Probably the best mechanic shop I ve been too in Salinas affordable and fast I bring my own parts and they install it not manny shops do that this place really A+. PS the way they handle one star reviews made my day

I'd taken my car in for repair of an exhaust leak. They repaired the leak but also found oil leaks at the top and bottom of the engine block. These were also repaired.And they polished my headlight lenses.The car's performance was much improved. As was my ability to see the road at night.I recommend A-1 to co-workers and friends because I've always found their staff to be well trained, quick, and efficient. I take all my cars to be smogged there. Had my Audi fixed and runs great. I dealt with Jim. He's great. Dosen't take advantage and is very honest. Definitely will be back and reccomend this business. Oh, i also took my Camaro to the dealer to get fixed and they said it was....lol Jim and the A1 boys said it wasn't. Went back to dealer.....got my money back. I will NEVER go back to lying dealer.

Came in late in the day around 3p as a walk in after having paid for car maintenance elsewhere 2 days prior because same issue was continuing and prior mechanic shop wasn t responding. Not only did they empathize with my situation, they were upfront regarding repairs, costs and were so eager to get me back on the road safely & quickly. By 10:30a next morning my car was up & running ready for pick up. Grateful for everything start to finish!Services: Vehicle Inspection, Brakes, Auto brake replacement

I pulled in after my check-engine light came on in an old car that I bought four months ago. Jim got to the diagnosis fairly quickly and let me know the catalytic converter was shot as well as an oxygen sensor. He gave me an estimate, which I approved, and he called for the parts. He was able to get them quickly and installed everything. I was back on my way 2.5 hours after I arrived. He's not the least expensive guy around, but he has not steered me wrong in the two years I've been going to A-1, and service is always reasonably fast.Services: Exhaust, Auto engine diagnostic

Walked in with my baby, planning to make an appointment and the gentleman said he had time right then and there! Gave an estimate for an oil change up front and performed service within 30-40 mins. I was able to walk two mins away and browse goodwill and return to my car serviced and ready to go. Paid very close to estimated price. :D Sticker placed for next visit and I will be returning. Really lucky to have found this place. I broke down and needed a mechanic fast while traveling from Lake Nacimiento to South Lake Tahoe. They fit me in as soon as the tow arrived, diagnosed the issue immediately and treated me and both of my dogs with kindness and courtesy. Really just treated us like family! I also found prices reasonable. What a relief on a hard day to have found such professional and efficient service. Will be recommending to others in the area.

I was looking for a new shop to take my vehicle to. I moved to a new town and I was looking for shop to bring my vehicles to. I found some good enough reviews to justify to going it to A1 Automotive . I made a hasty decision and I paid for it Jim the owner wasn't as professional as I had hoped he'd be he did not listen to any of the things I said that I'd done to the car therefore he had some trouble locating the exact problem when he called me a week later he told me exactly what I thought it was anyway. I was charged me for new battery terminals. I already had new terminals he also attempted to charge me for a battery but I told my battery was new I just wouldn't bring my car there or refer this place to anybody .

As a mechanic I definitely recommend this place for any smog check . They are fast and never make excuses not to do the smog check. I have personally taken 3 of my vehicles.

I was very pleased that Jim, manager of A1, found the oil leak. Another refutable firm did not tighten my oil filter enough, so that it leaked a little. In the future, I will probably get my oil changes at A1, rather than that other place. The services I had done by A1 were quick and little of my time was wasted, thanks to Jim and his staff.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

Got a smoke test didn't pass wanted to do a retest and they wanted to charge same price when all other places give either a free retest or a discounted retest i thought that wasn't fair he stated did the labor work so its going to charge every time you do a test. Really didn't know plugging a scanner was so much work that's to bad the shell across the street isnt open
