I've had 2 Saab's serviced there after 2 shops failed to resolve electrical issues from engine replacement. I have to say, VERY THOROUGH and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Cheaper than the dealerships, topnotch work! Through trial and error from previous shops, Bo and his band of professional mechanics tediouslyresolved all problematic drivetrain issues with my 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero and 2006 9-3 Aero. This is no Saab/sob story, just facts. Happy to be rolling again!Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic

Best European Mechanics in Northern California. What other mechanics found difficult to find reason for mechanicals, Patrick shoots right to the heart of the problem! My 1994 Volvo wagon never ran better! Thanks Patrick

I had the most amazing experience dealing directly with Bo at Bo Jonsson's Foreign Car Service after a harrowing experience where my 2006 Eclipse lost an axle on the freeway as I started a trip back home to Los Angeles. I was desperate to get it fixed and get back on the road. Bo went above and beyond to help me out.The damage was extensive and required a new axle, but they could not find a vital additional piece on such short notice to make it work (no surprise given the age of my car). Despite this setback, Bo and his team were undaunted and went to extraordinary lengths to manually fabricate a repair to the damaged piece. To my surprise, they completed the entire job in just one day!Not only did they fix my car, but Bo also gave me an office to work in all day and provided me with invaluable insights about what had happened. He truly went out of his way to ensure that I was taken care of.The best part? The price they charged me was unbelievably reasonable given the quality of service I received. I have never seen such great value for what I paid for a car repair before. It's clear that Bo and his team are passionate about what they do and genuinely care about their customers.Overall, I can't recommend this auto repair shop enough. I only wish they were closer to where I live in Los Angeles. If you're in the San Mateo area and need your car fixed, this is the place to go. Thank you, Bo and team, for going above and beyond to get me back on the road!

Pat has been the only mechanic I let work on my Subaru and never had any issues or failures. He is honest when addressing concerns about the car and never forced me todo any repairs that were not necessary. He is a stand up guy and has a great team working for him. I would highly recommend his service.

Jonsson s is fair and honest. I highly recommend them. Patric is the owner and Pete was my mechanic. Don t go to Peter Pan BMW service because they will rip you off. Go to Jonsson sI had a convertible problem on my 2009 BMW convertible top. BMW quoted me $2614.26 (see photos) and Bo Jonsson charged me essentially $150. They are honest and did a great job. See attached photos of the quotes and problem. BMW tried to gouge me for sure.I said his price was essentially $150 because I only had a problem with the right side and asked them to replace the left side as it would wear out soon. So total for both sides was $298.57Here s the detail. The inside of my c pillar is covered with a cosmetic trim piece. It closes and opens as the top goes up and down. There is a cable that attaches to the trim piece and routes to a spring anchor location in the trunk. That cable got stretched and the trim piece did not close correctly. See photos.I took it to Patric at Bo Jonsson and he said an estimate of 2 hrs but he would only charge me for the actual time. I took it to BMW after that and explained in detail to the service manager and showed him the cable replacement. Then he responded by saying that the whole rail trim piece with cables would have to be replaced. I tried to explain that it didn t make sense but all he did was repeat himself. Quote was $2616.14. Attempted rip off failed as I went to Jonsson s!I took it to Bo Jonsson the next day and watched the mechanic Pete repair it. He did both sides at 1.75 hrs which was less than the 2 hrs Patric quoted!

I picked up my boyfriend here after he dropped of his old volvo. We both had to wait at the front desk and noticed how the owner was so weird and abrasive to us and his staff. The creepy man then began mumbling to himself. OMG. The mechanics all looked like they'd been abused and just seemed so sad. What a strange and dark place! I convinced my boyfriend to find another shop!

I was considering buying a used car with a "clean" Carfax report & brought it in for a quick check before making the transaction. Pat walked me through the detailed inspection that showed evidence of hidden damage, repainting & other mechanical & body issues that were not being disclosed. This is the kind of honest & efficient service that I have always experienced at Bo Jonsson's, always friendly & reliable. 100% trust given!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

Patric helped me find a Subaru last spring and he did such a great job that I haven't had to do any repairs yet! I'm now looking for a replacement for our other car and once again Patric has been incredibly helpful. He is straightforward, honest, transparent, and most importantly -- accurate. I've brought a few Volvo XC90s for him to inspect and he has identified specific reasons why I should pass on each car. His focus on building and maintaining long term relationships with his customer is impressive.

Bo Jonsson s saved our vacation! Our Volvo C30's shifter got stuck while we were visiting the area and driving into San Francisco every day. Patric let us borrow a classic volvo 240 wagon and we kept our vacation going until he had the shifter working again. It was a ton of fun to drive the 240 since I used to have a similar model. And he fixed the shifter in time for us to head home. He had good insight into what went wrong and helped me understand the issue well. Thanks Patric!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I was going on a road trip and had my local mechanic do a once over. He did a couple fixes and said I was good to go. 1.5 hrs into my trip my car started having serious issues. I brought it to Bo Jonsson's and he went through the car and found every issue my normal mechanic missed and found a way to bypass a part and save me $1,000. He explained everything and taught me things about my car I didn't know. He also had me bring it back again before I went back to my road trip to top off all fluids and check everything again for free. I wished I lived local so I could make this my permanent mechanicServices: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine tuning, Wheel alignment, Oil change

Bo Jonsson's does an amazing job in customer service. They were incredibly helpful and patient with my needs. When my car broke down, they gave me a thorough explanation of the cause of the incident, the costs to repair, and a recommendation for what I should do. As someone who isn't very knowledgeable about cars, I really appreciated the attention and explanation they gave me! If you experience unforeseen car trouble in the area, 100% recommend heading to Bo Jonsson's if you want to experience the best customer service and trusted auto repair advice! Thank you so much!!!

