The shop exclusively accepts cash payments. If you find yourself without cash, Richie, the owner, will withhold your car key and request that you either walk home to get cash or call a family member or friend to bring it to you. It's advisable to have lots of cash on hand before going, as you will never know how much he will overcharge you.

Before you think about going there, here are the important things to know:1. The Bureau of Automotive Repair has received lots of complaints about Richie. You can check it out it's public info.2. Richie doesn't know what he's doing. He messed up my car's coolant and even mixed the wrong types.3. My first and probably only review on Google, ever. Richie is a phenomenal mechanic, but an even better human being. He goes above and beyond to make sure you get the fairest prices and the best service. Treat him right and he'll treat you even better. I knew he was going to be my new mechanic when he offered to come out and see my broken down car, stranded on a Sunday. What an incredible rapport he's able to build, and he makes sure that you understand he knows what he's talking about. Great service, fair prices, amazing place.

Richie was helpful, clear, and knowledgeable. I knew from the beginning that he knew what he was talking about. I had already talked to other mechanics and they did not know exactly how to fix the issue that kept reoccurring. He immediately knew the cause and the fix. He fixed it quickly so I could get back on the road. I highly recommend his service.Thanks, Richie!

I had a broken motor mount on my car & I pulled into Richies shop . Even though he said he was almost closing he was able to stay longer than usual and fixed my car. The next day I took it to the Nissan dealer and I asked them if they thought he had done a good job and they said Yes that it was a very well and professionally done job! Richie is such a great person and I will forever keep coming here!

I had the same experience as another person here - this same guy in a J&R truck threatened to kill me yesterday. He cut me off forcing me to swerve and almost hit another car. He then sped up to me and started screaming that I should pull over so he could beat me up and kill me. His anger was off the hook. Don t give this guy your business.

This man just pulled up next to us threatening to beat us up on the freeway very aggressive. PLEASE don't give this man your business he clearly has anger issues for him to beat up total stranger. Think of your and your cars safety.

RICHARD IS A SCAMMER! HE DIDN'T DO THE SERVICE PROPERLY AND HE JUST GOT OUR MONEY WITHOUT FIXING OUR CAR! HE WAS SO KIND AT FIRST AND WE THOUGHT A VERY ELOQUENT IN HIS EXPERTISE, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ACCORDING TO WHAT HE PROMISED AND SAID! HE DIDN'T EVEN GAVE US THE ORDER SLIP OR EVEN THE RECEIPT WHEN WE PAID! WHEN WE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE CAR NOT RUNNING, HE BECAME ERRATIC AND DOESN'T WANT TO SERVE US ANY GOOD. HE DOESN'T WANT THE CAR TO BE SERVICED AGAIN. HE KEPT ON AVOIDING.BY THE WAY, DURING ROAD TEST WITH THE PRESENCE OF THEIR MECHANIC, THE CAR FAILED, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED. SO WHEN WE THOUGHT ITS ALREADY GOOD AND REPAIRED, BUT ACTUALLY IT'S UNREPAIRED. WE ASKED IT TO BE SERVED AGAIN BUT THEN HE WAS YELLING, GIVING THAT VERY BAD ATTITUDE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONALISM.SO FOR THE FUTURE AND PROSPECT CLIENTS, MAKE A GOOD DECISION AND NOT JUST TRUST THIS GUY/SHOP.WE TRUSTED THE REVIEWS IN HERE BUT TRUTH TO BE TOLD, THIS RICHARD IS TRULY A SCAMMER, HAS A PROBLEM WITH HIS ATTITUDE NOT TRUE TO HIS SERVICE!

Absolutely thorough and no shady tricks at all. We are really impressed with the quality of work this place does for the reasonable rates that they charge. One of the few places where you leave appreciative of the money that you spent. Thank you very much Richie for the work on her BMW!

Whoever is responding to all these bad reviews must really have an anger problem. You don't need more to know this person needs anger management. He seems to have an excuse for everything that people find wrong with his shop. Will not do business at this shop that's for sure.

I came to J&R because I live around the corner. I have a cross-country ride coming up and my check engine light was on with my vehicle sputtering.Things could not have gone better!! Richard is a classic gentleman. I found him to be very informative, transparent, honest, and even generous. He went through the different diagnostics of the vehicle with me and shared his thoughts. At no time did I get the feeling that he was attempting to rip me off or overcharge. To the contrary, his recommendations made sense and he pointed out some potential future repairs and maintenance on the vehicle without attempting to convince me to do the repairs right away.I don't want to exaggerate, but Richard really did restore some of my lost faith in humanity with his honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Sadly, it's become a rare thing these days. Again, I didn't sense at all that he was attempting to "up-sell" or rip me off. If anything, he may have undercharged.In the end, the work was about $200 for parts and labor. I gave him $230 because I was so happy, and the man wouldn't take the extra money!!!!My vehicle is running great, and I will certainly tell my friends to take their repairs to J&R on San Gabriel Blvd.Thank you Richard and staff.Service: Auto engine tuning

Angels sent from above!!! I ran over something on the road and quickly looked for someone that was open and finding them was such a relief. The engine cover popped off and Richie and Jason came to the rescue to fix the problem. They are the absolute best! Thank you so much guys! Ritchie helped me a lot with my car and this guy has the most genuine heart of helping others. I am so thankful with him for everything. I recently bought a car at VS Autoguys last April 21 2022, and apparently it was a junk. Ritchie helped me fixing the car and even repainted it for no cost. He's even helping me to report the dealership where I got my car from to report it to the bereau for selling me an unsafe car. He is a great guy and also a genius when it comes to cars! I don't think that all these bad reviews on his autoshop are telling the real situation because I know for a fact that J & R auto services/Ritchie is a good guy and even charge people less than any other autoshop. I highly recommend this autoshop if you need a fix on your car. Hands down to Ritchie that's all I can say.

To start off I'd like to thank Mr. Ritchie for he's great service and professionalism. As soon as I walked in he received me with open arms and made me feel at home. Hands down here's a hard working man who truly takes pride in what he does. Always taking care of others and making sure they're safe. This man goes above and beyond for his clients. Be careful of the owner, Richard. He is not a professional guy. I brought my corvette in for some work and he told me that worst case scenario to fix the brakes and fuel system is about $4000 maximum. At first I thought that was excessive but he talked me into that he will fix all minor stuffs like full maintenance and replace all bad hoses, etc. This was July 2021. Ever since, he called and always asked for more money. After 3 payments of over $3000 and my car is still sitting in the same spot in November so I told him that I m not giving him anymore money until he shows me the work. So he wrote up an estimate in November that I owe him $9,000 plus. This was crazy so I asked to have my car returned and he said give him $3000 and we are even. So I contacted the Bureau of Automotive Repairs and filed a complaint. I found out this guy has swindled many people and there s past complaints with this guy. Richard had contacted me and use the worst language imaginable from any person you can imagine. So I told him that I m going to court to get my car back. My white Corvette has been parked in the same spot for more than 6 months. Don t do business with this guy or you might be a victim like me.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My car was shaking and the check engine light came on on a Sunday This was the 10 th place I called, they were open and the owner helped me right away. He was honest and straight, ran to get the parts as soon as he diagnosed the problem. This was 4:30 pm on a Sunday. This guy is a con and out to get people for thier money another guy had a incident with this owner that came out on the news a few months ago....and it all happened because he wasn't fixing his car when he said he would.....and the same problem happened with me he kept pushing the days back....i advise nobody to come here
