Although they were personable and we appreciated their free ride service, I was utterly aghast at paying over 800 dollars for a new splash shield- a cheap 50 dollar piece of plastic. I understand that it takes time and labor to install, but online estimates for the same part and labor are not even half that price. I feel extremely embarrassed for being taken advantage of by a shop that we used to trust and will not patronize again in the future.

I'd give 6 starts if I could. I was so thrilled to get referred to a place that has such good customer service and trustworthy mechanics. As a woman I've been taken advantage of when mechanics don't think I can understand various situations with my car. I feel so much better now that I am treated with respect and helped to make the best decision for me without getting ripped off. Great prices and absolutely fantastic staff. I cannot find another mechanic outside of a dealership that provides a shuttle home. Did I mention they give you coffee when you arrive in the morning to drop off the car? I can't recommend them enough.

The service seems fine, can t really verify because I only had a couple oil changes. Many little annoyances along the way, no Amex, fibbed about repairing a tire, will not install your own parts.Totally their prerogative, but I won t be back.

Smitty's Service is THE place to go for all of your car troubles! I had the absolute pleasure to meet owner, Mike Smitty, whom had the most friendly/caring persona, along with extensive knowledge in the field of Mechanics. The cost was very reasonable for the hard work his team put in; I will definitely be going back to them for anything in the future. I was told by a friend of mine who also goes here for automotive work. My truck needed internal work. Chevy quoted me 14k for whole new engine and I said no way! . I went to Smittys service and they diagnosed it told me what s wrong with my truck and I gave them the go ahead to work on it. They worked on it and gave it back with in a week time frame. The employees who work there are super professional, know what they are talking about, and genuinely care for their customers. 10/10 would recommend them. They are gonna be my go to for now on for any automotive work I need done. Thank you Smittys service for getting me back on the road!

Smittys is a great local mechanic in Normal Heights. They are thourough and gave me good information and advice for taking care of my 1998 toyota 4runner. I worked with them to address the immediate needs and plan out future repairs that would be required for my older car. They even offered my dog a little snack when we dropped the car off. They are extremely responsive and take a lot of pride in their work.

The level of communication and customer service at Smitty's is leagues above than any other auto shop I've experienced. Brittany has always been enormously helpful in walking me through their thorough assessments and recommendations, which are also sent in an impressively organized and easy-to-digest online summary with photos. They leave you feeling empowered and comfortable that they have handled everything with the highest integrity. All I can say is, "Wow." I've been to quite a few auto-repair shops in my day, and I can't say that any of them have actually been a pleasant experience- EXCEPT for Smitty's. They are competent, professional, friendly, and just genuinely pleasant people. It actually feels GOOD to do business with them, because I know that they're giving me an honest assessment of what needs to be absent any upsells whatsoever. There is no place in the entire country I'd rather take my vehicle to.Services: Tire rotations, Brakes

Great customer service. They don't pressure you to continue with repairs needed. I have called so many times asking about the repairs my car needed and they always gave detailed info. Outstanding greeters upon arriving. Even though charges are overpriced for me I see that others have seen the great service they provide because everthing is by appointment and it's a week or 2 for available appts. They have an easy to use and fast cash handling system.

The reviews are on point. My car needed servicing and was out of warranty. I chose Smitty s based on the reviews and proximity to home. I was over impressed with their client service. They offered to take home when I dropped my car off. They also picked me up when the car was ready. They gave me a detailed inspection report and the prices were very fair. I highly recommend Smitty s!!!

Let's start with something that you notice immediately and is so rare these days: friendly, courteous, employees. All 6 employees that I even briefly came into contact with greeted me with a smile and hello. And it wasn't fake or contrived, such as 'have a good day' without even looking at you.The Inspection Report received via text was thorough and easy to understand. There was zero pressure to purchase any additional services.Smitty's earned my trust. Smittys was amazing! As a woman, having a woman answer the phone IMMEDIATELY put me at ease, but either way, ALL the staff were so friendly, helpful, answered my questions (even when I made em repeat lol). When the work was done, I got a text with a link to my report, with photos. Everything was laid out clearly. The work was done so well. Pickup was breeze. They were cleaning my car with air condition on full blast when I was done with payment. I honestly couldn't speak more highly. No games, no hidden anything, no playing me for a fool because I'm a woman. Just friendly, quality, professional work. These are MY car people now.

LOVE SMITTY'S SERVICE The employees are knowledgeable and friendly, and I always feel like they care about me and my vehicle. The software system they have, which helps you triage your auto repair needs, is amazing! There are hyperlinks to videos that explain why the suggested service is necessary and the pros and cons of the service too!! I will always trust my car to Smitty's!!!!

