We took our 1999 Lexus RX300 to a San Diego Lexus dealer because the Check Engine Light was on. The dealer identified two major repairs that needed to be made with an estimated cost of more than $15,000. We paid $200 for the estimate and took the car home.A friend of ours has been taking his 1999 Mercedes to Lusti Motors for more than a dozen years, and he recommended we take our Lexus there instead. We did. Ryan Lusti was super helpful and kept in touch with us all through the process. We agreed to Lusti's diagnosis and recommendations, and the total bill was less than $2,000 - about 10% of what the dealer had estimated. Ryan also gave us a loaner car while the repairs were being made.Our friend was right and we've become new permanent customers of Lusti Motors. Our RX300 has 120K miles on it and we hope to keep it going to 200K miles, with Lusti Motors' help. Over the years I have owned a Volvo 960 and two Volvo XC-90's. Lusti motors has serviced all of them (many different issues.) Not only did I love my Volvos, but I loved Lusti Motors service! Always friendly, professional, honest, with excellent service and reasonable prices. Finding a trustworthy auto repair shop is invaluable. They receive my highest recommendation:-)

RYAN THE MAN THAT TOOK MY ORDER AT THE FRONT DESK WAS VERY MANNERABLE AND PROFESSIONAL. HE TOLD ME EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO KNOW CLEARLY AND TO THE POINT. WHEN HE I GOT MY 2004 PASSAT BACK IT RAN SMOOTHLY AND PICKED UP MORE SPEED THAN IT HAD WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT IT IN. I DIDN'T GET CHARGED AN OUTRAGEOUS PRICE. I GOT A GOOD PRICE. THATS WHERE I'M TAKING MY CAR FROM NOW ON ! I'M REALLY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE.

I was having a tough time finding a good repair shop for the year and make of my 2004 Audi. And thank goodness that I found Lusti! Ryan was so patient with me, and giving me peace of mind with repairs for my car. I highly recommend this place! A big shout-out and thank you to Ryan!

I've used Lusti motors for over 20 years! My first car was a 1980 Volvo DL in 1993 and I've taken multiple cars including a Honda Civic, BMW 325i, Saab 95, Volvo S60 and now my Audi Q5. They do reliable and affordable work of all kinds on all makes and models. They recently really helped me out and saved my about $500 on the last repair versus going to the dealership. Lusti Motors has been my repair shop for many years. Over the years I have found them to be skilled, helpful, friendly, truthful, and courteous. I have always felt that when I left my car with them, it was in good hands. I have recently moved out of town and miss them a lot. I'm fortunate enough to drive a wonder from the Black Forest and I cannot imagine anyone but Lusti Motors looking under the hood. I've been with them through a few iterations ( Autohaus Stuttgart on Balboa anyone?) because they've never disappointed and for every service visit, I believe the cost per visit is fair. My service advisor Ryan, has been nothing but efficient, personable and professional and will keep you informed between drop-off and pick-up.You'd be hard pressed to find a full service service center for imports other than Lusti Motors.Service: Engine repair

Lusti takes such good care of my older, high mileage Mazda. I've taken it to them several times now for maintenance and repairs. Their mechanics do such a great job, and Ryan and the other customer service folks have always been excellent. I've always been treated with respect and their communication is top notch. I depend on my car as a small business owner who has several client stops per day. They don't leave me guessing about the status of my repairs, but keep me updated and have always returned my car to me at or before their estimated time. Their prices are not the lowest, but are very reasonable and well reflect the quality of their work.I also appreciate that they have a very easy to use online appointment scheduler for maintenance appointments, but are also easy to contact and schedule on the phone when I've had emergency breakdowns.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Engine repair, Brakes, Oil change

