**Response to Yota1's Comments**Thank you for your response. This will be the last thing that I will say because there is no sense on going back and forth. You stated, If he had done his part the heat tabs would be intact. It puzzles me because my temperature gauge never went up high; it was always normal. My instructions from your shop were to have the Mikuni carburetors tuned (the very same carburetor that was recommended by your shop) and to also change the break-in oil after 500 miles.I did not know from the beginning that your shop does not know how to tune Mikuni carburetors and so I don t know why you would recommend something your shop does not know how to work on. Your shop had my truck for 9 months and then you tell me to have my carburetor tuned somewhere else because your employees don t know how to tune it. Keep in mind your shop installed the carburetor. Did you really expect me to leave my truck in your shop for another 9 months to figure out how to tune a carburetor?I did not even have a chance to change the break-in oil because the instruction was after 500 miles. My truck has less than 300 miles since it came out of the shop. You re accusing me of not doing your job as a performance shop by not tuning the carburetor that you installed and therefore it caused the following problems: Bad Eagle Rods. Bent Crank. Incorrect block clearances. Incorrect main clearances. Bolts were loose inside the motor. I paid for a performance cylinder head, and it was not. Stock spring retainers used.Again, you state that because I did not do your job by tuning the carburetor that you installed it caused all the things I listed above.I will have the complete list and just make the various State agencies figure it out.I have had 22Rs since 1986 but I have no time to work on it and so I thought that I would bring it to a reputable shop. I saw a few negative comments but thought it might have been an anomaly, which now I regret. I never would have thought being a performance shop that you would not know to tune a Mikuni carburetor. I also did not know that being a performance shop you would NOT dyno the motor and test that it works properly. You are correct in letting the readers decide, but pictures are worth a lot more. Nothing else to justify on why I am not made whole for an inferior build. This is the last response because your explanation just makes your YOTA 1 shop look really bad and makes me more regret not doing my due diligence on finding a reputable shop.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To ALL truck clubs WARNING I had Yota1 Performance build me a Stage 3 22R motor which I paid a LOT of MONEY for the work. The motor is basically garbage. Their work is garbage. I regret ever going to Yota1. They do not warranty anything so whatever sales pitch NICK the owner gives you I would not believe. I have a lot of club brothers who bought their cranks there and they did NOT last. I pulled the motor out and this is what we found. The cylinder head was not a performance cylinder head. The crank was bent. The Eagle rods they put were not good. The Piston and main clearance were not correct. They use cheap parts. This is coming from a person who does not write reviews, but money spent was enormous and I just don't want anybody to make the same mistake. Picture is worth more than I can say so here it is.

I live in San Francisco and I would travel here any day to get my motor rebuilt. Customer service here is top notch! You can t pay enough for quality. My motor on my mr2 blew and my friend recommended this shop. I went all out on the motor and do no regret it. Everyone here is very transparent, especially Kevin D. He has been with me since the beginning of this engine build. Gave me a couple recommendations and man his customer service is superb! Again, I d travel back here any day to get my motor done even if I have to travel far. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Kevin D is awesome!

I found out about Yota1 though a recommendation from the "Timmy the Toolman" YouTube Channel. I purchased a rebuilt 2WD R150 transmission from them and returned my old one as a core.I have ~500 miles on the rebuild now and am really pleased with their product and service.Would 100% do business with them again and recommend their products to others. I'm happy to support a small independent shop that does 1st class work. The people who have answered the phone & emails have been kind and professional. For anyone interested, Timmy The Toolman has teamed w/ Yota1 and done an R150 transmssion and 5VZ-FE cylinder head rebuild videos. Both are gold mines of good information.

These Guys built me the most solid engine I could have dreamed of. This review comes 3 years after my build and the thing has been ripping every weekend since. I drive my truck 4 hr to the desert. Foot pretty much never leaves the floor all weekend. drive home no problem. engine is a low effort 3rz bottom end was all Yota 1 with their Custom light weight H-Beam Rods. came on a pallet fully built ready to rock. Top end was me. custom SS valve train Custom Port with a LCE Cam/header. balance shaft delete, light weight fly wheel and under drive pulley. best decision I made going with them. Keep up the great work guys. the quality did not go unnoticed. top notch. also as a side note, from my subjective testing, ams oil 10-40 F-Syn with zinc is the best oil to run, I could feel and hear the difference in my engine with making that switch.

