My go to and only recommendation whenever there s any car trouble. Upon my first ever visit they were able to save my car when I thought it wouldn t be possible and I d have to sell it, 3 years later she s still going strong! Any problems then after George and his team have been able to fix quickly at great prices. George has even gone out of his way to personally drive me home and spare me the cost of an Uber. Can t recommend enough! Thank you, Hi Auto!

I ve gone her a few times and always received very good service at a reasonable price. When nothing was actually wrong twice, they didn t charge me. Very honest husband and wife running this shop. Highly recommend!

Received an email saying my previous review was viewed over 500 times so I needed to get on here to readdress since I can t edit my review apparently. This business used to have an honest owner (HI) who always was attentive, punctual, and communicative - now the new owner or FOH whatever he is (George) is the complete opposite. When I would show up and ask where the owner has been he would always make up some vacation story, clearly the business has been sold or turned over so why lie about it? The other review I left was 5 stars and I wish I could retract it - the radiator hose I thought he had fixed actually blew out not long after installing and now my engine has failed completely and the car is now a lemon. The only clientele this place has left are elderly and you can clearly tell they get priority for obvious reasons. If you want a real mechanic to fix your vehicle go to Costal Auto Repair in pacific beach.

The left ball joint on my 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck failed on a Friday afternoon back in early July. Fortunately, it occurred on a residential street at low speed. I had the truck towed to Hi's lot the next morning.By Tuesday, George had written up a quote that we agreed on. They replaced the ball joints, upper control arms, bearings and brakes (rotors & pads) on both front wheels, plus the sway bar and four new shocks for a little under $3200 (including tax). He even threw in an oil/filter change!I picked up the car the next day (Wednesday), and have driven it without issue since then.If you need to have a nice waiting room with house plants, big screen TV, clean restrooms, "technicians" in crisp uniforms, then go elsewhere. But if you want solid, competent service at a good price, and delivery when promised, then Hi Auto is your place!

Fair prices and amazing owner but 4 stars because this place is a serial battery murderer. Every time I drove by I had seen a car getting the battery charged and only after I dropped off my car to be fixed I come back to see my car getting the battery charged and was informed "there's something wrong with your battery". My battery was perfectly fine but the prices and mechanics are still best in town just factor in an extra battery charge.

5 star service as always from George and team. Brought in my car at noon and had it fixed by end of day. I ve been coming to this shop since I moved to San Diego. No bs or overselling. 10/10 recommend

I had my car towed here after it lost power on the Highway, because the AAA tech recommended them to me. I was charged for a diagnostic and then the mechanic Hai told me I needed a new starter. About $400 later ( parts/labor) he got my car to start again, but told me there was a problem with the engine (making clanging noise). He told me he didn't do engine repairs, so I had to get my car towed to another shop. Not the best experience, but cheaper labor cost than other mechanics. Probably best to go somewhere else for larger scale car problems, this place seems to only be good for small jobs.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection

I can't speak on the quality of the repair service but I can say I will not be coming back due to terrible customer service.My check engine light was on so I got the error code checked at valvoline for free, then brought my car to Hi Auto and showed them the error code related to my automatic transmission. They assured me they could perform the diagnostic within a 3-4 business days and would call me with an update.2 weeks later and I had to call them 3 times to get any updates, and they still couldn't tell me what was wrong. When I showed up, they showed me the same error code I originally showed them and told me I needed to take my car to the dealer because they couldn't get the part I needed. They still charged me $75 for the "diagnostic" which was the exact same code I already got for free.Service: Vehicle Inspection

I used to love this mechanic. He was fair, he was fast and his employees delivered. Recently they hired a new front of house. He was swarmy and kept talking about discount for things I would have paid full price for had he fixed my car. He kept my car for 5 days. Whenever I called to check in my car, he had no answer. He said he would call me back but didn t. I told him I was going to pick up my car and take it somewhere else. He quoted me 1795 to fix a problem he couldn t diagnose. I took it to another mechanic. They called within an hour, had it fixed for 267 and I picked it up same day.

I've rarely had good experiences with auto shops but I can't say good things about this place. I came in because my check engine light was on and I needed it to pass a smog test. Other shops charge over $100 to do a diagnostic test but I called Hi Auto and they offered to do it for only $65 so I immediately brought it in. Matt was very helpful taking the time to explain what each code meant and he was able to fix the issues without charging me a fortunate in parts in labor. I'm very pleased with their customer service and will definitely bring my car back here again in the future!

