Mike used to work at Paul's and now he also has this shop. I am pleased with all the staff here. The service both customer and technical is top notch. I will always bring my cars here.

This is an absolutely true story....2 weeks ago I was on my way to race my motorcycle at Laguna Seca Raceway. We are given one weekend out of the ENTIRE year to go ride at this track....it's like Mecca to some of us. It's also very expensive and there are no refunds given if you don't make it.I'm in a full-size pickup truck towing a 24' race trailer and I have my elderly cat with me. I'm halfway there. It's Friday afternoon at 3:30pm and its 109 degrees out. The radiator on my truck blows out and I'm stuck on the side of the Interstate. I'm waiting on Roadside Assistance to arrive, hopefully, with a truck big enough to tow my entire rig SOMEWHERE! My race weekend is effectively over and I'm MUCH more concerned about being stranded in this dangerous heat in the heart of Sacramento's homeless apocalypse with my old cat who is now panting because it's so oppressively hot and I can't run the truck so there's no A/C. This isn't looking good.While I wait, I start calling around to local shops to see if there's even anyplace I can safely get towed to, much less have a major repair done an hour before the weekend.First place I call can't take my rig.....I ask if they can recommend anyone and the woman says, "Give Mike & Sons a try....."Unbeknownst to me at that moment, my day went from being in the WORST possible situation to witnessing a small miracle.I call Mike & Sons and I happen to reach Froy, the general manager. I explain the situation and try not to outright BEG for help but he takes just an extra moment to chat with me. After explaining that they are closed on weekends along with every other shop in the area, I ask him if he knows of a safe place I can at least get towed to until I figure out my next move. After giving me a couple of suggestions, Froy takes a pause and then asks me where I'm broken down....when we realize that I'm only a mile or two from his shop, he offers to come over to where I am and take a quick look at my truck. Ten minutes later, he's on the side of Interstate 5 with me, pressurizing my cooling system and identifies the leak in my radiator.Froy tells me that he might be able to find me a radiator and, if he can, he'd be willing to come in on his day off the next day (Saturday) and fix my truck so that I can get back on the road!! Is this guy for real?!?He goes back to his shop, makes a couple of calls and then calls me and tells me he's found a radiator and can have it delivered in the next 30 minutes......THEN he tells me to get my rig towed to their shop and HE WILL STAY LATE TONIGHT AND FIX MY TRUCK because he knows it's just not safe for me to have to stay overnight anywhere in that area!!By the time I got towed to Mike & Sons that evening, Froy was patiently waiting for me, new radiator in hand, shop door open and shop lights blazing, standing outside with a kind and gentle smile on his face. This BEAUTIFUL SOUL stayed late on Friday night after work while his wife, 2 toddlers and their NEWBORN waited for him to come home from work and see their DADDY and start their family weekend......just so I could go have MINE!I was back on the road in 2 1/2 hours.I've met a lot of folks in my life but rarely does one get to meet an Angel. I'm ETERNALLY grateful I was blessed to meet mine.Mike, you and your sons have one heck of a mechanic and manager at your shop.....more importantly, however, you have one HELL OF A GUY at your shop!Froy (and I REALLY hope I'm getting your name right bro....Froydan?!?!), from the bottom of my heart, thank you again! Not only for restoring my truck to fine working order but for also restoring my faith in humankind.God Bless you and your family.....Laguna was epic!!Sincerely,Mark Scheid

Rather than charging me for all kinds of work, Froylan asked me a few questions to get a general diagnosis. He mentioned that given my transmission had overheated multiple times and the mileage on my car, fixing the transmission may simply reveal another costly repair, and maybe it was time to consider a replacement.He didn't take advantage of me despite knowing that I was from out of town and that he may never see me again. Instead, he took his time to educate me on car healthy and advised me on my options. I was in a vulnerable spot having potentially put my family in an unsafe situation in an aging car. Yet, Froylan listened and empathized rather than just try to move on with his day. What a guy. It's incredibly refreshing to find a shop I feel I could trust when I have left several dissatisfied.

