Great customer service.. Ali is a very honest, trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanic.. He treats my car like it's his and takes pride in that.. Any issues with my breathalyzer he takes care of.. My experience was bad and here are the details:- At the beginning, I felt something was wrong because they were very reluctant to explain what s wrong with my car and simply try to only talk about what needs to be fixed or replaced. They were not pushy though, I give them that.- True, they will give an estimate before they do anything. Since I m not a mechanic, I trust that the pricing will be fair regarding labor and parts. Using the invoice to compare the parts prices against what s available online, I was appalled! They marked up everything to almost double. A simple example to give you a taste, using the part numbers they provided, an air filter that costs $18 was priced to me as $36! The same pattern applies to the rest of the replaced parts.- The least of their problems is that they are not on time.Long story short, I m not a mechanic and can t tell whether my car needed all the repairs they recommended. But hell I can say that their parts pricing was dishonest and they overcharged me. Therefore, they are not trustworthy, and I will not go back for another repair again.Update: The below repair shop reply brazenly admits guilt of overcharging! The worst service ever in bay area!

A friend recommended this shop and so when my check engine light came on I went here. Ali said they would charge a diagnostic and waive if you do work at this shop. He told me confidently he knew the issue and I was happy to let him fix it. About 900 dollars spent. On the drive home later that day check engine light pops back on with the same initial code. I think maybe it s an error, take it back to the shop. He clears the code. A couple days later the code pops back on. I take it back expecting him to help since he was confident in the diagnostic and there s a warranty . He says it s a new issue with engine sludge. But, sludge would ruin the new part he replaced and should be diagnosed before replacing. He ignores these statements and says he would charge me more to correct. Likely wasted 900 dollars. My dad who tried to help me tells him don t do any more work since he wants to keep charging me despite the initial issues still ongoing. He says he did work without consent (illegal). At the end he wishes bad karma upon me. Potentially he has created new issues. Save yourself and try some other mechanics on your journey. There are other reviews similar to this one. Be cautious. I really tried to give him a chance. Hoping to save you stress

Staff very friendly and knowledgeableAli was great and did my car and serviced it according to my needs what I needed for a tune-up and 100,000 mi service as well as putting on new tires which were needed reasonable prices and rates.

No one there to give estimate and they started the oil change. When the boss got there and gave me the estimate, it was overpriced at $105. They have ads at Lucky for $70. Watch out.Service: Oil changeService: Oil change

Went to another place close by here and they tried to scam me. I called Ray's and Ali was upfront and honest and helped me get the work done that was needed without trying to play games and get it covered by my warranty. He also showed me the old parts replaced. Thank you for being honest and helpful and getting my car back in good working order...

Terrible service. I DO NOT recommend this auto shop. I'm not sure if Ali is the owner, but they are NOT HONEST at all.I initially took my car there because the engine light is on, first of all, my car is fairly new and has less than 15,000 milages. If they are honest, he could just tell me to take my car to the dealership because my car is still under warranty.They kept my car for 3 days and ended up with charged me $850 for diagnosis and "calibration" without giving an estimate before they do the work. After less than a week, the engine light is on AGAIN, so I took the car back to the shop and told them they did not fix it.They said they would have to run the diagnosis AGAIN, and if it was not the same problem they will fix it for free. I kept my car there over the weekend and the next Monday I went to the shop directly and ask why they haven't returned my call. They explained to me there is a part broken and needs to be replaced, they are contracting the dealership to get the part estimation and it will take a few more days.At this point I don't trust them anymore, I took my car away and brought my car to the dealership directly and showed them the service document provided by Ray's auto shop, the dealership's technician looked at the document and told me, there is NOTHING to "calibrate" for this car, and my car is still under warranty so repair is all free, if they are honest they should have told me at the first place.In short, terrible experience. They charged me $850 and fixed nothing.

I've brought my car here a couple times and have always had honest service. Been to other repair shops that always add on random services and charge a lot for basic filter changes, but Rays has always been really honest which I value a lot. and they do a great job!

This shop SCAMS people out of money. Do NOT leave your car with them. Once they had my car and gave me the estimate, the price to the fix kept changing and they kept calling me to push me to do a super expensive fix. They were extremely unprofessional and lied about what they told to fix. They fixed a bunch of things that I never asked for and the they actually never fixed the main problem my car had, one day after getting home the engine and hev light turned on again and now they were telling me I needed to replace my hybrid battery and wanted more money. I paid over 1000 dollars and my car still runs the same. They asked me to take my car back, they had the nerve to ask me to pay an extra 180 for the diagnosis again after i spend so much money already and a day after my car runs the same. Please again don t go there your money will be stolen!

They were extremely unprofessional and lied about what they told me just a few hours ago. I had to pay to get my car back with no work being done at all. To make matter worse the quotes they provided me were double of the other mechanics I called. stay away from this place. Now I'm out of money and still need to get the car fixed.