Hi The owners and head mechanic Is one of the nicest persons to deal with. He gives excellent service and is prices are more than fair. He has other mechanics that work for him that are very well trained. He will not sell you something that you don t need !!!!His wife speaks English well. She takes care of everything in the office. Bright my car in Monday and it was ready Tuesday afternoon. Good service. Fair labor rate of $75/hour. Some shops charge as much as $125/hour or more. Had preventative maintenance done. Oil change, new filter, new air filter, new fuel filter, transmission fluid flushed and added new fluid. Brake inspection, new spark plugs, tire pressure check and added air, prompt service and good value for all of the services.Services: Transmission, Brakes, Oil change

Hi and his team have taken such good care of me... sometimes I'm blown away with how well they run a repair shop. I have a 2002 Ford Focus and whenever something has gone wrong... Hi has provided top notch service at an extremely affordable price. I have checked out other low cost repair shops for work and Hi still beats all of their prices! Not to mention his work is solid... I'm yet to have an issue with any of his repairs. Talk to Matthew when you go in as he's always been a guy to be honest and straight forward with me and easy to communicate with. Thanks guys for all that you do!

I needed good Honda mechanics to service my Civic's issues without charging me an arm and a leg. And I got lucky happening upon Hi Auto Repair. Not only were they very good but in my opinion they were exceptionally economical as well. I think on many jobs they did for me they could have charged more but. I was just very happy that I found them.

I loved the service at Hi Auto Repair. I needed to find and build a long-term relationship with a local, honest auto repair shop. We only own one car. They were recommended to me when my husband and I moved here this month. It was important to us get to know the local businesses in the area. I had to get a smog check on my vehicle. It took about 10 minutes and they electronically notified the DMV for me. I would recommend them to family and friends.

All I can say is I m a loyal customer of Mr. Hi!I always feel like I m listened to when I go in, which is so important to me, as I ve been dismissed or talked down to by former mechanics. I may be a woman, but I m not stupid and I ve owned old cars all my life. I m currently driving a 2007 Ford Escape. Mr. Hi and the manager Matthew are very honest with me. They tell me what they can and can t do and give good advice for saving money and keeping the car running as long as possible.I send everyone I know here. I can t recommend this shop enough.

Second mechanic in town who said they didn't want to replace the catalytic converter in my daughter's car.If there are any other mechanics in town willing to take on the project let me know. We'll most likely do it ourselves.

Hi's Auto Repair was a breath of fresh air. I went to a few other shops one being suspension Plus and was given a very unreasonable quote. I took my F150 to Hi's and was greeted by Matthew. Matthew and another mechanic inspected my vehicle and found items that Suspension Plus had missed. I received a reasonable and fair quote from Matthew and am very thankful for Hi Auto Repairs team! Seeing as how I am not from the area, I decided to look online for an auto shop perhaps with good reviews. When I tell you how much I really love and respect Hi Auto Repair, it's uncanny. My mechanic was Matt and he was so knowledgeable about my car. I cannot thank him enough for his service and everyone with car issues should go to Hi Auto.

I have taken my cars to Hi for the better part of two decades. Hi Auto mechanics are reasonable, personable and honest and they spot automobile issues quickly. When I get a car, I will ask the mechanics at Hi if they can work on it -- such is my reliance on Hi Auto to keep me and my family on the road!

I've been going to Hi Auto Repair for a couple years now and Matt is forsure my permanent mechanic and one of the few people I trust to work on my car. I've had my fair share of car issues and Matt is always responsive via text or even phone call if needed. He always makes sure to explain to me exactly what's happening with my car in lamens terms so that I can understand what he's doing and why he's doing it. He's also great for general work on the car like oil changes and things like that. I live in OC and come home to SD for my car work so that should say enough! They also always get the work done in a timely manner, it's just a matter of what time you come in. So I would definitely recommend checking out Hi Auto Repair and working with Matt or Hi (the owner).

Had an issue and little time. Called Hi Auto they looked at my car and day. The problem was solved the car is running. Unlike other garages they don't try and milk you for money. This is the problem this is what we are going to do. If course they have me a heads up on other issues that may firm but did not push me to spend more cash that day.

I came in for a check engine light diagnostic. Hai said it would be a couple hours- no problem. 2.5 hours later he tells me they didn t do the diagnostic yet said he saw another problem and wanted to charge another diagnostic fee. I asked what happened to the first one. Long story short he didn t do anything.Waste time time!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic
