Akon auto center really took care of my Land Rover! My car was leaking coolant amongst other fixes it needed and the Land Rover dealership couldn t schedule me out for another two weeks (my car is my baby and I didn t want to risk driving around like that and ruining it further!) LR also told me the warranty had expired and i would have to pay out of pocket for all of the repairs. I called akon since they are just down the street from the dealership and they were able to see me same-day! Through them, I found out my extended warranty covered the repairs that were going to cost me thousands at the dealership ( they went the extra mile and even called the dealership to make see how much my extended warranty covered.) These guys are the BEST! They picked up (towed for no charge) my car this morning at 8:00 from another mechanic in Encinitas, who had quoted me THREE TIMES the price that Akon gave me. I need a full engine swap. They sent me this picture (engine already out) at 12:00. I'm so, so, so grateful to these guys. I've been several months without a car now, trying to save the money to fix it. Akon made it happen today! Thank you so much!!!

Went in for a smog check, tried to upsell me saying they had to fix my coolant before it could be smog checked. I changed the coolant 15k miles ago, drive the car daily (including a recent two hour drive) and have no problems with overheating. Go somewhere honest.

Niece took the car in, they charged for 'Complete Brake Inspection' she drove home and car was making noise. Brakes had been done by someone else, so she took this place to inspect. They charged her $79.20, but didn't look like they even did anything because she drove to my house with the noise. I was concerned, so I checked and saw that hardware was missing in one wheel, another was loose causing the noise (I have pictures). I fixed it for her due to not wanting her to drive an unsafe vehicle. The shop should have caught this and not let her drive off with unsafe brakes. I called the shop, the guy was rude and said they did find the hardware loose and that it should of been taken back to them if it wasn't done right. I told them it was unsafe and they should of taken care of it if they actually did the 'Complete Brake' inspection. He even told me that if I wanted the number he will give it to me to report him, sarcastically.I will report this to BAR, and hopefully they will revoke his ARD license. They shouldn't work on cars and release them if it is unsafe. Everyone should avoid this shop, will scam you.

Service was quick and relatively friendly.-1 star because their website is misleading. When visiting their website, their tab title is "$29.95 Smog Check Coupons - San Diego STAR Station" and there are advertisements everywhere for this $29.95 deal, and it isn't until you zoom into the fine print that you see it's only for compact cars. It cost me $58 for a larger car.-1 star because their service disposition was false. After giving me the smog check results, they told me my brake pads needed to be replaced. I declined this service. I went to my car's dealer a few days later for service, and asked them to inspect the brakes - they reported the brakes were doing great, and the brake pads did not need to be replaced. So, it was clear Akon was just trying to squeeze more money out of me.Service: Smog certification

I used this facility before in May. One of the nut from the bumper was fallen off and they replaced it with a different nut. Paid about 80$. But went again for synthetic oil change. The price quoted was 59$ for oil change. Air filter and cabin filter was changed too because they were dirty.Ended up paying 235$ for oil change and filters. When I argued the price the guy incharge even told me that the people from my country think everything is free in US.Would not recommend this facility at all.Total rip off.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Oil change

Go somewhere else. Crazy pricing. Went in for a smog check. Had to replace battery and terminals which somehow came out to upwards of $600. Of course, partially my fault as I know nothing about pricing. But expensive pricing: $312 for battery, $176 for battery terminal replacement.......the smog check was the only thing fairly priced. Everyone there was very pleasant but still feel duped.Services: Smog certification, Battery

Smog Check.I go there every 2 years to have my Honda smog checked. Can walk in and get service or make appointment. Fast friendly service. Just noticed this last visit that they do other things besides smog check, will consider for next service!

In website cost shows $32, but they charged $58, When asked why more is charged , they say you should have shown the website details in the beginning. As they cheat they did not provide any estimate in the beginning.At the end of service they provide both invoice and estimate together for sign and estimate then mention $58. What a cheap way of drawing more money from customers.Service: Smog certification

No issue with service but agree on the dishonest pricing. I called and confirmed pricing prior to taking my car into the shop. The confirmed that it would be $94 to get my oil changed and smog checked. When I got there, they refused to honor the price, and I ended up paying $118. If you call ahead be sure to get the name, number and total that was agreed to all documented prior to showing up.

I have been taking my cars for everything to this place for the last 15 years. I consider myself to be fortunate to find an auto shop that is honest and always delivers what they promise. Through the years they worked on all aspects of my cars at a reasonable price and most of all they provided detailed information on work done and with guarantee provided. That is what I call providing aservice with full integrity.

