Polycare Automotive performed work on my Toyota Sequoia and I had an absolutely horrific experience. I brought my vehicle in to have the engine serviced as the light came on. Brian and his team of techs diagnosed the issue as a timing issue and informed me the fix was to replace the timing system would total $4,492.41. I approved the work and a week and half later the vehicle was ready to pick up. 3 days and less than 125 miles later the engine made an awful noise, so I stopped driving it and had it towed to his shop. It took him and his team another week+ to diagnose the issue and recommend a fix. I was told I now had a rod knock that required a total engine replacement totaling over $12k. Previously he never mentioned that there could be other potential issues with the engine while completing the initial estimate or while picking the vehicle up after service. He stated this was a new issue unrelated to the work he performed and offered no discount for the new work to be performed. I had my vehicle towed from his shop, as I do not trust that any additional work would be done correctly. I am now in the process of seeking a resolution through San Diego small claims court as Brian and his wife have stopped returning my calls after previously stating they wanted to have a dialogue open to resolve the issue. Please use extreme caution before giving Polycare Automotive your money/business. The work was slow and not done to my satisfaction.

This place charges ridiculous prices and will take advantage of you if you re not careful. I dropped off my car to get the breaks checked and was called the next day and quoted for about $650 to replace what I thought was all 4 breaks. Apparently I misunderstood the girl on the phone and I only needed the front two breaks and rotors replaced. I would have never agreed to pay $650 for only two breaks and rotors. That s an absurd amount to pay. Save your money and go anywhere else other than here.Continued: Thought I should add on to this because of the response from the owner. As the owner stated, the Service Writer clearly explained that my breaks were metal to metal and needed to be replaced. This is true that she stated my breaks were metal to metal however she NEVER stated that it was just my front breaks and that my rear breaks were completely fine. I agreed to the pricing and authorized the work because your Service Writer gave me the impression that all 4 breaks and rotors needed to be replaced. If you guys really think that $650 for two breaks and rotors is a fair price in todays economy it is clear that your company has been deceiving people for a very long time.

How can a routine oil check turn into a nightmare?I took my Audi Q5 in for an oil change and a general inspection. The car had no issues, but I wanted to have it checked and ready before our holidays. I had planned a long trip with my family around California, Arizona, and Nevada. The personnel were very courteous. Soon after leaving the place, I received an SMS stating that my car was ready, along with an inspection report. The inspection report contained a mix of accurate information (e.g., the underbelly cover was hanging) and some points that didn't make sense. For instance, they claimed that both the front and rear tires had 7mm of tread, which was impossible since the front tires were brand new, and the rear tires were nearly worn out. The same discrepancy applied to the brakes; they stated that both the front and rear had 7-8mm of brake pad thickness when, in reality, the rear brake pads were new (less than 2000 miles), and the front ones were very old. However, none of these discrepancies were the main issue. I returned to the garage just before they closed at 5 pm and picked up the car. I got a "Please drain off oil" message on my display that I couldn't remove. And more importantly, as I merged onto the 805 freeway, I suddenly heard a loud noise. I had to pull over and quickly realized that the underbelly cover was scraping against the road. The underbelly cover had been hanging down slightly (about 2-3 inches) for almost two years. They even noted this in their inspection report. However, right after leaving their garage, it was lying on the road. I couldn't believe it was a coincidence. It seemed like they had unscrewed it and then attempted to reattach it, damaging it in the process. Since it was a Friday and I needed to use the car, I decided to remove the cover myself so I could continue driving without it.I informed them of what had happened, and they instructed me to return on Monday for repairs. So, I placed the cover in my trunk, returned to the garage, and explained the situation once more. I patiently waited for 30 minutes in their office while they repaired it. Finally, they informed me that it was fixed, though they mentioned it was a temporary solution and that I should consider a more permanent repair in the long term.To my surprise, the following day, as I was about to leave for my holiday trip, I opened the trunk, and the cover was still there! I had no idea what they had actually done to the car or what they were inspecting, but they had not fixed anything. At the end, they made me request permission to leave work early and return to the garage twice, wasting more of my time and not solving the issue. And the troubles didn't end there. Just two days later, I received a message on my display indicating that the alternator was not working. I had never experienced a mechanical issue before, so what a coincidence! While the staff were kind and polite, all I can say is that I received terrible service that created unnecessary problems and ruined my holiday

Brian and his team helped me with a big AC problem that my first-generation GMC Canyon has had for a long time. Clogged lines and a broken compressor. They provided me with detailed explanation for the steps they took and what steps would be required to resolve whatever lingering issues there are. The team provided a detailed vehicle inspection digital report which ranked the status of equipment/parts and recommendations based on urgency. Another cool aspect of this company was the overnight vehicle drop off option where you can leave your keys in the mail drop box and security patrols the lot overnight. They provide updates via phone/text. My bill was about $1300 in the end, but big problems require a lot of hard work which was provided with kindness. I felt reassured that Brian is a man of God which was bonus points for me. Oh yea the AC seems to be working like new.Services: Auto A/C recharge, Vehicle Inspection, A/C installation & repair, Vehicle safety inspection

Best customer service! From start to finish, the customer service was exceptional. Bianca (service advisor) was willing to answer any of my questions. Regarding the actual car service, my car felt as if it were brand new, leaving my appointment. I had a regular maintenance service done initially and had to return for a follow-up to replace two minor parts. I will highly recommend Polycare Automotive.Services: Engine repair, Oil change

Brian is very knowledgeable about cars and is always ready to share it. He's practical, honest, and fair, too. His staff are all great and friendly. They've all gone above and beyond to help you feel safe and comfortable during these COVID times. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for service on their cars (but check first to see if they service your particular make/model).

