I re-attached my differential here. Good experience.Renee is very kind and welcoming!Mike helped identified the issue and fixed it quick and neat, made it a half day clean shot.They also helped store my transmission(which I was about to do R&R until they identified the issue) for me to pick and return.Highly recommended.

I was looking around for a transmission specialist. I wanted to find one close because my clutch was grinding. Found Mike's. Right away I noticed they had more experience than just about any place in the area. Renee was super nice and they laid everything out over the phone. Dropped my truck off and they had it ready within a satisfactory amount of time. Everything was satisfactory I've had the truck back now for 2 days and it drives perfectly a lot better than it did. So far no noises and I feel like they did a totally professional job. I would totally recommend them if you need some transmission work done. A++

Was having transmissions problems, slipping and shuddering badly. Called Mike's and they got me an appointment same week, and one of their guys also gave me a call ahead of appointment to see how my truck was doing until I could come in. Appreciated that. Turned out my truck needed a rebuild, and they kept me updated along the way. My truck was there 10 days due to parts, but that was pretty good because Ford siad it was going to be at least a month. Truck is running better than ever and I'm super stoked and thankful, highly recommend!Service: Transmission

I made an appointment for 8am..When I pulled up office was closed and I told guy in the garage I had an appointment he said are you sure?I was scheduled for a diagnosis. He said drop it off and we'll look at it later.Whats the point of an appointment then,ruined my plans,so I left

another me had had told me my daughter's transmission was shot but I took it to Mikes and it was just something sticking on the torque converter because the fluid had never been changed. Basically returned her to fully functional for less than $200. KNOWING that these guys are HONESTLY diagnosing your transmission issues and solving them for the actual cost is so reassuring that I now will not let a bad transmission end a cars life if I like the car even if they advise total replacement. People know they are the best so there is an approximate week long wait to get your car in and they don't have parking for everybody on the wait-list so you need to book an appointment and get the car there exactly when the apt is and then pick it up immediately when they are done. That's reality so go with it and you've got 'your guy" when it comes to transmissions.

Mike's shop is one of the few shops in the bay area that really are trustworthy. He's been here forever, and his experience level shows it. Yet despite his level of expertise I would say he's incredibly reasonable in terms of pricing. Highly recommend.

Had a leaky gasket in my transmission and came here on a Google search suggestion. I m glad I did. Mike was friendly and efficient and got the job done quickly. I ll go back if I need transmission work in the future!

The shop did a great job with the transmission fix. It took a little extra time due to the problem of being able to find parts for my car. But the car is now back in my possession and is running great.

Mike was super helpful with my car and worked with me due to the fact I didn t live in the area and my parents had to do a lot of the face to face. He was patient with me describing what happened even if I probably was not descriptive enough. He was very informative and honest about everything that went wrong with my car before fixing it and was accommodating to my situation. He was very very responsible on pricing. Will always recommend to family and friends who live in the San Jose area!

After researching for a couple of days I made the choice to take my 2005 Volvo CX90 to Mike's transmission. I will admit I was a bit nervous and intimidated at first being a woman and not knowing exactly what was wrong with my Volvo. I am so glad I made the choice to take my Volvo to Mike's transmission. He took care of me from beginning to end. My truck wasn't drivable Mike scheduled a tow truck to pick up my Volvo. Mike was great he dealt with the my insurance from beginning to end I never had to speak to my insurance agent. Mike took care of every single thing for me from the towing to representing me with my insurance and taking care of the transmission problem with my Volvo. My insurance wasn't the easiest to deal with they gave him a hard time and the runaround but Mike was great to represented me and my Volvo very professional. Mike was great he told me at one point. Please don't stress out I have dealt with insurance like yours plenty of times before. I will take good care of you and he did he went ABOVE AND BEYOND. I highly recommend anyone that has transmission problems to Mike his shop is very clean he is very professional and organize. He takes very good care of his customers I am very pleased with his service. Thanks Mike you and your team did great. I am now back to my normal routine thank you for making me feel safe at your shop you and your team did an amazing job.

When you transmission is out - you are in trouble. In big trouble and that was I found out when my lovely Toyota Highlander decided that it needs a new transmission.I knew it is going to be expensive but the first quote I got from a guy working in some ship related to transmission was $6500 - for that money I could buy younger car in perfect condition.I said fine, we live in 21st century let me see what other options I have and searched Google and Yelp for top ten transmission services in the South Bay Area and started to call them.5 out of 10 told me "we cannot give you any quote until you bring your car and we look into it". Common, guys, it is very well known amount of efforts you need to spend to take a transmission from the car and put it back. If you have real experience than you could tell the price range for such repair.Couple of others were more realistic by telling me the range from 2000 to 4000 but they didn't know exactly when they will have time to work on my car.And then I called Mike - he was in the middle of rough week because two his technicians were sick and he has lot full of cars waiting. But he gave me the prices range 2400-2700 and promised to look into the car on Monday.On Monday he called me and told the final price and by Wednesday it was all done.This is unbelievable - only someone who had a chance to take a transmission from the car can really appreciate how fast the work was done.And it was done great - the car runs as new!I cannot say I'm looking forward to see you again but if something happens I know where I will go :)Thank you very much Mike!

