My car (a '07 Lexus GS 350) was showing signs of needing a new transmission. Hard shift between 1st and 2nd and it reached a point where it could no longer shift to 5th or 6th gear. I called around and received quotes from other local shops including some national name outfits. Ended coming here to House of Automatic Transmission based on a referral from a fellow co-worker. Tom (owner) was fantastic to interact with. Super easy going fella and knows transmission. He answered all my questions about transmissions, cost, options and such. His shop works on transmission for both old and new cars. He managed to locate just a handful of places where a rebuilt transmission is still available for my make and model. The transmission was ordered on 12/12/23 and arrived on 12/18/23. Dropped my car off the same day and got my car back on 12/21/23. I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing a review just to make sure everything is working good. Today on 1/9/24, and after 59 trips and 287 miles later, my car is running very smoothly. It drives like new and I couldn't be happier. The cost of my repair was close to $6K but still lower than other quotes that I got. Still cheaper than a car loan payment of $800+ for 60+ months.Overall, I am very happy with the outcome. Tom's service is a solid 5/5. His work is also a 5/5. Cost is a 4/5. (There were other places that I called that quoted a lower cost - Tom's was somewhere in the middle). Overall, I would give House of Automatic Transmission a solid 4.5/5.If you're needing transmission work done on your car, consider giving this place a call. There is no cost to getting it evaluated and a quote. Can't miss the shop as it's painted with a turquoise color. Parking can be limited but getting to his shop is pretty easy. While you're there, check out some of the older cars that he usually has on lifts. Very cool stuff. Transmission work is never cheap but consider the pros/cons of it vs pros/cons of getting a new car and weigh your options.If you find this review helpful, give the thumbs up bottom a tap below.

Took a few days for the sensor to arrive, but after that it was smooth sailing. Only charged me labor, same as part & now my Avalon is running smoothly again.

Thom is the man! Super duper knowledgeable and trustworthy. I had a horrible experience with a different shop who rebuilt my transmission, they cut a lot of corners and left my car in a sorry state. But Thom and his team did an amazing job and fixed it same day. I'm incredibly happy that I went with this shop. Thank you!!

Gave this place a try because it had a lot of good reviews and I wasn t disappointed. This place deserve more then five star. Very respectful and honest shop. A few shops decline to inspect/fix my car because it was leaking. Brought my old Honda Odyssey here cause it was having transmission problems. Thom didn t charge me for the work he did cause he said it was a simple fix , but that simple fix was big to us and we couldn t be more thankful for thom. Prices were very reasonable honestly cheaper then anywhere else I ve quoted. Want to give Thom a big thank you again, your gratitude goes a long way me and my family is very thankful for your help today. My only regret is not finding this shop sooner for my other cars but this will be my family go to shop for now on.Service: Transmission

The place looked really old and I kinda had some reservations about it. What brought me in was that this place had great reviews, like all of them. And what can I say? This has got to be the BEST transmission shop I'd ever been too, and it's not even close! The owner, Tom, was very attentive and his associates were very welcoming. They had good attention to detail and worked very fast. The price is better than anywhere I could find and Tom even beat his own price. I tell you, they have a loyal customer from this point on. EVERYONE THAT NEEDS TRANSMISSION WORK DONE, STOP BY!!!P.S. They need 10 stars, no joke!

I needed a transmission rebuild and from the moment I called this has been a wonderful experience. Tom and Daniel are extremely polite, efficient, and professional. Tom was patient and worked so quick, I couldn't believe how fast he was. He said I would be without a car for two days and he was a man of his word. The pricing was not at all unreasonable especially when I saw how much I paid for labor, shocked in a great way. He also provides a 3 year warranty, other places I tried did not. Huge plus. I will be recommending them to anyone who needs work done on their vehicles and I will be returning to House of Automatic Transmissions. Thank you, Tom & Daniel.Service: Transmission