Awesome mechanic. Patric takes the time to explain everything that's going on with your car. They installed a new engine in my Volvo last week and it's been running great. I'll miss going here for service now that I moved out of town.

I have had 3 different cars serviced at Bo Jonsson's and each experience has been the same - EXCELLENT! Honest service for a fair price and no extra charges. Its rare to find an honest shop that does excellent work. I have recommended the shop to friends and relatives. If you need it done right the first time then stop here!!!

I usually don't write reviews, but in this is a special case.TL;DRPat is a rare bird in the auto service industry in that he has an honest, common sense approach and will do what is best for you, instead of trying to inflate prices or repairs. He also provides very fast service too! He literally saved me thousands of dollars in repair bills that others wanted to charge me.Full Story:I ran over something on the 101 that left a 4 inch puncture in the floor of my Mercedes. I had the insurance handle the repair and took it to their body shop- big mistake. Two days later, I find out they are are trying to disassemble THE ENTIRE VEHICLE to repair what is essentially just a hole in a non-critical area. They said that the repair would be a minimum of $12,000 and could possibly total the vehicle. The reason- they wanted to replace the entire floor pan, which is factory welded to almost every other part of the vehicle, including transmission, the dash, the frame, etc. This certainly would have created more problems than it solved. It took a week just to get my vehicle back in one piece. After calling around and talking to other body shops, they all gave some bogus line about needing to know how much the insurance was paying me to fix the vehicle so they could "estimate the work". None of them gave me answers that I felt were appropriate. I called Pat because I had used his services before and was looking for advice. After explaining the situation, Pat listened to my concerns and came up with a aviation style solution in less than 1 minute that met all my requirements. Plus, Pat completed the repair in less than 24 hours!I have no connection with Pat or his shop and I am writing this review voluntarily. If this story doesn't sway you, I don't know what will.

Had my Volvo towed here last week from San Francisco - in a pinch and needed help with a somewhat complicated job. Received the recommendation of Bo Jonsson's from where I purchase my tires. I was absolutely impressed. The work was done faster than expected, high quality and competitive price. This will be my designated Volvo go-to place.

I've been a Saab owner for a while and a Saab enthusiast for even longer. Saabs are built like tanks and are very reliable IF properly cared for. Bo Jonsson's is just the place to care for your Saab. My service tech, Patric, was meticulous in his work and listened to every one of my concerns. The attention he gave me and the attention to detail in his work is outstanding. I will certainly be coming back anytime my Saab needs service.

I brought my Volvos to this shop for the past 10+ years. They always make sure my cars are fixed/serviced in the most professional (and also economical) way. I would recommend it to any Volvo owners nearby. They should stop going to the dealership for service as soon as the car is no longer covered by the free maintenance.

FANTASTIC SERVICE from Patric. I have been coming here for a little while now, and found myself needing an axle replaced on my XV Crosstrek at 118k miles. We ended up going with a non-OEM part at my request, which started causing trouble later on. Patric helped me out a bunch in the end, so make sure you listen to him from the start!

You get your moneys worth. no games. and the work is perfect. These people are very professional. Which is hard to find nowadays. I have been to many shops on the peninsula, what a joke. Many of these places will charge old people $5000 for a oil leak, on a 2 year old car. Or for a new transmission on a 2 year old car. $5000. No warranty coverage. Johnsons gararage is the place. Thank you Bo for the great work.

Scheduled a car inspection several days ago. I actually double checked the date and time before the day. I called them this morning before my appointment. The man told me that my appointment was not on the list and I had to reschedule. No sorry, no apology! I m not sure if they are good businessmen who you want to deal with.

After years of bad experiences with various European car mechanics up and down the peninsula, I finally found the one! Patrick is a trustworthy, experienced, no BS professional - my new go-to mechanic, and I would recommend to absolutely anyone.

I've owned 4 cars (saab, VW, volvo) and had them serviced at about a dozen places in the northeast, midwest, rockies, CA, etc. Jonsson's is the best experience I've ever had and it isn't really close.

My trusted mechanic. I have 3 Saabs, and anything I can't do myself I take to Pat. Communication is good, work is done to a high standard. As well as European cars they also service Subarus and Mazdas.

Think the mechanic is ripping people off with suggestions to buy cars from people as though its a great deal only soon after spending too much money they break down and you end up taking it to him to fix at a high cost.

I have been to a lot of shops and this place is the best experience that I have had. I'm sure they would do a great job but they especially know the intricacies of Saabs.
