Super convenient and straight-forward website for seeing what services are offered and making an appointment. I purchased new tires and made an appointment a couple days later to get them put on my car as well as get an alignment, oil change, and brake check. The pricing on the website is not all-inclusive, but I received two calls from the location before my appointment was formally made making sure I was aware of what the full price would be - I really appreciate this transparency and over-communication. Would definitely recommend this location.

I cannot recommend this plus enough. Best customer service experience I ve had anywhere in a long time. Came in with a flat tire on a hertz rental. Hertz was not approving my voucher in a timely manner but big o tires changed my tire even without the voucher being approved so I could go on my way. Amazing experience thank you guys.

I never write reviews but I would avoid this place at all costs. Customer service was horrible and they damaged my car.I took my car in a few months ago for a low/flat tire. They looked at it, told me it d be an easy patch and to come pick it up in a few hours. About an hour later I got a call saying the tire couldn t be patched and they d have to replace it oh well, it happens. So I bought two new tires (existing tires were fairly new so no point in replacing all of them) and they said it d be a few hours. Get a call soon enough and go to pick up. Looks fine, I pay and get my keys back then go out to my car to turn it on and my tire pressure sensor faults and alerts me to low tire pressure. Weird I figure they must ve forgotten to recalibrate a sensor or something. Get out and notice one of my other tires is pretty low.At this point I go back inside and try to flag down the guy who was helping me to explain the situation. He informs me he s on break and nothing he can do. No worries, So I walk to the back and politely ask somebody if they can help me. The person tells me he didn t work on my car and to find the person who did. I explain the situation and they say they can t help. So I wait inside and eventually flag down somebody else who begrudgingly tries to help. They examine my car and tell me all 4 of my Tire Pressure Sensors have simultaneously died during the repair and it d be ~$800 to replace. Also one of my other tires must have a hole in it they missed and all 4 tires have different amounts of air in them so they need to take it back.At this point I don t have much of a choice as I need my car back, so they end up rotating the damaged tire off and putting on my old tire that I gave them when I bought the two new ones But rudely refuse to do anything about the TP sensors they damaged and and want an additional $500-$800. When I say they were working fine when I dropped the car off so they must ve accidentally damaged them, they just double down that it s my fault and it d be $500-800 to repair. (Even though they d never given me a warning before). Now it s been a few months and I ve had 3 low tires due to a slow leak and have had to deal with my check engine light being constantly on due to tire pressure sensor faults till I can come up with the money to repair. 0/5 stars. Can t wait to spend more money somewhere else to fix the damage Big O Tires caused.

Great people, great service I had a flat on the freeway drove over there very slowly to the nearest tire shop. Went there, got my special tire but I took all day for one tire. But it was worth it. But they are great

Easy experience. I needed two original continental tires for my Tesla and they were able to get it for me in one day with installation. It came out to $130 cheaper than going to the Tesla dealership. Alignment was also $50 cheaper.

Some of the best experiences of San Francisco. All other shops needed an appointment two weeks in advance. We got done with our car tires in a day. Very professional work. Particularly Steven was very professional and helped us a lot. Thank you

I was limping around with a nail in my tire, going flat quickly, drove by and saw the Big O store right in front of me. They treated me professionally, explained my options, turned the new tire purchase and install quickly and efficiently. Thank you!

Caution: This location will try and nickel and dime customers. Customer service is questionable.I like Big O and have been buying tires from them for many years. I have been to many locations with great service. This location (165 S Van Ness Ave, San Francisco) IS NOT THE ONE TO GO TO!Purchasing tires from Big O entitles customers to certain services. This location will try and charge for these services. The manager is difficult to talk with... "let me tell you how this works..." . This behavior is consistent with other reviews. The first time I brought my car here I showed up to find it unlocked, windows down, with the key in it. I am surprised it was not stolen. The second time they charged my wife for free services and dealing with corporate and the shop manager was not worth going back for.Buy Big O but be aware of your benefits. AVOID THIS LOCATION.

This is my go-to auto shop now! Steve (Steven?) is always so helpful and kind. Most importantly, I find him trustworthy. I never feel that I'm being offered a service that isn't necessary. I really appreciate the friendly customer service and would highly recommend them!

Had a great experience getting new tires and a wheel alignment. Lawrence answered all my questions and gave me regular updates on when the work would be completed. Really appreciate the lifetime flat repairs and tire rotations that come with purchase.

(12/23) 4th visit. Steve told me the bad news that my tire had a nail and it was not repairable AND it was out of production. Then he spent 15 mins with me locating the tire at another store in the bay area. Very professional and very helpful, as they have been each time I go there.2021 Third time, still a charm. Francisco helped me understand the difference between the tires they had for my car and i feel like i choose the best for my budget and driving habits. Great service, great prices, yet again.Today was my second visit to Big O Tires on S. Van Ness. Second time i came in with a nail in my tire (from the streets of San Francisco). These guys are professional and quick! I feel like it's an ER room for cars. Prices are very very fair and the guys are totally professional and friendly. I wish they could fix my house, too!

This time it was horrible. I went for an oil change and a tire rotation. I went to buy something to drink and they called me after 40 minutes that my car was ready. I always put some marks on my rear tires to be sure they do tire rotation. When I arrived, I checked and the tires had not been rotated. I asked the person who sold me the service and he said yes. another of the employees confirmed that. and once again those who work inside doing the work confirm it. I showed the marks to the seller and they took my car to rotate the tires. I have bought my tires there I have also recommended my friends to buy tires and oil changes. but after this Disappointed in this store

Francisco did an amazing job. His customer service was really appreciated. He was willing to work with me and give me options for drop off and pick up. This was a very good deal. I ll be coming to this store for all my oil changes and tire needs from now on!

Good place if you like waiting for your car for hours even if it is like tire repair. They say it is ready at 4 pm,and you will be waiting for your car for 1 more hour after 4pm. Other than that, one of the staff is extremely rude and acts like you owe him something. What I am trying to say is that it is fun

Wish I could give zero stars. Went online and made an appointment for two tires. Picked out the tires and submitted the request. About an hour later was called by them and confirmed my appointment for 9am the next day but said the tires I ordered had to be shipped in from another store but they should be there by 10am or 11am and they would call me and let me know. I said ok cool. 1130 rolls around and nothing so I call them. Lawrence answered the call and kept telling me I had the wrong location and they didn t have me in the system. We went in circles for about 20 minutes.they finally found me.then they said they didn t get my tires in because they only had 2 tires in stock not 4. I told them I only needed two. So he said he would have to send his guy to pick them up. I said ok. They finally called me at 2pm. I went right away. When I arrived he told me it was going to be over 600 dollars! My estimate was for 460. I showed him the emails and the quotes and he said he wouldn t honor that price because that s not what he sees online. I went online in front of him and showed him! He then blew me off and said he wasn t going to honor it. Literally wasted my whole day and trip for nothing. I asked for a manager and he said he was the manager and he wasn t going to lower the price. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Great service and support. I worked with Esteban who helped me pick out some tires that would help with my driving needs. The appointment process was easy and the installation was faster than planned. Great place to get tires!

The most rude and unprofessional service ever. I made an appointment online to repair a flat tire and the guy at the check in said I needed to wait 2-3 hrs and could not leave the car. When I told him I can come back in the afternoon, he started yelling at me that they cannot accept it and either I wait or he won't help. Then he proceeded to insult me, telling me I'm a jerk. The worst experience of my life, would highly not recommend it.

They were helpful, thorough, took time to try to fix the alignment and explain to me that they fixed it almost 99% as to make it completely perfect they would need to replace manufacturer's parts and that it might be manufacturer's defect. The most important thing is they replaced 4 tires on the same day I contacted them. And the price was very competitive.

The guy who took care of me, Lawrence, is a gem. He s so kind and caring, and a knowledgeable salesman, too. He was detail-oriented, explained everything, was willing to run options by my boyfriend on the phone, and a great listener. My experience was excellent, and he s amazing at his job.

I really appreciated Big O helping me resolve an engine light issue. Big O on Geary (my usual location) had a master mechanic absent due to illness. So they sent me to Big O on South Van Ness. It was a little tricky getting into the shop, due to traffic and my unfamiliarity with that location. A service person greeted me and jumped into action. I felt confident that the shop was well-run and had good people.

