and have never been disappointed. Check the stump house out. Unique!

Good location at the north end of the Avenue of the Giants. Fair price. Friendly folks. RV spots toward the back help reduce the highway noise. Wifi is fast (10mps) but not consistent. 30 amps max. No cable. My site was fairly level. No sewer at the RV site; just a central dump station. Overall the park looks "tired." It could really use some updates to the power posts (including 50 amps), cable, resurfacing roads and pads, and a really good trimming of the overgrown trees and bushes.

Especially good for tent camping because the sites are nicely separated from the RVs. Friendly and helpful hosts. Most amazing is the Stump House - you can spend the night inside the giant stump of a 1000yrold redwood. Definitely memorable!

Stafford RV ParkReservations: Management was immediately responsive.Checkin was executed smoothly.Location: Campground is just a couple hundred feet from US101 in Stafford California. I know of no businesses in this town. You'll have to go to Scotia for a small market or fuel.Site condition: The site was gravel and dirt. The ground is stable because it is summer and dry. Access to the site was only moderately painful. The exit path was much more challenging. If you have a rig that is more than ten feet tall, 10 feet wide, or 33 feet long you will have to exercise great caution.Utilities: Electric, water, and sewer were good until other campers arrived. Then my power monitor disconnected my motorhome from the utility indicating repeated brownouts. I had to run the generator to provide air conditioning on this swealtering summer day.Local attractions: None other than wild blackberries and apples when in season.Amenities: Bathrooms/showers were clean and well kept.Internet access: It was represented to us that Wifi-Internet access was available. It was not. There are four wifi access points and I could connect easily to all of them. However, none of them connected to even a DHCP server, much less a router to the Internet. I encountered a resident who said that he had been at this campground for eight years. In that time the WiFi never worked for him. The owner first offered up a song and dance about how we might be too far from the access points. I demonstrated that the problem existed when standing next to the access point. I enquired with the new campers and was informed that they too were told that Internet access was available. The solution voiced by two of them was to promptly pack up and leave. Personally, I was saved by a weak Verizon signal.Problem: While I will allow for other possibilities, all currently available evidence leads to the conclusion that service is being advertised that the owner knows will not be provided.

The staff is friendly but he doesn't remember very much. If you stay more then one day don't count on him remembering you. There are people who live here and someone was having problems because the police were out there on our second day :/ . But the price is reasonable and you are just a few miles from the alley of the gaints. Also they have redwood stumps there

This is probably the most Charming RV Park and Campground I have been to. First of all it's in the Redwoods, then they have Charming things like the stump house I have pictured here.If you're looking for fancy amenities this might not be your place but if you're looking for something charming and affordable this is it.

It started off as a nice place, then they decided to make us leave after one night because they noticed we had an American bull dog "pitbull" (HE IS MY REGISTERED EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG) mind you, they didn't ask what kind of dog we had when we checked in... i have papers and proof that he is a service animal and they are still making us leave! Just because he's a pitbull, he wasn't mean to anyone or anything!! So I don't recommend this place at all!

It was ok. Adequate. Overpriced. Most of the park is crammed with long term residents, so short term is stuck with the no privacy or shade pull thrus. The dog area is terrific. The showers are lukewarm. Most disturbing was the drinking water. It is a greenish brown color and not even the dog would drink it,

Sep 2017 booked for 1 night and stayed 3. $31.50 per night with GoodSam discount. This is a hidden gem!! Curb appeal not much but once inside it is quiet, peaceful, spacious, great Wi-Fi, good shower (not great but good) and church owned and ran RV park. Only down-side is no sewer at each site but dump station very close. weird lay-out but it works! Lots of redwood trees.

Quiet, peaceful and most of all beautiful. The staff is excellent, Extremely friendly and helpful. Lots of room between sites. The only downside is they do not have septic and every site. It is easily overlooked with the beauty of this site. I have asked to increase my stay.
