Based on recent price comparisons with other auto repair shops for a recent auto repair need, I can respectfully say that prices for their services are a bit on the higher side.I did end up getting my car repaired at this Midas shop as I was was on personal time limitations; also this shop was conveniently located for me.The staff was both friendly and professional

I received very excellent service at Midas in Salinas California on John Street. Robert really explained thoroughly work that needed to be done to my vehicle. The brakes and rotors were replaced within a few hours. My vehicle was ready to be picked up.! Thank you for your excellent service

On my trip from Sacramento to San Luis Obispo today my brakes started making a noise in Salinas. I had Midas on St John in Salinas check it out. They quickly were able to get us in, diagnosed to problem, and were able to replace the front brakes and rotors. We were back on the road in 3 hours. They were able to get the parts quickly. Robert at the desk was so helpful, friendly, and made us completely comfortable. Great shop. I would definitely recommend them. They also were able to direct us to nearby food. Thank you thank you so much Robert and Midas Salinas.

Everyone is very polite. The service is thorough. I know my maintenance is in good hands when I go here. I do not think I'm treated differently for being a woman, and not knowledgeable about cars. Thank you Midas for taking care of my car.

Overall, I had a good experience at Midas. However, when I initially called about a coupon that I had for $39.95 I was asked about my vehicle and then when I went to the store that coupon was not available for my kind of car. I did get an additional discount. it would have been nice to have known that I couldn't use that coupon in the beginning.

Lalo is the most kind, incredible mechanic I have ever met! I am a college student living in Salinas and he helped explain what my car's problems were to me, how to fix them, and next steps. Great place to go if your having any car troubles or just need a place you can trust for routine maintenance.Robert was very professional and reassuring when explaining everything about the process as well as the repair made me feel comfortable knowing that when I left with my car I wouldn't have to worry about if it was done right or not or whether I was over charged or not they all around did a fantastic job ! I highly recommend going here for minor or serious repairs they will take care of you guaranteed. Had an appointment at 8am for basic oil change and tire rotation. I was the first customer of the day. It took 1 hr 45 min to finish and they didn t rotate my tires until I had to remind them, which added another 30 minutes. Oil change and tire rotation is a basic service they provide so I m not sure how the tech would forget to rotate the tires. They definitely need to work on their time management, especially for basic services such as a simple oil change.Service: Oil change

Great service, things started a little shaky over the initial call but Robert was sure to clarify the misunderstanding and I really appreciated that. I took both cars for oil changes, wires , fuel clearing, air filters etc. I was able to get a ride home and even call for pick up. Staff was on lunch so instead of waiting as it was a nice day. They were short staffed so they didn't start working on my car right at my appointment time. However, once they started they worked fast. I showed up at 9am and was back in my car by 10am. Thanks Midas! -\-\23Had them do a "new vehicle inspection" on a 12 year old car. Instead of handing me a huge list of necessary work and repairs they said the car was in good shape for its age and only needs a minimal amount of work done at this time. I keep coming back because I never feel like they are milking my wallet because I don't know how a timing belt works or how often I should replace my spark plugs. Really happy that I made my appt here. I planned on having a long day in Salinas and it worked perfectly with my car drop off and pick up! The guys working there were approachable and got my quote super quick. I needed a lot of maintenance and Robert explained the issues in detail etc. Seems like good prices all around also, easy to find on the corner of the street also.

Everyone was very professional. The tech that changed my oil and did the inspection was fast and found a nail in my tire. They said it would take an hour and a half but I was out of there in under an hour. The brakes as Midas were more affordable than going through Salinas Toyota. The warranty is also more than reasonable.

