After not needing a smog check for some time until now, I prepared myself for a long wait, but instead, the dmog check did not take very long.This place is clean, and the wait area is very comfortable.The staff was efficient and polite.Just as my car's smog check was done, I hesitated to go out into the pouring rain that had just started without an umbrella.To my pleasant surprise, the gentleman working at the service desk escorted me out to my car with his huge umbrella. Thank you for this amazing customer service.

Truly excellent service. I was lucky enough to be second in line, nonetheless in and out in under 20 minutes a new record! Greeted warmly when I arrived and then a speedy check out when they completed the inspection.

These guys are awesome! After buying a used truck that turned out to have had the odometer set back and a laundry list of problems, Ray and the team were able to conduct a very thorough inspection. Having a link sent to me with detailed descriptions of all the problems, (including photographs!) was amazingly helpful. He even gave me advice about things that didn t even involve him that I m having to do at a Chevy dealership and what things he found the inspection that I should hold off on until after Chevy does their work. I m very happy with the repairs that he did do (about 12 different things) and definitely bringing it back to him for those leftover repairs once the Chevy dealership is done with it!

My experience with Santa Monica Motors was excellent. They took complete care of my car. Staff members are friendly and seem to work well as a team. The station & bathroom are very clean. And pricing was fair. I've come here for years only for smog test. Today, I had an appt for different reasons. I wouldn't hesitate returning for service where my dealer is not required. I highly recommend SM Motors.

They smogged my 2016 car in 20 minutes and I was out of there. No drama, or any nonsense and it was reasonably priced at $70. Definitely coming back in the future.

I ve been smog checking my 2 cars here for years. The older gentleman that s always been here is STILL there! What a classy guy. Old school service. Hats off to him. Salud for many more years. I hope this place never changes. As life would have it, the day he retires it ll be different. Until then, let s enjoy him and the service he and his staff provides. Smog places and their people are usually snotty and unfriendly. Not the case here. Thank you Santa Monica Motors. I ll see you again in 2 years. 5 star service! Bring your car here!

I had a great experience with Santa Monica Smog Check. It was quick, friendly and helpful. I mentioned the Yelp discount and got $10 off! They also have a great area to wait while your car is taken care of. I definitely plan to come back for future smog checks. Thank you!!

Very quick! And professional! Did my smog on my lunch break and still was able to catch a walk and grab a meal. Brittney was very friendly & knowledgeable. I almost wanted to stay there Def my family s go to place for our vehicle needs.

This was my Go-To Smog Check Station for years because they were fair, locally owned and Bob is a nice guy with good service. Not sure what has happened in the past year or two but they closed the office they used to have and are charging $79 for a SMOG check. $79 is crazy! The state average is $40-50. It also seems like the techs BOB now has are grumpy and kind of rude compared to past visits.I took my car in today for a SMOG test and because my battery was recently changed it failed the test because I don t have enough data on the oxygen sensor and the Catalyst to get proper readings. This is something that takes literally 1 minute to diagnose with the OBD connection so I ended up paying $62 (I had a coupon) for a 1 minute test. I get it. That s how they make money but I feel ripped off. Bob tried to comfort me by saying I should be happy because I am alive and healthy . What?They do have a $35 retest which is better than nothing but I am disappointed and would suggest you call around and make sure you get a price BEFORE you tell them you have a $10 off coupon which just about everyone in Santa Monica offers if you just Google it.Disappointed. So tired of the Santa Monica Business Owners who just want to gouge their customers. The average SMOG check takes about 10 minutes. Oh well.

Best smog check experience I ve ever had. Made an appointment online, spent 15 minutes in a clean waiting room, paid my bill & on my way/ within 20 minutes of my appt. time. Friendly, professional- couldn t be any easier.

This place has always found a way to not pass my cars the first time, and require a retest that costs as much as the initial test. Today it was just ground hog day again, had to go twice to get it done. This business is not professional or customer oriented and operated to extract the most money per job that they can. It would get zero stars if possible. Seriously avoid this place and go somewhere else.Service: Smog certification

Easy breezy! Had my first smog check 2 years ago in Santa Monica and I m my vehicle wasn t registering so it kept failing. Had to take it to the smog check 3-4 times and was told to drive car and bring it back 4th time was told to leave the car at the shop for a few hours until they finally were able to get readings and it passed. $200+ down the drain. This place passed on the first attempt. I was in an out in 10 minutes. My go to smog check from here on out.

I love their smog station, but this time I went to them for an oil change & inspection. Took 3 hours, but that s not what was troubling. When I got into my car it looked like someone had gone thru it. Center console was opened, items from my glove box were on the seat & the trunk cargo net was undone. Sure they had to go into the glove box because that s where the cabin air filter is, but not sure what the deal was with the other things. It s just simple courtesy to return the car in order. My car is empty except for an owners manual and tire gauge kit I keep in the glove box & a water bottle, can of soup & car cover in the trunk. Had to pull over on the drive home because of a banging noise. Turned out they unclipped the cargo net so the soup can & water bottle were rolling around. Think of it like a barber. They cut your hair fine but you walk out covered in hair clippings. Not a good finish.

Best smog check experience I ve ever had.After trying to get in to several overcrowded and grungy looking smog check places on Lincoln Boulevard. I went to Pico and 23rd to this place. It s super modern, spacious, clean, and efficient. I think I was out an under 10 or 12 minutes. The staff were very professional as well. Definitely will be back next time.

SM Motors did a great and detailed inspection of my car for it's 60,000 mile check up. They were quick and on schedule and their prices were fair and reasonable. Positive review appear to be driven by Yelp offer. I agree with other comments that the test center strives to have you come back for a retest. They mention the price of retest as $26 in the release you sign before the test and then quote it at $35 on the invoice when you pay. $35 retest fee creates an incentives for the center to fail the test instead of offering a clear, transparent price upfront. Lastly, they have you fill out forms asking for all sorts unnecessary personal info - not only all the usual PII but also marital status, family members, sons, daughters? The only essential elements are car details, not my biography.

I took my 2020 Lexus in for a routine maintenance. They were $1000 less than the Lexus dealer and they did a much better job. I highly recommend him.
