I m so so thankful to have found Robert s shop. Ever since my go-to mechanics retired (Automotive Specialists on Bryant St), I ve been trying to find a new mechanic shop to trust with my vehicles. Robert runs an awesome mechanic shop! I can see that he takes pride in the work that he/his staff perform and doesn t cut corners. I had a complicated repair that takes a lot of labor and Robert and his crew completed the job flawlessly. I swear my car runs smoother than it ever has after leaving his shop.A big difference is also his communication - Robert goes above and beyond in explaining the problem, presenting a solution, and providing an accurate estimate. Do yourself a favor and go to Robert s shop to get honest work done on your vehicle with a price estimate that doesn t go above the quote. I look forward to coming back for regular service and future repairs.Thanks again!

Excellent veteran-owned business. Robert is as honest as the day is long you know you can trust a mechanic when he s actively talking you out of services you propose. He also fixed an issue with my Subaru I d had for a while free of charge and rates are extremely fair. FYI the word had gotten out on this garage and it is a week to book a reservation, well worth it. I ll definitely be coming back, thanks Robert!!

I have been taking my car to Robert at Action Auto care for the past 15 years. Robert provides the best auto care, is honest and always gives me great advice and a fair price. I tried other auto shops before I found Action Auto Care and now I would never take my car anywhere else. Robert is the only one I trust to keep my car in top condition at an honest price. In addition he is always kind and friendly which is a bonus!

What an exceptional place. After taking our car to another shop and being quoted $900 for work, we took it here for a second opinion. This shop did the right thing, was honest, and said we didn't actually need any work. Really impressed with the integrity of these guys and will be a returning customer from here on out.

Selfishly, I'm hesitant to give a review out of fear that Robert gets too much business and gets too busy, but he deserves all of the glowing reviews in the world.I grew up in a small rural town, where the mechanic was someone who I could call up and get an honest take on my car's issues and their advice on how to approach any issues. When I brought it in, I knew I'd get fair, trustworthy, pricing and high quality work and advice.That's what I get from Robert in a busy city.It's so hard to trust mechanics when you've had bad experiences, but Robert/the Action Auto crew are a crew I would recommend to any one who needs mechanical work. Robert is the best car guy I ve ever had. I tell every person in SF to go to him. He s honest, on time, fairly priced, and has never talked down to me or made me feel uncomfortable. It s wild how rare that is, but I m so thankful to have found Action Auto Care. As an example, I called Robert recently about a light on in my 17 year old Honda Pilot and he said don t worry about it - it s $400 and you can just monitor your tire pressure manually. It s not worth replacing. That kind of service is unheard of these days.

Robert is really trustworthy: he offered to inspect and charge my battery for free, and only once we found out it wasn't working we chose to change it. The price he charged was reasonable, the whole amount was stated upfront. Awesome customer service and years of experience. I can t commend them enough and I ve been going here exclusively since finding them. Fair and transparent pricing with honesty is hard to beat in an auto shop.I ve had my brakes and rotors replaced, regular oil changes, pre purchase inspections, 60k mile maintenance, etc you name it. They also follow the car maintenance schedule as well so you can rest assured that necessary maintenance will be done as needed.

I have been bringing my car here for almost a decade now. Robert is honest and trustworthy, explains everything in detail, and is very transparent about what needs to be done. Hes not trying to get money out of you, he has no problem saying something doesn't need to get fixed right now.Work is done on time, and all costs are detailed up front. Prices are reasonable for San Francisco.

Robert is the most trusted mechanic I have ever gone to, and we have now been taking our cars to Action Auto Care for years. I've had him take a look at issues and then tell me that it was something minor -- no charge. Or that it's something I don't have to worry about for a while. And if something needs to be fixed, he will clear it with me first. Robert is phenomenal. Finding an excellent, honest mechanic can feel like the holy grail. Also, he and his staff went beyond the Covid-19 safety requirements so I had no concerns about having my car worked on during these unusual times.Brief update: Robert continues to be great. After calling 15 different mechanic shops and getting price quotes from all of them as well as discussing the procedure on how they go about doing the service...I decided to put my trust and give my business to Action Auto Care.First time customer and wanted to make sure that the transmission fluid change was done correctly because after all if a shop under fills or over fills or doesn't top it off properly when the vehicle is warmed up then that can lead to serious problems with your transmission which means replacement and a lot of money.The way Robert explained how he does the transmission fluid change ultimately made me decide to give him and his shop my business. The price was reasonable and cheaper than most other quotes. Dropped off my vehicle in the morning and just like he said around 4pm he called to let me know my vehicle was ready.I also asked him about my control arm bushings because other mechanic shops I took it to previously was saying either I had to replace it or it need to be replaced in the near future. Robert was such a nice mechanic and honest mechanic that he took the time to show me exactly how to tell if it is time to replace the bushings...I'm really happy and thankful I finally found a mechanic that is trying to honestly give good information to the customer and pass on knowledge so that I now can confidently know when it is time to change it.Ultimately it's about building a trustful relationship with a mechanic where you can feel confident that the information and service that you are receiving is honest and the price is not outrageous.I can say after my first time trying out this shop that I will be back for future car maintenance/repair based on their price for services compared to other shops but more because of the honesty and customer service that he provides with passing on knowledge so that you can feel confident in knowing more about your own vehicle.Service: Transmission

