Amato's Auto Body recently exceeded all my expectations when I took in my cousin's Audi for repair. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly and professional atmosphere. Zane, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience.Zane's expertise and knowledge were evident as he expertly navigated the insurance process, keeping me informed every step of the way on repairs. His attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction were truly remarkable. The quality of the repair work was outstanding, and the car looked as good as new when I picked it up. Thank you for an outstanding experience!

I recently took my Tesla to Amato's Body Shop for body damage repairs, and the result was astounding. Their professionalism and expertise shone through, returning my car to its original, pristine condition. The quality of the repair was top-notch, with a perfect paint match and flawless bodywork. Additionally, their customer service was exceptional, making the entire process smooth and hassle-free. I highly recommend Amato's Body Shop for their outstanding workmanship and customer care. A truly 5-star experience!

I had a horrible experience. I had an appointment with Jesse for a quote on 3/20/24 at noon. He told me he would have the estimate to me within 2 hours.I called close to the end of day and spoke with an office staff person who said she would have him to send it before he leaves.I called the next day around 11:30am. Still could not reach Jesse or received the estimate. I was told by another staff person she would relay the message to him and have him send it by end of day.I called the following day to speak with Jesse because I still had not received a call or the estimate. I asked for a manager and was not given one, but was directed to Jesse. As I was on hold the recording of we provide high level customer satisfaction, our customers come first, we love going the extra mile played in the background.Jesse finally came to the line explaining he thought he sent it on 3/20, but, it was still sitting in his draft. This does not explain why I did get call back as he knew through the relayed messages to him I did not get it.He even tried to blame it on I wasn t receiving it. Which how would I if it was sitting in his draft. No apology! No accountability! No ownership! Just excuses and deflection. Finally got the estimate and it was $600 more than another shop I received an estimate from. Plus, he said it could be an additional $1000-$2000 if they cannot calibrate it there and have to take it to the dealer for calibration.I read some of the poor reviews on this site and others, and my experience was very similar. If this is what the service is like on the front end, I hate to imagine if I had actually decided to take my car there.I felt a responsibility to share my experience so others could be aware.

My Jaguar was broken into and sustained some minor damage: a small ding on the tailgate, interior damage to one seat, and a small tear on the ceiling lining. It took this auto body shop 4 months to make the repairs. Both the insurance company and I had to continuously follow up, and it was one excuse after another. Since my insurance only covered 30 days for a rental car, I was out of pocket for 3 months for a rental car. The entire repair cost was only $10, and it took that long. The company does not communicate well and is definitely disorganized. The shop runs poorly, and the clients end up being the losers. I strongly advise against taking your car to this shop. The experience was frustrating and costly, and the lack of professionalism and efficiency is unacceptable. No one should have to endure such poor service.

Amato's SUCKS! Do not bring your vehicle here. They are totally dysfunctional, especially Jesse, who was "mis"-handling my car. It took many months to get minor damage repaired. After I finally got the car back, the tailgate still did not work as designed. I called back and had to play chase with Jesse for over a week to try to get an appointment to get it fixed. They have now said they can get the car back in for another 20 days! Then, god only knows how long it will be stuck in the shop again. Go someplace else, trust me.

My experience trying to get my 2021 Audi A4 repaired at Amato's was so bad I feel obligated to warn others. My car needed a new rear quarter panel and a new rear bumper. Brooke and Jessica at Amato's told me they would order the parts and call me once they came in. In early June, they called me to make the appointment. I brought my car in on the date of my appointment, June 19th.Throughout the next month I called for updates. I spoke w/ employees Randy and Victor who both tried to assure me that everything was moving along smoothly. But there were red flags that something was not right. Them making multiple threats to have my car reassembled without any of the work being done being one of them.On July 28, I went to see my car in person. Victor drove me to the salvage lot. My car was parked in the back row, in the exact same condition as when I dropped it off, minus the layer of dirt now covering it. Victor tried to tell me my car was "the next in line to be disassembled", but by that point I'd heard enough of their lies. I asked him to please prepare whatever paperwork was needed as I would return on Monday to retrieve my car.On Monday I went to get my car. An employee working in the salvage lot was helpful and moved the car blocking my car so I could exit the lot. I asked if he could hose my car down so I could see out the windshields. He said he would but the main shop was where their car wash bay is. When I got to the main shop, Luis agreed to have his guys wash my car. That was done quickly and I asked for my car back. Luis refused to give me my key fob back. Him and Victor went back and forth about what they were going to do as they already accepted insurance payments. I told them this was not my problem and asked them for my key back many times. They kept walking away from me. I felt scared and began to reach out for help in retrieving my car. I called geico as well as 911. After 2 hours of this nonsense, a supervisor at Geico called Luis and said something to him that made him finally give me my car back. It still needs all the same auto body work as when I'd brought it in 6 weeks earlier, but at least it's not sitting in a parking lot being used as a pawn in insurance fraud anymore.