***DO NOT GET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SERVICE***Shmitty, I wanted to love you. I came in and got a fair and reasonable price and service for an oil change and loved how they text a rating system on how well your vehicle is. However I followed up with a check engine light service and feel almost robbed. I took my vehicle in at 730 am and disclosed that I knew the check engine code was for a sensor that had been giving me trouble and thought maybe there was another code that my warehouse $20 code reader couldn't detect. Well after 9 hours at 430pm I received the vehicle back and paid almost two hundred dollars for them to tell me it was the sensor I mentioned. Look I get it they run test and check everything and that should be a charge, but what gets me is in the labor description it states " If the check engine light should come on within one year diagnostics will be performed at no charge to you even for an unrelated issue." Okay well what if the check engine light is still on? I don't think I should receive a free service, but paying over $150 for them to take 9 hours to Squeegee my 4 windows and plug a 3 min car reader in is robbery.Honestly I think if you know what service you want *Smitty's is pretty fair in pricing so I didn't give one star.

I needed a replacement battery for my truck. I tried a few other places and some were out of stock and others you needed to book an appointment. My husband and I have been bringing cars here for years. This shop is organized, transparent and honest. They send detailed information on what the issues are and what/ how they will be repaired along with photos! This team of professionals obviously care about their reputation for service. They have all committed to the idea of excellent customer service, reaching a level well beyond a dealer shop. They are impeccably courteous. And somehow they appear genuine, a feat few garage s customer s reps achieve, including the dealers. Both times I came in they found the problem i could not. Their diagnostic skills are solid. Their rates are good, maybe a little less than shops of their caliber. They let you know the issues of your car, but do not push beyond their written report of what is urgent and non urgent. But what really sets them apart is how they treat you. You feel you got great service from people who care about you and appreciate your business. It is so great to find a neighborhood shop that treats everyone like a VIP. Dropped off my car that wouldn't start.. Smittys performed a timely, all-inclusive inspection and promptly texted me a detailed diagnostic on what was wrong with my vehicle. They then gave me time to decide what to do with my vehicle, all without charging me for leaving my vehicle at their shop.I was very impressed with their business practice of just doing a diagnostic and letting you know what was going on, all the while without pressuring you into getting any specific work done. They are extremely friendly here! Very knowledgeable & will be transparent with what your vehicle needs. They don't try to upsell you, & they don't over charge either. I started coming to Smitty s after my car warranty ran out, which was about 2 years ago. I have had a few bigger ticket services done and some oil changes. They are very professional and the shop is clean and organized. They don t try to hard sell you on unnecessary services and you can have an honest conversation with them about what fixes are urgent and what can wait. The owner gave me a ride home one time, very nice and interesting guy. Just a well run small business that has been around a long time. My car is newer so luckily I don't need to get it serviced often, but Smitty's is my go to for everything. All the staff are super nice and knowledgeable. They work fast and their prices are very responsible. The online car diagnostic they send you is really convenient too. They get booked up quickly though, so definitely make an appointment. Also, they went above and beyond and cleaned my filthy car windows!

Took my car in because it wouldn t start, I was worried I needed a new starter. I also had some other issues that I put off fixing so I had them do a full inspection. Ended up needing quite a few repairs but they didn t hassle me into doing everything all at once. I got my car back yesterday and it drives great! I've been going to Smitty's service since I was 16 years old and Grandpa owned the place. They have always taken good care of me. Honesty has always been most important when dealing with me. I have never felt they did a job that was unnecessary. There was even a time that I asked for a tune-up but I was told my vehicle did not need it. That kind of honesty keeps me going back.The work you get out of Smitty service is better than you would get anywhere else. Excellent mechanics.I have referred them too many people over the years and all of those people who still live in town, still use them when their vehicles are in need of service. I highly recommend them.

They have excellent customer service and everyone there is so friendly. They all seem to genuinely love their jobs and love what they do. Once they check your car, they send a text with a link to more details. It shows a stoplight chart (red, yellow, green) of what needs to be addressed with the car. Really easy way of seeing the high priority items that need attention. And it was such a quick turnaround time! I dropped my car off in the morning and it was easy by 2pm the next day. So amazing and I m so happy that I found such a reliable auto shop!

I cannot say enough amazing things about this shop! Alex, Beto, Jay, and the entire team are incredible, their customer service is above the rest! As of today, they have worked on all of my vehicles! I have been having some trouble with older cars that were on their way out all year, and Smitty s has been so helpful in extending their lives, providing valuable recommendations, and completing the work in record setting time. Their prices are fantastic, and as a struggling college student, I cannot be more grateful. I know very little about cars, but I know that the team will always give me the best price and will make sure that I am getting work completed on my car that is greatly needed. They never try to force or talk you into other services, and I always trust that they know what is best for me and my car. Their customer service is outstanding and I always feel welcome and taken care of when I go to Smitty s. I have never been to a shop where they wash your windows and sanitize the car before you take it home it s a great touch! Shoutout to Jay and Alex for dealing with my indecisiveness and lack of car knowledge with kindness and support, you guys are the best! Smitty s is a very dependable and professional stop for any vehicle needs. I got a good amount of work done and these gentlemen were able to get all of my fixes done efficiently in just a couple days. My car has been running very smoothly ever since and they even gave me free warranty coverage that I wasn t expecting at all to get. This is one of those car places that will gain your trust and have you using them as your new one-stop shop for all your car needs!
