So glad I found this place! It was recommended by a mobile mechanic who looked at my truck. He said he had his truck done here over 10 years ago. He stated his truck ran better after, than when he bought it new. He wasn't lying. My truck was given back to me better than before. I was worried I was going to need an entire rebuild because there was no compression in one of my cylinders but Richard was able to find the problem and save me thousands. Honest, knowledgeable, experienced and reasonably priced mechanics are hard to come by. You'll get all those with Richard, the owner of action cylinders. He's been doing it for 48 years. I can't thank them enough for bringing my truck back to life. I know who I'll be recommending from now on.

I can't even tell you why they only have 3.8 Stars. This is the place to bring your vehicle if you need any engine help. The owner is no nonsense, knows what he's doing and will be completely honest with you. This man and this company have been a blessing and fixed our Jeep Liberty to brand new. They should be 5 stars above the rest. Thank you Action Cylinder Heads.

Action Cylinder Heads in Santee, California is the only place you should take your vehicle if you have any kind of engine issues! Richard is the owner and I have been going to his shop for years now! He runs an honest, very competitive and clean shop! I always feel more at peace with my car when I leave here! Always done right the first time! Please go and check it out for yourself! I was very unhappy with this machine shop. As a professional mechanic, I expect a certain level of service and quality of product sold. I took a pair of cylinder heads in for service. As a basic service I expected the heads to be checked for cracks and the surface checked for flatness. First off they lost all my rocker studs and would not return my calls concerning this problem. So I purchased new studs and installed the heads and to my surprise, they were cracked. Just imagine the hit my reputation took with my customer. Thank you action cylinder head. If you can, go somewhere else.

I went to A Plus Auto Care and they quoted me $5k for a cylinder head job. This place did it for $3,600 and did my brakes and rotors within that price as well. Asked them to do a rush job and they did it. Nice guys, clearly only care about getting your car fixed and on the road. They don t care about finding BS maintenance issues to charge you with like other places. Straight forward mechanic shop. Would recommend

I have mixed feelings about this place. I have taken heads to be serviced it went well. I take my wife's car it goes bad, very bad car still overheats kinda can't get the computer to reset after they worked on it the temp gage was sporadic at best I took it to another shop for that. Fixed it in about 2 hours. He referred me to another shop that then nicked and dime me for another $600 and still doesn't run right> I gave them plenty of opportunity to fix it and make it right. They straight out suck. where are the good mechanics at

A mechanic told me that I had a blown head gasket on my 75 Ford truck. I called Richard and he said to bring it in and he would take a look at it. After keeping the truck over night and doing a couple of pressure tests he found there was nothing wrong with the head gasket. When I came in to pick up the truck I asked how much do I owe he said that's ok you are good to go.He didn't charge me for his time or labor. Richard is one honest mechanic.

These guys completely rebuilt the upper eingine of my camaro and put all new parts, even a few days after I got unlucky with a bad coil pack and spark plug wires and they still fixed it without any extra cost and I thank them alot!

Edited : Richard is straight up honest and gets the job done right the first time, he has done my rebuilds on both my 88 iroc Camaro and my 86 bronco, will continue to use him for all my machining needs, great guys that work for him too loyal to us customers.EDITED; he refused my business cause I had an incident with the tow truck guy he sent, he claimed that the tow truck company brings him a lot of business, so he chose them over a loyal customer like me, I still have one of my cars under his warrantee and refuses to Deal with me. I will no longer send him customers or deal with him as well. I never complained about the work he did on my cars cause it was minor stuff that I ended fixing myself, but his guys left 4 of my spark plugs lose, lost my keys, header bolts were all lose, valve covers were place on the wrong sides making it almost impossible to add oil, and when I did my injectors screws were missing from the plenum. I should had brought it to his attention then but I figured I can just fix it myself and move on. Richard you lost a loyal customer.

