Had issues with my EVAP emissions. I can always count on Coastal Car Care to figure out the issue and now everything is running perfectly. Such a great crew and love seeing Cory running the front now. I highly recommend Coastal Car Care to everyone. Inverter went out on my 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. New part from Toyota runs about $6K. Car with no issues is worth $8K-$11K. Coastal shopped the part and found a used one with warranty. When the part arrived it was severely damaged and Coastal skillfully combined parts from that inadequate inverter with my failed one. This is a wonderful family business that goes the distance to provide impeccable customer service and value. Try them out you won t be sorry!

I have a Nissan 1986.5 hard body 4x4 pickup. The guys at Coastal Car Care in San Marcos have been a godsend! They were able to get my truck smogged last year by working their magic. In the time since then they have kept me on the road and been very courteous and provided top notch service. It's hard to find a quality shop who will work on older vehicles. And on top of that they are family owned! The team at Coastal Car Care were very professional and experienced. I brought my Tacoma for some headlight and tail light installation issues I came across. They were able to diagnose and fix the problem I was having that same day. 11/5/2023 updateStill going here to this day.. best and most trusted service ever.. would recommend to anybody looking for a mechanic that can get your car running right and do it fair.. still have my 2010 Hyundai Elantra running like new 120k+2019 original review.My experience at Coastal Car Care have so far been very positive and it is definitely a trusted place to get your car fixed .. I probably be working on my own car if it wasn't for a physical disability and I'm definitely aware of some of the shady stuff that goes on in the auto repair industry nowadays dealerships are just as bad .. however I'm happy to report Coastal car Care is not one of them and they definitely exceed my expectations as I personally check over the work that is done to verify that all parts were changed and everything is properly seated and or tightened and my 2010 Hyundai Elantra with over 90k miles has been running better than ever thanks to the help of Coastal Car Care..I will continue to come back and send people your way..Thanks again Coastal Car Care

Awesome experience. Great family-owned auto shop here in SM. I was referred here by AAA after a slight issue with my front right wheel. I spoke with Michele on the phone and she got me set up right away with an appointment to bring my Subaru in. She was very kind and answered any questions I had.After the car inspection, Cory, one of the mechanics, explained to me that the problem wasn't anything that required service. Being a layman when it comes to automobiles leaves you somewhat at the mercy of the mechanic. I appreciate his honesty.I had not had my car serviced in quite some time because I was avoiding that nightmare of dealing with the dealerships. Cory took the time to explain the things to me that he saw needed attention.The service to the vehicle itself was prompt, quick, and professional. I received my car back in far less time than initially quoted.It can be very difficult to find a good and honest local mechanic, especially if you don't know anything about cars. I am very relieved to have found this place and will definitely be coming back for anything my family's cars need.Highly recommend!

I had my son take his 97 Wrangler TJ there for an exhaust repair. Shawn at the shop really went above and beyond to help him out. He fixed/welded the muffler for a very reasonable price. Shawn then gave it a quick once over and said the rear bumper was missing some bolts and loose and so he took care of it.My son said he was treated well and felt very confident about the shop and their service.Great job Shawn and Coastal Car Care. I brought my truck in to have a set of aftermarket adjustable upper control arms installed and a wheel alignment. They did an outstanding job on both the install and the alignment. Very helpful, nice folks, even a shop dog! I have a 2003 Thunderbird - hard to work on, nearly impossible to get parts. I've been trying for a year to get her convertible roof hydraulics fixed or replaced. Finally, someone pointed me to Coastal. They diagnosed my problem quicker than estimated and knew they could fix it. The estimate for repair is much less time and money than expected. Tony and Glen are my new favorite people!

I have been taking my Cars to Coastal Car Care ever since they first opened. I have a Classic "hot rod" 57 Chevy Bel Air that they take care of for me. They also take care of my 2016 Nissan Rogue as well as my wifes 2016 Lexus. I have recommended them to all my friends as well as my Car Club members of The Heartbeat Classics. Our first time taking our van here for 100,000 mile servicing. Honda quoted us approx. 3,000 for a complete servicing. Who has 3,000 dollars laying around to drop on a car servicing? Called Coastal Care Care and spoke to a lady who was extremely nice over the phone (forgot her name). I told her our situation, and she informed me that they only recommend repairs or replacing items on the van when the "indicator light" illuminates. I instantly began thinking I was going to save myself some money. We decided to drop off the van and they inspected it and had our oil changed during the inspection (why not, right?). That same day, the service technician called me and informed me that my van was going to cost upwards of 3,000 dollars to fix (same quote Honda gave us). We decided to go with Coastal Car Care based on their reviews and the reputation they uphold in our community. We got our van back 5 days later (this was unexpected), and they advised us that they're not equipped to upgrade the software in our van (which it needed). This was never mentioned before they began servicing our van and it now leaves us with an added expense on our shoulders. If we would've known this beforehand, we would've had decided to go with Honda to service our van (done is done). Our recommendation for Coastal Car Care: If your customers are going to "drop" some serious coin in fixing their car (1) be honest and upfront with them in what you can or cannot do at your service center. (2) Consider collaborating with other local shops or service centers to save your customers additional time and expenses.