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. They treated me like family getting Wendy, my Camry up and running again. She had an unexpected, sudden breakdown smoke coming from the hood, lights turning on in the dash, the whole shabang. Brian, his wife Shirley, the whole team are a rare beautiful gem to encounter in the auto industry. Thank you so much for every bit of kindness, knowledge, work that was extended. Highly recommend going here

Went to this place for power steering, they fixed that but I had to come back because of a misaligned belt they did. After they fixed my belt they told me about a loose transmission pan in which they themselves didn't bolt in all the way. Had to tighten them myself, don't come to this place if you want your car to have a dozen more problems than it originally did.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Eric greeted me jovially, while Jonathan swiftly sorted my oil change and Brian taught me about viscosity and oil additives. The wifi was fast enough for my zoom call, and the staff even made time to share some pointers and recommendation on MINI maintenance.--10/10 would Polycare again!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

Worst place to bring your car.. i had this following repairs to them:1. Transmission switch signal then Brian changed the Solenoid which didnt resolved the problem. I brought the car over and over since the trany light still lits up, he ended up referring me to a trany specialist and offering a $100 gift check that i can use towards trany repair, I paid $800 to them. I search trany specialist and i brought at LA they changed the Trany switch and we only paid $200 and problem was resolved. The trany specialist in LA is even wondering as to why Solenoids where changed and advice us to return back to polycare and show the switch to them, but we did not bother.2. They missed diagnosed my car, they said that my car needs new filters and belt which is fine but my car really needs is new rotors because it is shaking when braking to lower speed. I WAS THE ONE TOLD THEM TO TEST DRIVE THE CAR SO THEY WOULD KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. So they did, AND CAME UP THAT ROTORS ARE REALLY NEEDED TO BE CHANGE.3. Brake rotor changed and serpentine belt, i paid them almost $700 for front axle pads and rotor change and belt. Around 18 days after, i brought the car for routine tire rotation at tire store and they notice that one of the lug nut at left front was over tightened so they did not touch it and did right side rotation instead, tire dealer ask me if someone touch the wheels and bring it back to them if someone does. So i brought back to Polycare, they tried to remove the over tightened lug nut and it ended up snapping and now they are repairing including the wheel hub they said for $600 more.. its their fault in the first place.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My husband has his BMW serviced here and he is very happy with their professionalism and their savoir-faire . We took an appointment and are getting my own car a beautiful Honda Civic checked next Monday because of some noise it makes when making turns - they fixed my husband's car on some leak that some other auto repair garage did not fix - my husband thinks very highly of Polycare Automotive Inc. Thank you for such expertise and such caring service -

Brian and his team are extremely professional and walk their clients through repair processes with detailed explanations for everything they do. The team is knowledgeable and helpful. They are not the cheapest option around but you can trust that they use good parts and do great work. They won't take you for a ride.

Truly my favorite auto repair shop anywhere. Despite moving back to Los Angeles, I have yet to find a place as honest or good working as Polycare. Owner Brian taught me more about my car and the auto industry as a whole than all shops combined. I even noticed he adjusted a gap in my soft top without me asking nor him mentioning! Abs nothing negative to say about polycare.

Have brought my Japanese cars here for years. I used to work on my own cars (for 15 years) but don't have the time or space to do that anymore. I found this place and feel very comfortable with their expertise. Brian knows his stuff and I trust their mechanics. Their prices are fair and legitimate, which is not always true of other shops.

These guys were so great!! I was out a headlight for my Hyundai and came in without an appointment and they got me in right away even though they were busy! They even sent one of the mechanics out right away to get the bulb for my car. I was only waiting a little over half an hour and their waiting area is nice and nice/helpful people! Good prices!

I relocated a few months ago to the San Diego area and left my honest mechanic 500 miles away. I think I found his twin brother in Brian! They did excellent work on my Honda Civic blown head-gasket problem and fix a couple of other small things at no charge. I would recommend this place highly!

These guys are great. Had an unusual issue with my car and an they quoted an hour in labor. Took a bit longer and they had two people working on it. They billed the original quote. That's integrity.

It s not every day that you are pleasantly surprised by an auto mechanic. I am a shady tree mechanic, and I came to Polycare Automotive with some pretty strange requests. The guys at Polycare were genuinely interested in fixing the problem, and Jesus somehow talked me into it.The bottom line is that my car is now running as good as it ever has, and Polycare charged me a very reasonable fee for a really high quality repair. I don t think that I have ever been so impressed by a mechanic.

I am not really sure why, but I trust these people. That is the most important factor for me in a car shop. I have taken my car there many times only to be told that nothing needs to be done, and was charged nothing for the checkup. They seem to really care about their work and if they do anything to the car they make sure its done with the best quality. Their lobby is a little small but they are usually quick with their service. Friendly staff. It never seems they are forcing any services you do not want.

Called for a repair estimate for rear brakes and rotors because the dealer wanted to fix them for $424. Brian quoted $369 but said based on what the dealer told us, we don't really need service yet. Five stars for honesty!

Went in thinking I need my brake pads replaced because of a mild screeching sound. After inspection they said I don't need to replace anything and explained the source of the noise ( rust on the drums). And told me to come after a few months. Very honest! Didn't charge me anything for the inspection either!
