This is our 3rd time using Polar Bear Auto Care, and I can say they are honest and explain things thoroughly. If you have questions they have answers. We had our A/c fixed last visit. This time we had them check an oil leak, tune-up and oil change. Fast service and dependable. When we got our truck back we noticed a nice small touch. The small plastic slider buttons had been broke for some time on our heat and ac cluster. And we had just been sliding the little metal pieces. They replaced them for us and said not a word. What a nice little bonus. Thank you Polar Bear for the small things and the honesty.Services: Auto engine tuning, Auto A/C replacement, Oil change

Brought in my 95 aerostar camper van to have a/c fixed. Basically needed all new. Polar was recommended by my normal mechanic for this work. Layla at the front desk was super friendly and knowledgeable. Turns out they had to install 3 compressors after the first two parts were failing. Took over 2 weeks so I did have to check in a couple times to find out what was happening. But they made sure the job was done right which I appreciate. Other places may have not wanted to eat the labor and would have sent my van back to me leaking. Overall I d give polar an A/A- really appreciative of the honesty and professionalism.Services: Auto A/C replacement, Oil change

Either bad mechanics that cant do an effective diagnostic or ripoffs that will nickel and dime you. Everyone is trying to maximize profit I guess. Take your choice, but I'd take my business elsewhere. and be prepared to get an earful about the pandemic.I just want my car fixed, not an dissertation about your feelings toward the Democrats, Gavin Newsom, Joe Biden, or their pandemic hoax. Great you have feeling about politics, if I wanted an honest opinion, I'd go elsewhere.

The folks at Polar Bear Auto Care are great. The office staff kept us informed as the repairs proceeded and were easy and great to work with. There were issues in getting the right parts for our 1990 Toyota 4X4. The problem was with the suppliers, never with the Polar Bear technicians. The Polar Bear technicians were persistent and did not quit until they got the correct parts. The repairs were done professionally and correctly. We were VERY happy with the results.

Took my Honda van in for A/C work back in April. Given my past experiences at other shops, I wanted to wait and make sure all was good before recommending. A/C and overall service work all good. I felt confident enough with Polar to have my wife bring her car for service. Polar bear was highly recommended by numerous people. My experience leaves a lot to be desired.Our 2019 Expedition was not cooling very well. Polar's standard inspection cost a few hundred dollars and I was ok with that.Their diagnosis was we needed a new compressor and new evaporator in the rear at greater than $3,000. I said no thank you.Took it to another highly rated AC shop and all we needed was a top off of refrigerant.Beware, this business will rip you off.

Courteous and professional service. Honest. And they do a lot more than just air conditioning. I was given a handout that categorizes and lists all their services. They pretty much do everything. I was referred to Polar Bear Auto Care by another mechanic who told me that Polar Bear carries the R12 refrigerant for older air conditioning units in vintage cars. (These days it s hard to find a mechanic who still carries R12.) Polar Bear diagnosed the problem with my A/C and thoroughly explained the work needed to get the unit working again. They did an excellent job and the A/C now works good as new. I recommend this shop and will likely go back for other work on the car.Service: Air conditioning

They got my '92 Camry's AC blowing ice cubes again just in time for the summer heat wave, worth the cost, I don't think it has worked this good since 1992. Their rates are comparable to other auto repair shops, their office staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

First time customer, and Polar Bear Auto Care has won my future business. They were honest, professional and responsive to my needs and concerns. The owner even stayed late to get my car into their back lot when the tow company was taking forever. I have used Polar Bear Auto Care three over the last few years. The first time was for the repair of my air conditioning system, the second was was for a fix on my heating system, and just recently the repair of my newest vehicles air conditioning system! In all three instances I found the work to be very high quality, at a significantly lower cost than the dealerships wanted to charge. The work was completed in a timely manner and the company had great customer service with follow-up concern for my satisfaction!I now own a 2015 Toyota Tacoma truck and plan to continue to have it serviced by Polar Bear Auto Care exclusively. I have not found their level of top-quality, professional service at a reasonable price, anywhere else. That coupled with the level of care and concern they demonstrate for their customers, makes them an excellent auto service business that offers all types of auto care servicing!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Air conditioning

I am very disappointed in the service. I paid for spark plugs, even after telling the shop I previously fixed the spark plugs a year prior. That was definitely not the issue. Another shop diagnosed the issue was 4 fuel injectors. I was assured Polar would be able to find the issue however it appears they did a quick fix job with spark plugs.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Save yourself the hassle and expense and go to Polar Bear Auto Care first! We had two, expensive, failed repairs of our air conditioning and then went to Polar Bear who were professional, fast, efficient, fair priced and did the job right. I started telling a friend about driving through the Central Valley when it was 96 degrees outside with no a/c because of a bad repair job and he cut me off and said, Why didn t you just take it to Polar Bear? Why indeed. Next time I will!Service: Air conditioning

