I have never in my life had a mechanic that was as trustworthy and reliable and honest and helpful as this place here. Having him work on my car is like having a close family member who you can count on to make sure you re safe. For this area Northern California he is my mechanic for life. I m so happy with the service I get.

This has been my go-to garage and I have never been disappointed. Fernando, Joaquin and their crew are always genuine, kind and helpful. I have had all kinds of work done here from routine maintenance, like getting new brakes, to major repairs. They are thorough, timely, and their rates are fair. I drive confident because of the work they've done.

Fernando has taken care of maintenance on my cars when I didn't have time to work on my own cars.Transmission fluid flush (3x on 3 different vehicles), brake pad replacement (1 car), and engine mount replacement (1 car).Top notch service and i would recommend Fernando to be trusted with any car brought into him.

BEST AUTO REPAIR AND WONDERFUL STAFF ESPECIALLY JOAQUIN!booked an appointment supposedly just for my brake pads, but before my appointment my car won't start, I got a text from Fernando that they are ready for my appointment but I told him that my car wasn't starting and he offered to send a mechanic to get it started for me. they did my brake pads and suggested to change my brake fluids (that hasn't been changed for the past 10 years) and battery as well. they did it fast and professionally!! the price was reasonable, too.and as a person who doesn't know anything about cars, I haven't change my windshield wipers since I got it, Joaquin also took care of it and changed it for me for free. (I really appreciate it)they don't just do their work, they go above and beyond to really make sure you're safe on the road after they fixed your car. highly highly recommended!

They ran a diagnostics on my car & trusted them with my car overnight. In the morning when I received information on my situation they helped me feel trusting that they were being completely honest with my situation. As a woman I m scared of getting scammed from mechanics and I did not feel that at all with this team! Thank you for the honesty and compassion!

I serviced my Maserati here due to a misfire situation. As you may know, not many shops in the bay area offer service and repair on Maserati cars, especially classic and older generation with the Ferrari M136 R V8 engine and F1 gearbox. I was having a misfire on cylinder 8 due to incorrect torque made by a mechanic from another shop. I was informed by three different shops in the area that I need helicoil or thread repair in order to fit the spark plug securely. The master tech at Preferred Auto Repair inspected my engine and was able to pinpoint the problem due to incorrect torque than tread issue. He was able to install a new spark plug from the factory under 10 min. The engine now runs smooth with no code at all. They are very honest, professional, and knowledgeable.Service: Engine repair

Brought my Subaru in to have some new headlights installed and a general inspection. Fernando texted me with photos of some issues he recommended be addressed, and i agreed to have the additional work done. (After all, the car has 110K miles and not much work had been done prior other than routine maintenance)The car was ready the next day. My Volvo 940 had some electrical issues preventing the fan and radiator to work which caused the radiator unit to burst. Angel and his team mended the wiring and installed the new radiator and fan without fail and provided quality service. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone that needs auto repair in the area.

I visited Preferred Auto Repair after looking at the ratings and gave my car for a general inspection - where Fernando suggested a change in the spark plugs for higher mileage, which is fine. But when I gave the car, the air conditioning was working, and when i went to take the car, the A/C wasn't working. I asked Fernando, and he mentioned that he has to pump in Freon which is worth $150-$200 and then check if there is a leak.This was very unprofessional of him when clearly the A/C inspection needs to be done within the vehicle inspection and this is a clear example of how people are selfish for money. I would recommend to stay away.Service: Vehicle Inspection

Fernando would text me updates, send pictures and call me with explanations and pricing for everything. I was able to ask questions and decide which services I wanted. Wish I could give 5 stars but I chose not to have work done on my car and junked it instead, so I cannot speak to the quality of work.

This place is great! My Audi needed a new engine replacement. I shopped around to a lot of different Auto Repair places and finally decided on Preffered Auto. The price and the warranty were deciding factors, but Fernando s personal attention to what I really wanted and needed is what made all the difference. Fernando and the guys were able to replace my engine and find the right one for my car quickly and I have taken my car to them ever since. I had battery issues. It was not holding charges although it is a brand new American Automobile Association's (AAA) battery. The reason was that the brake lights were on all the time even after the car was turned off. I took it to Preferred Auto Repair service station and Fernando and Joaquin did the Diagnostic check and found the problem and fixed it. While the car was in the shop, they found other problems with the car and fixed them all with reasonable cost. Their auto repair services have warranty for 12 months/12000 miles. We do not use this car very much but they did an excellent job and we are satisfied. We will recommend them to any body who are in need of car repair services. They are honest and reasonable. Fernando runs a great shop. On short notice, he recently made major repairs to my 1996 Chevy pickup so it would pass inspection and be safer to drive. He also keeps my 2004 Prius and 2001 Mom-mobile running. I've been going to Preferred Auto Repair regularly for oil changes and any issues I've had with my car since 2016. Fernando and his team are professional, knowledgeable and fast and they've taken the time to answer any questions I have about my car. I also appreciate the transparency; before any work is done expect a call explaining what is wrong and what needs to be done to fix it and how much it will cost.Over the years they've replaced my transmission, a worn out drive belt, wheel speed sensor, head light lamps, brakes and oil changes. They ve even installed after market fog lights. The quality of the work has always been 100% since I've never had any issues after the work was done. I went Into this place completely innocently. Saw a couple bad reviews but fine, everyone has a different experience.Turned out police had to get involved for them to relinquish my vehicle to me. Took 6 hours of my time, and I was down $125 for doing no service other than inspecting my car. I just wouldn t risk it, there s a lot of other repair shops pretty much next door.EDITED to note I see a few reviews down about someone with almost identical experience. And they state that it seems obvious family and friends are drowning the bad reviews with 5 stars. There s just no way. Idk how you can run such a crooked business. It s baffling. Go to him at your own risk but I just don t see why you wouldn t go somewhere else to be safe. My two cents.

