I found SoCal Auto by searching "Nissan Mechanic and San Marcos". I had a check engine light on and needed a part replaced. Chris gave a fair quote and the work was done quickly. I later returned for several needed maintenance issues and SoCal Auto again did great work. Chris is a straight shooter and took the time to answer all my questions with utmost professionalism. The icing on the cake is his shop dog. Such a cool pup!!! THANK YOU SoCal Auto!!!!!!!

SoCal Auto has been such a consistent and professional help to me for the past three years. I have a 23-year-old car that I have brought in several times for various issues. Every time I bring it in, Chris is patient and thorough with checking out the car and explaining what s wrong so that I can understand. Taking your car to the mechanic is usually such a hassle but with SoCal Auto it s the simplest process with incredibly friendly people and reasonable pricing. I recently discovered So Cal Auto, and I can't emphasize enough just how genuine and extremely honest the shop and the owner is. My experiences at So Cal Auto have been pleasant, and the staff and service have been beyond helpful. Not only that, but the integrity of this establishment goes beyond what I could have hoped for.I brought my (very old) Ford Escape in because of a persistent air conditioner issue, and Chris worked tirelessly to diagnose and resolve the problem. He tried multiple approaches and invested considerable time and effort in troubleshooting. However, he came to the conclusion that fixing the air conditioner would not worth it for me financially in the end.What truly sets Chris and So Cal Auto apart is the honesty and integrity he displayed during this process. Despite having already spent $400+ on parts, he genuinely didn't want to charge me anything from the original estimate. I insisted on reimbursing him for the parts, as it was only fair, but his reluctance to overcharge me was truly commendable.The service at So Cal Auto is top-notch. Chris is not just a skilled mechanic; he is also personable and friendly. He takes the time to explain things in a way that's easy to understand, making you feel confident that you're making informed decisions about your vehicle. His willingness to work with anyone in any financial situation is truly exceptional.For people like me (females) who have history and concerns about being taken advantage of when it comes to car matters, I can wholeheartedly say that So Cal Auto is a place you can trust. Chris's flexibility, honesty, and genuine approach to his work are attributes that are becoming increasingly rare to find in any industry. Chris, you re awesome. When you have a 20 year old car, you definitely feel like no one will tell it to you straight. Chris did. I didn t feel like I was being man-splained or convinced of anything. He checked the car out, told me what was going on and was even nice enough to show me. Perhaps it s true that there are good people in the world either way, if you re looking for a shop, go here.

Chris is not only an amazing mechanic, he s also one of the nicest guys I ve ever met. Dealership wanted to charge $650+ to replace the O2 sensor in my Kia and said I would have to reschedule my appointment but Chris got the part the next morning after only finding out what I needed at 4:55pm. The price was cut in half AND he drove me home and picked me up. We just moved to San Marcos and have found out new mechanic. Highly recommend. (Btw, the Kia dealership was also great, just pricey!)Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair

After my car randomly decided to flash every warning light imaginable, I needed a trustworthy mechanic to take it to ASAP. When others couldn't get me in or would charge an arm and a leg for a look, Chris offered a complimentary inspection and took care of the problem right away. He was honest, quick, convenient, and got the job done and got me back on the road in no time. He'll be me and my family's first call the next time our vehicles need servicing. So rare to find an honest affordable mechanic. We had such a tight time crunch because my kids were in town and their car broke down. The dealership tried to charge us 3 times the amount. Would recommend to anyone.

Extremely professional business, there were no arm twisting sales pitch, just a straight forward, here's what's wrong and this is how we'll fix it. The repairs on my jeep were completed in a timely fashion at a reasonable cost. Oh and they are a L.E friendly business. Chris was an awesome mechanic. Super friendly, helpful and definitely an expert in his field. Made a appt for a used car inspection next day and he was able to fit me in and gave me thorough results and an honest opinion. Refused to take my money for the inspection! Love this place. Definitely coming back here to Chris for any problems with my car in the future. The epc light was on on my 2014 vw Jetta, Chris was able to spot the problem in minutes (Just needed an oil change). It might sound like it s not a big deal for a mechanic to spot such a minor issue, but I can tell you that it s not the case! The mechanic I went to before coming here told me that I needed to replace the oil pressure switch and the power control, which would unnecessarily cost a fortune.5 star experience!