The team at Mike and Sons is professional, responsive, and friendly. I have taken my 2007 Cadillac CTS there multiple times for a variety of repairs and I am always satisfied with the result. What I appreciate most about this auto shop is that they communicate in a clear, non-intimidating way. Look no more, Mike & Sons is the best in town! The staffs are very professional and honest, listen and explain everything clearly so you know what to expect. (Big shoutout to Manny and Froy you guys are awesome!I first came to Mike & Sons for an inspection on the cooling system because the service department at the Toyota dealership said I need to replace my water pump and I was suspicious about it. I came to Mike & Sons and they did an inspection. Everything worked well and there's no need to replace anything.Of course I am not going back to the dealership for service to get scammed, so I've been taking my vehicle to Mike & Sons for maintenance since then. The communication is always clear and prompt and the service is amazing! Highly recommend!

Family owned business. Best experience I have had with a shop in YEARS. I highly recommend Mike and Sons for all things automotive. They are professional, personable, listen and explain everything in detail. Above all - they know what they are talking about, have experienced techs and professional staff. I am a woman, which unfortunately means most shops try to pull one over on me as the dealer tried. I got a second opinion from Mike and Sons and received honest feedback on what I need, and what I didn't need but was told I did. You can't go wrong with this shop and it's location on Q Street directly off the freeway. It made for a perfect walk to work in the morning (14 mins) and back to the shop after - of course there are other options, but I work on Capitol Mall so it was perfect for me to get my steps in.Services: Vehicle Inspection, Vehicle safety inspection, Oil change

I went here last year and must have forgotten to review. My car was having trouble starting, and I called AAA, and they thought it was a faulty battery. I replaced it and was still having issues. I took it to another car repair shop that is usually pretty good. I explained to them everything I thought it could possibly be... Fuel line, starter, battery, etc. Frustratingly, they weren't even able to identify the issue.Finally, I brought my car to Mike & Sons and they were able to figure out the issue within a day or so. They fixed it and did some other maintenance on my car as well. Super nice and professional, and fixed my car when no one else could!

Traveling through when our van started overheating. Stopped off highway at nearest mechanic which was here. Froylan and Team took us in right away and did a temporary but very knowledgeable fix so we could drive 8 hours home. So thankful! Nice guys and fair price.

Mike and Sons was fantastic! My truck had a suspected starter issue and they didn't charge me until they were sure and were generous enough to take a look at the truck on two separate occasions. Once they determined it was the starter and the battery, they were able to repair the truck the same day. Wonderful service and they really care about their customers. Michael also made sure to follow up a few days after the repair and sent another follow up message a few months later. My truck is old so they will definitely be seeing me again :)Services: Electrical repair, Auto battery replacement

I hit a curb and my car had significant damage to the undercarriage. Mike & sons was the first parking lot I pulled into after getting off the freeway after the accident. I m so lucky to have been taken care of the way that I was. They are in no way a budget or cheap auto shop, but they are reasonable, honest, and trustworthy. With Mike & Sons automotive, you are paying for their expertise and quality care. They communicate effectively so there are no surprises and they give recommendations without pressure. I would highly recommend Mike & Sons. I had a very challenging repair need and they kept me informed throughout the lengthy process and sleuthed out an issue that had only ever been reported once in CA before for my make and model. I hate calling any auto shop for repair because 1, I am a woman so I don't like being talked down to and 2, I don't know anything about auto mechanics and then being billed for things I don't understand. So it was a breath of fresh air when I called Mike and Sons. Nicest lady who answered the phone, and then coming in to someone who was professional and willing to talk to me in layman's terms. I brought in my 2013 Mazda3 that I've put >120,000 miles on for an oil change. I've taken it to several other mechanics for maintenance and even asked about several components that I thought would have needed maintenance due to the mileage. I was always told nothing additional was needed but I noticed differences in the way my car was driving. After dropping it off, I got a call from Manny at the desk detailing a laundry list of things that were dirty, dying, or worn to the point of near danger. I got a quote that was very close to the end price, and was able to pick up my car when they said I would be able to, not even a week later. Mike was friendly and explained the work done on my vehicle when I picked it up without being condescending. Now, my car drives as well as when I took it off the lot in '13 and I have a new favorite mechanic! As a woman, calling a mechanic is something I normally dread - I've had many experiences filled with misogyny and feeling talked down to, all because I needed the help of a business that should, in theory, be there to help.I'm happy to report that I have never once felt this way calling or taking my car into Mike and Sons/Paul's Automotive! From the moment I call to the last point of contact when picking my car up, whoever I have the pleasure of working with is kind, knowledge, and takes my concerns seriously. I cannot possibly say enough to convey how appreciative I am of these guys! Thank you all for being so incredible!

