I recently visited Brake Stop & Auto Repair in San Diego and was blown away by their exceptional service. The team there is not only highly skilled but also incredibly honest and transparent with their pricing. I felt completely taken care of, and their fair prices were a breath of fresh air. It's rare to find such good-hearted people in the auto repair business. Definitely the best auto repair shop in the area. Highly recommend! Ask for Rudy or Laith

Specifically reviewing U-Haul rental.We were greeted by the owner. Nice guy. The shop has a vintage americana feel. I liked it.There are several U-Haul s to choose from. But they do also carry U-Haul supplies as well.Take it slow and be careful on the exit.

Fast, friendly, clean, honest, and great prices. Walked in for a smog check and was in and out within 15 minutes with a total bill of only $28 while other shops were charging as much as double. The couch while I waited was super comfortable and what a nice touch that the service person leaves a sealed hand sanitizing wipe packet in the car for the customer to wipe the steering wheel etc. I will definitely be coming back for other auto needs.

Have been using Brake Stop for all my car needs for many, many years. Very knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. But the best part is the pricing. Wouldn't go any place else in San Diego.

Do not! I repeat do not go! Very unprofessional and bad work go to the auto shop next door to it before this one I changed a part out for no reason because I was told to by the guy that runs the front counter even tho they didn't fixed the issue of why it the engine shut off at slow speeds so at the end I went to a whole different shop in Poway they gave me the correct information and fixed my vehicle same day

My truck front brakes were in need of new pads, a new caliper and a new rotor along with a brake flush. Quote was over $1200. I decided that was a bit steep, so I opted to do it myself. Turns out it was under $300 for all of the parts (including a lift and tools) and all it took was a few hours following step-by-step guidance. I'm very glad I decided to do it on my own. Far too much for such an easy repair.

Very nice owners, called thurs, needed an alignment by Sat, got me in late fri afternoon, took care of my car, honored the $20 dollar coupon I had, got me going in an out 1- 1/2hrs. Friendly and reliable.

I just moved to San Diego from the east coast and needed a new mechanic. Finding good, honest people out here can be hard. I gave these guys a try and will be making them my go to for any services I need. They provided me with fast and efficient service at a fair price. Richard was awesome, gave me a great deal and took care of me very well. He was extremely polite and very professional. Richard was great. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The man did what he said and said what he did. He was very concerned with my vehicle and gave me good advice on what to do to keep my jeep running good. They're specialists delivered. I would highly recommend this place with the added value of having the nationwide warranty as well.

I was referred here by a friend to have my brakes and rotars replaced. I had the front set done first and then the back set a few months later. My steering wheel was vibrating when I pressed on the brakes after getting my service done and my brakes started squeaking. I returned to have them look at it and was told the first set was no longer under warranty and the second set had 2k miles left even though the problem was never fixed originally. Then I was pressured into getting the front brakes and rotars changed again. I said no and I just wanted the ones under warranty. I dropped off my car the day before my service to once again get the rotars and brakes fixed. The day of service I then received a phone call at 4pm to notify me they didnt have the parts in stock after having to rearrange my schedule and daughter's school schedule to get my brakes fixed. I spent $100 on an uber ride to get to work in Carlsbad and back to not have anything fixed on my car. I would not recommend this place and the person at the front was rude and not understanding or willing to help. I will not be back. I am taking my car to another brake shop to see if they even changed my rotars to begin with.Services: Brakes, Brake service & repair

Don't believe their over the phone estimate. When I asked why it cost $90 more than what I was told on the phone their response was "that was a phone estimate". So basically they lied. There was nothing different from what I asked on the phone to what they did to my car - new front brakes and rotors. I couldn't really walk away because they would charge me $95 for an "inspection" which would be waived if I they performed the repair.Can't trust this place.Do go here if you know what you want done.Update (Aug 2022) : 3 years and about 15,000 miles later and my brake pads and rotors need replaced again. How do pads wear out in 15,000 miles? Plus the pads didn't have sensors and I didn't know they were worn out until they started grinding my rotors. Cheap parts.I will never go to a brake stop again.

I think they are fair and honest. Richard and James are very nice and they take time to explain things. My car uses synthetic oil and they seem to be the least expensive around plus they usually have coupons in the monthly mailers. I highly recommend the Brake Stop on Aero Dr.

Good work and competitive pricing. However, the interaction felt like textbook scamming (coupon lure, small inspection fee included in price of service, "free" fixes leading to major repairs). The coupon price is a "bait & switch", wherein the actual cost of repair increases 3x to 4x after committing to an $80 inspection. The $120 coupon does not apply to one of the most common cars in America so that price wasn't honored (I'd like to see a list of qualifying cars). They performed a few "free" services worth about $25, but recommended at least $800 of repairs. I feel the total price of work I agreed to was fair, but the potential was much greater. I am unable to recommend this shop, unless you know what you need and get an estimate before committing. Use caution, they seemed to have perfected using a small cost to lead to larger costs.

