I have gone to San Luis Obispo Hyundai for all my service needs on my 2018 Sonata since I purchased the car 5 years ago. I have always felt extremely well cared for by the service department team. I would recommend them because I feel they are trustworthy and they have never tried to upsell me or recommend service that was not needed. As a woman I did not feel comfortable going to a car dealership in the beginning, but my experience has consistently made me realize that my concerns were unfounded in the case of San Luis Obispo Hyundai.

I was a first time buyer for a used car with them and I can definitely say that Kevin and Luis were very helpful and understanding with my purchase! I got a great price, they really got me to the monthly I needed, and my car runs beautifully! 10/10 recommend.

Had an issue with backup camera. Took it to the Hyundai SLO dealership yesterday (I bought my car from this dealership). Explained the problem and that I had updated the display software but problem still occurring. After 2 + hours they told me I needed to update the navigation software also and that might fix the problem. Even though my car is less than 3 years old, with less than 25,000 miles and under full warranty, Hyundai apparently doesn't offer free updates to display and/or navigation software even though this software impacts your backup camera. This is not the dealerships fault, but still a huge disappointment when part of buying a Hyundai is because of the great warranty. Thomas (service writer) told me to update the navigation software, then recheck the camera. He gave me the website URL to download the software. If I have issue and need them to do the navigation software update they gave me a written estimate of 3 hours at $585.00!! After leaving Hyundai SLO, I called Winn Hyundai in Santa Maria to see what they said about the updates not being covered. They said that is true that the software updates are not free, however Winn Hyundai only charges $150.00 to update both the navigation and display software no matter how long it takes. That's right, Winn charges $435 LESS than what Hyundai SLO is charging. Today I drove down to WINN to get help with my backup camera issue and software updates because $435 is a huge savings. Guess what Winn told me? My navigation software CAN NOT be updated because I my car is a base model that DOESN'T have a navigation system! So glad I didn't pay Hyundai SLO $585 to update software I don't even have. This is not my first issue with the Hyundai SLO service department. They kept blowing me off about seat belt recall work.... "parts on order, the parts will be in next week..." then weeks later "you're still on the list, the parts haven't come." Same story over and over. After about 6-8 weeks of getting the run around, I called Winn Hyundai about the seat belt recall. Winn's service manager tells me, "parts are in stock. I'll order them today and have it in 3 days." Guess what, 4 days later I drove down to Santa Maria and had the recall seat belt pretensioners replaced. Going to the SLO dealership is closer to home, but I should have learned then to just go to Winn instead. Well, thank you Hyundai SLO, I got the message load and clear yesterday. How the service writer and whatever service technician who evaluated my car and didn't figure out I don't even have navigation system is beyond me. And, your dealership should really consider offering a more cost effective software update option to customers that purchase their cars from the you. That way your customers feel valued and want to come back for services and also want to buy their next car from you. Instead, I feel that you were trying to rip me off with a $585 update for software that I don't even have. Clearly I would have been back paying your fee to get help had I tried to update it myself because it wouldn't have worked and my problems would have persisted.

I am one of the 79%er's who have issues with my EV (Tucson PHEV). Except for the exceptional service I've received from Hyundai San Luis Obispo, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a Hyundai. I do love driving my Tucson and like the PHEV benefits but still having an unresolved Bluelink software issue after seven months of ownership makes me wish I had bought a Toyota instead for their better reliability. I have received very poor customer service from Hyundai Motor America and Bluelink.

Kevin is the man! I bought a car from these guys while living out of state, I was sent every picture, video, and piece of information I asked for immediately and with 0 hesitation. Being aware of the fact I had 2 cars sell out from under me during my previous shopping process, Kevin made sure my deposit was locked in, and reassured me that the car would be waiting for me when I arrived. (As it was) Finally, when I arrived at the dealership, all the paperwork was sorted and ready to go, all I had to do is sign my paperwork, and I was on the road in under an hour. Can t recommend these guys enough. (Not to mention they do all this with a shorter staff than 99% of dealerships I ve seen.)

Found the car over the internet, worked out the deal 100% over the phone. Car was delivered 200+ miles to our home, exactly as advertised. Truly painless process and our family loves the car. Big thank you to Michael, Alex and the whole team at Hyundai SLO!!!

Since I live in the Bay Area and purchasing a hybrid vehicle is next to impossible there, I decided to go through SLO. I purchased my Tuscon Hybrid 2022 through this SLO dealership. Ask for Anthony. We did all the documentation through email and he worked with my lender to sign everything. At the day of signing/ pickup, all the documentation was there and I spent maybe 30 minutes in the office. He also allowed me to put part of the down payment on my credit card. Even the next few days he was helpful with my questions and took the time to see how I was liking the car. The followup is always appreciated. Anthony cares about your experience and he is easy to work with. 5/5 would recommend him to another person looking to purchase.

Vehicle purchase experience was great: Alex and Luis were up-front and fair. No hidden charges. Questions were answered. No pressure was applied to purchase. Very fair price paid, and they went out of their way to order the exact spec wanted. Service department experience was great: Caitlin ensured vehicle service was done properly. Technicians did their jobs competently. Will be repeat customer.

I purchased a Hyundai Tuscon on 2/7/23 with the FANTASTIC help ofLuis Majis; I received the best car buying experience of my life.I have purchased about 10 cars over my 44 years of driving; some new & some used. I have never received the service & personal care in any other purchase.Luis should give seminars on how to treat buyers with such calm & respectful manners. It wasn t about selling me a car but rather how to help me find a good fit for my needs.Luis listened to my plight; my car was in sad shape, fluke of destruction with the transmission falling apart, after paying $5k in repairs. I was afraid to drive it any further than 2 miles a day to my job.Luis & I talked over what details I needed in a new car; of course in the current climate there are very few cars available. I mentioned I had seen used cars on the internet and Luis showed me a wonderful, well cared for used Hyundai Tuscon, 2017. I arranged to buy this gem immediately. Luis went over all the details, took my car as a trade, arranged financing & I left feeling like I just won the lottery.Luis called the day after to check on my status of being knowledgeable & comfortable with my purchase. Luis had to teach me to park this beautiful black SUV; he has the patience of a saint.The owner of the Hyundai dealership even emailed me & thanked me for my purchase; a first in my car buying experience.I would rate Luis Majis as a ten!Thank you Hyundai SLO.Maureen Jones

Bought my first Hyundai today at this dealership and could not have had a better experience. The staff and the management truly went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for, which is so helpful right now as many high-demand cars are nearly impossible to find. I checked out several different cars before selecting this one, and didn't always find the dealerships to be trustworthy. The staff here are helpful, honest and gave me a great price both for my new car and my trade-in. And I love my new Hyundai!! I would highly recommend this dealership for a purchase or service.

The service department turned the worst experience into a good one. I was taking a trip from Bakersfield to the beach with my kids when my car completely stopped! After getting it towed and finding it was my engine I called Hyundai and Adam answered the phone. From the beginning of that call his empathy showed and he made me feel like everything was going to work out. I explained my situation, that I was stranded with 2 small children. Adam connected me with the service manager Mel and he ensured everything was taken care of for my car to be repaired and get me into a rental car for the duration of the repairs. By the time I arrived at the dealership in San Luis Mel had everything ready for me to just get into the car and get home. I was so relieved, but it does not end there. Mel kept me updated throughout the repair process and when I went to pick it up everything was prepared to swap cars again. From the professional handling of my repair to the friendly conversation with Mel, Adam, and Kendall when I was in the service center I would drive to this dealership to buy my next vehicle. Thank you team!