After 80 days (initial quote was 25), I finally have my 2018 Audi back. Horrible communication from start to finish. Early on it was a lack of communication, then was followed by weeks of misleading communication. Why did it take a month to tell me that a part was back ordered and the work hadn t even started? Why did I need to physically show up to the shop after 6 weeks to finally be given an update? Why was I never even offered a loaner car until this point? With Victor, he does everything he can to NOT communicate directly with his customers. Call the shop for an update? You re gonna speak with the receptionists who can t transfer you because he s always in a meeting or not around. Got a question? It s basically playing games of telephone. And every answer is something that they think you will want to hear, instead of just telling the truth. The last two weeks was basically it ll be ready tomorrow over and over. Finally, I called Audi to get an update directly from them because it was clear I was being misled about the status of my car.I don t blame the receptionists though because the guy in charge of the repairs should be the one answering the questions. I went to pick up my car and had several follow up questions based on info a receptionist gave me, and I couldn t get firm answers because apparently Victor did all the work but couldn t bother to be around to meet me when I picked up the car. The other guys there tried to help the best they could, but ultimately I left not even knowing if I need additional work on my car.Maybe they didn t care because I went through insurance? Maybe they treat their cash paying customers better? Whatever the case, honest communication is critical, and I would never take my car back to a shop that s so poor at it. I can t comment on the quality of the work because at this point I don t even know what s real and what s fake.

This shop is the best in San Diego. Their work is 10/10, their costumer service is 11/10. I don't usually give reviews for a job that got done, but this shop went above and beyond. Speed, communication, eqse of process, total costumer care. Paul Amato is a very humble man, very approachable. Shout out to Ms. Jessica for communicating all the time.

This has been the worst customer service experience in my life. I am taking the time to write down a review because it is INSANE how bad the service has been.My husband and I dropped off my car November 16th. A guy named Gilbert (apparently he no longer works there) received the car and told us the estimated process time would be 7-10 business days. I called 2 weeks later and a guy named Zach said their process normally takes 4-5 weeks and that the car would be ready by December 15th.I called December 15th and Zach told me they hadn t even opened the car to check what pieces they would need to order (what kind of procedure is that right? I called several times in the next weeks to see if they had ordered everything they needed. They did not. Days later he mentioned that they ordered the wrong pieces because the car was Mexican. It is a Volvo XC90 from Sweden. How different can it be? If it were different how could they not resolve it earlier?Every time I call they have me waiting about 15 minutes because they seem very very busy and apparently have other priorities. Today is January 17th. My husband called yesterday and Zach said the wrong pieces arrived.Every single time we call either they say the will return the call (they don t), or they make up some lame excuse about how they didn t notice X new issue, or didn t order the right pieces, etc.I have been telling them constantly I am about to deliver my baby and I need my car, but they don t seem to care. They haven t shown any single worry or preoccupation since we started the whole process.Up until this day January 17th. They still don t have an answer and I don t know when I am getting my car back. Not only Zach but the people we ve been talking to always make up excuses and say they don t really know what the problem is and that they are not fully aware. What kind of team work is that? What kind of process is this?????? These people are irresponsible.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I came to Amato s to fix collision work, glass, and a dent because they seemed reputable. It took them a few weeks to take my car in. Then it sat there for over a month. There were no communications, phone calls, or updates. When I called they said the car is ready (!) - when did they plan to tell me, who knows? Only one of the three things they committed to fixing was done. They blamed it on some staffing changes and that they person working on my car left. Not very empathetic.I took my car home and it s been a second month. Still no glass repair. I called and asked what the status is, and they gave me the number for safelite. My experience with them is that they re slow, rude, not empathetic, and don t do what they say they re going to do. Avoid Amato s unless you want to chase after them for months.

Why why why would you go anywhere else? Used multiples times and ALWAYS delighted with the results. This time a highly original 997.2 so very important to keep that way. This was a very small nit that perhaps no one - except myself and Mike would obsess over - but it was completely understood and the result perfect. Ah...