Hello my name is Brian. I was referred to Action Cylinder Heads by Tony who owns Automotive Eskimo Radiator and A/C who is a man of INTEGRITY, and I have known personally for many years. If Tony says take my truck to Richard than that's good enough for me. I have met Richard now on two occasions, the first time was when I brought my truck in for an estimate for an engine rebuild on April 12, 2018. While I was there, I observed Richard and his employees while I was waiting for my estimate. The second time was when I dropped my 1989 Ford Ranger XLT, 4X4 on June 2, 2018, for the engine re-build, which by the way I'am the original owner and brought my truck new at Drew Ford La Mesa on March 3, 1989. Likewise, Richard, estimated two-weeks for the re-build and gave me a ride home when I requested a ride. From my personal observation of Richard, I find him to be a business man of integrity and professionalism. I just got off the phone with Richard and my truck should be ready tomorrow Tuesday, June 19, 2018. I will keep you posted on the results. "Think positive"

My husband and Dad have used action Cylinder Heads for years. They have brought them several headers to be resurfaced, they have always quoted accurately and honestly. They have always finished on the estimated date or very close too. Today was the first time I have personally had the pleasure of working with them. I Brought our truck in with engine issues, They took the time to thoroughly explain the "estimated" issue." they were up front and honest that that they couldn't guarantee anything until further inspection. They answered all questions and went over best case, worse case scenarios, and pricing associated with each.We Highly recommend this business...Thank you for taking the time to read...Have A Great DayAlready There Handyman

My work van engine seized up . The penske ford service dept. Said it would be around 10k to replace it ouch. My worker mention he had a car rebuilt 10 years ago by Richard. So we went by Richard was still there and found me a used engine with low miles for half the quote from penske. One week later the van is back to work runs better than ever.Thanks Richard

Richard is the real deal Allways going out of his way to help customers in need, 100% honest he will give you the best options and cost to repair your vehicles, never charged me anything to Check my vehicles & give me a fair and honest estimate, his prices and quality we're supurb, anytime I had a question or concern Richard would tell me bring it on over and let me take a look at it , he backs his work 100% thank you Richard and crew for all the great work. Quoted me 10 HOURS MINIMUM to bolt heads and intake on a 302. No port and polish, no resurfacing, nothing. Over $1100 to bolt heads and intake on and I buy the parts!!!!! I just got a 4 hour quote elsewhere! He's way behind work and the place is a huge mess!! I HIGHLY SUGGEST ASKING AROUND TO OTHER PLACES!!!

Well i had a knock sensor done there in a short amount of time... And at way better price then Bonds Auto... Richard and the team made my car run like new again.. I recommend them highly thank you much A.C.H

I was once referred to this shop a while back by another to get head and cylinder work done. he quoted me a very high price. I ended up getting it done else where for less than half of what he wanted. not sure if he just wanted me gone.then a 4 days ago went back there again because I was once referred to him AGIAN by a different shop to get a certain job done. he has a sign saying to wear mask and stay 6ft apart. I went to put my mask on and he told me to stay outside. while he was talking with 3 other people inside, in a group, with no mask. we tried having a conversation about 15 ft apart. after I told him what I needed he just stared at me with the other guys staring at me too. I felt really uncomfortable at this point. once he replied back to me a minute later, he gave me a vague answer (like he was almighty) with a smirk on his face. I really didn't know what to say after that. the other guys next to him began smiling and one of them laughed a bit. at that point I just I knew nothing was ganna happen. then he gave me a price randomly. I felt like I was being bullied TBH, like he was trying to prove s ok mething. I then walked away feeling like I wasnt welcomed and ridiculed. the first time I encountered him he was very nice and knowledgeable, but this time customer service and professionalism was non-existent.I'm sure if I'm referred to him again I'll ask to give me a different place.

They swapped my 2019 Honda Civic engine for 4.8k good price but did take 4 months but they got the job done

Worst place to take your vehicle. Could not complete job. Did not deliver as promised and parts of my engine where missing after they tore my engine down. Had to pickup vehicle and have someone else do the job. Take your vehicle somewhere else. The rating should be a big fat ZERO.

first repair shop i went to said it was a cracked head and would cost$2000.00!!action cylinder heads replaced the thermostat&made some adjustments and $200.00's later i was back on the road!this shop is HONEST and does EXCELLENT work.

had them build me 8.1 power house 36k hard hard hard mi it in a tow truck love it pulls as hard as my 7.3 ford 486 hp 450 lb

Owner kept stalling on working on my car giving me all kind of excuses why he hadn't gotten to it and it was in his shop for 5 weeks, never will I go their again!!!!

This place is horrible! Job I could've/should've done at home in 6 hours took them over 2 weeks+ twice the original quote... These guys are clueless