I brought my Volvo in for an oil change and inspection, specifically to check the suspension and steering. I was told that there was one problem with the steering with the mechanic who did the inspection and a different problem by the owner. When I started asking questions about why they did not agree with the problem, the owner became very rude. Related to what the owner said was the problem, I specifically asked if it was possible to change a rubber bushing rather than the whole suspension member and was told that Volvo did not sell the bushing separately. After my conversation I found that Volvo does sell the bushing which would be a fraction of the cost of the whole suspension member.However, afterward, I brought the car to a Volvo expert mechanic to try to get the best diagnosis of the potential issue and was told that the suspension was fine, no problem with it though there were other problems. I the expert repair the problem he found and since the car has driven like a new vehicle.Services: Vehicle Inspection, Oil change

Ali, the owner, is a great guy. The AC compressor on our Honda Pilot had failed, and we were coming up from SB. They were able to take us on quick notice, and swap out our compressor for a new one same day. Ali was upfront and honest about their pricing and estimate, and did a great job. $150/hour seems to be the going rate in the area. He even replaced a leaking cable for us at no extra charge. Great customer service, would absolutely come again and recommend Ray s to anyone else.

This place will charge you to diagnose the problem to the tune of $180 than quite almost double what others shops would charge. This way they ether get $180 for a few mn of work or double what other shops make. Ether way stay away. They also just Google the problem and don't actually diagnose the problem. When I had another shop check the issue it's was visually obvious what the problem was and this shop gave me a different diagnoses that was not correct.

This place is a gem and I have waited quite some time to write this review as I have gotten my car serviced here since 08/2019! Ali, the shop owner is honest, professional, punctual, and extremely thorough. As a female who doesn t know much about cars I really appreciated their honesty and the fact that they aren t trying to upsell their services.I came across this shop when I brought in my vehicle for a second opinion as another shop had given me an estimate that was extremely high. Ali and his crew provided an estimate for issues that needed to be addressed right away and other issues (defined by the other shop as urgent) that can wait. Ever since my initial encounter with Ray s Auto I have never looked elsewhere to service both my 2016 Lexus IS and 2017 Porsche Macan.

I had my car towed to them a little over a week ago late on Saturday and met Ali , the shop owner, who waited a bit after to make sure my car was secured before shop closed. The work that was done was great and under my budget. After getting picking up my car he mentioned to me that my window didn't roll up and i mentioned that it was able to before it was towed. Although he couldn't test it prior to me bringing it to him he took the time to check it and fix it before my car left his shop with out cost. I find this type of business practice hard to find and i now know there is some still good businesses out there that treat the customer right. Thanks Guys my car is still running great.

This is the kind of business that you want to support. Excellent, high-quality work on my car and at a very reasonable cost. It is hard enough to afford to live in the Bay Area and they work with you and tell you what you need to keep your car running on the road safely and not more. My car broke down on the freeway and I needed to get it towed to a local mechanic so I picked Ray s. They were very responsive and agreed that I could get my car towed there and they would perform diagnostic testing. I got a call back before end of day explaining what was wrong and estimates for the repair. Very friendly and communicative staff.

I called Ali in order to schedule a tune up/inspection of I car I had recently purchased. He was able to get me in the next morning. He quickly called me with a reasonable quote for some general maintenance that was necessary. Was able to do all the work and have my car ready for me that day. Very straight forward and transparent. Very happy, honest and professional would recommend ! My steering wheel on my 2005 Porsche was shaking on the highway around 65mph. I stopped by without an appointment and Ali took care of the problem right away. He took the car for a test drive after the repair to double check that the problem was gone. He also didn t try to sell me on an alignment and said I only need balancing.

I recently visited Ray's Auto repair for rear brake service and I was extremely happy with their work. The mechanics are fast and knowledgable with very good suggestions to save you extra cost in the long term. The team is very easy to communicate and they perform some reasonable and quick additional inspection on your car for free. Thank you for being great and honest!

Fantastic honest and lighting quick service. Ali and the team are the best hardworking mechanics ever. Super honest and they give the best price possible.Top quality service. They did suspension work on my 2016 subaru WRX and gave me new brakes in 4 days!These go go the extra mile and ante worth every single penny!

The service was great! I was there early in the morning and Staff attended customers immediately. My car was blowing hot air and Ray s Auto Shop fixed it really well and didn t made me wait for a long time and fixed it ASAP. I've been taking my 2011 Infiniti G37 here for a little while now and honestly they've been giving me great deals here n there. I trust the people working on my car they have good chemistry. Went for a tire repair, was leaking from the rim bedding. They took it off, sanded and cleaned the wheel and re-mounted the tire. Nice people, highly recommend

The price was in line with the research I did, my air conditioning is a bit more powerful than before it broke, and the speed of the repair... this is the first time I've ever had to tell a mechanic "slow down, I can't pick up the car that fast!"I'd say that the competition has a high standard to live up to, but why would I even go to the competition when Ray's is still open?

Had an accident on the freeway and needed to change one of my tire right away. Called Ray s tire and they took care of changing my tire in 15 minutes. These guys are truly professional. They treat everyone like a human. Have a discussion with you and explain what you need.I had my car towed here after some friends highly recommended them and they did not disappoint.They do all kinds of auto maintenance.Give them a try.

Well paid $165.00 to find out why check engine light came on, and reset. Only to find out it still on and nothing was explained or written down. Then later that day discovered that my back up sensor was missing apparently due to someone's poor ability to back up straight. Otherwise they were very polite and respectful to a woman.
