Before making a major move across the country I brought my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 in for routine maintenance and an overall "get it ready to haul a trailer for a few thousand miles" inspection. Scott and his team did not disappoint. They found and repaired several potentially catastrophic mechanical issues with my truck and gave me good insight into the inner workings of some long standing issues I've had with oil consumption, etc. Even after departing the shop and starting on our road trip, where we experienced another minor setback, Scott was patient and willing to answer questions and provide recommendations over the phone. Overall very impressed with the shop and it's crew.

I've lived in the Little Italy/Columbia district area for almost 10 years and have always been curious about "A" Street Auto Service, which is just two blocks away from me. After frustration with my former auto repair shop, whom I had been a loyal customer, I decided to give A Street Auto Service a try due to their reputation and constant business. My previous repair shop always seemed to find additional issues with my car, leading to unexpected expenses. This frustration peaked when I paid almost $1000 for a checkup before a trip to Arizona, only to have my battery die the next day. It became clear that my previous shop wasn't thorough in their inspections.Feeling uncertain about my car's reliability, I had initially planned to have a friend's mechanic in South County check it out. However, due to a strong smell of burning oil, I decided to call "A" Street Auto Service instead. I dropped off my car in the morning, received a diagnosis by the afternoon, (remove and replace the brake vacuum pump) and approved the necessary repairs. They even recommended a cooling system power flush to resolve an issue caused by a previous top-off of the coolant. The service was completed promptly, and my car was running smoothly without any lingering odors.I was pleasantly surprised when the final cost was $100 less than the quoted price since they had the required part in stock. Not only did I notice a significant improvement in my car's performance, but I also appreciated the friendly and professional service from Sean. Unlike my previous shop, I didn't feel pressured into unnecessary upsells.Being a family-owned business with a longstanding presence in the community, "A" Street Auto Service has gained my trust. I regret not trying them out sooner due to my loyalty to my previous shop. As someone who has been taken advantage of in the past, finding a reliable auto repair shop is essential. I'm relieved to have found "A" Street Auto Service, a place I can trust and conveniently drop off my car. I'm so confident in their service that I even recommended them to a friend who used to go to my old shop. I highly recommend "A" Street Auto Service and will continue to be a loyal customer as long as they maintain their exceptional service.

Sean and his team are GREAT. Have 2005 Highlander in need of a new radiator. Dealer price was OUTRAGEOUS! Did a google search and picked A Street.. Dropped my car off at 8 AM was ready by noon!! Been a couple weeks since the install and happy with my new Denso radiator! Good people and good price!!

I few years back i brought my jeep into A Street Auto. They are an honest family owned business that are very knowledgeable. With Scott's expertise and assistance I turned my jeep from a mall crawler to rock crawler. I had my entire jeep upgraded from a lift kit, control arms, body armor, custom fenders, custom gas tank, custom lights, new roll cage, new cooling system, seats at A Street Auto. This will be my body for the rest of my life. I highly recommend.

I brought my car because of a rattling noise and because the engine was consuming oil. I told them this on the phone and in person. They charged me near a thousand dollars and said their work would fix these issues. Neither issue was fixed and they claimed I never told them about the oil consumption issue, despite that being the original issue of why I brought my car in. I asked for a refund and they refused and told me I would have to pay more money to get the issue fixed. They took near a thousand dollars from me and my car is not better at all. This is a dishonest way of conducting business.

Sean was so kind and informative. My car got done at an appropriate time (a little over a day) I was able to also get a loaner car for a day which was so helpful. I had to change my brakes and rotors. The cost was about 2k I do drive a Jeep wrangle and did need one new tire also. They gave me a solid quote with all the things I needed like break fluid, balancing etc etc was on the quote with all of the cost and labor on it. I felt comfortable with the prices. Good shops with good prices are hard to find. I will be returning because the trust is absolutely there!

My driving belt blew and broke my water pump and sensor. I had to get a tow there as my car was undriveable. Sean and his team diagnosed quickly and updated me throughout the whole process. Very happy with his communication. I felt like they took great care of my car and didnt try to upsell me on anything. I drove off happily and everything has been good since.

