Wayland is the best and so honest it s refreshing to know that this shop won t mess you over like some other shops do we won t take any of our cars anywhere else, Yes at times it s hard to get ahold of them. That s because he s working or trying to find parts for his loyal customers we don t take any of the cars anywhere else anymore. He will look and search high and low for the right parts for you and your car. Give him a chance and if he doesn t answer the phone, he doesn t mind you walking in and making an appointment. My Honda had an alternator issue and wasn t starting over the weekend. After looking up neighborhood mechanics, I decided to get my car towed to Toy Shop since they had the highest reviews. Cody was great and I m extremely happy with the quality of service I received + the reasonable price point. I dropped my car off on Monday, received a call back thoroughly explaining the issue Tuesday morning, approved the work to get my alternator replaced, and picked my car up later the same day. The alternator part was in stock so I had virtually no wait time. Definitely recommend Cody and Toy Shop.

The best of the best. Takes some time to get a hold of them and get an appointment but it s worth the wait. I have been taking my 97 Toyota Tacoma here when needed since I got it over the past 10 years.

New customer. Positive experience. Walked-in to schedule appointment two weeks in advance. Good location (accessibility, along bus routes). Honest, hardworking, excellent (detailed) communication when they are actively working on your vehicle, and friendly. Sometimes they are busy and cannot answer the phone, but the quality of service and repairs are worth this minor issue. I felt like the service team and office cared about my vehicle and ensured all repairs were as requested. They equally communicated before, during, and after work was performed regarding the anticipated service(s). I noticed they treated all customers equally whether knowledgable about cars or not, or whether the customer was male or female (they are honest about what is needed and let you know that certain services may not necessarily be needed at the time; they give you an accurate understanding of your vehicle's status and all related repairs or conditions they come across). I saw a variety of vehicles being repaired from standard efficient Asian imports to premium luxury SUVs to vintage restored classic cars to a motorcycle. Definitely would recommend giving them a try.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine tuning, Brakes, Oil change

These guys are great. Had suspension upgraded (my parts) and upper and lower ball joints done, new radiator, 2 CV axles at various times. They always recommend OEM parts, not cheap aftermarket stuff. The only shop in SF I trust. Was just Googling their number and thought I'd leave a review. Work done right at a fair price with high quality parts.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance

I usually work on my own car and absolutely hate it when I have to take it to a professional when either I don't have the time or the right tools. I can say that I have no hesitation bringing my vehicle back to this shop. They are honest and the prices are reasonable. The dealership would have cost me 2-3x more. The only drawback is that they are quite busy (likely because they are truly awesome), and they are usually booked 1-2 weeks in advance

I am very happy with the service I received from The Toy Shop. Another shop quoted $1200 to repair my 2003 Toyota Echos air conditioning/compressor. They recommended that I just drive with the window down. I have been and was ready to continue.A friend recommended The Toy Shop. Didn't call just drove over. Got an appt for 3days later. Waylan was standing there at 0830 with a clipboard when I arrived. No charge to diagnose. Amazing! Very clean shop. Well lighted. Everyone polite!But here's the BEST thing. I'm an older lady and have been taken advantage of before in car repair. Waylan explained in clear descriptive words what was wrong, how he checked it out, would use a Toyota part, and that it was not my compressor!! Mentioned a few other minor maintenance issues that I approved. COST: $190.00.I'm only going here from now on!You cannot buy honesty, or earnest people.Thank you Waylan and staff!

Toy Shop is the most reliable & trustworthy auto shop I ve ever found. For example, they just completed engine work on my Honda yesterday for less than 1/3 of the price I was quoted by the 9th Ave Honda Service Center. Wayland and his staff at Toyshop are super professional as well!

Waylon is the best. He exemplifies excellence in service. Caring, courteous, communicative, and quick! They did a great job fixing my truck. Ill def be back and I would recommend everyone with a Toyota go to Toy Shop.

Barely answer there phones, BUT top notch mechanics that really went out of there way to find good parts cheep and the bill was shockingly fair (low). Super trustworthy- but walk up to make appointments.

Can't say enough good things about these guys. Knowledgeable, Fair, honest, SO helpful. They treat it as though it were their car/problem and so always help us avoid unnecessary expense. Once they even gave us a cheaper option (when a part they would have to order from Toyota had a sky high price tag) and sent us to someone else who could fix the problem without the part and saved us $1000!! I swear most of the time I bring the car in, they take hours and figure it all out, and report that it's nothing that requires expert labor. They give us back our car with some advice and with no charge, though they took time and space to figure it out for half a day! They have our undying loyalty from that alone. We recommend them to EVERYONE. And the owner is the kindest guy. We are so lucky to have them nearby in the City.

