My first time as I m new to the area and was looking for a trustworthy service shop. Other customer reviews were encouraging. All staff was friendly, courteous and informative. Ian was a class act, did what was needed and advised why would be needed in the future and there was no gouging. Service was prompt. Definitely recommend as I m happy to have found local trustworthy business.

It s not often that you find a repair shop that is transparent and has integrity. Ian and the team at coastal auto embody those qualities. I ve had several repairs on my Jeep through out the past few years and they have always been very communicative and honest. They do what they can to help you save money and their costs are not out of reason. I always feel confident when I leave my car there that the work will be done well and corners won t be cut. A huge thank you to Ian and the team there for keeping me and my Jeep on the road!

Ian and his staff have outstanding knowledge, are very friendly, and will explain any detail or situation thoroughly and honestly. Brought in an older BMW in with a lot of issues and they worked through it easily to completely resolve all issues. Will certainly be returning for future service!

Efficient, friendly, and fair. Brought my Subaru in and they were able to replace both axles the same day giving me honest opinions on the different options. Ian was super pleasant and friendly. Just moved to the area and stoked to have found a mechanic I like and trust.

Ian and Kevin are outstanding. Very trustworthy family men who are also quite knowlegeable and experienced. Their pricing is reasonable and they are accommodating to your circumstances/needs. I would recommed Coastal Auto Repair to anyone with import cars or those who simply want someone they can trust

This place is a gem. I was going to take my jeep to the dealership. Wasn't greeted warmly and was misquoted. I found Coastal and was immediately impressed. Ian was very kind, professional and most of all HONEST. Communication was great and my jeep got fixed. Fair prices. Overall, I'm a very happy and satisfied customer!

Coastal has earned my business for life! Mossy Ford and Toyota completely gauged me on a spark plug repair, so I called Coastal for a second opinion. The same repair was half of what Mossy quoted me and they took a look at other parts that Mossy wanted to replace and discovered they were in perfectly fine condition. The guys are super nice, communicative and professional. Don t go anywhere else!

The Coastal Auto team is the best. I ve been coming to them since 2020. They re efficient, honest, and deliver great work. I brought my car in recently with water damage/flooding from the heavy rains and they identified the issue and fixed it. Then when it rained heavily again a week after, the problem came back and I took it back in. They fixed it again no problem and didn t charge me for any second round inspections/cleaning. I also feel comfortable coming here as a young woman knowing I won t get scammed. Highly recommend!

Ian is the best! I just moved down here recently and it s always hard trusting someone with your car but Ian and his team are the best! They always give it to you straight and don t try to over sell you on things you don t need. Quick turn around times even when they were extremely busy and was even a same day walk up! Can t thank him and his team enough for their service!

They had no issues troubleshooting and repair on my 2016 MINI COOPER. It was really a breeze getting the warranty processed for the costs involved too. This is located in PB and they are always low on space. Definitely recommend an appointment

Please read in its entirety:I have fortunately/unfortunately have had the pleasure and curse of owning a number of cars over the span of a few years. I ve taken my cars to countless shops for a variety of services. Some good experiences, while others have been poor.Let me tell you that Coastal Auto, will forever and always have my business and the business of anyone willing to listen to me.This is the first and only time that I genuinely felt like I was talking to an uncle about my car repairs, rather than some mechanic. Kevin and Ian who are the face of the operations at this astonishing shop and their expert team could not be anymore perfect at their jobs.They walked me through the entire process of my auto repairs, patiently and clearly articulated the entire process in a very simple to understand way. They gave me their full, undivided attention, ensuring that I knew exactly what it needed, what was recommended, and what was something to keep in mind. Never did I feel like they were trying upsell or run up my wallet since I m unfamiliar with cars. I trust them blindly to tell me exactly what should be done and the price they give.As long as I live in this city, this shop will be the only shop for me.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, Auto engine diagnostic, Wheel alignment

Took my car for oil change and check up and all good, quick and professional. Later that day, I took my wife's car in for the same thing - all good, plus Ian pointed out the tires needed rotating, which I remembered to be true. Courteous and professional - I'll be back! Did I say professional?

Thought my transmission was blown. Towed my car over to Coastal. Ian took care of it. It was just something loose with my power steering. Ian is very easy to work with and has high integrity. I will definitely be coming back.

I can t express my gratitude for Ian and his whole shop. They picked up my call early in the morning. Kept me updated on a plan, and it was such a relief to finally be told that they fixed it. I was hesitant taking my car in, but the staff was nothing but kind from start to finish. I hope I don t have to come in again. But in that chance that I do, I know it will be a good experience, yet again!

Another great job by coastal auto. Ian in the front was great. I needed breaks and rotors badly and the mechanics in the back knocked it out of the park. My company van now drives very smooth.

Ian and his team at Coastal are the absolute best. I've never had a better experience. They squeezed us in on a very busy day and the repair was very reasonably priced. They absolutely saved us from a nightmare, and I will be forever grateful. If I could give a higher rating than 5 stars I would.

I would give 10 stars if I could. We dropped our car off and it was serviced that day. Honest mechanic, fair pricing, great customer service. If you need a car mechanic in pacific beach, this is it!Just updating my review after multiple visits to Coastal Auto, and so happy to say that every time has been such a great experience. Let s start of with great honesty. This is a repair shop you can trust. They did not over charge or take advantage. They were able to diagnose my issue as well as inform me of another issue. They pin pointed it and showed it to me. I m a visual kind of person and they kept the old part to show me how worn out it was and thats a big deal to me to be informed of my truck. I want to give a big thank you to Ian one more time for his great attitude and attention to detail.

Great service. Had my car towed here after the transmission blew. Ian helped price out transmission repair options and help me make the best decision. They kept me very informed through the whole process and made the repair in good time. Everybody I interacted with here was very friendly and helpful. Awesome shop, they are extremely honest and helpful, they immediately noticed what was wrong with my car: another shop had screwed up when installing my coilovers, and not only did Coastal Auto Repair fix it quickly and cheaply, they also got the other shop to pay for it!