Amazing communication the whole time they had our car, I never felt like I was getting scammed in anyway. They fixed what was wrong and was decently priced. We will continue to use A Street auto in the future.

Story begins with a flat tire. Not any ordinary flat tire. We foreign object on the road that resulted in total damage of the tire plus the wheel. A street auto team tried to repair the wheel, but due to safety reasons, they couldn t patch it. Regardless, Scott worked diligently in trying to acquire a used wheel, but no luck. He ended up purchasing a new wheel and got two fresh tires within my budget. I dropped off my car in the AM, they got it fixed and detailed by 6pm. Really, a great team to work with and they kept in touch with me throughout the day. I highly recommend this place!

Great team and attention given to a tough situation. A followup fix was needed after a repair that wasn t fully examined and failed 10 miles down the road. Luckily it left me a couple blocks from A Street who fixed my issue and got me back in the road. Check these guys out. No matter the fix they will do it right the first time. Thanks!!

I service my German and British cars here and have been extremely satisfied with their work and service. An honest and transparent team that does a great job of explaining issues, setting expectations clearly, and finishing the job in a timely manner.

Terrific humans! They go above and beyond for their customers. Treated me like family and were always friendly and attentive, even though I could tell the shop was super busy. I needed a quick oil change, inspection and new tires and they handled everything in such a thoughtful and caring manner. I had a specific request for all-terrain tires and they came back to me with handy recommendations and research. Loved their input and am super happy with my new wheels as I travel full time in my RAV4. going back to A Street when I m back in town. Thank you, Scott and team.

Absolutely phenomenal. Remembered these guys from years ago when my car had to get towed and the tow guy recommended them as cheap & effective; when my car had to go through extensive body repair (an act of god blew a lamp down on the trunk), I knew where to bring it.Not only did they keep me constantly updated on progress with the insurance estimate (a nightmare), they ended up saving me money on parts, catching a separate repair that needed to be fixed urgently, and negotiated with the insurance company for a replacement of my badly-damaged quarter panel (which wasn't going to be covered initially).They give your car a full detail, top up air and fluids, it's just the way it should be.Everyone here is awesome, good people, and I'm so glad to know they're around for my car needs!Services: Painting, General repairs & maintenance

This place is absolutely Awesome. I was in San Diego on vacation and one of my coolant hoses and pipes went bad. They were extremely busy (as you can see in the pictures) routing customers to other shops by phone but still took the time to help me. The owner, Scott said he built his business by helping people in need. My wife had an important meeting that day and because of their help we were able to make. JR is awesome he has been working there for a while. We need more people and shops like this in our world.

Scott and his team at A-Street are honest, hard-working, respectful and very communicative. Scott truly believes in the "customer comes first" adage. He has been in the business for over 40 years, and his experience shows. His expertise helped me and my family with our vehicles many times over the years. Scott believes in helping people with their vehicles, keeping their families safe and secure, and he will always communicate the options with you. Scott works hard on the vehicles that comes through his shop, and works just as hard making sure the people who own those vehicles leave satisfied with his stellar service. Incredible service, can't recommend enough. Had a problem with my exhaust that was quoted at $1800 to completely replace it at another nearby place. Instead of telling me I need to pay the $1800, they fixed my exhaust issue for an hour worth of labor. Front desk staff was friendly, and they walked me through the whole issue and showed me pictures when I got in. I was visiting San Diego when my car decided to drop its plastic spoiler on the bumpy SD freeway! I checked Yelp for auto repair shops in the area and found A Street Auto. What a fantastic experience! Scott and his crew ordered the part right away and had me back on the road in no time. I was very pleased with the professionalism, price, and timeliness! I recently purchased my first car from a faraway dealership (and made the incredible mistake of not having A Street inspect it before purchase). However, I was lucky enough to go in the following day for a second opinion. I ll add that they were the only mechanic that would take a same-day appointment.Unfortunately, the car had a couple of flaws. Had I not brought the car in to A Street, I would ve faced some major problems down the road. The car purchase posed some legality issues and Scott coached me through how to approach it with the dealership. Additionally, he went above and beyond by giving me after-market warranty options, legitimate dealership contacts, and more. The car s exhaust piece was cracked (with a hefty $1,800 quote) but Scott and his team were able to weld together the piece flawlessly so I wouldn t shell out unnecessary cash.I m only thankful for the stressful situation because Scott and his team backed me up all the way and made the car good as new. I will only be bringing my car to A Street from now on, knowing my vehicle is in good hands. Forever grateful to you guys!P.s. When I was waiting on the repair, another stressed out couple came in with a damaged vehicle and a party to catch. I overheard Scott arranging a rental car service so they could make their event while their car was in repair. Hands down the BEST mechanic I have ever been to. Scott was super helpful. I explained my situation and he told me to go buy a gas cap instead of trying to waste both my time and money. He told me to come back after I got the gas cap to make sure that is what was causing me to fail the smog test and sure enough, I passed. It has been a long time since I have met a mechanic who is honest and truly looks out for their clients than the mechanics at "A Street Auto". I will refer all of my friends there whenever they need any work done on their cars and I would recommend you do the same.Services: Smog certification, Emissions testing

