I ve had nothing but wonderful experiences here. John and his staff are welcoming and friendly, but more importantly, the quality of work and transparency is unlike anything I ve found before. Unfortunately, as a woman taking my vehicles to many mechanics on the central coast, I have had far too many instances of less than honest or professional service. This place has knocked it out of the park every time.

John and his team have been servicing our two Subarus for almost ten years now. I wouldn't go anywhere else. For quality of work, transparency, responsiveness and genuine care, you simply cannot do better than Complete Automotive..

Well, I will start with John, owner. He is absolutely professional and appears to be a great human being, a Mensch. I talked with him for a while and found that his father and grandfather were both mechanics (of the highest degree it appears), and he, as third generation is carrying on the tradition. This was my first time to his business (I had always gone to the expected shop for my car). I think I could have saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars by having had John take care of my car. I felt confident when I left his shop with my 2001 Honda that it would take me where I needed to go for the duration. From what he reported about his employees, they, too, are men of integrity. So, I should say that I really really recommend John and the people who work for him.Service: General repairs & maintenance

These guys are amazing. Literally couldn't have asked for anything more from a mechanic. They understand my vehicle inside and out, incredibly easy to work with and I trust them to properly diagnose and service any problem that comes up. A+++ shop and will be a customer for many years to come!P.S. I never write reviews just loved these guys that much.

I chose Complete Automotive because of the great reviews and I am so glad I did. John is honest, fair, and extremely knowledgeable. I had previously brought in my 1967 Ford Mustang for an overheating issue my prior long-time mechanic could not solve. John researched the issue, spoke to experts in the area, and solved the problem. The car has been running great ever since. This time I brought in my daughter's Chevy Volt for a strange rattling noise. John spent hours on the car, which was obvious, because he ended up knowing that car inside and out. In the end, he couldn't solve the rattle and didn't charge me. It was completely unexpected that he wouldn't at least charge for his time. John is a good human being and a master of his trade. We are fortunate to have his services here in SLO.

These guys were able to get me in super quick midday yesterday, figured out the problem before they closed, got the part in first thing this morning and I'm back on the road in less than 24 hours for hundreds less than what the dealership was gonna charge me.So glad I took the local recommendation and checked them out.I really like the online program they use for keeping me up to date on everything they did plus photos so I could see for myself

I was there recently to get my car 'smogged', perhaps a little sus about all the 5-star yelp reviews.I have to add my own 5-stars to this. Frankly, this unassuming shop in the middle of Tank Farm Road blew my doors off.John was at the front desk and was kind, courteous and right on the money when he said (even tho I missed my morning appointment) "your car will be ready in 20 minutes".I'm coming back now that I know about this place.Service: Auto emissions testing

About $20 more than Jiffy Lube for an oil change on my Volt but well worth it for the confidence In having the work done properly. I'm an old hot rod guy and they are, too! Too bad they don't work on European cars so I could take my Porsche to them.

I've been going to Complete Automotive for the better part of a decade and have no plans of changing that any time soon. John is a treasure, and I always feel like I'm in the best hands when I go there. They never try to upsell me on anything, but they'll definitely say something if they see that something is wrong. Their prices are on the higher end of decent, and I feel like I get what I pay for every time.Services: Brakes, Auto maintenance, Battery, Oil change

Complete Automotive was able to get me in for an oil change, lube and 30,000 mile check up the same day I called for an appointment. Service was done in a timely manner while I was there. Pleasant owner. John was so helpful and restored my faith in auto repair shops! The team here is friendly and honest, and when I heard a weird little noise after the repair I called them and John put my car at the front of the line just to double check their work. Complete Automotive is my trusted mechanic for both my Tacoma and my Camry. John and his people are people of their word that give you the exact status of your vehicle and its needs. They re not trying to upsale you to do more or sell more than what you need. If you re require it soon, they ll tell you. If you don t need now, but need it the next time, they ll tell you. I have used them for numerous different issues on my older Camry and always the car is running better and issue is resolved. My catalytic converter was stolen from my vehicle. I contacted complete automotive for the repair. They charged me a $95 inspection which my insurance did not cover. I came to them and told them that my catalytic converter was stolen and they then turned around and charged me $95 to tell me the exact same thing that I could not get covered by my insurance and they know this, because he was very clear when asking for payment that the insurance does not cover this fee. Then they proceeded to fix my catalytic converter. And then give me my car back with a trunk with the struts that are now shot. I just changed my struts about five months ago, and my trunk worked perfectly fine when I brought it into the shop, and then when receiving my car back, my trunk now does not stay open and the struts don t work. I did contact the shop owner to speak with him about this and he told me it was not his problem and they had no reason to open or close the trunk. But while I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my car I saw them shut my trunk. So as you can imagine I don t have a great taste in my mouth for this place. There was no help offered or any type of service to work together to figure out how we could get my trunk fixed. It was just your typical car mechanic telling you that it s not their problem. So that s my review.

