We were in a pinch. My daughter needed to get herself and her car to Seattle within a week and it was running poorly. Rene found the issue quickly and was on it right away. Thank you Rene for being helpful and willing to get it done so quickly. We ve put 1000 miles on the car in 4 days and it s doing great!

If there was a way I could give Rene a Patron Sainthood - I absolutely would.I brought my Mitsubishi outlander sport to him with a mystery condition that developed after getting my brakes and rotors done at Firestone on Water St. that they themselves couldn't identify or fix (don't EVER take your car there).We have a very nearing deadline of moving 1500 miles away a week from now and my car was not safe to drive at this point.Not only did he almost immediately take my car in after calling during the short week of Thanksgiving which is a huge blessing; he also communicated consistently every step of the way on what he was doing, what he found, and what my options were.He found the problem, fixed it, and saved me over $2k in parts and labor from the dealership.Which ultimately has saved our move timeline. His prices are incredible, he is fair, and you can trust him and his years of knowledge and expertise.I cannot recommend him enough!! Please take your vehicles to Rene!

They helped my friend at a fair price and did an excellent job. We had taken the car to a few shops before this and none were willing to see what they could do with the small budget we had to offer. Renes exceeded expectations and went above and beyond. 5 stars.

The service here is amazing. The owner himself, Rene, helped diagnose a multitude of problems and fixed everything for a fair price. He is very helpful and even fixed a couple minor problems free of charge. I would highly recommend his service.

My Honda Accord s alternator died. I bought a new alternator and called Rene. Has was able to fix it in a few hours. Good price. Much much cheaper than other auto shops in Santa Cruz. He did a great job. I d use his shop from now on.

i have nothing but great things to tell about rene s autoshop. my car needed a new radiator and the dealers had up to a month wait. he ordered and replaced my radiator within 2 days. he kept me updated the whole time. he is such a nice guy and also told me the whole breakdown of the price as well. my car is perfectly fixed now and i will be recommending everyone to Rene. thank you rene!!! a true life saverServices: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

Even though Rene was inundated with other repairs, I had my brakes and rotors replaced within one hour of walking into the garage. All other shops in the area required an appointment for days later, but Rene understood that I could be a danger to myself and other Santa Cruzians. If you like to support long-standing local businesses, honest mechanics, quality OEM PARTS, vicinity to town eats, quicker than average repair, then please patronize this establishment. I'm coming back to get my back two rotors and brakes repaired before I cross any mountain ranges.Service: Auto brake repair

I took my 04 Toyota Sienna into Rene initially for a wheel bearing and because of the great service at a fair price I ended up returning for the next two repair jobs I needed on the vehicle. Highly recommend this shop.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

My family and I drove across country and found ourselves stranded in Santa Cruz. Rene was the 3rd garage I called (1st two told me to get bent) and agreed to let me have my car towed to him. He was a life saver!!! Very proffesional and I would highly recommend Rene and his crew! He was very up front and let me know every step of the way on repairs needed and what it was gonna cost me. It was a big job and I'm pretty knowledgeable about engines myself, honestly I had a hard time believing that he would be able to get the job done right the first time and that the car would get my family back to Ky but fortunately Rene proved me wrong! Just wanted to update: he did not warn me my tire pressure was low until I returned to ask about it. And he got extremely defensive once I did and did not let me speak just accused me of things. This is not a way to treat customers. I would allow a man off the street with a YouTube video to work on my car over him again. I let the people know who recommended this place how bad the service was and they will not be returning either.I would rate them lower if I could. I had an issue with my tire pressure before I left there after an oil change. I tried to ask if he rotated tires or anything other than check the air because one was leaking just to get a better understanding on why the tire pressure was going off right away saying it s low. He got very defensive, wouldn t let me speak and talked over me the whole time. His mood changed from being polite to very rude and treating me poorly as soon as I asked about the tire pressure. I wouldn t recommend anyone to there with the way he treats his customers. Very disrespectfulService: Oil change

Literal lifesaver! My friend and I were unlucky and our car got hit with a large plank of wood on the highway. We quickly looked for an auto shop nearby and Rene was so kind and friendly to helped us out with our broken bumper and checked our car for us. Thank you so much!

Excellent! I was passing through town and needed same day service. Rene got my car in the shop quickly and fixed two oil leaks and provided a top quality full tune up the day of. He also spotted multiple issues with my vehicle that I was unaware of. He was upfront and honest about every step of the service, didn t push service that I didn t need, and his rates were far lower than I d expect for the service my car received. If I were a Santa Cruz local I would never take my car anywhere else. Thanks so much Rene!