I brought my truck here because the first shop did not resolve the problem. The Team at Polar Bear found the issue and made timely suggestion to replace the Air Conditioner Fan motor as well. This would reduce the long term cost of having to go back and replace it later. It was noisy and rattled. Everything is perfect now. Air Conditioning feels like new.Service: A/C installation & repair

Kevin and his team at polar bear auto did an amazing job from start to finish. He is an absolute sweetheart as well as his team. They are very knowledgeable and if there is any problems they get them handled without any hiccups. They also showed me around the shop and I got to meet their doggies they keep at the shop. I had a whole front end suspension and starter replaced. 2 days and I had my 4runner back. They also replaced a few other things that was just shot I never would have known about. We took my grandfather's 1990 Toyota truck into Polar Bear Auto Care because it had an old air conditioning system that only they could fix. They were professional, friendly, and got the repair done in a reasonable amount of time. They also were kind to us when the car we drove up in started leaking coolant and we needed to have it towed because it was a type of car they didn't fix. Highly recommend them. Great people and excellent service. I took my Toyota Tundra and Toyota wanted over $4000.00 to do a front end rebuild. Polar found that Toyota added some services that were not needed and saved me labor for the rest. I appreciate their honesty and great work. My truck runs better than ever. I had my AC serviced three times before going to Polar Bear. Staff were extremly friendly. They examined the AC and explained what needed to be done. At the end of the repair they showed me a piece that had to be replaced.Service: A/C installation & repairService: A/C installation & repair

The customer service was good and very informative. I paid about $2,050 for new a/c compressor and oil change. Its been about a week and everything has been good with the a/c. The only issue was I had to tighten the oil pan plug due to leaking oil during the work week. I checked underneath my car and I was able to unplug it with my hands. It was very loose. I also had to go purchase more oil for the one that spilled. Air Conditioning is working now for the first time since i bought my truck! Work was done ahead of schedule and they detailed under the hood! I am a multiple repeat customer (family of vehicles) and have been using Polar Bear for years even before the current ownership. I am so very disappointed in the poor service I received. I am equally disappointed that Polar Bear staff knew I was unhappy. They did nothing, and said nothing, to keep my business. I had previously given a 5 Star review but that has now changed to 2 Stars because of late and poor service. If I was to rate their location I would give it a 1 Star (filthy, homeless encampments everywhere!!). I did a before hours, early morning drop off at 7AM and was concerned about my vehicle being broken into (took a chance and did it anyway). Very unfortunate that I/we will have to find and more reputable establishment that we can have confidence in.There was little point in having the vehicle there early as the brake quote didn't arrive until after 1PM and was a complete waste of time! The cost information the service writer, Austin, provided was delivered in a slow, inattentive, and less than deliberate way. Austin provided a cost for the front brakes but didn't have a cost for a complete (4 wheel) brake job. I had a few questions and he didn't have the answers readily available. After my experience I lost all confidence in Polar Bear as a shop that I will do business with. Sad!Service: Brake service & repair

I will always take my cars here. I moved here from the Bay Area and didn t know the area. When I had problems with my AC I looked on line and found many five star reviews for Polar Bear. Turns out they are five star. Exceptional work. In order to do the work on my AC they had to remove my dashboard and center console to replace the evaporator coil. They did all this work and put everything back and I couldn t tell. My AC works perfectly just like when my car was new and the interior still looks new. I've taken my Ford Ranger to Polar Bear for multiple fixes over the last few years and they always do a good job and at a reasonable price. So far, even the "temporary fix" of my a/c 2 years ago is holding strong. Saved me almost a grand! I'll continue to bring my vehicles to these guys and recommend them to everyone I know. :)Update 2021: I had an oil leak that we thought was the rear main seal... but after multiple attempts of replacing the seal, they discovered it was the main bearing cap. They got it fixed and didn't charge me for the extra labor. Once again, I'm super happy with these guys for their integrity and honesty. Highly recommended!

Kevin and his team at Polar Bear have been providing Fleet Service for my Delivery Fleet and I can tell you that you will find no better service, and honesty in auto repair anywhere else in Sacramento. Our vehicles still carry warranties but I wont even take them to the dealership because the quality of work we receive is levels above what we get from the dealer.