It's family run & have been in business for a long time. All the work done was in a timely manner. If you want an honest evaluation of your car issues, it is the right place. They do Classic Cars as well.

Our brakes went out while vacationing in California and we still had a 10 hour drive back home, but Coastal Car Care started working on our vehicle right away to get us home! They used some expensive parts, but were so helpful and fast! They even replaced a headlight that was out for no charge! Really understanding and professional throughout.

Thank you Coastal Car Care for fixing my 91' MR2 Turbo. Without your help, my car would still be sitting in the garage as it was for a whole year after buying it and not being able to fix it myself as I had planned. I finally got the car registered today, and it feels so great. Thanks again.I highly recommend Coastal Car Care. They are super knowledgeable about cars, fair, and honest. I can't recommend them enough.

OVERPRICED, and they performed work that should never have been recommended.Coastal has been our mechanic for years, and we have spent many thousands with them. I know as much about cars as Tom Cruz knows about rejection! So knowing very little we put our trust in our auto mechanic.In this instance, we paid Coastal $110 to do a diagnostic and asked Tony to give us the full picture of what is going on with our older car so we could decide if we should do the repairs needed to fix the burning smell and overdrive. When the estimate came back, we trusted Coastal and paid them $903 to do a job that should never have been recommended because the car is worth about $1K needs about $6K in work. But we only discovered that when we later called another mechanic, Knights Automotive in San Marcos, who performed a very thorough and competent diagnostic for $62.Coastal's recommendation should have initially been "you may not want to spend any more money on this $1K car which needs over $6K in repairs." At a minimum Coastal should have performed a competent diagnostic and detailed all the jobs that need to be done, so we could reach that obvious conclusion. But instead they gave us no information about other upcoming jobs the car would need.Glen (owner) you got our $900 on this small spark-plug job. But unfortunately you lost our trust. Your work may be adequate (although the strong engine burning smell we complained about when we brought the car in for this repair is still present) but it is very expensive. And sir, your otherwise polite service staff become incredibly insulting and dismissive when a loyal customer has a question about the bill. That does not seem right. We feel taken advantage of by Coastal Car Care, both in regard to your prices and the unfair business practices I outlined.We wish we switched to an auto mechanic with high integrity years ago. Thankfully my pastor recommended Knights Automotive in San Marcos and we will bring our business to Roger and the other good folks on his team.Thanks for reading my admittedly way-too-long post. Jim

I haven't even been fully serviced yet...(tomorrow my car issues will be taken care of with Coastal Car Care due to needing a part ordered--No Biggie!) BUT I would like to say that I am so glad I stumbled across Coastal Car Care!!ALL AROUND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE!! They have excellent listening skills and if they can't give you an answer on the spot they will go out of their way to find and sometimes refer you to other businesses to help!I give them five stars on their customer service!!!

I brought in my truck which kept popping a fuse. The thing can't run after this specific fuse was blown. So after a few hours I come back they charge me 250$, and they say it's fixed but if it blows again put in this new type of fuse. Sure enough not a week later same fuse. But this time instead of just taking it in I check for myself under the transmission. In no more than 2 minutes I found the wire with a lose connection. Taped it together (should have bought New connectors ) never had the same issue. I do agree my first review was a bit rash given the staff was nice and they did do some things which I did not ask for for free. but I can not give a good review as I feel Time was wasted.

Extremely helpful and reasonably priced. My wife and I had our alternator go out while on a roadtrip. They got us in first thing in the morning and even let us park our campervan their the night before our appointment. I recommend them to anyone local or passing through.

Excellent service at coastal car care. They were prompt in keeping me updated on the status of my truck which needed a new fuel pump. The prices were very competitive. I will be bringing our vehicles here for service going forward.

Great people. We were on a trip to the outlets when our trunk latch decided to stop working. Coastal Care immediately took a look, figured out a quick fix and got us going. Didn't even charge us - just said to give the young man who helped us out a few bucks for lunch! We don't live in the area, but if we did, this would be our new go to place.

Amazing customer service! I had to hang out for the day to get things checked out and felt welcome to stay in all day. A diagnosis came back with nothing useful so they waived the fees for the labor to look in my engine. Would definitely recommend them.

Unfortunately it's buyer beware...especially if you know very little about cars...I found this place recommended by my tow truck guy Kevin who said they were reasonably priced my car overheated and I thought better to have it towed.....my daughter's car was at the shop and they did a diagnostic evaluation on what was needed. .a full write up ..fortunately I am a novice mechanic and I thought maybe a thermostat issue or water pump..they told me it was a blown head gasket and maybe radiator also..about $4000.. I asked about options for the car and he mentioned maybe you can sell it since it's not worth that much for a 2010 Honda crv..they found a buyer that would take it as is for $1200..So I had it towed to another shop and they asked who did the diagnostic on it..All is needed is a water pump..total cost out the door $460..So they were very nice friendly and cordial customer service..but they wrote it up to get more work & $$ ..do not go here !!!