A real gem! I only asked for an oil change but I got a whole vehicle safety check as well. The waiting room was spacious and comfortable. My daughter lives in SLO, and I'm glad she has a mechanic she can trust.

My wife had an emergency where she needed to pull her car over immediately. That just so happened to be here. As they were leaving for lunch they stopped what they were doing and helped her before going off to lunch, I m sure they were clocked out, but that didn t stop them. They identified the issue immediately and kept us in the know. Full transparency in cost and made sure we were taken care of before lunch

John is an excellent and trustworthy mechanic. I had a mainstream auto parts store diagnose my problem as requiring a new alternator. Instead of simply installing a new expensive alternator like some shops may have done, John spent the time to double check the diagnosis and confirmed the alternator was fine. John and his crew are top notch mechanics. They know their work and treated me like everyone would like to be treated, with direct honesty and clarity with all aspects of the job. They did what they said they would do and did it in a friendly manner at a fair price. Would not recommend for quality of service. John is a nice guy and charges fair prices. However, in the 2 times I have gone to him I've had to return with several issues that should have been avoided.1. Repair man did not tighten bottom panel of my car and it started riding low. He fixed it for free when I came back but that should not have happened.2. Repair guy lost my tire lock key at the shop after checking brakes. I only realized this the next time someone was checking my brakes. I had to buy 4 new brake locks.3. Charged me for replacing a windshield wiper but did not replace it. He did refund me, but clearly shows a lack of care.4. I had my rotors machined and returned again after less than 6 months with brake pulsation. He offered to machine them again however that clearly did not fix the problem. I should have replaced them in the first place and avoided the expense of machining them twice.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes

John is absolutely amazing! Not only did he wait an hour after his shopped closed for my car to get towed to his shop. He told me right away what my car needed knowing that it was going to be pricey, he also did research to see if my car was still under warranty and told me that could be an option for me as well. He even called me multiple times to check on me and make sure I was being taken care of. He is the sweetest, kindest, most honest mechanic I have ever met. I highly recommend Complete Automotive! Thank you John!

My car wouldn't start and I was stranded. I called John (the owner) and he thought it was a dead battery so after AAA was able to start my car, I drove it to Complete Automotive. They replaced my battery in about 20 minutes and I was able to drive home. They were fast, efficient and friendly. It's a great place to take care of my car.Service: Battery

A great place for all your car's needs and wants. I had made an appointment for 2pm and had got right in. They went immediately to work on my new car right after an inspection, and we had agreed on a fair quote. I wanted to upgrade my exhaust system from stock to a better sounding one. John, the owner, BTW (is a veteran, thanks John) was very friendly and we chatted about our love for cars. Before I knew it, I heard my new exhaust, Wow! It was all installed in no time. I'm totally happy I did my research and saw all the wonderful comments about Complete Automotive and it's staff, first. What had got my eye was the fact that others had mention John as being honest and fair.When it comes to mechanics, many have a reputation of ripping off customers with phoney claims and high prices, especially towards women. I wasn't about to overpay someone for a relatively easy job such as installing a new exhaust. Again, John was fair with quoting a price for the job. Complete Automotive was very professional, timely, friendly, fair minded and had a clean establishment. I plan on going back to Complete Automotive for whatever comes up. For anybody who drives a car, it's important to secure yourself a great mechanic in your corner. Thanks John, you've earned all my automotive business.Service: Exhaust

I highly recommend Complete Automotive! The customer service has been outstanding. John is very transparent, explains everything in detail and is extremely knowledgeable. I have a 9-year-old Lexus that has been in a few times (both routine and unexpected) and very much appreciate his willingness to discuss options prior to preforming the work. This is an honest shop that provides great work at a reasonable price. .
