Have a 2005 Volvo XC90 that had serious electrical problems: wipers would turn on intermittently, lights would flicker/dim, brake lights stayed on. I bought a used CEM online and Total Auto Tech was able to clone my old one (which was corroded). My car fired right up with none of the electrical problems I had. Very quick turn around as well. THANK YOU!!

Denis & the team definitely know literally everything about Auto electrical, and doesn't matter what kind of car and problem you have! They make it easy, super quickly fixed my computer/navigation/climate control of my Lincoln MKT 2014, even official dealership (Sunnyvale Ford) couldn't figure out what was the issue. I own a 2007 Volvo S40. The battery died and without knowing at the time, the key can't be taken out of ignition without good charge. I put too much force trying to take the key out and the key snapped in half!!! Every locksmith I called said that only the Volvo dealer can get a key replacement made because the key has a glass transmitter inside the tip of the key which has to be reprogrammed. Called Volvo and they wanted about $600 for the key plus labor to program new key plus they said i have to bring the car to them otherwise they cant program the new key. Closest dealer to me in Arkansas is 100 miles away and the cheapest tow truck quote was $700. I was looking at $1300 plus to get key replaced in addition to a full day of my time at the dealer. In desperation I went on Volvo forum and someone mentioned this shop and how they can program a new key without the car being there. Called them and the gentleman who answered kindly explained that he would need the CEM which is located under the glove compartment( took me 5 minutes to remove it). I mailed him the CEM and 5 days later I received a working key with an extra transmitter for $220. Car started right up with new key. The guy saved me over $1000 and I am forever grateful. Volvo wanted almost $200 just for the key plus labor to program it, you can find the key on ebay for $12. This guy truly saved me in a big way. Thank you sir many timesService: Electrical

This is the only shop in N. California that is working on Tesla cars.I brought my Tesla S to Total Auto Tech for diagnostics after Official Tesla Repair center told me I needed to replace the main battery. I worked directly with Sergey who was able to quickly diagnose the issue and it was not the battery problem but the software issues. These guys fixed it in few days and saved me thousands of dollars. I cant say more enough how happy I am to find this repair shop. Highly recommended. Honest, Professional and reliable team. Total Auto Tech remoted in to my computer which was hooked up to my Volvo via my DICE unit and programmed 2 FOB s. They also deleted my missing keys. I now have three keys w/ FOB s total and a ton of piece of mind . Total Auto Tech provided amazing service and saved me many hundreds of dollars that our local dealer wanted to charge. Having little experience with Volvo auto repair and working remotely, Dennis gave me detailed instruction for components to send him to properly diagnose and configure the ECM software. He constantly follow-up in every step of the process for inception to payment. I would HIGHLY recommend TAT to any European car owner for any diagnosis and repair. Dennis and one of his technicians provided one of the best auto repair services that I have ever experienced. They ended up saving me a lot of time and money for a 2004 Volvo that I was thought may have been too expensive to keep. In approximately 20 minutes, they were able to troubleshoot a complex electrical problem for no charge. Next they provided me with a few options. Given the age of the car, I elected to go with a certified and tested used Central Electronic Module (CEM) with a one year warranty. The technician removed the original unit, reprogrammed the new one, completed the data transfer from the original CEM, reinstalled and tested the replacement unit all within an hour. In terms of price, I estimated that they saved me approximately 60 to 70 percent of what the dealer would have charged me. Based on my excellent experience, I would highly recommend bringing your car into Total Auto Tech for any electrical issues with older and newer vehicles. Note, I saw late model Volvo and Tesla in the shop. Very impressed!!!

I would highly recommend Dennis and Serge to anyone in need of auto electrical repair. They are very knowledgeable, honest, and hardworking. They don't just look at a code, guess at a problem and attempt to fix it by doing what a manual tells them to do...which is what happens in many repair shops. These guys are smart and actively think to diagnose and solve problems. Referred to them by the best Volvo shop in the Bay (Swedish Auto), I was super impressed by their innovative approach to this type of engineering. Definitely give them your business.

Dennis at Total Auto Tech was so professional and knowledgeable about Volvo s and purchasing a Volvo key replacement and reprogramming!! I bought a used 2008 Volvo and the key fob was dead. After weeks of research, Swedish Auto referred me to Dennis and it was the easiest Fix ever!! Great prices, much cheaper than the dealership and professional and quick service!! Wish I would have found Dennis weeks ago!! I will definitely be back for the other services they offer!