Mike worked on two transmissions on two different cars. Both times he did a great complete job. He was very detailed and is trust worthy. I highly recommend. A+ work and person! Thank you Mike!

Needed my Honda's clutch redone. Took it in on Monday, done on a Tuesday. Super fast service. Also, cost was upfront and on point. 1 year warranty or 12k miles - never had I seen that. Great service, will be back

Very rude about giving pricing. Mike was short tempered if you even ask one question. All I told him was that I got a higher quote from someone else. He thought i was trying to negotiate the price and I never did try. I responded to his add for a different transmission that wasn't for my truck so there was a difference in price. He was calling me back to tell me it would cost more which is understandable and I was telling Mike that I did call somewhere else for a quote and it was higher by a lot like 500$ more than what Mike was calling me back with the new price. He completely just started telling me that I don't know what I am talking about and that he has been doing this for 40yrs and that I don't know anything he knows everything I need for my truck and stuff like that. I tried to explain my self to Mike several times. He then hung up on me. I called back and he then accused me of speaking over him when I hardly said anything. I tried to explain myself again and he then hung up on me again. I then got in my truck and went over to Mike's Transmission location to apologize for the misunderstanding and to try and explain myself again to Mike and he just wouldn't have it. He accepted my apology but then told me he WAS NOT interested in earning my business. He was all ears shut not trying to let me explain what I was talking about. He just took the apology like he was all high and mighty. What sucks is that I am not even mad I just want Mike to read this so he can hear my side. He does know his stuff and I am sure he will continue for many years.Mike is a liar. He responded with a egotistic answer. I ended up changing my transmission my self for less than half of what he quoted. Mike literally misunderstood what I was talking about and blew up. Anyone short tempered running a business is bound for failures. I get uneducated customers all the time for my line of work and I don't get mad when there is a misunderstanding. I have customers who don't even speak English and I still tend to everyone like if they are my last customer. I hope Mike gets his head out from where it don't shine. Stay away from this shop there are way better, nicer and cleaner locations than Mike's.

So my wife and I live and travel in our 91Ford Econoline E350 and we have only had her since January 2016. We have been dealing with the car troubles as we can come to afford then. So we took her to Mike's Transmissions and Mike the owner of the shop was very knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge with me to keep me informed on what's going on and helping me be a better transmission owner. So he ended up rebuilding the our transmission completely. During the rebuild he found out that the computer was telling our transmission that it was in 4th gear. So it was stuck in 4th gear the entire time we owned the van. So the shop next store Jacobi auto ended up fixing our van computer and now she runs like a dream. Mike gave us a very thorough warranty on his work and I really am impressed. He went above and beyond and I'm very greatful for him and his team. Thank you guys very much see you again soon for the checkup.

If you need transmission work done it doesn't matter what you drive Mike is the man to talk to you be crazy to take it anywhere else other than Mike's Transmission really easy to get to the guy is a great great transmission mechanic. So don't take it anywhere else you give you a great deal and he stands behind his work can't say so much for other people around the San Jose

It just got knocked down to 1 star. As in another review Mike called to dispute and went as far as "John you shouldn't have lied"! I wouldn't waste anyone's time and didn't exaggerate anything and told the truth. But to call me and say.......I shouldn't have lied.... is ridiculous! I'm not going to take this any further and I would not suggest That anyone have their transmission worked on there. My opinion and the truth

This shop knows what they are doing, a little pricey but its worth it towards the end. I met the owner his name is Mike hes been working on transmissions from the past 37 years. I highly recommend this place to anyone that needs transmission work.

Very neat and organized shop had my transmission fluid changed. They did the job properly and only took about an hour. I would call for appointment. If you have to wait there are a bunch of places to eat near by.

Extremely slow service. Mike likes to tell you a lot about his personal life instead of what is going on with your car. Also, you will have to call him to check on your car since he isn't proactive.

Had the notorious 41TE transmission die in our '94 Plymouth Voyager. Took it to Mike's, at another general Auto repair place's advice. A backing plate had broke in a clutch pack, later research by me showed that was a common issue in that vintage of 41TE. He talked to me about the need to replace both the planetary gears during the overhaul, & not to use the cheap imported ones. This is also a common failure on that transmission. He also installed new bushings, replaced both motor mounts, & the battery. He also used the *right* transmission fluid for it, ATF+4. It shifted better than new after it was done, until it got wrecked in a collision later on.Yes, some places could have done it cheaper, by reusing the old gears, or, the wrong fluid, with a conversion additive, but, to me, it was done right by Mike's.

Great guy, did a full rebuild and remove and reinstall in like a day or two and was well better priced than many many others I spoke to for a transmission rebuild. Plus there's a 2 year warranty.

I left my car at his shop for two days and he couldn't get it finished. Very poor customer service skills, and very distracted.