Original 11/22:tl;dr Caitlin and Hyundai SLO swiftly fixed problems caused by another dealership that performed routine service on my Ioniq.The dealership where I got my Ioniq closed during the pandemic so I've been taking my Ioniq to the closest dealership still standing for service ever since. However, multiple times I've had negative experiences there, including the last time.The short of it is: I took my car for its 30k-mile service, and I mentioned I needed my car in tiptop shape for a long roadtrip. I felt I was taken advantage of, being offered excessive services at exorbitant prices but not knowing any better I signed off on it. Then, on driving off the lot, my car started shuddering and there was no pickup when I pressed the accelerator, so I turned around only to be assured it was nothing. Exactly 10 days later, 3 hours north of home, on Thanksgiving of all days, I got stranded in a beachside town when on starting up my car began to shudder again, only this time a DTC fired off indicating a misfire in cylinder 1 that required service.So I called Blue Link, which sent a towtruck to take it to Hyundai SLO. The service dept was closed for the holiday, but on Friday morning I called to let the service dept know to expect my car, which is when I first talked to a service writer with more integrity than I've ever seen in a car dealership employee in my entire life: her name is Caitlin Glass.I was out of the area, having rented a car to continue my roadtrip, but I sent in the documentation, i.e. the paperwork from the service performed less than 2 weeks before, screenshots from the MyHyundai app. She already had an idea of what was going on and the technician confirmed her suspicion soon after. When I got back to town the following Monday, my car was good to go, plus she prepared documentation for me to navigate next steps.Despite not ever having met me before, I felt Caitlin was looking out for me like she would the most loyal of customers. I'm honestly considering driving all the way to Hyundai SLO for service, that's how much I trust her and the service dept there.Edit 4/23:I just wanted to update my review to state that my car has been running perfectly ever since!

The service team is trying to correct a problem with the Shifting on my vehicle. It has 55,000 miles on it. They changed out my spark plugs which were worn and they also switched out the transmission fluid. But my car is still shuddering going to take it back in next week .I'm giving them four stars for right now until they can find out what's going on .Fast foward10/22/2020. HUGE Thanks To Mel and Eddy along with the service department . They put in a brand new transmission in my Tucson that I bought at sunset Honda several months ago. Mel worked with the Portfolio warranty company . The part was ordered and it came quickly. They had it installed in one day. Absolutely awesome. Ill be taking my car here for regular service for now on. Very professional. Thank you Mel!New review 4/8/22Had my wife take the car down for a service recall that they wanted to change out on the Tucson 2015 . Unfortunately Kendal H. Led my wife to believe that our Tucson is in need of major service said the fluid levels were low in the brake cylinder fluids he said that the fluid level in the radiator tank was low he said the tires needed to be replaced funny thing is is all the fluid levels are OK and the tires are only five months old we rarely drive our car. He said the spark plugs were bad they were just replaced at our last service he said her brakes need to be replaced . I don t appreciate it when people try to make things out To be something they re not .my wife was seriously concerned about our car when she had no reason to be worried at all . We re not happy . I still give it three stars because I know that there are some good people at the Hyundai dealership. I included photos of everything . There s also another recall on this vehicle that will take some time so next time I ll be returning personally to do the job.

If you re just signing paperwork and driving away, you ll probably be OK. If you need ANYTHING after the sale, look somewhere else. I bought a new Tucson. My wife and I travelled 250 miles because our Hyundai dealer wanted to rob us over the sticker price. The sale was quick and painless. We noticed a defective rear side window. The service manager was aware of the problem when it came out off the truck but it was out for sale anyway. Our salesman, Kevin, told us we could have it replaced at my local Hyundai dealership. Our dealership denied the window on warranty. That started 2 1/2 months of trying to get Hyundai San Luis Obispo to replace my window. Kevin told me it was out of his hands so I attempted to contact the owner. However I was short stopped by someone else in the office. I called the dealership to get information and was never given the truth. I was constantly told the windows in the mail . Getting return calls or communication from the dealer was non existent. I mostly dealt with Mike, a sales manager. Of approximately 20 calls over the 2 1/2 months I had 1 call returned. I was told the window had been shipped but it never arrived. I called back and Mike tried to put the blame on my local glass company before transferring me to the parts department where they didn t even have my address. After I sent corporate a poor survey, the owner sent an emai apologizing for the lack of communication. The window finally arrived and was installed by a glass company. A few retaining clips were broken. The glass company ordered them through Hyundai SLO. Surprise, the same treatment. They promised the part. . It didn t show. I called, got voicemail that was not returned. Called again on a Thursday. Parts said it was there and would be shipped Friday. The following Thursday, no part. I called and left a message for the owner of Hyundai SLO. The call was not returned. The part finall arrived on Friday. A full week to travel 250 miles. I won t be a repeat buyer.