I came to get a smog check at 4:30pm, hours of operation still stated till 5pm. I was turned away to come back because of the pandemic. Okay, understandable, I should have called ahead, that was my mistake. Before I left I asked to get an appointment next day so I can get in N out, guy said okay, 8am, and didn t write it down. F. Y. I. Coupon they offer is strictly detailed and for ALREADY CALI registered vehicles only. With that said, please read the coupon correctly, if you have out of state, you will be charged +$10 of coupon,this is not stated on the coupon. Anyways, Im not bashing this establishment, I suggest they get all the information a customer needs available before they visit = less contact = social distancing.So as I left, sighed, looked over to my left, saw a shop and busted a U-Weeee, and was taken care of immediately with no hesitation and accepted their coupon as is. I do understand shops do not make much money doing smog inspections because they cant charge labor. I don t understand when they turn away potential business because of it.

One of the biggest lie I heard from the guy who had glasses on the desk was...when I asked him if he ran pre smog test before the actual smog test.. He said" No we don't ran pre-smog test and NO ONE IN Cali. DOSE IT". Which is not true a honest and professional smog test guy do it out of courtesy.Price the had it on Google $29.99 all 2000 and newer cars in the fine print you'll see compact cars so...since I was already there the guy said "your price would be $49 for a mid size sedan car....DuhhhhhhI just took my paper and left and could NOT Trust THESE PPL.

Seriously this is scam make sure when you call ask them if their coupons are accurate. I drive from Del mar to hear for the coupon price they have on their website and then they tell you for SUV coupons doesn't count, are you kidding me never heard that before stop lying to people bring em contour store and tell em different things, sorry you lost not one customers but many others as well.

I have been taking my cars to Eric at Akon for over 6 years. I am always impressed with their efficiency and the reasonable cost of repairs and maintenance. I highly recommend Akon Auto Center for all your car s needs.

Eric took $180 to diagnose my my '95 jeep wrangler and said I needed a new head gasket in order to pass smog. He wanted $1700, so I spent 5 hours and did it myself and brought it back in to test. He then said that I needed to replace the radiator in order to pass smog, I said what? How does the radiator have anything to do with the smog? he said that it was old and would not run the test without a new radiator. I asked him to give me a price to replace the radiator and he said that he would not do it. So I put a new radiator in and brought it back for the smog test. I had to drop off the vehicle multiple times because he said that his machine was not functioning. Finally he ran the test and said that the 15 mi/hr emissions were too high. He refused to make any diagnonis or work on the vehicle any further citing the fact that I worked on the vehicle and that he couldn't warranty the work. He charged me $70 for the test. Now I have to start over and find a shop to diagnose and repair, which is a big problem according to state regulations. This guy and this place are crooks, and are abusing the state smog laws to ripoff the public. The original mechanics that recommended them said that they also have had similar problems with this guy and no longer recommend him.

Went here for a smog test on 01 4Runner that has aftermarket intake and cat, all 50 state legal carb except products for CA. Knowing that all my monitor sensors were set, I thought it would be simple hook up the computer check my monitors and I d be done but hour and half into waiting I am presented my gas cap along with a new one and the tech says I m going to have to replace it for a visual failure. My car was fine and would of passed now without the new gas cap. I now have to pay an extra 20$ for something I don t even need just cause it looks old. Luckily it passed, but sadly 2 days later check engine light comes on and it s an EVAP issue which can be caused by the gas cap. So this new gas cap is causing me a code to which I never had before they changed the gas cap. I feel like something fishy was done to either make it not pass or to have me come back when something goes wrong shortly after I leave. All in all I had a horrible experience wasted my time and money and will never go back to this place and would never recommend they slimy service. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Never had any issues with my car. Never had any problems passing an inspection with anything, never had any mechanical or electrical issues with my car. The first time I take my car for a smog inspection in California these guys did it and right afterwards my A/C stopped magically working. There is no possible way that happened out of my negligence for my car

I never had a car smog-checked that failed, but because I unhooked my battery since my car wasn t being driven for weeks at a time since buying a new car, my older car failed the smog test. My advice: Do not get your smog check if you ve recently replaced or removed your battery. Drive it around for a week or so after replacing battery. I recommend going to a pass or don t pay smog check, instead of being charged for a failed smog check only to have to pay again. Besides, what it if it failed again? This place would definitly keep charging over and over again. This is a huge ripoff!

Watch out...bait and switch!!Coupon says 29.95 for smog but when I got there they said $10.00 extra because I drive a "SUV"!! Go anywhere else but here. After they lie in to your face would you really trust them to run a legit test and then tell you they need to repair it? What a joke!! To many other honest places to go. Bye bye!!