I have used Brake Stop for my smog checks (and car repair needs) for the past 6 years. I started using them when my car was required to be checked by a Gold Star certified shop. They are reasonably priced and always friendly. On my most recent visit Freddy was able to quickly diagnose my "check engine light" problem and do the repairs required for my car to pass the smog check. Richard worked with me to keep the repairs within my price range by using a remanufactured part. I highly recommend Brake Stop on Aero Drive.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I looked at the 5 star reviews, and was convinced this was a trustworthy place to get my brakes done on my new Lexus. The gentlemen at the front desk charged me a $78.00 inspection, informed me I needed front and back rotors at a total of $961.00. I went somewhere else, they resurfaced my front rotors, the rear rotors were in need of replacement. I believe my new car, gave them the impression I had a lot of money. The total for front and rear was $537.00.Service: Brake service & repair

My booking was all screwed up. I was overcharged what I was quoted (~$800 instead of $650 ish. If taxes and fees add up to over $100, you should probably add that to your quote) then had $100 deposit also charged. I made calls specifically to ask if I had to make any deposit, and was told there was none. My receipt was via email so I was unaware of extra charges until I ran out of money 800 miles away. That confusion ended up leaving me stranded out of gas money until I could get help.

If you get a coupon from these guys just make sure it s valid for your car type. And don t bother coming in without calling, they say first come first serve but if you call they ll tell you they re busy that day and to not come then I called again the next day in the AM and they said to come the next day again. It s like they re lazy and don t want to stay on the phone long enough to actually help.

Richard was really helpful and worked with me on the price of what I needed done. Places were trying to overcharge me ($1,000 more) when Richard assured me everything would get done at a reasonable price. I m very grateful for him and his employees. One of my calipers were seized up and instead of just ordering the prt, they worked on it so I could save some money. I will be going to them for everything I need in the future. I m not sure where to start.I have a 1996 Toyota 4Runner that I Offroad pretty hard. I started to do my lower ball joints by myself. I had something come up that I needed to attend to right away.Being from out of town made it a little nerve racking since I don t have a mechanic here.I looked on here and read the reviews so I called.Richard was able to get me in within an hour (the time it took me to drive there).I had to leave then I received a call from Richard with a simple question.I knew closing time was soon so I decided to head over there. Richard and his staff were VERY professional, didn t rush just because it was closing time, showed me the work they performed (I knew what I was looking for and they hit the nail on the head).Being VERY last minute and not an easy job, the pricing was VERY fair.I can not recommend this shop enough! I m in town a lot and I m going to start doing all my maintenance with them rather than seeing a mechanic in Phoenix.10/5 stars if possible!

I m extremely skeptical about all auto repair shops, getting ripped off is something I can t afford - that s what I thought was happening when they found some issues with my rear brakes - however they provided pictures and explained to me what was going on in a way that made sense (leaking wheel cylinders, previous brake repair not done properly).I gave them the go-head - when I got my vehicle back the same day, the brakes behaved as promised - very responsive and no noise

Im from Texas so I wasn t too sure which auto shop I could trust to take my vehicle until I found this small little shop. This is my go to spot anytime I need something done with my car or my wife s car and we ve returned here several times since we moved to California. The service is great and it has a good family vibe as well. They fixed my wife s back wheel from a fault that the Dodge dealership couldn t fix! But Brake Stop was able to fixed things right up at a very affordable and reasonable price. DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone in San Diego area! Thanks my dudes!

Came here last year to get my throttle fixed. When I got the final bill there was a ton of random charges that they never told me about.Today, one year and 3 days later my car broke down in the middle of the highway. The EXACT same things they "fixed" are what caused it to stop in the middle of the morning traffic. Because it is not under their one year warranty, they could not help me without having to run a brand new diagnostics and charge me for the same part AGAIN.I now have to pay for another throttle that never should have broken twice in one year (my car has less than 50,000 miles).Would NEVER go here again if you value your car or your wallet.

Very friendly and customer service!! There was no wait and as soon as they found out what was wrong with my car they text me the full diagnostics test even though I just went in for my brakes. They took pictures of my brakes and rotors. Awesome work!! Great place and recommend it to anyone who is having problems with there vehicle.

I don't know about their brake service but don't go there for Uhual rental! Uhual equipment always has 24 hours period (checked with customer service, as well as my previous experiences), but THEY ARE DIFFERENT. Employee over there won't allow to return the truck next day and give me wrong information of whenever it's the second day there is a new charge. Speaking of new charge, he also select Safemove insurance FOR me, without even notifying me. That's not what I chose when I reserved it. And this place doesn't support mobile return. If they do, they failed again to inform customer and asked me to return before they close. Anyhow just avoid them for hassle free. Wasted my time to seek for customer service.

This was my first time visiting Brake Stop, and I was very pleased. Mr. Richard was very helpful, and the maintenance men finished the service in a timely manor.