I always feel like I'm overpaying with these guys. Sometimes I even suspect they make things up. Like I hit a curb on my left side, but they said I had a bubble on my right side tire as well.

You can really learn how the good/bad service is when you run into issues. I got a new set of wheel & tires but the new tire pressure sensors were not working right away. I had to do another two walk-ins to get it fixed. The whole aftermarket TPMS programming is a bit mess so I don't blame them for that. However, I really appreciate that both times I got a help immediately even though the shop was very busy and it wasn't a scheduled appointment. It works now. Thanks!

I received a text asking me to leave a review; I replied to the text that I had a very bad experience and asked for the store manager to call me. To date, no one has reached out, so I can only assume that they just don't care about my bad experience, so I will go ahead and post my review here.I have used this particular location for many years, buying tires and service there and have always had a positive experience. Last week was completely different. I took my vehicle there for an oil change. The woman who assisted me went outside to look at my car; when she came back in she suggested replacing my two front tires. I asked if they had them in stock and she said they did. After thinking about it for a moment (I hadn't planned on buying new tires that day and was getting my head wrapped around the idea) I said that we should replace the entire set, and I left my car for the service.Every other time I've been there, I've left with a printout of the services to be done, with an estimated cost. She had told me a price per tire as well as a total cost, but never gave me the printout. After getting back home and thinking about it further, the number she gave me didn't seem to add up, but I knew when I went back to get my car, I would be able to see the breakdown of costs.A few hours later, after getting a call that my car was ready, I returned and as she was trying to get her computer to work to check me out, I asked to see the breakdown of services. I immediately saw the discrepancy in the final amount, as there was a charge for a tire protection plan that had never been discussed in any way. I told her I didn't want that, so she removed the charge. I paid with my credit card and went outside to get my car.As I looked at the tires, I realized that they were not the same brand as the tires I had previously. I went back inside and told her they weren't the same tires, and she insisted that she had told me that they were different, and that I just didn't hear her correctly. Not only was this a blatant lie, but on their invoice it states very clearly "All Wheel Drive Warning! Some vehicle manufacturers do not recommend installation of less than 4 tires of different sizes and of a different brand and model...customer has been notified and hereby assumes all responsibility for any drive train damage". As she had originally recommended replacing only the front two tires, that would necessitate a conversation about those tires being made by a different company and the risk involved in doing so. There was no such conversation at all.I've decided to keep the tires that they installed; they wouldn't have been my first choice (I spent a great deal of time researching the previous set and was very happy with them), but they're not bad. The hassle of having them replaced and dealing further with this store just isn't worth it.So, to recap: NO printed estimate of charges. NO mention of a pricey tire protection plan added on. NO discussion that the replacement tires were not the same brand that I had on.I don't know if there's been a management or ownership change here, as I've always had very positive experiences in the past. I'm deeply disappointed in this experience, and am sad that I now need to find a new place to service my car, as I will never patronize this store again.

Great customer service: staff reviewed various options for new tires, the price and pros and cons. Called me to follow up. Service staff were quick and efficient.

I made an appointment to get all four tires replaced. I called the day before to make sure my tires were in stock, and Francisco let me know he wouldhave to order them. I called a few hours later and he let me know the tires were en route to him. When I showed up for my appointment, the tires were there and ready to go. Francisco and Armand were both very helpful and friendly. They did good work and now I have a great set of new tires. I ll be coming back here.

I had 2 visits to this location this month. I ve been to local spots for tires before but honestly, Big O has been the best. They re fast. The service desk folks are always courteous and helpful. I feel like I got a good price on my new tires and they patch for free. Big O all the way!

Went in for breaks and rotors for the front only. $580. Seems steep, but whatever. They work good.Scratched the hell out of my steering wheel cover though. I m not sure how, or how much they drove it but it s really bad. Seems like an easy thing to NOT DESTROY. Their standards have really slipped. Pretty upset about it.And a few days later I received a parking ticket for when the car was in their care. Had to go back in and show proof documents but once they had those, they paid it immediately, no fuss.

I have been to this location twice, once for a flat and once for an oil change and tire rotation. Both times I experienced amazing service. Staff have been friendly and helpful with my needs. The services were all done within a reasonable time frame.