Jaguar recommended Amato s and it was the best thing they could have done. I also, researched and Renee (the rep at Amato s) had great reviews. Just so happen she was my rep too. She was very helpful and kept me in the loop during the entire process. Great service! Grade A+! I highly recommend Amato s!!!! A pic of before and after. The right is before and left after.Service: Body & Trim

My Tesla Model Y had a hit-and-run accident and repaired it well here for about 2 months. The repair of the exterior looks perfect. But as shown in the picture, the assembly of the driver's door is bad, so the cable is chewed like this. So the interior door popped out, causing interference with the dashboard. Isn't that a ridiculous assembly mistake? I can go back and get warranty service, but it's so annoying. I'm so disappointed. In addition, after the repair of my Tesla Model Y, I visited many times that were incorrectly repaired or not finished properly several times, and even received a Loner car to do warranty repairs for several days. It was disappointing why it couldn't be repaired properly in the first place and doesn't say sorry to me at all. This process was terrifying for me and my family. If you're looking for a body shop to fix your Tesla after an car accident, I strongly recommend going elsewhere.Services: Painting, Body & Trim

they gave me an estimate of 3 weeks to get my car done, its going on 40 days , im out of rental car and randy doesn't sound to eager to go the extra mile to get it done because his detail team are too excited to get in to Holliday mode and they want to go home early eventhough my car was suppose to be ready today. no urgency shown to get my car done after I explain I no longer have a rental because insurance only covers 30 days, but I guess he doest care, that was his attitude towards my car.Service: Painting

I'll start by saying I'm VERY picky. I work in the auto industry and also consider myself to be a perfectionist. When my car was hit I called around premium San Diego area dealerships and found Amato's was clearly considered the best, which led me to doing business with them.Every step of the transaction was fantastic; they are a well-oiled machine, a really impressive operation. Communication was friendly, informative, frequent and precise, repair time was reasonable, price was reasonable, and the interaction was a complete pleasure. They ended up repainting the car (which is a very complex pearl white) and with an extremely well-trained eye I cannot find any evidence the car was in a collision or repainted.Everything was so fantastic I felt I owe it to them to share my experience.

Amato s is great! They do great work and have awesome customer service. I have a Tesla model 3 that was hit while parked. I quickly learned San Diego has limited body shops that can work with Tesla s. Amato s came out as the top recommendation, and I can see why!As stressful as it is to deal with insurance companies and car repairs, the least stressful of everything was working with Amato s. Everything they did for me felt Easy- dropping off the car, calling for a pick up from the rental company, picking up my car, returning the rental for me, and dealing with insurance payment for repairs. If there was anything enjoyable about this whole process, it was working with Amato s. Their customer service and repair work is excellent! When I got my car back, it looked like new and everything worked smoothly. They definitely are experienced with working with Tesla s! A big perk was how clean my interior looked when I got the car back. It looked like new!! This was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. I definitely recommend Amato s if you re in need of an excellent body repair shop!

My review about Amato's Auto Body's customer service, lifetime warranty, and overall ethics.Over the years, Amato's Auto a Body shop has performed minor cosmetic repairs to my Audi and Mercedes Benz. I've interacted with their administrative staff, their refinishing team, and owner. My experience with Amato's Auto Body was positive, until a repair they performed to my Mercedes Benz presented issues, and I inquired with Brian White about scheduling an appointment to review my concern and warranty on their work. The call to Brian was not well received. He quickly dismissed me, then called back a few minutes later to apologize for his rude behavior, justifying his attitude by feelings of frustration towards my vehicle, and blaming Mercedes Benz for the issue. He assured me that he would follow up, and never contacted me again. My experience with Brian White, and vehicle concern were brought up to Amato's Auto Body's owner, Paul Amato. He took my call, listened to my concern, put me on hold, and came back with a conclusion that Brian had "googled" my concern, and redirected me to the manufacturer and dealership.A google search, such as the one Paul Amato cited, is no way to diagnose a vehicle, but it is the excuse Amato's Auto Body gave me to not follow through on their warranty commitment, and to blame others for an issue with a part of the vehicle only they have worked on.Amato's Auto Body advertises its certifications and training to repair high end vehicles. However, my experience has been that they do not share the same standards and values as those companies that they intend to associate with.To this day, Amato's Auto Body has not thoroughly evaluated the concerns of the repair work to my Mercedes Benz. A job that was handsomely charged for, performed poorly, and never rectified, even though they were given every opportunity.Service: Body & Trim