BE CAREFUL. I took two new tires here. I asked Midas to: 1) install the two new tires, and 2) leave on the car the best two of the car s other four existing tires BUT DEFINITELY NOT THE LEFT REAR TIRE because it has a nail (bolt/screw) embedded in the tread.Manager carefully writes all this info down. Calls me a couple of hours later to say the car is ready. I get there, take a quick look, and sure enough, the left rear tire is still there with the same nail sticking out. They replaced it with one of the other tires they had just taken off my car, but I had to wait an hour and 20 minutes because the tech had just dipped out for lunch.What if I hadn t checked the tire? Driving with a nail in your tire is inherently dangerous.This is also the kind of thing that makes you wonder what else they might have done incorrectly.As others have mentioned, this shop is also getting pretty expensive for work other than oil changes. I had them replace my low beams (bulbs only) and was charged for a full hour @ the shop rate of $170. Really??I ve been to this shop quite a few times in the last 10 years with good outcomes, but yesterday was a disappointment.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Tire rotations, Oil change

UPDATE:Things change. People change. Corporations change personnel and policies, and perfect their profiteering. Sadly, that's the case we've found in the last couple of visits to Midas. Jorge reportedly died during the pandemic. Jeff left to find other employment. The current pair of Roberts do the "oops, we miscommunicated" dance very well.Not only were we over the barrel for an alternator replacement necessitated on a Saturday (and needing somewhere we knew would be open to receive AAA's delivery of the vehicle), when I hiked to Midas to pick up the vehicle Monday morning, having been told by the second Robert that it was ready, he claimed that they'd been instructed not to replace the faulty battery. But for another $300 they could get me out the door within a half an hour.In short - the quote by the first Robert of just over a thousand dollars on Saturday became $1509+, minus a $100 coupon the second Robert provided "to make up for the misunderstanding." I don't think there was a misunderstanding. It seemed like intentional miscommunication in order to pocket nearly 150% of what online pricing services suggest the cost should have been.We miss Jorge and Jeff. But I imagine that Midas' corporate sales strategists like the two Roberts much better. And we're in the market for a mechanic.--------------PREVIOUS REVIEW from 2019: Prior experiences elsewhere have left me distrustful of auto repair shops. The online reviews of our local Midas shop, and specific mentions of the personnel handling the service writing and repairs, helped me decide to choose as local a shop as I could. (They're literally around the corner and down the street.) They were thorough, communicative, friendly and, best of all, they did what work needed done, and no more...even when they could easily have padded their time in several ways. Of course, the fact that they got my problems solved at a far lower price than I anticipated...well, that's very nice, too.

I called Midas to make an appointment stating I had been in a few weeks ago for an oil change and tune up and that the check engine light went on and I wanted to get it checked as a follow up to my tune up since the car was just checked on. I ended up getting charged $170 for a check engine diagnostic and all that was wrong is that the gas cap was installed incorrectly. I asked the representative if I could get a cheaper price since I come here for oil changes and tuneups and he refused unfortunately, I did have a coupon so got $20 off but still frustrated by the amount I was paying for such a minor issue and since I was a regular customer. If you don t use the discounts and get oil changes this place will rip you off big time.

Had to update my review on them - so my first time here they were able to inspect my vehicle fairly quickly and were able to identify and fully service the issue the same day, only thing is they are severely understaffed so it did take a long time about 7 hours in fact for my truck to be done and wound up costing me $720 just for new back brakes and drums to be installed - however my truck is running much better now. Had to dock a star for my 2nd experience here - I had scheduled an alignment for 8 A.M. and arrived and was in the door at exactly 8 A.M. when I got to the counter they told me they had taken someone else ahead of me already and to come back at 11 o clock - I think it s ridiculous they can t honor their own appointments, I d understand if I was 5 or 10 minutes late but I was on time and they went ahead and serviced someone else before me anyways. I came back at 11 and my truck wasn t moved into the shop until 11:35 and than the mechanics all went to lunch! I didn t leave that place until almost 2 o clock. I only removed 1 star instead of 2 because the manager Joey does text his customers and follows up with them after a service has been done in regards to how things went, although after explaining what happened nothing was really done about it, however I appreciate him following up - nowhere else I ve been to has a manager or owner done that. Long story short if you have lots of time, money and patience to spare throwing at your car problems this is the place for you

This was the first time I got an oil change at Midas for my new vehicle because I had been taking it to the dealership for services. I thought I d go to Midas because I assumed it would save me money. Midas charged me more than the dealership for my oil change and when I asked why the cost was so high the man working told me I don t make the prices and then told me I should just go to the dealership next time. He was rude when I was asking a simple question. I was expecting to pay around $40 since I had a coupon and instead paid over $120. I used to go to Midas for my last car and never had any issues and I m disappointed I won t be going back. I ll stick to the dealership for oil changes.Service: Oil change
