I had my 2015 Jeep Rubicon serviced at Golden Gate Jeep on 4 occasions. Each time, Phil s work was quick, quality, and communication was good. The best place to get your Jeep serviced in the Bay Area, full stop. Phil is pragmatic, kind, and patient, along with being deeply experienced and skilled. Most of the time, he's trying to convince me to spend less money on my Jeep. This is a good sign :)

The only place I want to take a Jeep from now on.We were running out of hope to fix our Jeep, after another repair shop strung us along for months about there being a parts shortage. We called Golden Gate Jeep, and Phil fit us in quickly to give a second opinion. He was quickly able to dispel what the other shop told us, and fit us in to fix our Jeep a week later, with no surprises cost-wise.Phil is phenomenal, and we can't recommend bringing your jeep here highly enough. Thanks Phil!

Phil and his team are experts. I don't trust anyone else with my Jeep, and have had the pleasure of tasking Phil since 2009 when he was in the City. I now trek to San Rafael because it's worth it.Recently, they replaced the CAT on my 2004 Wrangler, as well as transmission the year before. Even if it's aging, Phil fixes it and it feels brand new. The CAT part was out of stock and no future production known but Phil searched far and wide to find an authentic one. He actually had to reverse a terrible job done by a local muffler shop. Won't bore you with that, but know this place won't swindle you. Phil's honest, hard-working, and highly trained.I'd give 10 if I could! For any car, trust these guys. San Rafael is so lucky to have him.

Phil and his team at Golden Gate Jeep are the best! To be clear, a Jeep Wrangler is a weird car I don t know another car with a fold-down windshield and lift-out roof panels so a specialized mechanic is going to be a real partner and source of helpful knowledge about your car.This shop has the chops to truly support the Jeep owner throughout their Jeeping journey. When I bought a Jeep, I asked my aunt, a long-time Wrangler-owner, where she took her car. She instantly recommended Phil, and when I called, he was warm and personable, clearly remembering my aunt was and her car. I knew then that this was going to be pretty special place.Now, a decade later and a move across the bridge, I m still all-in for Phil and his team. I ve spent plenty of cash over the years, sure, but I ve also saved a lot because of Phil s keen eye for preventative maintenance and smart replacements.He is quick to replace cheap breakable parts that are accessible briefly during a repair, saving you a ton on labor down the line, and he is great at triage, helping a budget-conscious owner make informed choices.Perhaps the most important point I have to make is that Phil is HONEST and in it for the long haul. I have no doubt that my aunt didn t know a differential from a disc brake, but I am certain she received the same excellent, customized service I love at the same prices. Phil is committed to cultivating relationships with customers, providing stable and well-compensated employment to his team, and doing his part to ensure that SF s Jeeps stay shiny side up and their owners happy.If you care about your Jeep and live in the 415, Golden Gate Jeep is the clear choice.

Phil and his team at Golden Gate Jeep are amazing. His decades of experience gives you a level of understanding diagnosing problems you just can't get at the dealer. My '07 JK with 175k miles owes a lot of it's longevity to the care we get from GGJ

Great place for Jeep maintenance! I drive 40 miles one way to get my Jeep serviced here. Phil is very straight to the point and doesn't try to upsell you. Any concerns you have about your Jeep, Phil will take a look and let you know if there is anything that is of serious concern. It has never taken more than a hour to my have Jeep serviced. There is a nice coffee shop with free wifi down the street while your Jeep is being serviced. Highly recommend Golden Gate Jeep!

I had read a few reviews on Golden Gate Jeep and brought my 99' XJ in for an inspection (brakes, a transmission line repair I had done myself, etc.). They have great hours - I met Phil at 7am after calling him the day before. He was very polite and professional (clearly loves Jeeps!) and told me I'd get a call back later that day.He called me back in a few hours after taking a look and went line by line on each of my concerns. He was very honest - told me exactly what needed to be done and when (tie rods, brakes, fuel pump).I really appreciated the service and will be back in the future!