Excellent service, got me in on a Friday afternoon, diagnosed the issues with my jeep quickly, even though they were more extensive than I had hoped. They also worked to find after market costs to reduce the price, was available for calls and texts all weekend even though they were closed, and got my car finished as quickly as possible on Monday so I could get back to the rest of life. Highly recommend.

Amazing service! Amazing value! I don't know that I could ever give them any higher praise than to say that my wife loves them all. It's a Sunday and our regular mechanic was not open, but Preferred Auto Repair was, and they saved us by diagnosing and repairing the alternator problem we were having. Plus, the slowly leaking tire was professionally repaired. My wife was able to safely drive to Pacific Grove and to enjoy the much needed time off, away from the stresses of her business, to spend some much - needed time off to relax by the ocean due to our new regular mechanic: Fernando and his team!

Needed to install airlift bags in our RAV4, a very difficult task that I could not do in the driveway. Got a few estimates and the consensus was that this is a tough job requiring the rear suspension to be dropped in order to insert the bags into the springs. Fernando was straightforward, transparent and delivered on his estimate.He provides Carfax updates for routine service the same as a dealer at a much lower price point. If you need an oil change it will be logged in Carfax when you sell your car. I have found my new mechanic since my previous mechanic retired.Service: Steering & suspension repair

Be ready to pay high if you prefer this service guys.. Below is my personal experience and the Car is Junk now.I set my CAR for service on 8/13/2021.The request was for Engine oli change, break check, Engine check as there was some noise at the start of the car and engine light blinked couple of times.After the thorough check they suggested to change series of things: Coolant flush, Engine Flush, Fuel injector cleaning, Spark Plug change, Valve cover Gasket change & Variable Valve Timing Control Solenoid change & Break change. To service this they charged me $2.2K for my 2007 Mazda.Took the car on Friday and added 30~35 miles and the car broke down near to Santa Cruz on Sunday 8/15/2021. There was lot of smoke in bonnet and inside car. We were not able to see anything outside. It was dangerous. The car didn't start. Called Service guy to check the fault about this. They stated that this might have not happened because of their service, he needs to check for details and notified that he will do repair if its his issue. I towed the car to his service station for check.The next day, he stated that there was no coolant and oil, the pressure got built up and the engine exploded because of weak Engine & Piston rod. The connecting rod and cylinder has ruptured creating hole on top of the engine cap. This has nothing to do with Service is what he claims.I don't believe this. The whole thing look like there was a coolant arrest and the Engine got heated up. The pressure was built and the cylinder exploded because of heat arrest. This is possible only if the coolant is not getting circulated to Engineer while it is running. I suspect the above service would have caused this. May be misalignment of gasket or engine assembly or some thing left out in the process. If everything was done well, the service guy should have checked this before he delivered me the car.Value Added Cost of going to this Service is: Engine replacement - 4K to 6K as per the Fernando, on top of the 2.2K service charge which was spent for nothing. I feel that i got robbed.All this happened in just 2 days. Just be careful with this service team. He charges exorbitant and claims no fault of his, if it fails.This is the state of my Engine after spending 2.2K.. Rather, i would have got a good used Engine for that price.. Now the car is unusable.. :-(JFYI - The car has been serviced every year.. It was serviced a year back and i got the report.Also, after the service, you have added engine oil, coolant, engine flush, gasket change, and still the cylinder erupted, don't you think its too much?More over, if you would have told that this is not worth 2.2K of service, i would have stopped the service. You just wanted to take 2.2K and then state that engine health is not good. Any good mechanic wouldn't do that.I also don't believe that Engine will go bad just with 104K miles..I am amazed to see your response after you make me pay for your mistake.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Brake service & repair, Oil change