I serviced my 2015 BMW X5 automatic transmission here twice, first time at 50k 2 years ago and more recently again at 90k.Both times, I brought ZF transmission oil & OEM filter/pan combo and House of Automatic Transmissions had the work done. And I thought it was done as I expected, but I didn't stay there while the work was being done. After my last visit, Thomas told me he did not replace the transmission pan and only did the oil drain/fill, the reason was the fact that removing transmission pan will take most of the day (they d have to remove/put together half the car to access that pan). I appreciated his honesty on that, but it did not register in my mind how they did the same work in 2 hours on my first visit.That was 8 months ago: as my transmission wasn't shifting as smooth, today I went to my Indy Euro shop to replace the transmission oil (and filter/pan that Thomas couldn t replace) and the Indy owner who did the work said the transmission pan was never replaced before as it would take half a day to do and cost more than $200 for that work. He replaced everything for me.So it finally clicked in my mind - what Thomas told me on the second visit meant they really did not replace the transmission pan I provided on my 1st visit; the BMW transmission pan I paid $180 for separately was thrown out, not replaced as was shown on my receipt when I paid for work.Now, there's a small chance Thomas did not know about this if his employee did the work, and that employee did not want to bother to replace the pan and just threw away my new pan. Either way, since Thomas is the boss, he is responsible for their actions and should supervise the work: I'm disappointed as I lost $$ for parts and paid for work that wasn't done correctly, which impacted the life/condition of my pricey transmission. I recommend you stay there and watch them do the work. Thomas is a good man, but this was not a good experience, I won't return here.

Best shop ever!I took my car into the service center at the dealership and they said there was something wrong with my CV boot and my transmission and wanted to charge me over $1000 to fix it. I brought it to this shop and they looked at it for free, determined that the dealership was trying to get money out of me and the only thing wrong was my transmission was over filled, took some fluid out, and sent me on my way free of charge and within 40 min. Great service, kind people, highly recommend!!

They had the exact transmission i needed and I called them that night and I had a transmission delivered that next mornimg plus they were willing to accommodate me with whatever they could it seemed like...

Excellent work! This shop is honest reputable and I highly recommend all transmission work be done at this shop! Mr. Tom is not going to allow you to pay for anything that's not broke. Lastly, he's not going to try to rob you either! That's all you can ask for!

I went here for a free diagnostic for my engine light on a 2005 Dodge Caravan I was thinking of buying. I was met with a very friendly gentleman who did the check. He explained very clearly what problems I had with my transmission and also gave me a printout of the details and a quote.I wanted to give 4 1/2 stars because there is no public restroom and the parking lot is very small. I didn't see any other mechanics there at the time. But I think the service outweighs the trivial things.The reviews from Yelp and Google I have seen are very good. This place gives you a 3 year,50,000 mile warranty on rebuilds and they also do rebuilds on classic cars also.I ended up not buying the van because there was other issues but I would definitely take my vehicles here for transmission work.

Just picked up my truck, took about an hour to diagnose, service is great, price on rebuild was reasonable, very friendly staff! Parking area is super tiny, though, so might be difficult to tow your vehicle there.

This place is awesome. I will never go to another transmission shop as long as this place is in business. I can't say enough great things about this place. Super friendly and knowledgeable people and really fast service. If you have a transmission problem, this place needs to be your first stop.

Expert service, fair prices and friendly interactions. It's rare to find an owner/operator business these days where every employee is just top-notch. It almost worth a visit, just to remember how decent American business used to be.

Can't say enough about Tom's Customer Service acumen. Though HoAT wasn't able to fix the electrical issue on my vehicle, they were up front with me which in my eyes, is great customer service.Thank you HoAT!

Came in for a free diagnostic. The result? Nothing wrong with the transmission! It turned out to be an engine problem. The technician had seen the issue before and told me exactly what needed to be done to fix it (services not offered at this shop). Wow. I can't comment on the quality of the work performed here because I didn't end up needing any, but I was impressed with the service. If I ever do need transmission work done in the future, I know where I will go first.

DO NOT take your car here. I had to take it back multiple times. The last time he got sick of trying to figure out what he did wrong and claimed it was the computer, not the transmission.. But it was the same problem I had brought it in for the previous time. He just didn't want to honor his warranty. He talks a good game but is shady.

Menu board continually changed you could never get the price of what you were looking for a change so quicklycame in with a coupon buy one pizza get one free and had no size on it but they continually said that we had to get an extra large extra large extra-large there was like two of us

Took my car there for diagnosis and Tom checked it and even did a test drive, turned out there is no apparent issue with transmission. He suggested to have a deeper diagnosis, yet I couldn't vacate a time to leave the car for a day at their shop to do it, but I'll go back there. will Update this post after I do so.

I have an old 57 Buick and Tom was instrumental in getting that old transmission back on the road again anybody with any type of old transmission I recommend Tom to the highest degree!