The team at San Luis Obispo Hyundai is the best! We came to SLO Hyundai to purchase a new SUV. Due to supply chain issues, we expected to have to travel to get the car we wanted at a price we were willing to pay. We didn t have to.The staff was kind, helpful, and accommodating. They were fair in pricing and didn t try to oversell add-ons. When we returned to the service department to add a Hyundai part, we were pleased with the parts and service teams as well.Why travel to a distant dealership, if you can get the car, service, and care you want right here in SLO?

This is the place to go! These guys are great! As someone who has had their fair share of dealerships and car purchases, I can't believe how well the process was from the get-go. They are very transparent and do not lead you or "con" you into something just because. They are super efficient and definitely tend to your needs/ expectations. I highly recommend them. Big thanks to Michael, Anthony and Kevin for being such a huge help in this process! I will tell all my friends and family about you guys!

Michael Valles, Anthony Chavez, & Kevin Lindgren helped us seal the deal with a beautiful 2018 elantra. As first time car buyers we had no idea where to start looking or who to go too, thankfully we ended up in michaels hands and in two days we are in a safe reliable beautiful car. he worked with our budget and never tried to upsale us which i really appreciate coming from the sales world. i highly recommend them they made our experience incredible. so comfortable and kind there:) 10/10 will most definitely stay here for all my car needs.

I just left Hyundai Elantra and am elated. Came here with a car alarm that has been going off every 3 hours or so. On a break between work shifts and was anxious I d be done in time and Eddie assured I d be given plenty of notice in case I needed to call for a ride. Not even having moved the car from the front of the service department, Mel opened the hood and noticed I was missing a stopper that belongs inside the top of the hood that detects whether the hoods closed or not. Without the stopper, my car has been sensing the hoods not closed, setting off the alarm. ON THE HOUSE, PART AND LABOR INCLUDED AS A COURTESY, I left there not even after 5 minutes! I cannot tell you how thrilled I am I came here and assured the manager Mel and Eddie, the service department employee, I d be back as soon as I was able to upgrade my Hyundai to one of the newest models that are absolutely stunning!Couldn t recommend Hyundai in San Luis Obispo more!!!!

Had appointment to replace drivers side mirror but they had the wrong part. Paid a lot of money up front and came away with nothing .Now I have to wait for them to reorder the part. Needless to say I was not a happy camper.

I posted a very bad review earlier because of problems with customer service. Mel from Hyundai SLO contacted me quickly to discuss it. He agreed that I had legitimate complaints, and wanted to make everything right with me. I must say, Mel stepped up big time and went beyond what I thought he would. I highly recommend Mel and Hyundai SLO for taking customer service seriously, and working hard to make sure they get it right! Thanks to Mel and Hyundai SLO!

Super disappointed with this place. Bought a new car and took in for first oil change and the car was damaged by staff there. I get accidents happen but made me feel bad for this situation. Called twice to speak to GM there and never got a phone call back. Said car was ready and got there and still not done right. At this point my trust is broken and not even sure if work done on my car is done right

We had some issues with our car that Hyundai was not covering under warranty. Hyundai SLO and Mel went to bat for us and were able to get the repairs completed. The car looks new again. Thanks.
