Don is the best. Positive attitude and knows his stuff. Had a hitch installed twice once for a bike carrier then a trailer. He works with you to make sure its right. More recently had a catalytic converter put in at significant savings from other estimate.

My cat converter was stolen off my '04 Toyota Corolla. I called various shops around the Bay Area, and when I spoke to Don, he gave me so much confidence around their ability to get it done swiftly and efficiently. He was incredibly patient and upbeat EVERY TIME I called (and I called A LOT) and managed to get it all done on a Friday before a holiday weekend. I'm so grateful to Don and the team at Johnny Franklin's and highly recommend them!Service: Exhaust

A HUGE THANK YOU to Johnny Franklin's San Rafael for not just getting me all sorted out in a pinch but also for reasonable pricing and the time in and out of the shop!I came in at a last minute call and they somehow got me in which was great. The Manager Paul was ridiculously busy answering call and managing the store. We chat briefly about what needed to be done and he got me on a rack for my requested repair.During the repair process there was an unfortunate incident that took place and Paul was responsive and more than fair with "making things right"I would highly recommend this shop!

We brought in our Prius to have them install a shield to protect the Catalytic Converter. Super friendly, you could sense the owner genuinely cared about his customers. Price was very fair and work was done quickly. I highly recommend them.

Great shop and great people. I backed my wife s Volvo XC60 into a rock and broke the exhaust tip off. They fixed the broken tail pipe quickly at a great price. Will 100% go back.

My girl came here and i was shocked for the price and experience. Am glad the people here are kind and give good pricing. Most mechanics i have experienced are grumpy , skeevy and dead inside. Lets hope i keep coming back here for a while. Thanks again for the help.

They installed some air shocks on my truck and they left bolts loose. The also installed a muffler with a cheap welded brackets which gave no give for the exhaust system which optimally cracked the joints. Shoddy workService: Steering & suspension repairService: Steering & suspension repair

I've been here twice for relatively small things. Once to weld an exhaust hanger back on, and this time to get a small section of exhaust re-routed. Both times they were super friendly, quick, fairly priced, and did great work. Highly recommended!Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

Great work, unbeatable price. Just checked my car at the shop and saw a catalytic thief had been thwarted by their custom shielding.Normal Cat shields can't stop thieves these days but the extra welding from this shop just saved my Prius.

I highly recommend bringing your car to Johnny Franklin's for any exhaust work. They finished my car the same day and did a great job. The price was very fair and they were honest and helpful. I'm glad I was referred here by several people because they're awesome.

These guys are the best. They did a catalytic converter replacement for me years ago, and while at a smog station I was not going to pass smog because the serial number was worn. I was able to call Don at JFM and he quickly got me the info that the smog station needed. Amazing record keeping!Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

These folks are awesome! When we had multiple vehicles vandalized (catalytic converter thefts), they got the work done so quickly, and cost less than estimates. Don was especially cordial and helpful. I highly recommend them!

This is only place I trust both my Audi and Sequoia for exhaust and suspension work. Very professional and friendly. Quick too. Great prices. Great work. Even my Audi mechanic was impressed with quality of welds on my exhaust.

hi all, i want to share a rare and most appreciated moment of car repair. i took my wife's auto to our go to Mill Valley repair shop, Muligani Tire . As always, they over perform and service anyones auto as it was their own. Our car developed a loud and unerviing rattle and vibration. The crew at Muligani felt it as the muffler and referred us to Johhny Franklins Muffler shop in San Rafael. I called today at 1:35 to make an appointment to come by. Don answered and said they are no appoinments and first come first served. I arrived at 2 pm. they took our car in 3 minutes later. they asssesed the loose skid and exhaust protection plate. 5 minutes later they tack welded the parts back together and said "you are good to go". I asked how much do i owe you. the response..."nothing we are all good, some day you will need us and we will be here"in these times of difficult supply chain moments and hard to find labor along with rising prices all around, my wife and I found this type of service oriented effort hard to believe. it just doesnt happen much of late.we have no doubt that anyone who needs any type of muffler or other auto work done, would not come away with the same feelings after a visit to Johnny Franklins. there are fewer and fewer true, passionate service oriented businesses out there and we are very very happy to have found these folks. top notch, professional, honest and just down to earth good people.g&fService: Exhaust

Fast and efficient. They got my car turned around quickly and did a really fantastic job of making it all look good. The price for my Civic Si was 30% of what the Honda dealership was asking for. Will definitely go back if I have another car that needs muffler work.

I got excellent and friendly service at Johnny Franklin Muffler. After getting an estimate for almost 700.00 for a muffler job at Midas, my mechanic suggested I go to Johnny Franklin. I was so glad I did. Don explained what needed to be done, they had the part and finished the job in 1/2 hour for 500.00 less than my previous estimate. I can t say enough. I m so impressed.

Johnny's muffler installed a catalytic converter shield for my Prius. There has been an uptick of thefts and so it was time to take precaution! I purchased the Shield online and Johnny's muffler installed it for $100. First come first serve so I arrived by 10 a.m. and they did it within an hour. Definitely accommodating and affordable. Highly recommend. Thank you Johnny's Muffler

Did not rip me off! I took my girlfriends Nissan in because of a noise we thought was a loose muffler. It was an hour wait but pleasant and cold water was available to drink in the waiting room. After they lifted the car they discovered an oil leak and gave me a referral to the appropriate auto repair shop. Didn't charge me anything for the muffler inspection!

I came here today after a very good experience 20 yeara ago. After trying to smog my car I was under the impression I needed new catalytic converters. They immediately put my car on the lift for an inspection, at which point they discovered that there was no need to replace the converters. Don even went so far as to call the shop that had tried to smog my car to discuss. He brought me next door to introduce me to a local smog station, and in the end I was not even charged. I ended up passing smog there and saved hundreds if not more because of Johnny Franklin's honesty and courtesy. I cannot recommend them enough!

They installed a class III trailer hitch on a 2020 Forester in under an hour. Involved significant disassembly of part of exhaust system, cutting sheet metal heat shields, etc. and reassembly. Professional. Courteous. Honest prices. Will go back for other services. Trust them.

Having learned about this outfit in high school and my various vehicles that needed exhaust or driveline service. This was and is the place to go. Especially if you've experienced the latest catalytic pandemic! Wonderful staff too to boot!

IMPRESSED. 1st time customer. Installed theft-reduction rods to minimize likelyhood of having catalytic converter stolen. (Next door neighbor had their's stolen in 5 mins, in broad daylight, while another neighbor looked on, " I didn't realize what was going on, it happened SO fast." Shop got me in quick, and did good fast job for a reasonable price. Had yummy Peet's coffee while waited one hour. Recommended.

I work for a body shop and we send all the exhaust repairs to Johnny Franklin's. I took my car there for some work and am very happy. Great job, great price. Fantastic shop and service.