I've been going to Golden Gate Jeep for service for at least a dozen years, and have been in with several different Jeep vehicles over the years. Phil, the owner, is one of those increasingly rare business people who you can really trust to do the right thing, for a fair price. When he tells me something needs to be done, I know I can believe him. He never tries to talk me into something that doesn't really need to be done. Even though I no longer live near San Francisco, I visit occasionally for business, and make a point of taking my Jeep to Golden Gate Jeep for service while I'm there if it needs service.

I have been customer of Phil's for a very long time.He moved from San Francisco to San Rafael recently.I am now driving to San Rafael.Phil is the only person I will trust with my Jeep.He is the freaking best!!!!!!!

Phil was so helpful with me and my Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was informative, and you can tell KNOWS his stuff about Jeeps. He honestly just seems like an extremely genuine guy. I highly, highly recommend him. His customer service was excellent.

I've only been able to make it up to the San Rafael location once since GGJ has moved out from SF, but I'm still thankful they're a close drive for when I need it. I can't say enough good things about Phil and his crew at GGJ; they've helped keep my '99 Wrangler TJ on the road for a long time now, just a few months shy of 10 years right in SF. The team here has been able to assist me with everything from small maintenance, fluid and tire changes, to major labor for replacing brake lines, working on the transmission and suspension, and always get the job done right without any followup needed. They are an honest and highly professional team, never try to upsell or get you to take on unneccesary services.My only complaint is that they moved out of SF, and they don't have weekend hours- but that doesn't lose any stars from me because of their exceptional service. Thanks GGJ Team!

Phil should win shop owner of the year! My alternator went out last night while driving. I was able to get a tow to park outside Golden Gate Jeep's garage. I called as soon as they opened and told Phil what happened. He said "he was on it" and was he ever. He said he had to charge the battery first and confirm it was the alternator. He also said he would have the car by noon. A couple of hours later he called and said it was the alternator and that he couldn't find a new part locally but luckily had a refurbished one for half price with a one year warranty. I said, "I'll take it!", So I got my problem fixed in 3 hrs at half price. Woo-haw!!

I've owned two Jeeps and have been taking them to Phil and Golden Gate Jeep for the past 5+ yrs. They are phenomenal, extremely professional, and very open & honest. They were a big reason why I bought my second Jeep; because I knew I had a reliable place to take it and they always do an incredible job.

Just got off the phone w/. Phil who is extremely busy and he went out of his way to talk about how to fix a Jeep Wrangler ignition switch. This showed me the type of pro this man is via cust. service. More to follow as I will potentially use Phil for all things JEEP in the future! Thank You Phil!

HORRIBLE GUY NAMED PHIL SUPER SUPER RUDE, called in yesterday to get an oil change for my jeep and they articulated it was first come first serve. I call back today to see how busy it was and a guy named PHIL answered and was entirely rude to me. He made me so mad that I have never answered a good review until now. I wish that guy gets fired for how rude he was to me. He wouldn't even let me acquire a word out over the phone saying that they were too busy for me to come in today and that I could drop my car and maybe they might have it done in the morning, but WHO KNOWS because I'm calling too late and that I can only get it changed in the mornings.HORRIBLE STAY AWAY FROM HERE W THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I took my jeep here for a 15k mile servicing. These guys are honest, straightforward, and efficient. If for whatever reason you can't make it back to their shop before they close for the day (happened to me), they'll park your car in the parking garage next door and arrange for a key pickup. I'll be coming back.

I visited Phil s shop and he told me I had a blown gasket and it would cost $3672.28 to repair the vehicle. He also discouraged me from visiting a dealer as he would hate to see me get ripped off. I then took my Jeep to the dealer as it was under warranty and they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car and the head gasket absolutely did not blow.I had to pay for a tow truck & take time off work only to find out that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. I ve also driven the car from San Francisco to LA to verify that it wasn t a mistake on the dealers end. To me this is nothing more than purposefully misleading and taking advantage of a young woman. If my Jeep wasn t under warranty, I would have likely taken his advice and paid over $3,500 out of pocket for unneeded repairs.Since then Phil has said that he stands by his assessment but you cannot misdiagnose a gasket being blown it either is or it isn t. I ve reported him to the BBB and goal is really to ensure that no other customer or potential customer in San Francisco is taken advantage of by this shop. I ve attached the quotes so you can see for yourself.