Our engine light came on and the car was running rough. Dealer said they could look at it in 7-10 days . I called Lusti because they were close to my home and I was desperate. Turned out GREAT. Ryan got us in that day and diagnosed the problem by late afternoon. We had our car back by noon the next day. Just a strong recommendation for Lusti Motors and team! I took my 98 MBZ E320 in for repairs that had been put off by previous owner. A/C not cold, drivers side rear window in-op, fuel gauge not reading correctly, differential leak etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of customer service, product knowledge and professionalism of Ryan Lawrence. There is not a single question on the technical systems in my Benz that he can not answer! He paired my car up with technician Mario Cota who did a great job on all the repairs!I was very impressed with Ryan's communication - very timely and always keeping me posted on progress. Lusti has a text-communication platform that allows them to send you all updates, parts and labor costs and pictures of the repairs while your car is in for service. Impressive!The combination of excellent customer service, solid communication, quality repair work and competitive pricing is tough to beat! Lusti Motors is right in the neighborhood and I am very glad I found them. It turns out my old 1985 MB 300 TD is tough to get mechanics to work on. Once I finally found out about Lusti, they took on the work and did a great job. My car runs better than ever and I feel much more confident driving it. They also perform steam cleaning services. They are very organized and efficient. I like that. I came to Lusti for the very first time, after leaving the dealer where I had always taken my car. I had felt ambushed by the dealer when they surprised me with a terrible story about all the things that were suddenly wrong with my car (and I had taken it in every 6 months to AVOID surprises). Cost estimate was $2500. Wow. I had heard great things about Lusti, so I drove straight there. They did a complete checkup, paying particular attention to the areas the dealer had found. It would have been easy for Lusti Motors to tell me I indeed needed all that work, but that they would do it for $2300. But no, they were completely honest and told me I only needed one thing replaced and everything else was fine. Total bill was under $750, which included a needed alignment. And the car is like new again. Thank you so much.UPDATE- That was Jan 2019. I came in for a 6 mo checkup and oil change in July 2019. I feel even better now than I did before. And I felt great before. The service was quick, friendly, professional. They really take good care of me.

Lusti Motors provides consistently reliable and reasonably-priced care for my Mercedes. Even though it is long out of warranty, they keep it looking and performing like new. Their 24-hour drop-off service is a perfect fit for my late-hours lifestyle.

Lusti Motors has earned their outstanding reputation for excellent service in automotive repair and maintenance. I have been going to Lusti for over ten years and every visit has been a positive experience. Their mechanics are trained and certified and know how to make cars run. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, polite, and customer oriented. I have been most impressed with Lusti Motors because of their competent workmanship and their quality of service. I most strongly recommend Lusti Motors!

As a first time client, I was very happy with the alternator replacement service I recently received. From the moment I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted by "Oscar" who's friendly help, kind and patient explanation of how they would first test related components, time frame of repair and price, I was fully informed when I left my car. In a relatively quick turn-around, my happy, washed car was back to running great! Thank you, Lusti Motors!

I've always taken my euro cars (when possible) to mom & pop shops for regularly scheduled service or repairs- to save and take advantage of lower hourly labor rates they typically charge- compared to the large dealerships. Most of these small businesses have technicians on staff who were actually trained and worked at the big dealership Service Departments- So, I see no reason to pay the significant 'up charge' for all the pomp & circumstance that a full dealership offers- just so they can pay for their massive overhead- to make you feel extra special- many car owners need to get a clue: In their higher costs- 'You' are the one paying for them to treat you like royalty... if you need and require that- fine. But it's not necessary for me. Some small euro repair shops I've done business with were reliable for a just a while, but went downhill as their top repair staff move-on to other employment opportunities... and others just don't know customer service or how to manage a business. Lusti however has gained my business and earned my trust over the years because they have (and continually prove) they are in business with the 'customers interests' at heart. Sure, they are in the business to make money, but also even regularly offer incentives and discounts to help out with unexpected repair costs, etc. I've always been treated friendly and with respect. They offer everything a major dealership does- just on a smaller scale and without all the needless drama. If you own a European make vehicle (especially out of manufacturer warranty)- I'd certainly consider Lusti as your service provider... I HIGHLY Recommend them- I have had nothing but good experiences to report... for many years now : )

Although this was a big repair on my 20-year old Volvo, I appreciated getting specific details and explanations about what needed to be done and a loaner car. As usual service and info were great, including Oscar's going out of his way to bring to my home my driver's license which I forgot. I've been coming to Lusti Motors for years and will continue to do so. Friendly service and work you can trust.