Amazing place. Good service. Great prices. Honest mechanics are hard to come - this is definitely one of the good ones. Been here with multiple vehicles and have never had a problem with them. Highly recommend.

I came all the way from Downtown to see Chris, he came so highly recommended. He handles both my parents' vehicles, all the vehicles in my brother's household, and now mine. Before calling him for a quote, I had checked with five different shops. They were all much higher in price, but much lower in immediate confidence. I had no doubt everything was going to go great after I spoke with Chris the first time for less than 3 minutes. I didn't know it at the time, but he had intervened for my mom when my dad was gone on a trip, and he even made a house call to put her at ease. I felt like he really showed my mom a lot of courtesy and respect, and she trusts him completely.Once I got to his shop, it was the cleanest I had ever seen which immediately reminded me of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. When I met Chris in person finally, he exuded so much competence and mindfulness. His extremely well behaved and kind dog Rocko really completes the atmosphere. Afterward, my car felt extremely solid, and I feel much more confident in driving it toward the top end of its performance. I anticipate being a customer for life. There's no reason to go anywhere else in the county.

Chris is amazing! He made me feel comfortable, and was fast and efficient when I had him do my brakes/rotors. Chris is fantastic. He was quick in his response for a quote on a check engine light issue (I already had the code ). Scheduling was easy. He is fair and upfront with pricing and potential issues. The shop was clean and tidy. I will be a repeat customer and would recommend to him to all.

I have been coming here for years now, and I have only good things to say about SoCal Auto. They do excellent work, have very fair prices, and never try to sell you services you don t need. Chris always goes above and beyond to help his customers, and I am very happy to have found such an honest and trustworthy repair shop in the area. Highly recommended!

Working with Chris was wonderful. He's easy to work with, wants car owners to understand what needs repairing (and what does not) & why, explains things clearly, is friendly, honest and completed the work faster than promised. His shop was clean and everyone there was courteous. Chris repaired our radiator for much less than the smog shop that diagnosed the problem (and he told us we did not need the brake job that the other mechanic recommended). Thank you for making repairing our beloved Subaru a pleasant experience. We have already recommended him to a several friends & will continue to do so.

I just found a new mechanic. Chris made me and my wife confident we came to the right place. Originally, we were heading for the dealership. Then, a friend told us about SoCal Auto. Their recommendation was "spot on". This IS the place to go. The work was done professionally and in a timely manner. I don't see myself going anywhere else for ANY auto problems. Thanks Chris, it runs like NEW!!!

I very much appreciated the quick service from Chris. My car issue wasn t major, however, service was delivered professionally. The top piece of the intake on my Sentra had come apart, so Chris refitted and reclamped the hosing and I was on my way. The most wonderful part? Though I offered cash after he indicated no payment was due, he still refused to accept a tip. Thank you so much for your kindness! This shop has demonstrated amazing customer service as well as good old fashioned manners. I will be returning for some routine services though I don t reside in the immediate area. Thanks, again Chris!

EXCEPTIONAL! As a woman it can be daunting to find an honest mechanic. Chris IS honestly honest! LOL! Thought I needed brakes due to a slight squeak. Chris could have told me I did - but he did the admirable thing and told me I won't need them for another 30K miles! Highly Recommend So Cal Auto!

The owner, Shawn, is honest, a fine all around mechanic.His estimates are his final charge.He is very careful to "make sure of all things" for his customers.His family is with him during this Covid-19 time, and their youthful addition to Shawn's business is refreshing, and fun!His time and work for my Big Block RV has been an affordable "learning experience"...if you have questions about your repair, he takes the time to Explain Things!Thank you SoCal Auto on Wintergardens.Thank you Shawn...By-lingual too!