The transmission on my 02 4Runner started to go out and no one east of the sierras had one in stock or they were willing to let it go. Yota1 had one they d just dropped out of another truck and worked with me to get it reman d and installed as soon as possible. I travelled from Southern California up to Riverbank to have the truck worked on. Joe, Eric and Amber were super informative and went above and beyond the entire time. Eric ended up finding some frame rust issues that needed immediate addressing for the truck to be safe and road worthy. He stayed late and came in early to make sure I had my truck back in time to drive back home and make it to work on Monday. Eric, you re the man. I appreciate everyone at Yota1 s attention to detail and passion for Toyotas. Will be making it a point of it to bring my truck here for any major needs. After this job I don t think there s anything I wouldn t trust these guys with concerning my truck. Thanks again dudes

These guys are so good they walked my mechanic through a frontend build three states away in New mexico. The mechanic here was on his sixth set of barings and three weeks in, about give up! Then he talked to yota1, and I had my truck back the next day! Thanks, guys! You're the best!

DO NOT GO TO YOTA 1 UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CHEATED AND THREATENED WITH VIOLENCE!Went to Yota1 to fix an oil consumption problem, but they could not diagnose the issue. When I said it was unfair to charge me a diagnostic fee when they didn't find the issue, the owner very rudely stated they would not work on my truck at all.I respectfully stated my disapproval of the diagnostic charge, but he got angry and told me they would waive the charge, but wouldn't work on my truck any further. At this point the owner of the shop started to get extremely threatening. When I tore the tag off my keys and threw it on the floor in frustration, he started cussing me out. He then followed me into the parking lot and started slamming his hands on the hood of my truck yelling "get outta here!". I thought he was going to punch me. I had to face him off in order to not be attacked, but I didn't raise my voice or act disrepectfully before that point. I guess someone littering a key tag warrents violent threats at Yota1. Be Warned! These guys are not the Toyota gurus they make themselves out to be. They couldn't even figure out my oil consumption issue, but still suggested a full engine Re-build ($5500+ which the $180 diagnostic fee would not be applied towards). This level of upselling without first completing a proper diagnosis is completely unprofessional.I easily found another shop that would not charge me if they didn't find a cause during the initial diagnosis, and it is standard that the shop would put any diagnostic charge towards the cost of a major rebuild. There are MANY UNPROFFESSIONAL shops out there, just look at some of my other negative reviews of autoshops and you'll find a few, but there are good ones too. I kept looking and found a good shop, I recommend you do the same.I WARN YOU!!! STAY AWAY FROM YOTA 1!!!!

The staff and owner here are the BEST! So knowledgeable. Made me feel comfortable about my engine purchase and parts. I can't recommend enough. I hope I never need another engine, but I won't go anywhere else now for a replacement. Definitely worth the 4 1/2 hour drive! Thanks Yota 1. You folks deserve a good review!

I purchased a complete rebuilt 3vze for my 92 extracab pickup 2 years ago. 30k since and going strong. Purchased r150f transmission 6 months ago, shifts like new. 450k on chassis, And now going to upgrade my rear diff, 4.88 and a grizzly locker from Yota1. With the transmission and diff I contacted Marlin crawler for price and availability, was told 8-12 weeks out to ship. Yota1 price is comparable but are 1-2 weeks out and are the same quality if not better. And when there is a question, Nick is there to answer questions. They have excellent attention to detail. All I have left to replace is the transfer case. I m sure when the time comes, I ll buy it from Yota1!Services: Transmission, Motor building

Yota1 did a stage 1 rebuild on my 22RE. I am very happy with their work. The engine was leak free, looks fantastic, and runs great. The engine does have a small amount of cold piston slap, but much less than prior to the rebuild. This is a known issue that Toyota deemed it a "characteristic" back in the day. TSB 023081586 (August 1986) acknowledged the issue, and Toyota revised the piston design with a reinforcement rib. The cast Sealed Power pistons that Yota1 uses have cold slap with a 0.002" skirt-to-wall clearance...at least mine does. Installing hyper-eutectics with 0.001" clearance might resolve the issue. Or use genuine Toyota pistons, which would be expensive. Anyway, slightly disappointed, but does not affect the performance or longevity of the engine. I just warm it up a little before taking off. The engine consumes zero oil, the oil stays clean, and compression numbers are 160-170 psi after 1000 miles. Also, likely due to their reputation, Yota1 is a bit swamped. Their wait times are getting on par with 22RE Performance (pushing a year). And getting your questions answered can be a bit challenging at times. So given these two things, I rate them a 4/5.