Excellent, fast, experienced, and very knowledgeable auto electronics repair services. I cannot say enough good things about this company. They successfully extracted the data from the memory chip inside my 2001 Volvo CEM (Central Electronics Module) and transferred the code to a good used one without having to do any soldering on the replacement unit, which left it in factory virgin condition. A Volvo dealer might have charged about $2,000 for a new module with programming. Their charge was only $250. They have made their own custom test fixtures and have written their own software which works with the Volvo Vida software to do things that no other company can do. The very same smart guys who made the custom tools and software also do the repair and programming work. So the service you get is done by expert engineers, not average bench technicians using tools that others created that they don't really understand. These guys have the experience from repairing many hundreds of these items for the past 15 years - for customers in Europe, America, and around the world. Mine module was programmed while I waited at their shop, and it worked perfectly. My car is running great. I'm a very happy customer and recommend them to anyone who needs an auto computer replaced and/or reprogrammed to work with the other computers in the vehicle.

The store have great specialist. They know what they are doing and how to get it done. Have done the keys multiple times for both of my cars BMW and Subaru. Also they guys are always helpful to me with nailing down the issue to my BMW and Subaru and once it is fixed it is fixed. Great job guys and keep up a great work. Denis programmed a new key for me after my auto body shop lost my key. A few weeks later, I found my spare key and Denis was kind enough to program it (after hours).I was impressed by his quick response and customer service. Plus, he was super quick about programming the spare key, and even explained his security protocol for ensuring that only the registered owner is the one requesting the key programming. (And true to protocol, he extensively examined my car registration and drivers license to make sure all the information matched.)I would highly recommend Total Autotech for all your auto electronics diagnostics needs, and will definitely keep their card for future repairs!

I have nothing but the highest commendations for the work that Denis and company do. They are, quite simply, some of the best in the business.My Volvo was unable to start after a corrupt software update. The dealership (Volvo Palo Alto) took 5 days to put in an hour of work on it (limited to seeing that that the CEM was unresponsive in diagnostics software) and claimed that the entire CEM needed to be replaced to the tune of $2000, for a car that cost $3000.Anyway, I had the car towed to Denis and within the day he was able to get a look at the car and diagnose what was wrong with it. He then worked through the weekend to get the car back in order. I have no doubt that very very few could have fixed my car without replacing the CEM and some other pricey modules: it was an unusual problem where the update had corrupted data in the CEM, and Denis needed to reverse engineer what data had corrupted from the checksum and his previous dumps of the CEM memory from similar cars. What's more, one section of corrupted data did not exist in any of his dumps, and so he had to do the reverse engineering from scratch. Yet from his 15 years' experience working on Volvos, he was able to figure it out and get the car back to me within a day, after working till 11pm on a weekend night!And that's not all! After fixing my car, Denis also proceeded to help me apply some configuration changes and program a new key for the car, all free of charge! He even has the Volvo-original key cutter so he can cut physical keys. Truth be told, I was thinking he'd forget to do these extra services, because I'd only mentioned them verbally in passing when I was dropping off the car, but despite having many other customers' orders to work with, he somehow remembered everything and even did a little extra.Best of all? Despite the problem being a lot more difficult that he originally imagined, Denis insisted on charging his original quoted price, for 1/3 the hours he actually spent. He said that the reverse engineering problem was fun and his success its own reward.Let me summarise it for you folks. These are incredibly competent people, who love and take pride in their work. They are tenacious, resourceful, and meticulous. They know Volvo (and Tesla) electrical systems back to front, and probably more makes too, judging from some of the other reviews. Their prices are eminently reasonable. There is no one better to go to if you have electrical issues with your Volvo or Tesla did I mention that they write their own custom software for these cars?For those of you Volvo/Tesla owners in the Bay Area you are lucky to have Total Auto Tech around. For those living elsewhere you're still lucky because guess what, they also offer remote services. Or you can also send in your problematic modules and they'll fix them up and send them back. I have never been so impressed with a auto tech, I sent my ECM, CEM and key in fully prepared to pay for the system to be tested and reprogrammed. I got a call the same day my parts arrived and turns out it was just the key. I ended up paying about half of what I was expecting and the new keys were cut, programmed and shipped the same day! These guys totally fixed my CEM, works brilliantly.I spent 2 weeks looking for someone to transfer the data from my fried CEM to a used one. These guys did it without me having to give up a kidney, it's my first born.I'm as pleased as I could possibly be. (until the next volvo problem).WORTH EVERY CENT!