I cannot recommend Amato's auto body more. The staff were all incredibly helpful, upfront, and professional throughout the entire process of getting my Tesla fixed. I worked primarily with Renee, and I was consistently impressed with the frequent updates and forward leaning attitude she had. The rest of the staff also maintained the same high level of professionalism. I have never had as good an auto repair experience!Service: Body & Trim

100% recommend this shop. The entire team is very responsive, courteous, and professional. (I worked with Ariel and she was fantastic). Although the repair took a little longer than what I expected, when I picked up my vehicle, it was in better condition than what I had it before. They also offered a loaner car throughout the duration of the repair.Impressed with not only the collision repair but also the detailing of the car and the service. Best body shop in SD hands down!

All in all, amatos is a great body shop. I took my car in to get the bumper fixed, and interestingly the owner was there to personally greet me. While the car was in the shop, they worked with my insurance company seamlessly. The work that was done to the car was excellent and meticulously done. Because my repair took a little longer than I expected and I didn't have a car, the manager offered me a rental at no additional charge for the few extra days it took to finish the work. It was very much appreciated. There is a reason why they are the best body shop in San Diego. Great customer service and excellent work.

I wish I could give them 0 stars for poor customer service and gouging, so take this as a begrudging 1 star. My wife and I brought our Tesla Model 3 for an estimate because we had scratched the side of the car in the back. Fixing this would require changing a whole panel. We talked to someone at Amato's and told them our insurer was Liberty Mutual. They said that was OK and that the estimate was $13,000. We started the process with the insurance, which took a couple of weeks, and then called Amato's to make an appointment to drop the car off. That's when they told us they didn't work with Liberty Mutual (?). We started looking for body shops again and ended up taking the car to All American Paint & Body. They did a great job for $3,000, less than a quarter of what Amato had quoted us. Stay clear of this place.

Amato's raises the bar when it comes to customer service, Professionalism and work Quality. To say they roll out the red carpet is an understatement. I got my Tesla back in better condition than it was new! Mike and Renee were awesome! I Highly recommend!

Amato's Auto Body always treats my car so well, and she always comes back looking (and feeling) like New! I've had to bring in my Tesla Model 3 twice so far, and I can't recommend them highly enough. The intake process is smooth and easy, and no issues working with insurance. Renee actually remembered me the second time I came in, and kept me updated on the process. They are at times busy, and can be higher price, but totally worth it. They also offer incentives to repeat customers. Going there actually feels like Christmas! Thank you, guys!!

This shop was as professional and thorough with me as any customer could hope. It took a while to get on their schedule, because they are busy, but you will see why when you get you car back. They were so thorough throughout the process and communicated everything in a timely manner. Thank you for returning my Audi to its former glory and making the whole experience so painless.

Outstanding. I was referred to them by George at the Audi dealership who I trust implicitly. He raved about Amato's and they not only measured up but exceeded expectations. The work they did was amazing. The customer service off the charts. Every single person I dealt with was so friendly and helpful. What I like most is they updated me every couple of days to let me know if they were on target to get the car done on time. One of the best small businesses I have dealt with since moving to San Diego. I would rate them 10 stars if I could.

If there is such a thing as being a raving fan of a body shop, I would be it. I was consistently impressed with their level of service, as well as their quality of work. They provided consistent updates so I never had to wonder about the status or timeline of the repairs, and every step was completed on or ahead of schedule. They went above & beyond in so many small yet unexpected ways, and my entire car came back detailed so it literally looked better than it did before my accident. While I hope I never have need for their services again, I would 100% refer them to anyone who does!Services: Tires, Steering & suspension repair, Painting, Body & Trim

Amato s is amazing!! My girl, Ariel, was on top of it and always keeping me updated on the status of my car. The repairs they did look so great, it looks brand new and they also cleaned it!!It was also during COVID-19 so they took all precautions for me as well! No interactions, paid over the phone and they wiped down all the surfaces. I felt safe and I definitely will recommend them to whoever needs a future car repair! Thanks again for everything Amato s!

Very thorough and meticulous. Great customer service as well from Renee and Mike. Only minor problem we had was the estimated completion date being a little off but for the amount of work that needed to be done, we were fine with it if it meant the car being fixed properly with no shortcuts.