Yota 1 provided and superb custom built 22RE and despite difficulties on my end did not loose patience. Nick and the whole team at Yota1 strive for excellence and provide quality products and customer service even from across the country.February 20245 Years and 60,000 miles later, My 22re built by Yota 1 is still going strong! Absolutely no issues related to the engine or it's internals. The motor is installed in an 88 4runner and I drive this thing hard, daily. I routinely revout every gear getting up to speed and engine brake alot coming up to stops, and it just takes it. Oil + filter change every 3000-3500 miles with conventional 10w30.

I gave my R22 rebuild the test of time before leaving a review. It's been about 3 years of driving on and off road. I've had zero problems. * it's a great shop but I'm happy doing business just once. However, I will continue to spread the good word about their quality work. Thank You

I spent some time trying to find a shop that could swap out the OE front sway bar for the Cusco. They don't normally work on RAV4s, so Nick said to bring it in and they would put it up on the rack to see if they felt comfortable doing the work. I should mention that, including the Toyota dealer, this Yota1 was the fourth shop that I took it to.I was in and out in a couple of hours and they successfully swapped the bars. They even found a strut tower bolt that I had dropped a few weeks earlier and could not find.Great work and friendly staff.

I decided to rebuild a motor for my old 4Runner. Mine is a 4x4 with the 3.4L 5VZFE. This was my 1st time doing a rebuild, so after doing my research, talking to a bunch of enthusiast, and watching 100s of hours of videos it s hard not to notice where everyone is getting their parts. Yota1 s part inventory is impressive, prices where good, shipping was fast, but the customer service was awesome! All of the ordering is done on the website. Which is easy to navigate. But I had questions that where answered promptly by a knowledgeable Customer Service Representative. If the CSR did not know the answer, they knew how to find it.Services: Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Motor building, Vehicle maintenance

I have not been in their shop but I just ordered a rebuilt 22re from them. Nick was extremely helpful and friendly helping me determine where the upgrades were worth the $ for my particular use. I called a few shops and Nick was by far the most helpful and knowledgeable person I spoke with. My only complaint is that they are in California and not closer to me in Arizona! This seems like a top quality facility run by people who care.

My advice, take all your vehicles to this shop. These folks do quality and honest work at a fair price. Had a full engine rebuild done for my Tacoma and had the head gasket/timing replaced on our Subaru. Happy with the results of both vehicles. All in all, these are good people who do good work.

Yota 1 is without a doubt, one of the most professional shops I have had they pleasure of doing business with! They're true professionals and very knowledgeable when it comes to Toyota's. They made me feel very comfortable while my truck was at their shop and always kept me informed so there were no "surprise" repairs or cost. If I ever had any further problems with my Toyota pickup, I would not hesitate to go to them for repairs! I will continue to refer them as they are 100% reliable and trustworthy! Thanks Yota1

I order a lot of parts from Yota1 and they always have what I am looking for. It is convenient that I can order all my engine parts from one place. They always stock OEM parts but you pay much less than you would at a dealer. Orders always arrive on time with good packaging and sometimes stickers. Will continue to use Yota1 for parts!

The lady on the phone was very professional and knowledgeable. Got my engine and it was prepped nice and secure for shipping. Got it in my truck and runs great and very smooth!!! Highly recommended!!!

This place has sone of the best prices on engine parts for 22RE and 22RTE engines around. Definitely lower than LCEngineering. I've never purchased one of their long blocks but I haven't heard anything negative from people who have purchased their engines or complete heads. Shipping was very fairly priced and I will definitely purchase more parts from Yota1 Performance in the future!

I came here on 11-8-17 to get my flywheel resurfaced. I waited for the shop to open up so I can give them the flywheel. I could've went to other shops close by that opened earlier but I went to this one because of the good feedback I heard and it's all true. They do great work and I was able to leave happily. Will definitely come again.

I have never been to the shop itself however I have had an absolutely astounding expierence through the website and email. First of all they sell real genuine quality parts at unbelievibly low prices. On top of that the employees and owners of the company, have given me nothing but excellent customer service with any problems or questions I have had. I couldn t recommend a better company to go through for Toyota parts and in terms of Toyota I have looked everywhere for my parts. I highly recommend them to you and even my mom (;