Scott and the team at A Street Auto are incredible. No one likes going to auto body shops, and there's a reputation that you will get overcharged for labor. That couldn't be further from the truth with this business.I got an oil change and car detail that left my car looking AMAZING. Scott pointed out some additional work that needed to be looked at, and gave me very fair prices. If there's one auto body place you should go to in San Diego, it's A Street Auto.Services: Body & Trim, Auto detailing, Auto interior vacuuming, Oil change

I had recently moved into town and didn t have a mechanic, so I called the day beforehand and was able to get my brakes fixed the following Saturday morning as a new customer. My brakes were at the very end of their shelf life so I was very relieved I was able to get this issue fixed on such short notice. Good work, fair price, great service, will be coming back here for my other car needs.

Let's see. 120 reviews and a 4.8 rating Any knucklehead should know that says it all--particularly for a car shop. Care to be further indulged? Read on:I have known and used Scott, his son Chris and the boys at A-Street for about a decade + for both of my cars. They like what they do and they like to see happy clients. They show you the part that broke, or show you where and why something needs to be worked on. They are patient, courteous, talk to your level and always, always are straight with you--even if it financially painful. I can't remember ANY time I didn't walk away feeling I got taken advantage of--and Scott, if your reading this, feel free to look up the number of times I've come in.Bottom line: A-Street is trustworthy and do excellent work. You're a fool if you don't give them a chance to work on your car and see for yourself...

I just want to say that I was getting to the point of almost selling my car because I didn't want to struggle with it. Then a friend told me about A street auto service, I looked them up on the internet, I called that day and talked to Scott. Just talking to him about my car and what was wrong with it I felt relieved and he made me feel good about it. So I took the car without hesitation best decision ever made. I am so happy and Scott and his team made me feel like family like if I known him forever. I will definitely recommend A street service to anyone and definitely I would now take all my cars there. The owner Scott and his team have been very good to my car over several years. I don t have much mileage but is still an older car that dries as if new! Next Scott and his staff at A Street Auto will guide my Chrysler Sebring to body work and new paint! I had a great experience coming here, both in the service provided and the of the employees. I m not from the area and had luckily happen to had just parked across the street when my truck started to overheat. Being 3-4 hrs away from home, I was definitely in need of some assistance and stopped in really quick to see if I could get some help. Scott and his team were extremely helpful and friendly. Not only did they help me out with what I needed to be able to get back home, but they also gave me useful information to take with me about what other work I may need to get done to keep my truck in good condition. If I lived closer I d definitely be coming here for all my vehicle needs, and if I m ever in the area again and need some work done again, I wouldn t even have to search for another place, hands down best mechanic experience I ve ever had.Service: General repairs & maintenance

This place saved me a bunch of money! The dealership told me I needed to replace my entire brake light assembly ($300+ to fix). They said it was melted and they couldn t put in a new bulb. Took the car here because they quoted me a better price for the repair. Chris decided to double check the problem before changing out the whole assembly and he saw that nothing was melted and it just needed a new brake light bulb put in which they only charged me $35 to do. They could have easily pulled one over on me but they are honest and professional and have integrity (plus they are really nice, too). This place is awesome!
