Larkin is the king of engines and a super nice guy.Hubby brought the '64 Chrysler 300K engine here about 12 days ago, we arrived right at closing time w/10 minutes to spare...on a Friday.The guys used a forklift to get the engine off our truck. It was grimy and had thick gunk covering the rocker arms from years of buildup...yuck!Everyone was kind and Larkin explained everything that will be done to the engine.Today Larkin called to give an update and what he discovered after he cleaned it. Hubby n I were appreciative of how he was not rushed, but pleasant while giving us the run-down; no wonder he has a good business, he knows how to talk with people.Hubby gave a deposit so the work can begin, and Larkin asked hubby to bring in the oil pan, timing chain n valve covers, along with the harmonic balancer to clean it up.Awesome Can't wait for the final results...this is a gem of a business and we are fortunate to have found them What a difference a clean engine makes after being encrusted with gunk for decades.Thankfully it is in good shape, no cracks on the block and no major issues Thank you Larkin, and crew, for having knowledge and a pleasant demeanor.

Took my motor 8 months told me 1-2 months max. Derek is the owner and a crowd pleaser tells me Everytime I talked to him by next week. And I didn't bug till 3 months took an additional 5 months. then he says my guys have COVID. took him 8 months did he make right no pretty much an apology. I don't know how a business makes money. that takes this long to get an Engine back that I did all the work. except for the machine part. wish I could give em a zero and that would be too thoughtful. if you need your motor within a time frame. you mine as well forget used these guys because I heard they were good. if taking damn near a year is good forgot about it. there honestly a scam (Don't Use Them) (period) I will never ever use them again.

I ve called twice and spoke to a man named Junior. He s been very patient with me as I m fairly new to engine building and don t want to over do it. Regardless of what route I take, I will be taking any and all machine work to these guys. I look forward to working with them in my engine eventually.

The owner and son are very helpful and professional. Machined my flywheel and promised to finish it in 2.5 hours bc they were busy but finished it in an hour. Flywheel was for a 1989 saab 900 spg. They removed the flywheel bearing and attached it in a separate bag if I wanted to reuse, great service. $58 well spent

So far my experience with this shop has not been a good one, been getting the run around on when my engine will be done, I've spoke with Derek directly and keep getting the same response "we need one more week" followed by "I'll get your engine out this Friday" to the more recent "I give you my word it'll be done this Friday even if I have to build it myself" (8/4/23) the day comes "engine is not ready we'll have it ready Tuesday or Wednesday of next week" as far as having a good standing with his word with me definitely not, I have yet to see the kind of work they do as far as machining goes but customer service and getting machine work done when they say they will is horrible to say the least and based on that I would recommend go elsewhere unless you don't want your engine/parts in a timely manner.will update review good or bad when work is done or if they need another week, what a shame they fell way short of what they talked. Update as expected asked for more time to"finish assembly", engine block and several parts I dropped off have been there for about 9 months now for time time frame reference.

Love the owner and his staff. They do great work for great prices. I've been having camshaft issues with my BBC after they machined the block (my own fault, they only did the heads and block) and they are always willing to help point me in the right direction and lend me their experience to find a solution. They have done 3 different engines for me now and I will bring them every motor I need work on ever again. 12/10

Best work every time !!!Best price every time !!!Never found any place that does the quality work that L&R does and I have worked with many of them over the 50 plus years I have been in the automotive business.

Larkin (Owner) is a straight shooter and as upfront as they come. He'll tell you how it is,like it or not. Great shop with all the necessary tools for the greatest engine rebuild you'll need. If it gets better than this,I don't know where. He'll buildto the "correct" specs.

Great local machine shop! Walked in, got my flywheel resurfaced in 15 minutes. Can't expect better service than that. I even got a tour of the facility from Larkin. Extremely nice folks there.

Friendly staff. Professional and precision work. Derek is a great guy to work with. I am getting an engine and plan on getting another one. I sure would recommend family and friends.

I dont know of any place that charges 200 a head just for a lite resurface and pressure check on 2 heads! And then does not even clean the heads!!!!! They are full of metal bad!!!!!! I mean bad enough we had to clean the heads in a parts washer before we could even install them!!!!!! Most expensive shop in town and the heads came back looking like a train wreck! First time using this place and sad to say most likely the last !! I just hope i dont have any problems with these heads when i put them back on!

Brought some AFR Heads here to be port matched. After waiting the almost 3 week lead time, I received my heads as shown in the picture attached. Two stars because Derek was reasonable, offered to make me happy and gave me a refund but after letting work like this go out the door, I lost confidence.

They didn't want my business or my money. Was told 1 week to wash and mag my block. After calling multiple times finally talked to someone and wasn't done after 3 weeks. Took my business elsewhere... very disappointing.

Derek and crew at L&R are super awesome. They have built several performance engines for me - from traditional small blocks, LSs, to Coyote mod motors. Highly recommend.

Great work. They balanced an engine last year and today I picked up my second engine. This is my go to place. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

Who ever answers the phone is very rude and sarcastic. This place seems very unorganized. I recommend going some where else with better customer service.

Great place, great service. They are the go to place for stock and race rebuilds