I've been going to Lusti Motors for over 10 years now. I've purchased two cars there and had 4 cars serviced there. The sales and trade in experience was no pressure and a pure delight. Having my vehicles serviced there has also been a breeze. I highly recommend Lusti Motors and look forward to taking my Volvo in for service and my next trade in and purchase.

I purchased my Subaru at Lusti Motors in 2003 and have had all my major and minors auto repairs, excluding some oil changes, done in their Service Department.Lusti Motors has an extremely courteous staff. They keep me informed and updated on the progress of my car. I knew the estimate of the repairs and what needed done promptly and what would be needed on my next visit.My chief fear has always been that I would be overcharged or repairs suggested that did not need to be done. Not so with the crew at Lusti s. I feel confident and trust the process.

Went to Lusti Motors for the first time today - it was a great experience! Received greetings from everyone from the car wash guys to the salespeople. In the service department I was helped by Daniel who was very nice, polite and knowledgeable. I had a coupon for $50 for new customers which I had found on their website. They performed the oil change, washed the car and provided a safety check. They presented a short list of items they felt needed to be repaired/addressed. There was no hard sell on these additional suggested repairs and I appreciated that. I look forward to dealing with Lusti Motors for my future Mercedes repairs. Thanks for the friendly, cordial service!

My Jeep was leaking oil/running hot; Couldn't reach normal dealer so tried local company; Once I got there it was a $135 inspection charge ( less $50 new customer). Recommendations were nearly $2400 in work. I went to a different Jeep dealer and same work was about $1950, but discovered the coolant repair Lusti recommended wasn't needed, saving me $300. **I understand people miss thing, but once I took it to Jeep, I found out that Lusti failed to close the radiator fluid cap; Then I noticed the break fluid cap was off and Lusti have put in on the car hood area by the windshield wiper; What the heck? I"m driving around with missing fluid caps a trained mechanic that I'm paying for failed to put back on. I finally went back to Lusti and they said they're human / made a mistake; Misdiagnosing the coolant is one thing; returning my vehicle back to me as done and leaving coolant/fluid caps off is unacceptable. I'd asked for part of the diagnostic charge back since they blew it and they said no. I can't recommend Lusti as I don't trust them at this point. * * PS: If I'm paying $135 diagnostic charge to you then your customer expects that if they give you the business that should go towards it.Service: Vehicle Inspection

I have found through my personal experience that Lusti is, without any doubt, the best independent shop in San Diego to take my Volvo.I have used other shops, and paid perhaps a little less money; but have not enjoyed the satisfaction of having my Volvo serviced like they do at Lusti.

Overall I am very pleased with the service I received at Lusti motors and would recommend them. I only have one complaint. I understand that car maintenance is a dirty job, however, I am very picky about the cleanliness of my car and expect that precautions are taken to ensure that oily hands do not touch things like my steering wheel, etc. Obviously this can be achieved by the tech wearing fresh gloves or washing hands before maneuvering the car, or, having an employee move and test the car who is other than the primary mechanic. Ryan apologized that they did not have time to wash my car because of the late checkout time and offered that I bring it back for a wash, though I stated that the car was pretty clean and I thanked him anyway. Upon getting home, I realized there were plenty of oily handprints in numerous places on the exterior, and as my car interior is black, it is difficult to determine if the same lack of care was used when moving or test driving the car. I would say it is fair to reason that the oily evidence was on plenty of surfaces inside as well, and I spent considerable time detailing and cleaning any interior surface that may have oily residue. Generally I have not had this problem with other repair shops and will make it very clear when I return to Lusti motors my specific preferences.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning, Brakes, Oil change

Lusti Motors is the BEST!!! We've trusted Lusti for all of our automotive needs for several years, and are genuinely impressed by the level of service, detail and professionalism by the staff. Would highly recommend Lusti, especially for foreign auto service.