I love Toy Shop & don't trust anyone else with my car! Wayland is helpful and honest without being condescending or shady like many other mechanics. Tough to get through on the phone & usually booked several weeks out

The go-to car shop for Japanese cars! Waylan and his team are honest, reliable, trustworthy, respectful with excellent pricing. He has keep my 1995 Honda, over 160K miles going. Because they're busy, they don't always pick you up the phone so best to go by in person.

I recently had an issue with my car and, as I live right around the corner, took it into Toy Shop to get it looked at and an estimate. My dad is a mechanic and, after talking to him, I was afraid the alternator might have needed replacing. It turned out when I replaced the battery I did a poor job of fixing the cables to the battery terminals - that was all. Waylan and his guys were really honest. They properly fixed the cables and charged me a few bucks for their time. I would not hesitate to take my car back to Toy Shop or to recommend it.

This is hands down the best auto repair place in the Bay Area. Being a woman, I always feel nervous that an auto shop will try to take advantage of me, but Waylen (the owner) has always been honest with me. You may have a hard time reaching them on the phone since they are sooo busy, but once they have your car and know what's wrong with it, they go to work repairing the issue, in a reliable, honest, timely manner. Prices are more than reasonable and they do not try to upsell you anything you do not need. They will tell you (honestly) if they see something else on your car you SHOULD have serviced, and let you make the call on doing the extra work. This is car repair as it should be, not some slick fancy place with a posh waiting room.

Wayland and his crew do top-notch work for a very reasonable price. I trust them to work on my old pickup and they've never done me wrong. Hard to get them on the phone, but once you do go ahead and make an appointment.

The mechanics and Waylon are usually very busy, so don't be surprised if it takes a bit to get through on the phone. But the prices can't be beat... Toy Shop was more than 50% less than what the dealership quoted. You may not receive that complimentary car wash, but you will save thousands of dollars by going to the Toy Shop.

Very friendly, reliable and trustworthy auto repair for Toyota's. Brought in my 2007 RAV 4 for repair dealer quoted $2700 , they saved me $2000 because did not repair unnecessary parts.

We have been happy customers of the Toy Shop since the seventies. Wayland helped us keep our Corollas and Camry running for decades. Now we have a Prius that we trust will be maintained by the excellent caring hands of Wayland and his super crew! :-)

Waylon is THE MAN. Prompt, professional, in-depth. Saved me a couple of thousand dollars by properly diagnosing an error code that other technicians were saying meant I needed a new air intake and pump. Professional. In depth. I just brought my Tundra back for a new timing belt, spark plugs, and other necessities and I'm sure I'll be back in the future.

Toy Shop gets over-the-top-raves, and the guy I bought my 4Runner from urged me in the strongest language possible to get in touch with the Wayland (sp?) A.S.A.P.But here's the deal: This is the 3rd day a row I've started calling @ 7:30 a.m., waited while the phone rings for a full 120 seconds (what? TWENTY rings?) then nothing. Three or four calls a day for three days and I still can't even leave a message. (Right! As if somebody who would call back!)I understand why people are looking for a good mechanic. The one I encountered in Mill Valley yesterday was one of the least pleasant people EVER.But please, Wayland. Toss us a crumb. If it's hopeless to get on your schedule, and if you really have neither time nor hope of answering your phone, PLEASE just tell us in your message.Myself, I'd appreciate the courtesy.Or if business is really THAT good, hire somebody to answer the phone and screen the business you might want. Of course, you could also just tell us to go jump in the Bay--which is pretty much what you are putting out there now--and fuggedubbuttit. We will quit calling, promise.

Certainly experts in the industry and can probably fix anything you bring to them based on the work I have had done. The only one thing that doesn't make for a perfect situation would be the pricing can get insane depending on what you need done, and sometimes leaves into unquotable territory. But for what it is, for good, honest car worrked, Toy shop is the place.

I am from out-of-town and yesterday my Toyota overheated in Park Presidio traffic. I couldn t have pulled over in a more fortunate spot right across the street from the Toy Shop! After the car cooled a bit I left it with Wayland for an hour. He diagnosed the problem -- which turned out to be a quick but alarming fix (a mechanic at my usual car shop had forgotten to plug back in the radiator fan after completing another repair), topped off the fluid, and drove the car to make sure the fan came on properly. After all this he wouldn t let me pay him. My travel companions and I couldn t have been more appreciative. I just wish that the Toy Shop weren t so far away so I could become a regular customer. Thank you Wayland!

I could say this shop is the most honest auto repair shop I dealt with....I brought my Scion FRS there thinking I need a new set of brake pads...got a call from them a short time later letting me know that my pads are still ok...I definitely will go back to this shop not only for my brakes but for all other repairs that my car would need....they were highly recommended by a couple of my friends and now I know why!...if you own a Toyota or Scion, this is definitely the shop to go to!