It's been 25 years or more since I started using their excellent services. The folks are there good people. I have 100% trust in them to do either big project or scheduled oil changes. One of the repairs I had was to replace the engine overheated on my beloved 1999 Acura RL. Robert, the owner was able to find the used engine in excellent condition to finish the job. RL is still running good as my backup vehicle. Fine service and good honest people they are.

I absolutely love Action Auto. Robert keeps my beater on the road, and tells me how to keep driving it for a little longer. What mechanic does that? He could give me a laundry list of repairs needed, but he knows it isn't worth sinking a ton o'money into my old, old Honda. And I wouldn't anyway. But he is so honest and up front I trust him implicitly with any car, not just my oldie. My new one will be visiting this shop too. Robert gave my car great service over the years, and earned a lot of my trust by talking through both the repairs he made and the ones that he advised against. Even when I moved away and had issues on a cross-country drive, he put in extra effort to walk me through his analysis and help ensure my safety. Highly recommended.

Everyone is nice here but I feel like because I'm a woman who knows nothing about cars that they saw an opportunity to over diagnose the repairs on my vehicle and potentially make money. This is definitely where a wealthy San Franciscan would come take their car but that is not me, I am a day laborer and mostly single mother. I'm sure they do a great job but the costs are steep. 150$ for the safety inspection and they wanted 1100$ to replace a control arm bushing. Google search says that labor on that repair should cost no more than 400$. I'm getting it fixed at another reputable shop plus realignment tomorrow for 481$.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Trustworthy, honest, upfront and clear on their proceeds and costs. Robert has helped me price check batteries and other parts elsewhere so ensure I m aware of the market rates and also is great at pointing out what can wait and what needs to be done sooner rather than later.

I can t recommend Action Auto Care highly enough. I ve been getting work done here for the last 3 years. Robert knows his stuff. He won t charge you if he can t find / fix the problem and his rates are super fair for SF. As someone who likes to work on cars myself, he always takes the time to explain issues in detail and if it s easy enough even encourages me to fix it myself (which another shop would NEVER do). He even allowed me to recycle a few used auto parts. Robert is the man.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Action Auto Care provides outstanding and high quality service. I have taken multiple cars (Honda and Kia) there over the years for brakes, Their exceptional customer service, consistency, response time and availability for questions is unmatched. I trust them completely. Robert is incredible. He goes far and beyond for the customer. He follows up, researches issues if necessary and truly has the customer's best interest at heart. In fact it is because of Robert, and his expertise that I was able to prevent my Honda dealer from taking advantage of me in dealing with an electrical issue with my CRV. The dealer claimed it was a caliper issue when it was not. They were going to charge me possibly thousands of dollars, but thanks to Robert, and his advice in demonstrating it was a completely different issue, I had to pay nothing and protected myself from the dealership's antics. Over the past 6 or 8 years we've been taking our cars to Robert @ Action. Hands down the best experience we've ever had with a mechanic extremely fair pricing and very upfront and honest about what needs work and the most efficient way to approach it. Can't recommend him highly enough.

The most competent and honest car repair I have ever known in nearly forty years of taking care of my cars. I know something about cars, can fix a few things myself, and do not get snowed by dishonest car assessments or poorly done repairs. I cannot recommend the owner, Robert Kim, highly enough.

I had a pretty brief experience with Action Auto. I had a blown taillight, so it wasn't a huge job. It was a short wait and they took me right in. They're conveniently located (lots of street parking if you want to check in first). I also asked them to check my brake pads, which I was ready to replace, and they were honest and gave me the assessment that I had a few thousand more miles to go.I went here based on the previous stellar reviews and found nothing that would suggest anything different. I will be a repeat customer.

Robert has done excellent work on my cars for years. When I needed help that he couldn't provide, he directed me to someone who could (smogging old car that had failed). Go to Action and you won't go wrong

By appointment only. I had a CVT fluid change done. Owner was honest and quoted me a fair price. Excellent service and on time. Will be coming back.