I ve been going to mike and sons for about 2 years now. I have never once felt like I should go somewhere else. The customer service and transparency they provide is like no other with detailed reports and pictures. They always give their recommendation and never feel like they are just trying to nickel and dime me. Usually Froy is there to help me but even mike himself. It s a great shop and I will always take my cars there while I m living in the Sacramento area.Oh I forgot last time I had my brakes done they even vacuumed my floors!Stellar team, stellar shop, you won t regret it.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Air conditioning, Oil change

I'm still in shock after paying nearly $900 for new brakes!! For some reason I had figured my cost to be between $300 and $500. What a surprise when I was informed of the new price. Your agent was very professional and did a good job explaining the charges.I live 3 blocks away in a retirement complex, so coming up with the additional expense was troublesome. The good news is that you've given me a two year guarantee should something go wrong.I can recommend Mike's to others, but must advise them of the costService: Brakes

I was stuck in Sacramento with a screw in my tire. A friend recommended this place as good people. When I brought my car in that morning they were busy with other orders but after I told them I was from out of town they made the time to service my tire. Go to Mike and Sons! I can't recommend Mike and Frey more. Consummate professionals, super nice people, immensely skilled. They worked on a 30 year old beat up truck for us, and after they were done, I was able to drive it across the country. Incredible! They are honest, understanding, and helpful. They got into the weeds on the truck and really did the work to make it great. Forever grateful. Mike, Frey, you are awesome people. Thank you guys!

I noticed a protruding screw from one of my tires after listening to a clicking noise driving. I thought about going to different places to do it and noticed this place on Google Maps. I was not expecting service walking in from the street. At first, I offered to come back when it was less busy, but they just happened to have a service guy available. They were thorough with inspecting all 4 tires in case I was wrong. The whole service took about 1 hour. I'm very happy with the experience. Thank you allService: Tires

Driving w my family and the radiator exploded, had the car towed to Mike's and requested an appointment via their website. The owner empathized w my situation via quick email response. The car was fixed in a couple of days, my wife had all of the interaction w the shop and described it as a positive experience. I can't really speak to the value as I did zero shopping around and have no other estimates to compare the work to. I will definitely return to Mike's for future work.

Being a female and disabled i expected them to try to take advantage but no. They were honest, on point and very courteous. Did not do any work that I did not approve first and they cared about my welfare as well. I am going to choose Mikes and Sons First. You guys are awesome and the price was awesome as well. What I most appreciate about Mike and Sons is that I feel as if I can trust them. I don't believe that they will steer me wrong. They have not tried to "up-sell" on anything. So, I take my car back there when it needs service because I'm going to get the service it needs and no pressure to do things it doesn't. Mike's is a good, honest business.

Great mechanics and friendly service. Came here on recommendation of a friend and had an old car with an EVAP issue. They worked their butts off finding the source of the leak and communicated every step along the way. Will be coming back here for all my service in the future

In early July 2020, I brought my car in for an oil change and noise inspection. Mike came back quoting me over $6,400 in repairs. When I asked for specifics on the repairs to be broken down in the quote (parts/labor). He told me they were unable to put all on the repairs on one invoice because the scanner was broken. Instead, printing out over 30pgs for each 'required' repair. And no grand total. (I had to add them myself.) This whole experience felt really 'fishy.' And so I got a second opinion, the other shop made it clear that Mike and Son's was trying to wring every last drop of money out of me. Saying that Mike had recommended multiple expensive and entirely unnecessary repairs. The new shop even knew the history of Mike and Son's location. (Apparently the place had changed owners the year prior.) Ultimately, I got the needed repairs done at the other shop which only cost me $700. Oh and the exact same repair at Mike and Sons was quoted as several hundred more. Mike and Son's is clearly struggling because they were able to fit me in the next morning. These are tough economic times for everyone which makes their behavior in attempt to swindle people even more deplorable. So do yourself a favor, and DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!
