The service at Phaedrus is amazing -- doesn't get any better. I know I can trust them to be honest, only doing the work that is necessary to keep me safe and my car in tip top shape. Everyone there goes out of their way to accommodate my schedule and get me back on the road as soon as possible. This kind of personal, professional service is hard to find!

Steer clear if you want a shop you can trust. I came in for an "in between" oil change before the car's computer called for one, which will be familiar to those looking to own a BMW long term. This shop reset not only my oil life interval in the computer, but *all* of the intervals, causing any subsequent dealer visits to not cover service that should have been included, such as the car's first brake fluid flush. The shop then had an incredibly dismissive attitude when I raised the issue, saying "OMG it's $200", "we've already been talking about this for way too long" (2 minutes into a phone call), and "we've been in business for way too long to be dealing with this" (yes, exact quotes). Guess they've been in business for too to care about doing work properly, owning up to mistakes, and caring about money except when it comes time to take it from customers.

had a tricky situation that was initially thought to be a battery problem but turned out to be a starter issue. the team at Phaedrus was able to diagnose and fix my 2011 X3 with no problem and has been driving smoothly ever since! newish to the Bay Area and happy I found this place. will be taking my car in here for work now as they were kind, straight-forward and took the time to explain thought-processes and what was going on under the hood. Starter replacements on x3 s is not an easy task and every mechanic I called mentioned the annoyance of getting to the starter in these cars, but that did not stop this team for completing my car the same day! great team here.

Been bringing my cars here for the better part of ten years. Always to the point and don t dilly dally.Not on the cheaper side but definitely competently fixed without the dealer tag. So long as they re around I ll keep taking my car here.Work done has been radiator, all oils, water pump, valve cover replacement.

Found a nail in my tire this morning. I brought my car and they had it fixed within a couple hours for a reasonable price. Nice and professional staff. Great experience overall and would recommend!

They fixed my car and then I got a service engine light within 3 drives, brought it back, they fixed it again for $700 and on the way back home the car started smoking horribly, I immediately brought it back, they said there was nothing they can do.. so in total they took my money and then told me my car was worthless. It s as if they have no idea what they are doing or are taking advantage of people-sketchy & unhelpful people-Service: Engine repair

I have been going to Phaedrus for over 15 years. My car is a 1998 318 with over 280k miles and is still running strong. I take my car in for annual or bi-annual service when the engine indicator alerts me. I have been treated fairly and charged a reasonable amount for each visit. It has needed oil changes, brakes, and other basic maintenance. They only do the repairs that I authorize and they give me honest assessments of all work needed in their inspections. Over 15 years, the most serious issue I've had to deal with was when my car drowned in a storm. The engine computer had been practically submerged in water. Phaedrus replaced the computer and provided all the other necessary repair properly, timely and at a reasonable price. Otherwise, my car has been running well under regular commuting conditions for almost 23 years. I've never had a problem with the staff and I think anyone who has doesn't realize that Phaedrus are in demand because of their reputation and work ethic. Naturally they have a large service queue to deal with. I keep that in mind when I book my appointments in advance.

I love this shop so much. It s a beautiful space with honest and talented techs. I have an older m3 that has been in there few times now, and each time results in a fair and timely experience.If you live in SF and care about your BMW, then visit this place.

I've been going to Phaedrus for as long as I've had to do my own maintenance on my BMW wagon. The quality of work is excellent, the prices are reasonable (for this level of quality) and they're trustworthy. They lay out the options and the price and let you make the decisions. They also give you enough details to make an informed decision on repairs.Other good things: They open up early and stay open late which is really convenient. They are very good about keeping you informed of the progress of repairs. They keep track of your maintenance. They can suggest non-dealer solutions to problems (like my CV boots)Definitely consider them for your next repair.

These guys reflect BMW cars; thorough and expensive. My wife and l have used them for over 10 years. The building is a spectacular early motor garage which appears in books about SF architecture. The staff take the time to explain what's wrong clearly. They won't bill for stuff you don't need. But you pay BMW tech, and parts prices, and SF shop space prices. If you have a used BMW in SF l would highly recommend them.

Hands down, 100% the best customer service, expertise and attention from the most friendliest staff of ANY shop, company, store, I have ever been to. To put it plainly, I give them 10 out of 5 stars- yes..10 out of 5 stars to demonstrate just how great they are and how over and beyond they go to be an amazing company. I will NEVER take my car anywhere else EVER.

Phaedrus knows BMW better than BMW itself.Went to the dealer once because of an emissions issue and was told the issue was the catalytic converter. Phaedrus correctly diagnosed the problem for a fraction of the cost. Would recommend to anyone with a BMW.

After battling with a smog test for my 2002 BMW I finally took it to Phaedrus. They fixed it in a day and saved the day. If you have a BMW (old or new) this is the spot!

The people at Phaedrus BMW are world class. I've used their service since a few years now for my 1994 540i. Their staff is skilled, friendly, honest and trustworthy.

These guys know their stuff. I was a bit hesitant as I saw their hourly rate is significantly higher than the shops I had previously used but after going several times and comparing bills to other shops I have done similar maintenance, the cost is the same with Phaedrus claiming less time to do the same jobs.I have had electrical work done, maintenance, tires mounted on carbon wheels as well as a fuel pump diagnostic / replacement on my track car. They have also worked on my 2002's and done some pretty big maintenance work and worked with me to get a service schedule for my car.

Very fair pricing compared to other indie shops in the area and cheaper than the dealer. They also allowed me to use my own oil I had leftover.

Worst customer service. Not friendly at all. All they want is to take as much money as they can from you. Do not bother coming into this place. Darrel last time I saw him which was 1 year ago he open my hood in 2 minutes because it was stuck on the left side of the hook. Now I come in to see if he can do the same and he denied he did it before and now wants to charge me $500... shady business, shady people.
