I brought it my 98 Ram 1500 for a new transmission rebuild. I ended up getting a lot more than that. My truck got a new alternator, tension pulley, brakes, shocks, tune-up, oil change. I really like that it s a one-stop shop and that the owner, Tony, is very hands on and communicative with the customer. As a business owner, I understand the importance of providing a great service and Monterey transmission does just that.

The guys over at Monterey Transmission are the real deal! They build all kind of transmissions from stock to wild drag racing transmission. It was extremely hard to find a reliable shop that would build my 1000hp corvette a transmission capable of holding the power, but the guys at Monterey transmission were able to figure out my prior issues and get me going with all the upgrades needed. These guy are super knowledgeable and customer focus!! They have gone above and beyond my expectations and I m confident they will exceed your expectations as well. After days of headaches trying to find a mechanic who could solve my transmission problem I was reffered to Monterey transmission -the crew was profesional, and provided me with legendary customer service . Tony and his dad at Monterey Transmission did a great job on my transmission upgrade and axle rebuild. The attention to detail they provided was exactly what I was looking for on my custom truck. They are currently rebuilding my Dana 44 axle with all new parts. I am eagerly waiting to see it finished as the 12 bolt rear end, 700r4 transmission rebuild and transfer case I have received are exceptional.They are very knowledgeable and fairly priced. Last year they were recommendedto replace my transmission on my 2003 Yukon Denali XL... Their whole work was and is great! ...They have a great team of mechanics and Great Customer Service! They are on top of it as if the autos are their own. Even though I live 45 minutes away, I have also returned back again to trust them with my Denali for a different situation....They the best in Salinas, Ca.

Amazing service! I went to get my brakes done, and they told me I didn t need my front brakes done, only the back brakes. I feel like most auto shops wouldn t tell me that and they would charge me for it instead. These guys I can actually trust! So happy I found this auto shop. Thank you!

They saved me money and great Transmission work! The dealership wanted over $7,000 for a transmission for my Chevrolet Tahoe and Monterey Transmission was affordable with interest free financing available too! I came back and did my front brakes and 4 Toyo tires and alignment, very satisfied!

I have been coming ti these guys for 10 plus years now, with two different cars! I even BOUGHT a car from them! THEY DO NOT DISAPPOINT! I had a Jeep grand Cherokee 2005 V8 and that car gave me nothing but problems. The dodge dealership wouldn t help me or said there were no problems. I came to these guys right here and they kept my car for 2 days and figured out damn near all the problems. I had electrical problems, transmission problems, power steering, brake problems, and some other engine problems. Thank the lord I don t have that car anymore now I have a new Nissan Altima. Now I come for oil changes, tire rotations, and flat tires. I even bought new tires form them for both my cars! They saved me money here than going to the dealership. Great condition and new. Like I said THESE GUYS DO NOT DISAPPOINT!

Tony and David really took care of my wife s 2015 GMC YukonWe had a quote of $7,500 to rebuild our transmission from the local dealership and they did it for a lot less and gave me a better warrantyI would definitely recommend them your transmission needs

Excellent service, and communication! I had gone to numerous other shops to try and help diagnose an issue that I thought was related to my front differential going out. None of the other shops could find a problem. After the vehicle was dropped and diagnosed by Tony and his crew and Monterey transmission, I was informed that it was actually my transfer case that was bad. The guys at Monterey Transmission not only fixed that issue, but also addressed a few other minor issues that I was unaware of, and all at a beyond reasonable cost. My truck runs so much better!!Furthermore, my vehicle was ready sooner than I was initially told it would be, but I was out of town and couldn t pick it up for at least a week. The vehicle was stored properly, and securely until the day I was able to pick it up. This shop is top notch!! If you require any type of drive train, engine services you should look no fitter than Monterey Transmission. Other shops should takes notes, because Monterey Transmission is the blueprint!

Tony and his team really saved me a lot of time and trouble. He understood the time-sensitive needs of my business, and worked hard to accommodate my transmission rebuild - a 2015 Silverado 4x4. He was kind, a great communicator, and completed the rebuild way ahead of schedule. The truck feels strong/bullet-proof and I have all the confidence that it is 'right'. Mr Tony and the crew at monterey transmissions are a great group of people, they helped me out with a new transmission through my warranty company. They even went outta their way to go pickup the transmission when it wouldn't be delivered to their shop. Got my transmission installed and an external transmission cooler on top of it. Installed quickly and very professionally. Will always take my truck back for services. Can't thank them enough!Service: Transmission

We took our jeep here for an oil leak. They repaired the oil leak. The next day the jeep started overheating. I called Tony back and asked him if it was overheating yesterday while they were test driving it and he said no. Tony said he d take a look at it to see why it was overheating at no charge. Tony called us back and stated he was pretty sure that our issue now was the water pump. Tony quoted us approximately $800 to replace the water pump. I asked Tony how sure he was about the water pump and he said it s either the water pump or the entire motor I advised Tony that we would be getting a second opinion, due to his lack of confidence in diagnosing the issue. When we went to pick up the vehicle, Tony was very rude and did not foster a welcoming environment when he found out we were getting a second opinion. The shop was not confident in their diagnosis of the issue and when questioned they took offense, they did not promote confidence in their work or work ethic. Will not be coming here again very unprofessional, and unsure about his staff being certified mechanics.

I went this morning thinking I had an issue with my 4x4 Low. I was greeted instantly and they starting taking a look at my truck right away. They were able to diagnose that nothing was wrong within 5 minutes and didn t end up charging me despite wasting their time. Service was excellent. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Prices for parts and labor are as good as I have found in the Monterey county for quality work. They are military and veteran friendly as I found even when I was not advertising that fact.