My 2007 Range Rover s check engine light came on about 25 miles before Santa Cruz,my engine started misfiring and I lost engine performance, I googled for a mechanic and Rene was the second guy I called, he immediately said he would check it out, luckily I was only five minutes away, when I arrive to his shop my rover lost complete power and shut off! I left it with Rene because he sounded very honest and confident about working on Land Rovers and he only charged $150/hour when the competition (Emil s) wanted to charge $200. Long story short, Rene ran test and his diagnostic was that my alternator was bad, he got it the next morning and I was on the road back to San Diego @ 12:30pm, this baby was starting and running to good, my gas milage even went up,he fixed it in about 24 hours. Parts seemed a bit pricy, but it was an emergency, and me and my family got home safe later that day. Thank You Rene!

Rene s has an Excellent character and very honest and helpful. He shows you the replaced parts and explains the necessary functions. He is intuitive about seeing future possible issues your vehicle may develop. A great respect and concern for people and their vehicle issues. We highly recommend him and his his business. Rene was awesome! He needs more reviews.He replaced my axle and a headlight for a great price and even threw in a pair of windshield wipers at the end, always giving me updates on what my car needed for my coming road trip.I could tell he gets a lot of repeat customers, and I m going to be one for sure!Thanks again, Rene!

Rene and his team do a great job! Rene is very honest and up-front, and does quality work at a reasonable price. My radiator sprung a leak, he replaced it and the rest of my cooling system in less than a day, and even brought out the old damaged part to show me what had gone wrong with it! Five stars, I highly recommend Rene :)

Rene took my call and got to working on my car 30 minutes after I had called to have him go to my address and replace my battery. Very reliable and charges reasonable prices. Rene is an honest person with his work and he does an excellent job. 100% would recommend.

Rene saved a wedding weekend for us !Driver side window went down , Rene had an opening for us and quickly and efficiently repaired at a fair cost.Communication , professionalism , customer service all A+Would use him again with no question .

Rene was super friendly and helpful. We were passing through on a road trip when we hit something that caused a leak under the car. Rene looked over the car and check all the fluids. He gave us a loaner car but it took him less than an hour before he was finished. I highly recommend him.

Rene is a professional for he called me every step of the way to let me know more work needed to be done to my car & answered all my questions but is way overpriced.My car overheated & broke down and was towed to the closest auto shop. Rene diagnosed a blown head gasket and warped cylinder head. Im a young girl with no car experience and he probably thought I was an easy scam. He gave me a $3600 quote to repair the car fully with a new cylinder head.Unable to pay for this, I ended up having someone else check out my car and was told I don t actually have a blown head gasket but did need new (used) cylinder head and gasket anyways with a $1700 total for parts and labor.So warning- Rene, while wise in the way of mechanics, puts up a nice front but will likely fuxk you over.

Rene and the other technician are great. I've taken my car there several times and Rene has always seemed trustworthy and goes above and beyond to get the job done as soon as possible, even staying late on Christmas Eve for me. Brought my Kia in for a new clutch. Live in Santa Clara needed to get home so he gave me a loaner. Have to admit for a sixty year old lady it had some power. Called me after inspecting to let me know I needed brakes. Called me again to tell me he would change the oil at cost. I know nothing about cars so took his word for it. What a fantastic job, my car has 100,000 miles and drives like new. I am so pleased with his work and highly recommend Rene's

I would highly recommend Rene to anyone! We got stuck in Santa Cruz when our car overheated. He was able to see us day of and fix the issue that same day, when other mechanics I called around were either not going to be able to see me that day or said they would take a few days to find the problem. You can tell they really care about their customers and do everything in their power to fix the issues.

Rene was a real lifesaver. He got me In and out quickly when my car broke down and I was stranded. They're really kind and cooperative and made it easy to understand what went wrong and how exactly they fixed it. Great service!

They are untrustworthy and disrespectful. I brought my Tacoma in today for an oil change and to have air put in the spare tire. Prior my payment, Frank told me he put 35 psi in the spare. I checked when I got home, and there was 13 psi in the spare and the valve cap was missing. (fyi Tacomas have their spare under the bed, and he cut a corner by not lowering the tire to add the air) I brought the truck back, and he became confrontational. He begrudgingly added the correct amount of pressure. I then asked him for a valve cover, and he flipped out. First he claimed it was unnecessary and then that it was missing when I brought it in, both being untrue. After an ugly extended encounter, he got me a valve cap. It was surreal. After I got home, I figured I should check the psi in my other 4 tires, since he added air to them too. All were significantly over filled. The oil change was satisfactory. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP.

Amazing workers ! I was visiting Santa Cruz when my car overheated, they were able to see me the day of and they worked on my car until they were able to resolve the issue. I would reccomend them to anyone near Santa Cruz. You can tell that the workers really care about their customers and work to make them comfortable.

This man helped me repair my car a 100 percent cheaper then any other repair shop in Santa Cruz County!!! He did an excellent job and he even videotaped it to show me what he had done, I don t know of any other shop that does that!!! So I want to ThankYou Rene so much!!! And to the other people out there if you need repairs to your vehicle go see Rene he is not only cheap he is HONEST!!!!
